Happy Carbon Tax Day BC!

I'm back, safe and sound in my basement, blogging, after our trip to BC. The buzz there was about the $100 cheques they have been receiving. Are they spending the money? Yes. Are they fooled into thinking this makes the carbon tax okay? NO! Not one single person I talked to thought the carbon tax is a good idea, not one.

Now, you might be thinking, well, she only talked to her family, and that's true, but we are a very diversified family, NDP, Conservative and Liberal, sorry no true green voters, unless you count the under 15's. Not one person, no matter what party they vote for, like the carbon tax, period. The lineups for gas before July first were long and sometimes heated. We waited for 10 minutes to get a pump, and a guy cut us off, thankfully the gas attendant got to that guy before my normally quiet husband got his hands on the guy.

BC is not happy with the carbon tax, no matter how hard the lefty papers are trying to spin it. This will be the litmus test for Dion, and it will fail. When even my Dad, a die hard Liberal, calls the news, "hard left" and biased, you know the game is up for the Liberals in BC.

Most surprising this weekend was my former NDP Uncle, who called PM Harper, "the best PM Canada has ever seen". This is high praise from a former principal of a school in Vancouver. This is what the polls are not showing. My Mom, as a retired accountant, can not understand how the Liberals elected Dion as their leader. She has also stated that she likes "my PM"!

My point? BC might like thinking green, but when it hits their wallets tomorrow, it's going to send lots of federal Conservative votes our way.

Oh, and this poll is very interesting.

Stephane Dion trailed far behind the other leaders, just ahead of Republican presidential nominee John McCain:

Barack Obama: 26 per cent
Stephen Harper: 21 per cent
Hillary Clinton: 16 per cent
Jack Layton: 9 per cent
Gilles Duceppe: 6 per cent
Stephane Dion: 5 per cent
John McCain: 3 per cent

Seeing as Canadians can't vote for Obama, it appears that PM Harper is sitting pretty for the next election. Seriously, Dion polls below all leaders, except McCain? The title is Canadians prefer Obama???? How about Dion is in the tank?? Or, PM Harper would win over Hillary? Or, PM Harper could give Obama serious competition in fight for the White House?? Personally, I think it is a ridiculous fluff piece by lefty CTV.

Now, a 10 hour drive from Kelowna to Edmonton means I'm too tired to download some awesome pictures of the Rockies tonight, including the wildlife we saw, but tomorrow is a whole new day.

Parents Unite, We Need To Fight!!

Is there any doubt that parents are under attack by our little socialist lefty friends? Lets take a quick look at how they have been busy eroding parental authority.

First up: Court ruling on parental discipline stuns, raises questions of right to raise children

If you deny your children access to TV or withhold their allowance, can they take you to court? And win?

That implausible scenario emerged after a judge in Gatineau sided with a 12-year-old girl who challenged her father after he refused to let her go on a school trip for disobeying his orders to stay off the Internet.

Experts in family law and child welfare say they were dumbfounded by last Friday's ruling by Superior Court Justice Suzanne Tessier.

Okay, so you can't ground your kid for disobeying you. Got it.

Next: Anti-spanking bill passes through Senate

OTTAWA -- A bill that would expose parents to criminal prosecution for spanking their children has cleared the Senate, bound to reopen wounds still sore from a Supreme Court ruling four years ago.

Sponsored by Liberal Senator Celine Hervieux-Payette, the bill passed final reading in the Senate on Tuesday night.

Approval in the upper house followed debate and three days' of committee hearings at which criminal defence lawyers and the Canadian Bar Association argued against the criminalizing impact it could have on parents, as well as teachers and caregivers.

Okay, you can't spank your kid, check!

Next: No pulling kids from gay-friendly classes, Vancouver parents told

VANCOUVER - The Vancouver board of education says it plans to enforce a ministry policy that prevents parents from pulling students out of classes that deal with alternative sexuality.

A recent staff recommendation from the Vancouver board of education says parents can pull their children out of sensitive lessons in health classes because of religious or family beliefs, but can't opt their children out of gay-friendly lessons in any other classes.

Okay, schools must teach gay-friendly lessons, and your kids are not excused, there will be a test! Got it.

Maybe a Muslim should go to the BCHRC and file a complaint against the province, that would really put the BCHRC in a pickle, who do they pander to, the gay agenda or the Muslim religious beliefs?

So, as parents, we can't spank, ground, or shield our children from "alternative sexuality". When my kids do something wrong, what's left? I bet they would go ballistic if I made them read passages from the Bible, but as far as I can tell, that's still safe, until someone complains to the HRC's.

In the meantime, this little gem seems to be what parents who are feeling unloved can do to feel better:

Residents upset by swingers clubs

Now, residents are upset about a swingers club almost across the road from the strip club, called Menage a Quatre. Mr. Grimes's motion, passed by council, said the club is meant "to allow swingers to engage in multi-partner sexual acts."

Another club in the area, called HERS Night Club, advertises itself on its website as a venue for customers, who pay $5 to $60 admission, "to get away from the hypocrisy and double standards of the outside world and come live out sexual dreams and desires." (It also says on its site that it is moving to a new location.)

Did you know that it is perfectly legal for a 16 year old (thank goodness they raised the age of consent, it used to be legal for 14 year olds!) to go to a swingers club, as long as they don't serve liquor? I wonder if that's why the admission is only $5 for some patrons?

Oh, and how does this one grab you?

Que. police allege baby was victim of porn ring

Provincial police in Quebec allege that an infant was one of the victims in an international online child pornography ring.

"What we know is that most of the victims were of elementary school age and one of them was as young as a baby who was just a few months old," Sgt. Joyce Kemp told The Canadian Press Wednesday.

"They are children who had not yet reached puberty."

At least this it still illegal! Glad they caught those scumbags, may they rot in jail.

BUT, don't you dare ground your 12 year old daughter for posting their pictures on a dating site!!!!

Lefties think swingers clubs, bathhouses, legalized prostitution, and indoctrinating young kids with lessons on "alternative sexuality", is GOOD!

Spanking or grounding your kid, BAD!

Time for parents and grandparents to grab their pens and start protesting.

Shame, The PM Praised What They Have Done!

Any leader of a political party pumps up their supporters, but supposedly this is a BIG no-no for PM Harper, he's not allowed to rally the troops, or so CTV and Fife say. If CTV is this biased, how bad is CBC, I don't know because I haven't watched the CBC news for years.

Fife does not report the news, he states his opinion. (video)

What is the opinion of actual Canadians? Read the comments on the article. Here are some samples:

Mary HInes
I guess you did as much as you could to bash our Prime Minister. He was there making a speech... do you not believe that Dion's speeches are also to woo voters to vote for him, but that is never mentioned.... Just dion and his great plan, that everyone will eat up and think they are eating lobster...Why can't just once you report something positive on our Prime Minister. After all, the people did elect him, he represents us, and every time you mention his name has to be with a negative headline.... Shame on you bias liberals...

Downey
"Prime Minister Stephen Harper addressed a crowd of supporters in Quebec Tuesday". He was speaking to 'supporters'. If he wants to talk about the Conservative Party, what is the problem with this? Why is this news and why are people on here complaining about it?

Wayne
All I can say is Thank God that Mr. Harper has been sitting in the PM's chair the last 2 years as he has done more for Canada in this short time than the Liberals did in a dozen years. Let's look at the facts right now we have lower taxes, lower national debt, increased pride in our military and are exceeding our international obligations, increased respect from other nations, increased unity in Canada and all the while he has not sucked up to the media or hypocritically behaved other than the Conservative he is. He has my vote and get this I used to be a Liberal the only thing left is to get rid of this lunatic idea of taxing carbon which would indeed affect everything at a time when we do not and should not be playing with our economy as so far we have escaped what is happening down south but how long can that happen for. While we are at it Gordon Campbell needs a little help out the door as well with this carbon tax here in BC = Axe The Tax!!!!!

Gary
It seems to irk many here to no end that PM Harper is doing a reasonable if not great job running this country..What makes it so ironic is that those just waiting for him to fumble so they can pounce with their nay say are so much better off yet their blind faith to a past liberal government that was sinking this country both morally and financially won't allow themselves to see it. Right or wrong, left or right, Conservative or Liberal are not written in stone or necessarily realated to one another or at least they shouldn't be in the voters mind..If a government is doing a fair job then I say they deserve our praise and vote..Steadfast partisan politics from the voters perspective is nothing more then blind arrogance/ignorance and a disservice to those that vote informatively

And by far the best response of all:

Ian
We Canadians are a funny breed. We claim that we are a democratic people, yet we can't accept any party but the Liberals in power. We constantly cry that we are too overly taxed, yet criticize a PM who cuts our taxes, and praise a man who wants to jack them up again. We complain that our courts are too lax with criminals, yet complain when the government wants to get tough on crime. We claim that Canada shouldn't be so buddy buddy with the US, yet we spend the vast majority of our tourism dollars down there, all the while slagging their President at every turn. We all claim that we support human rights, but praise our Liberal PMs for signing trade deals with China and Cuba. I could go on, but you get my point. Let's face it, Canada is a left leaning society and we will never give the Conservatives a fair shot, yet we take advantage of all of the good things that this government has provided, without giving them the credit they deserve. I give up!

Don't give up Ian, the landscape is shifting, the "polls" don't show it, but it is there simmering under the surface. Last election it was about voting for change, next election will be about leadership, and good governance.

Read the rest of the comments, it's quite illuminating. Facts against emotion.

Mucker's Off Dion!

I can see the Liberals drooling over this news.

Alberta posts a 4.6 billion surplus.

Record high oil prices and a booming population pushed Alberta’s budget surplus to $4.6 billion in the 2007-08 fiscal year — despite record spending.

The financial report for the year ended March 31 shows that resource revenues shot well past early predictions and reached $11 billion — the third-highest in Alberta history.

Government officials concede that with oil now trading at more than US$130 a barrel another windfall of resource revenues is in the offing.

But a bustling economy also pushed government spending to record levels to relieve a backlog of building projects and higher health and education costs.

Oh, I know us selfish, rednecked Albertans aren't willing to share with poor, soon to be have not, Ontario. Hey Ontario, who do you think is buying all those big honking trucks you produce?

I miss Ralph! He would have been in Dion's face about NEP II, and making no bones that Alberta will NOT tolerate this tax grab. Stelmach, come out, come out, where ever you are! You are the Premier, stand up for your province. Crickets.

This article at least shows someone has some backbone left in Alberta.

It's good news because the 2007-08 final figure is expected to exceed the $4 billion she booked in her April budget documents by another half a billion bucks. That surplus started life 15 months ago as a $2-billion windfall.

The usual suspects are to blame: Oil, gas and a roaring economy which cranks out mega-millions in provincial taxes.

The bad news, of course, is that there are cynical politicians out there who are devising devious ways of tapping the province's energy wealth pipeline.

"Some of the other provinces do look covetously at Alberta," Evans sighed.

Other pols - step forward, Ottawa Liberal Leader Stephane Dion - are not even being subtle about it.

Last week, Dion launched his "Green Shaft" tax-and-redistribute scheme to suck as much as $15 billion a year out of the energy economy, most of which is located right here.

Dion's describing it as a "good, bold idea" which will be "good for the planet and good for your wallet."

Iris begs to differ with the nutty professor.

'POOR PLAN'

"It's a poor plan," she spat. "It's not even a green plan. It impacts industry and everybody," Evans continued. "Not only in Alberta, but in other places."

While Dion's $40-a-tonne carbon tax gouge isn't aimed at the Alberta government's cash flow directly, like Pierre Trudeau's national energy program did 27 years ago, it's designed to suck the surplus energy revenue out of Alberta.

When our economy falters, so do Evans's revenues.

But Albertans aren't in this thing alone, Evans stressed.

"My hope is that they recognize that no matter what the surplus is, 50% of the taxes from the oilsands goes to other governments," she pointed out. "And 40% of the jobs."

She calls it a "shared-wealth component."

There's another reason for Dion and other eastern provincial governments to keep their hands off Alberta's economy.

"Even though on the face of it, Alberta has a surplus," the finance minister said, "we've been responsible for a large part of the strength of Canada."

But Liberals don't see it that way, they see it as a way to gain votes in Quebec and Ontario. What happens if they kill the energy industry with their green shaft? How will Ontario and Quebec be better off when those manufacturing orders from Alberta stop coming? PM Harper is right, it's a crazy plan to screw our economy.

Who Is The Bigger Security Risk?

Funny how the Liberals have been railing against Bernier and calling Couillard a security risk, but nothing is said about Khawaja, now on trial as a suspected terrorist!

Did you know he was on contract with the foreign affairs department in 2004 when he was arrested? I sure didn't!

So, I ask you, who is the bigger security risk? Khawaja or Couillard? The Liberals have asked for a public enquiry into the Couillard affair, not a whisper about suspected terrorist Khawaja working for the foreign affairs department when they were in government.

What is wrong with the foreign affairs department? They have been leaking like a pregnant woman in her ninth month, they hire a suspected terrorist, and they leak emails that impact the US elections, they need to be investigated and the Liberal moles found and fired. The whole department is starting to stink. I know that Conservatives like to give the benefit of the doubt to public servants, but this department is getting out of hand.

Further to Khawaja, he used the Liberal government to help plot mass murder.

OTTAWA - Momin Khawaja secretly used his Department of Foreign Affairs e-mail account to plot the mass murder of hundreds of Britons in the name of radical Islam, court heard on the opening day of the Ottawa man's landmark terror trial.

The plot included possibly unleashing high explosives at London's most popular nightclub, Europe's biggest shopping centre and utilities in and around the British capital in 2004, according to the prosecution.

"Massive destruction and loss of life" would have resulted, Crown attorney David McKercher said in his opening statement.

Massive destruction and loss of life, and this guy worked in foreign affairs? Funny how CTV fails to mention that in this article. They feel free to pillar Bernier over a girlfriend though.

I think the Liberals have their priorities all messed up. They hire suspected terrorists, and that's okay, but a Minister who has a shady girlfriend needs a full public enquiry? Get real! Or, as real as you can with your phony outrage about phony scandals!

Liberals Corrupting Democracy!

One of the most dysfunctional Parliamentary committees has been the Ethics committee, chaired by Liberal MP Paul Szabo. This is the committee that went on a witch hunt against Mulroney, and came up empty, even though they actively pimped themselves to Schreiber. Now they are trying to shut up the Conservative MP's on that same committee.

It's one thing to be partisan, but that should not be allowed to corrupt a Parliamentary committee. If Dion was any kind of leader, he would talk to Szabo and straighten him out. That's not going to happen because Dion is clueless, and has no control of his own MP's.

Brought to you by an email from a reader of this blog! Thanks! I had not bothered to watch the Friday edition of QP until my friend alerted me to this very important issue.

Funny I posted about being censored yesterday, and now we find out that Liberals are subverting committee members.

Content Inappropriate!

You might know this blog for the "Best of QP.." videos that I do. Sometimes I do other videos on topics that interest me. Like yesterday I did a video on PM Harper and his comments that the Liberals were "screwing" all Canadians.

Seems a funny thing has happened to 2 of my 71 videos, all of a sudden, they have been rejected as "content inappropriate". Care to guess what topic they were on? No! Not porn, that would be the day. If you guessed FREE SPEECH, you would be right!

I had no clue that these videos had been rejected, no notice from Youtube. Thankfully a concerned reader, "rottendrew" emailed me and told me one of them had been banned, so I looked at all the videos and this is what I found:

Funny, both videos are about Ezra Levant and HRC's. Both have been rejected as "content inappropriate". So it seems that someone is targeting videos with Ezra's name, either in the title or in the labels. Someone is hi-jacking free speech!

I do not know who alerted Youtube about those two videos, and Youtube never sent me any notification that they had been "rejected". My account is still in "good standing", with no warnings showing. So, what gets a video rejected? Here's the rules:

As far as I can figure out, this is the section that got my videos banned:

We encourage free speech and defend everyone's right to express unpopular points of view. But we don't permit hate speech (speech which attacks or demeans a group based on race or ethnic origin, religion, disability, gender, age, veteran status, and sexual orientation/gender identity).

So they banned two videos that were about free speech in Canada, even though they state that they "encourage free speech". Someone appears to be targeting either Ezra, or free speech, or both.

Anyone who knows how I can find out who got those videos banned, please e-mail me. Or if you know how to get them "unrejected", I would appreciate the help.

I'm thinking of re-posting those videos under new titles like "Crazy cat tricks" or "Happy Summer Days" to see if they also get banned. (If someone from the HRC's or CIC are reading this blog, have fun searching my account all you want, I just might have a friend who will repost them, without using Ezra's name. How are you going to be able to search out all the possible Youtube accounts for videos like "My dog chasing his tail"?)

This is serious, it appears someone is targeting free speech and Youtube is caving in to their demands.

Oh Dear, The PM Uses BLUNT Language!

Now you all know I do not allow swearing on my blog, so, I am about to break my own rule for the sake of freedom of speech. I want to warn you, do not let your children watch this video, it is deeply disturbing, our PM uses "blunt" language.

If you are from Alberta, you will be very very shocked. So, (taking deep breath) PM Harper mentioned......the NEP! There I said it! National Energy Program! It is a dark reminder of a period that Albertan's will never forget, and it has reared it's ugly head again, because of Dion's carbon tax. Well, you watch it then tell me how disturbing this is....I had a hard enough time making this video, so the least you can all do is watch it and tell me what you think.

See what I mean, even thinking about the NEP gives me the shakes. (or do I need a beer? HA!) I also noticed that PM Harper said the Liberal carbon tax would "screw all Canadians" not just Albertan's this time. May my fellow Canadians never be made to suffer through NEP II, especially if it is not confined to Alberta, this time it would hit Saskatchewan, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and BC hardest. Add in Ontario and it's auto/manufacturing sector, not to mention agriculture and all rural areas, the list is endless.

For the love of Canada, don't be sucked into the Liberal carbon tax, it's a wealth transfer disguised as an environmental program. I call BS!!!

Friday Funnies: Play Pals

Sorry for the previous post, autism dog in training hit a key that published my post before I was ready! Smart little girl!

Fifty Dollars is Fifty Dollars!

Morris and his wife Esther went to the state fair every year, and every year Morris would say, 'Esther,I'd like to ride in that helicopter.'
Esther always replied, 'I know Morris, but that helicopter ride is fifty dollars, and fifty dollars is fifty dollars'
One year Esther and Morris went to the fair, and Morris said, 'Esther, I'm 85 years old. If I don't ride that helicopter, I might never get another chance.'
To this, Esther replied, 'Morris that helicopter ride is fifty dollars, and fifty dollars is fifty dollars.'
The pilot overheard the couple and said, 'Folks I'll make you a deal. I'll take the both of you for a ride. If you can stay quiet for the entire ride and don't say a word I won't charge you a penny! But if you say one word it's fifty dollars.'
Morris and Esther agreed and up they went. The pilot did all kinds of fancy maneuvers, but not a word was heard. He did his daredevil tricks over and over again, but still not a word.
When they landed, the pilot turned to Morris and said, 'By golly, I did everything I could to get you to yell out, but you didn't. I'm impressed!'

Morris replied, 'Well, to tell you the truth, I almost said something when Esther fell out, but you know, fifty dollars is fifty dollars!'

The Pastor's Ass

The pastor entered his donkey in a race and it won.

The pastor was so pleased with the donkey that he entered it in the Race
Again, and it won again.

The local paper read:

PASTOR'S ASS OUT FRONT.

The Bishop was so upset with this kind of Publicity that he ordered the
pastor not to enter the donkey in another race.

The next day, the local paper headline Read:

BISHOP SCRATCHES PASTOR'S ASS.

This was too much for the bishop, so he ordered the pastor to get rid of
the donkey. The pastor decided to give it to a nun in a Nearby convent.

The local paper, hearing of the news, posted The following headline the
next day:

NUN HAS BEST ASS IN TOWN.

The bishop fainted.

He informed the nun that she would have to Get rid of the donkey, she sold
it to a farmer for $10.

The next day the paper read:

NUN SELLS ASS FOR $10.

This was too m uch for the bishop, so he ordered the nun to buy back the
donkey and lead it to the plains where it could run wild.

The next day the headlines read:

NUN ANNOUNCES HER ASS IS WILD AND FREE.

The bishop was buried the next day.

The moral of the story is... Being concerned about public opinion can
bring you much grief and misery . . Even shorten your life.

So be yourself and enjoy life.

Stop worrying about everyone else's ass and you'll be a lot happier and live longer!

PM Harper: Frankly Dear Opposition!

PM Harper was his usual honest self yesterday when answering questions. This is his off the top of his head response to what the government has done this session. Sandi over at Cruz of The Matter should like this one, it contains many of her "list of accomplishments.

PM Harper also goes after the bankrupt opposition, and their fake scandals! Blast away!!

I want to thank CTV for putting this video on their website. Dion's carbon tax shaft made all the headlines yesterday, but this video was almost totally buried. In my small way, I hope to bring it into the light! Enjoy.

Liberals In LaLa Land!

Well the gloves are off. PM Harper called the carbon tax crazy, and to add insult to injury, he called the opposition Liberals, bankrupt intellectually! Too funny! He was really upset with the opposition today. I don't blame him, the opposition is useless.

Dion is making things up as he goes. Now everyone can expect monthly cheques to reduce heating costs, that's what Dion said! He also told Alberta to grab our wallets because we are the problem in this country. Dare he even appear in Alberta this summer? NEP II? That's going to go over well. Our carbon taxes would go to Quebec because they are lucky enough to use hydro power? Not going to happen Dion.

I think PM Harper respects Jack Layton because he has some intellectual brain power, Dion not so much. Watching Dion's interview with Mike Duffy, it was painfully obvious that he just doesn't have any political instincts, and he actually looks like Kermit. (Also never trust a man who has no upper lip, and a weak chin. Hey that's why he looks like Kermit!)

Good job by PM Harper! He gave it to the Liberals with both barrels, no holds barred. Notice how most of the MSM didn't cover this in the news? Not only are the Liberals in LaLa land, the MSM has joined them!

This Little Tidbit Is Being Ignored!

Everybody is talking about the carbon tax, whether it will be revenue neutral or not. But this little tidbit is being ignored, and it's a huge tax grab. From page 40 of the Liberal green plan:

So, they will impose a tariff on all goods not being carbon taxed. Sounds good, now those goods from China will not have a price advantage when entering Canada. They will be taxed on entry.

Let's step back and look at how tariffs work. I know this is boring, but most people think tariffs are good for domestic consumers and producers, not true, consumers lose. Here is a really good article on the softwood lumber tariff, it clearly shows that both countries lose, that consumers lose, and the only ones who gain are governments.

The Economic Effect of Tariffs

In almost all instances the tariff causes a net loss to the economies of both the country imposing the tariff and the country the tariff is imposed on.

Impact to the economy of a country with the tariff imposed on it.
It is easy to see why a foreign tariff hurts the economy of a country. A foreign tariff raises the costs of domestic producers which causes them to sell less in those foreign markets.
....

The Effect of Tariffs on the Country Imposing Them
Except in all but the rarest of instances, tariffs hurt the country that imposes them, as their costs outweigh their benefits. Tariffs are a boon to domestic producers who now face reduced competition in their home market.
...

There are costs to tariffs, however. Now the price of the good with the tariff has increased, the consumer is forced to either buy less of this good or less of some other good. The price increase can be thought of as a reduction in consumer income.

Since consumers are purchasing less, domestic producers in other industries are selling less, causing a decline in the economy.

What this means is that the Liberals are hoping to tax us through a carbon tax, AND impose tariffs on all goods not already carbon taxed in their own country, raising the price of those goods and making the consumer pay more at home. Dion also mentioned a cap and trade system.

We lose with the carbon tax, and we lose with the tariff. Who wins?? The government.
This is exactly what PM Harper stated today, any politician proposing a tax, is just trying to fill government coffers. This needs to be restated over and over until the consumer gets it.

Best of QP: Shift Happens To Liberals

How many Liberal MP's are now scared for their jobs? How can they sell this carbon tax to their supporters, much less none supporters? How many marginal Liberal ridings are there that will now go to the Consertatives? A tax is a tax no matter how you dress it up, and with Garth as their spokesperson, the Liberals are in big trouble. Watch and see if you agree.

The whole thrust of QP today was Liberals bringing up their phoney "scandals" and the Conservatives attacking the carbon tax.

Note to Liberals, you have cried wolf too often, and now Canadians have tuned out.

On The Eve Of The Great Carbon Tax Swindle...

I just want to know if I get extra money back for being green! On my way over to the Liberal site, which I haven't ever visited before, I made the mistake of typing in www.liberals.ca, and arrived at this site, too funny! Make sure you click on the "Donate to Liberals" button!

So "shift happens" and I deleted the s, and made it to the real Liberal site, in search of the 50 tips on a greener living. I wanted to see how I would measure up to say, Al Gore! HA! Make the Liberals think this is a really popular list by clicking here.

My question to the Liberals is, if I'm really green, do I get extra money back from their "tax on everything"?

Here is my green life, I bet I have Dion and all other Liberals beat hands down, so show me my money! Better yet, leave my money in my pocket, not Suzuki's.

1. I have a solar panel called a south facing window. I keep the blinds open so the sun can blaze in and heat the house. In February, I roll two portable greenhouses (GASP) up to that window, and start all my flower seeds. No special grow lights needed.

2. I have a new 95% energy efficient furnace.

3. I have a new water heater, also energy efficient.

4. I have four 50 gallon water barrels to collect rain water.

5. I plant a veggie garden. Peas, potatoes, beans, cucumbers, carrots, cabbage, zucchini, green onions, tomatoes, dill, oregano, beets, raspberries, nanking cherries, all on a city lot.

6. I have two composter's in my garden.

7. I compost even in the winter.

8. I pickle the left over beets and cucumbers.

9. I make pasta sauce from the tomatoes.

10. I make chemical free wine from the raspberries.

11. I bake my own bread and perogies. (anyone need the starter for Amish friendship bread?) Chemical free!

12. I recycle, reuse and regurgitate.

13. I do most of the 50 tips on a greener living, does Dion??

14. I conserve paper by blogging.

I could go on, but I think you get the picture. So, why should I pay a carbon tax? Shouldn't I be exempt like the big oil companies? (Dion is not going to tax gas.)

I also hear that they are going to impose a tariff on imports. So much for NAFTA. A tariff is paid by domestic consumers, with the government pocketing the tariff money, nice tax grab Dion!

The Liberals fail to understand people's desire to live an environmentally friendly life. You see, we all do as much as we want, to be eco-friendly, we do not want to be punished for our good behaviour, and that is exactly what Dion's tax grab is going to do. It punishes everyone on everything, no matter what you do to be eco-friendly. The great carbon tax swindle, is just that, a swindle to take from the average Jane, and give to Suzuki, so he can tell us how to do what he himself does not do. Don't buy this garbage.

Best of QP June 17: A Slaughter!

The Liberals try to take on the Prime Minister on economic issues, and they get slaughtered. No wonder they have been sticking to made up scandals! I called the opposition weak yesterday, but they are like drug dealers, always looking for the next victim.

The test for all of us should be what we do, not just what we say. The Conservatives are passing bills, thanks to the Liberals, that just might change our society so that victims matter.

One of the victims that Liberals like to ignore, are the Jewish people. They give them lip service, to get votes, but when it comes to supporting them, silence. They are too busy like Coderre marching with the Hesbollah.

This is clearly shown in question period by the newly minted Liberal MP, Martha Hall-Findlay, who praises Louise Arbour as a champion of human rights, while ignoring her many slurs against Jews. Funny that Arbour lectured at Osgoode, the same place that gave us such misfits as the sock puppets who have brought Steyn and MacLean's in front of the HRC's. Birds of a feather I guess.

Does Arbour deserve the high praise by the Liberals? Nope, but don't dare call them on it!

In 2006 during a trip to Israel and the occupied territories, Arbour initially refused to meet with the families of the kidnapped Israeli soldiers, Eldad Regev, Ehud Goldwasser, and Gilad Shalit, but later changed her mind following a media furor and accusations of bias.

More recently Arbour has been accused of acquiescing in the Ugandan government's "forcible disarmament" campaign against the Karamojong minority, in which rape, torture and mass killing are widely reported.

And this is the Liberals hero? Shame on them. Good for Toews for standing up and stating very clearly what a disaster this woman has been to human rights throughout the world. I agree with Toews, she is a disgusting example of who the Liberals praise.

Widely Leaked Report?

Funny, just a few days ago, I did a video on this leak.

Khadr report tabled in Ottawa
OMAR EL AKKAD

Globe and Mail Update

June 17, 2008 at 1:48 PM EDT

GUANTANAMO BAY, Cuba — A widely leaked house subcommittee on the Omar Khadr case was officially tabled in Ottawa on Tuesday, one day before the detained Canadian is set to appear in a Guantanamo Bay courtroom for the ninth time to resume pretrial hearings before a U.S. military commission.

The report's first recommendation is that the government of Canada demand the immediate termination of the U.S. military commission's proceedings against the 21-year-old Canadian.

Widely leaked?? WHO leaked it?? It's just presented as a "oh, by the way, this was widely leaked", no biggy. Watch the video if you haven't already done so, it is a big deal!

So, who leaked this document? Who broke parliamentary rules to get a favour from a journalist? Liberal moles appear to be infesting the foreign affairs offices. Why isn't this the story?

Best of QP June 16: Useless Opposition.

The Bloq is just there for the pensions, the Liberals don't even show up, and when they do, they sit on their hands, and the NDP still wants a Canadian prison in Afghanistan. All are out of touch, all are useless.

The Conservatives attacked the Bloq, the Liberals and the NDP today. The opposition had nothing new, they looked and acted weak. I have a sneaky suspicion that the Conservatives had an internal poll showing their support rising. I suspect their ads against the carbon tax are working.

Personally, I'm getting tired of the opposition bringing nothing to the table, and I suspect that other Canadians are feeling the same way. Now, the Conservatives need to come out strongly against the HRC's, and solidify their Conservative support. I ask PM Harper to remember that he was against the HRC's years ago, and they have only gotten worse since then. If even the Toronto Star has come out against them, it should now be easy for the government to justify getting rid of section 13.

When I hear someone talk about PM Harper, I still can't believe that he is the head of this country, maybe it's time for Conservatives to realize that the opposition is weak and fast tracking Martin's bill to axe section 13 is not as politically dangerous as they fear. What are the Liberals going to do, vote against their own member's bill?

The opposition parties are useless, let's use that fact!

The Bear Facts.

Well, it seems global warming/cooling is causing some urban dwellers some unexpected encounters of the wildlife variety.

A heavy snowpack from this winter lasted late into the spring in the mountains bordering Vancouver.

When temperatures rose rapidly, many of the region's bears came out of hibernation at the same time.

"Usually, due to the weather, the bears will come out gradually," said Trudgian. "This year it got warm all at once ... We're getting calls all day long in the last little while."

Conservation officers estimate their bear-related workload is double normal levels.

The late rise in temperatures means wild berries, a food source for bears, are ripening later this year as well, Trudgian said.

So, long cold winter, heavy snowpack, late berries, equal hungry bears. Maybe we should send them over to Suzuki's house, I bet he has some bugs he could feed them. Meanwhile in Ontario.....

Residents were told to stay inside their homes but curiosity got the better of some of them who gathered on the street to watch officials close in on the animal.

"I was in shock," said resident Tom Kakamousias. "I couldn't believe it, I thought it was a dog at first. It looked at me, I looked at it, I looked at it again...I went to open the door and it took off."

Selby said bears are rarely seen in Durham region.

"I have no idea where the bear came from," he said. "He's a wild bear and they're hungry after hibernation. They travel far distances (looking for food)."

John Pisapio, a biologist with the Ministry, said the bear probably got lost looking for food.

"That bear had no interest in being here," he told CTV Toronto. "It probably found its way from the north and then got lost and then had no way of finding its way back to the north."

Looking for food? Shouldn't there be plenty of berries with global warming happening all around us? Colder weather, late berries, heavy snowpack, but that's weather, not climate, or so we are told by the econuts. Count me in as a denier. Today, was the first nice day we have had so far this spring, my garden is slower this year due to the cold, rainy weather, so I can sympathize with those bears.

Liberals Being Liberals!

This is about a bill to restrict loans for candidates. The Conservatives, NDP and even the useless Bloq all support it, the Liberals don't, wonder why? HA!

They try to blame everyone but themselves. It's the fault of the Conservatives, George Bush, the NDP, and the dog named Kyoto. They are in a snit because this bill will make it illegal to get money from family and big business, Power Corp comes to mind, in a campaign. Dion and other candidates might have to declare bankrupcy to make their debts go away, unless Elections Canada shows their bias and let's them off the hook. Dare they? I think yes, they are like the HRC's, they have the power and know how to abuse it!

Interesting mention of Belinda, why did she run for the Conservative party leadership? She is and always has been a Liberal, so were they trying to buy their way into the Conservative party, to destroy it? Guess they don't understand Conservatives, we can spot a phoney from miles away. What a bullet we dodged on that one!

The Liberal whining is par for the course, it's just Liberals being Liberals, and loving it!

Creating Urban Reserves!

It struck me while reading this article, that we don't just have Indian Reserves that are money sucking pits, but we also have urban reserves, in the name of "public housing", that have the same problem. What is the one thing that they both have in common? Lack of personal ownership. When the federal, or in the case of public housing, the city, owns the properties, you get inefficient management, leading to massive cash infusions needed to keep properties, that no one cares about, especially the tenants, in living condition.

Public housing on the edge
City agency, faced with latest shootings, laments lack of funding to improve rundown unit

Trouble is a habitual visitor in Toronto's public housing communities and, despite efforts by residents and housing officials, these neighbourhoods are getting worse.

The city's aging, rundown and outdated supply of as -sisted housing for poor and struggling families have long been viewed as magnets for crime, drug dealing, violence, domestic assault and alcohol- and drug-fuelled violence.

So, gun killings are the fault of rundown public housing? I get it, fix the housing and the gun play will stop. Let's ban public housing, lefties should like that, they love banning things.

Don't get me wrong, I want to help people with low incomes, recent immigrants and especially disabled people who need special living quarters. So, I propose that the rent they pay goes towards ownership of those public housing units. That they become responsible for keeping their apartment in repair, with part of their rent going towards maintenance like any condo organization. Give them pride of ownership.

Urban reserves for the poor (Layton comes to mind) can become real communities that the people live in with pride. One word, OWNERSHIP.

Nothing To Do? How About A BBQ!

The BBQ season begins for our politicians, can't wait for Dion to come to Edmonton and sell his carbon tax. How do you have a carbonless BBQ? You can't serve beef, methane gas. How about beans, same problem, except human produced gas, not cow produced. Can't use propane or natural gas, guess it will be wood burning fires roasting iceberg lettuce and don't forget the watermelons, perfect for econuts!

It looks like it's going to be a beautiful day in Edmonton, perfect for a short drive to a real BBQ. The Edmonton-Leduc Association sent a newsletter out stating that a free BBQ is being held today from 12-2 at the Discovery Well in Devon, intersection of Hwy 60 and Hwy 19. It's all people in the riding, Conservative or not. Seeing as MP James Rajotte will be there, I think I'll take my two growing stomachs out there (saves on our food bill!) and see if I can't pick up some feel for what people are thinking about some of the issues, like HRC's.

Plus, it's FREE food, what Conservative can resist that! Not saying we're cheap, just frugal. HA! Now, out you all go, no sitting inside and wasting a beautiful day!

Friday Funnies: Idiot Quote Of The Century!

Last night, my friend and I were sitting in the living room and I said to her, 'I never want to live in a vegetative state, dependent on some machine and fluids from a bottle. ............... ......
If that ever happens, just pull the plug.'

She got up, unplugged the Computer, and threw out my wine.

She's such a b*(ch....

Best Of QP: Leaked Confidential Document!

Not by Bernier, this was a confidential document leaked to the media, by someone on the Foreign Affairs Committee. (Foreign Affairs AGAIN!!! This is getting to be a pattern.) This is a serious breach of privilege, but not a whisper about it in the press, they are too busy yapping about Poilievre, who has apologized. Here is the article:

MPs want Khadr returned home
Canadian Omar Khadr, accused of murder and terrorism, is being held in Guantanamo Bay. Jun 11, 2008 04:30 AM
Tonda MacCharles

"The subcommittee believes that Omar Khadr should be considered a `child involved in armed conflict' and afforded the special protection outlined" in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, which Canada signed and ratified, says the report.

The report says there's no indication that Khadr's age "has been sufficiently taken into account" in the American-led military commission proceedings against Khadr in Guantanamo Bay.

It also cites the May 23 decision by the Supreme Court of Canada that the Guantanamo Bay military commission proceedings were found by the U.S. Supreme Court to violate American domestic law and international human rights obligations to which Canada is party.

So, how does Tonda know what's in this confidential report. Who leaked it to her? She even has the resolutions:

After hearing from 18 witnesses in six hearings, the subcommittee will ask the government to:

Demand an immediate end of military commission proceedings against Khadr.
Formally object to the U.S. government's declaration it reserves the right to detain Khadr as an "enemy combatant" even if he is acquitted or if proceedings are halted.
Demand Khadr's release from U.S. custody into the custody of Canadian law enforcement "as soon as practical."
Ask the federal director of public prosecutions to investigate and, "if warranted," prosecute Khadr for offences under Canadian law.
Take any measures necessary to ensure possible security concerns upon his return are addressed.
Take "appropriate measures" to rehabilitate and reintegrate Khadr consistent with Canada's international obligations to deal with child soldiers, and consistent with Canadian law.
Ensure any rehab program for Khadr places judicially enforceable conditions on him "to the extent necessary."

This is clearly a government document she is quoting from, so was it leaked? Notice that the date is June 11, 2008 and she states the committee will not vote on it until June 12, 2008. Watch the video, every party in the House agrees that it was leaked.

So, who leaked the confidential document? Who does the Toronto Star shill for? I bet you are wondering who's on this committee. So was I, so here's the link to a list of potential leaker's (Yikes is that a word?). First we have the sub-committee who did the report, all on paper, no emailing.

Subcommittee on International Human Rights (SDIR)

Then we have the main committee. Funny how the minute the report was released to this committee the leak occurred.

Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development (FAAE)

So, who is the skunk in the woodpile? The main committee is quite a long list. Further, who talked to the Toronto Star, I think computers of members should be locked down and the RCMP called in. This is far more serious than the Bernier issue. This is the conscious decision of a Member of Parliament to leak a confidential document to the media.

What is the media doing? Why can blogger's scoop the media? If I was a reporter, I would be all over this.....but, the media? Cue the crickets.

So You Wave To Them As They Board That Little Yellow Bus...

And wonder if they will learn what they are supposed to, if they will excel, or just fumble along, will they make good lifelong friends, will they like their teachers, will their teachers take the time to understand them, you can only hope and help.

You watch them grow from babies into teenagers, and you try to be there for them, no matter what happens. You let them make more of their own choices as they mature, watching. Then, they make you proud as can be!!!! WTG SON!!!

We just got back from my oldest sons "Spring Band Concert", and tomorrow we get to see him graduate from grade nine. Heady times for him. Me, not so much.

What made me so proud of him tonight is that he had a solo part playing the trombone, with the jazz band. So what you say? Well, it's important because my family loves music, but NO ONE, can play any instrument of any kind, so he's a first. He was asked to join the jazz band, and he made the decision, on his own, to go ahead and try it. It paid off in spades tonight. You made me very proud Stretch!!

Remind me to take kleenex for tomorrow's graduation.

He's Coming To Canada.

Who are the "Canadian Press"? They sure aren't unbiased reporters of the news. Take this article for example.

McCain coming to Canada for free trade speech

The Canadian Press

OTTAWA -- Canada appears destined to be dragged into the centre of the U.S. presidential debate once again.

Republican presidential nominee John McCain has sought and received an invitation to Ottawa to give a speech next week on free trade.

The Vietnam war hero's presence in Canada's national capital and his choice of subject matter is bound to revive controversy over the so-called NAFTA-gate affair, which embarrassed his Democratic rival, Barack Obama, earlier this year.

Oh, poor Obama, he might be embassassed. Cry me a river of crocodile tears. Doesn't McCain have a daughter living in Canada? Wouldn't that be nice to mention?

Tattersall said the club has checked with three historians and, as far as they can tell, this will be the first time a U.S. presidential nominee has come to Canada mid-campaign.

Oh, so he's making a special trip to reassure Canadians that he will not mess with a trade agreement that provides 80% of us with jobs, and this is a no-no because noone else has ever done that before?

McCain's choice of topic and venue is unlikely to be coincidental. Even if the nominee himself makes no mention of NAFTA-gate, the planeload of American reporters travelling with him will undoubtedly make the link, prompting yet more grief for Obama.

His appearance may also provoke some additional awkwardness for Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

How many times can you mention NAFTA-gate in one article? Why should it provide any awkwardness for the PM? We have the big stick when it comes to free trade, it's called oil!

For Harper, any reminder of the sorry episode is bound to be awkward since it originated with his own chief of staff, Ian Brodie.

Brodie told some CTV reporters during the budget lockup that it was rival Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton whose team had signalled she had no intention of following through on her tough talk about renegotiating NAFTA. While Brodie apparently got the candidate wrong, his comments set reporters on the trail of the story, which eventually led to the leaked memo.....

....Harper, determined to prove his government was not intentionally interfering, ordered Canada's top public servant, Kevin Lynch, to conduct an inquiry into the leak.

Lynch cleared Brodie and Michael Wilson, Canada's ambassador to Washington, last month. He blamed Foreign Affairs bureaucrats for disseminating the memo too widely to maintain secrecy.

They finally at the end of the article get around to stating that NAFTA-gate, was the fault of foreign affairs. Funny how those Foreign Affairs bureaucrats keep popping up. Could they be stirring the pot, first with Brodie and then with a Minister of the Government? Are they a little too powerful? They remind me of the Human Rights Commissions, over stepping their bounds to keep the little kingdom they run safe from Canadians. Someone's head at foreign affairs needs to roll. Or maybe, we should FIRE THEM ALL.

The Apology!

Excellent job by all parties, except Duceppe, what an egghead. As our fastest growing segment of the population, Aboriginals are one of our most precious resources. They can prevent us from massive immigration, they are our hope for the future.

This apology was a way to heal our country, great job PM Harper! I was going to do a video to preserve this day (might still, but today I don't feel like it), but the MSM is doing a great job of covering the event, except for our taxpayer funded CBC, they are debating who gave the better speech.

What do I know about this issue? Not much, except for a few First Nation's people I know, I have nothing to go on except first hand reports from them on life on the reserve.

What have they told me? Life on the reserve stinks. The Chief's reward only their family and friends and by the time they get done with the money, nothing is left for the other members. The chances of any none family member to the Chief, getting a house is close to nil, and no opportunities for real work exist. This is life today on a reserve, democratic self government exists, only to find out that the newly elected are just as bad as the old guys.

Best of QP: Weasel Words!!

Two issues today, the Conservatives hammered the Liberals for using weasel words to disguise a TAX. Second, the Liberals shrilled really, really hard for someone. What Chief is holding the Liberals hostage? What Chief is expecting something for delivering the Aboriginal vote to the Liberals? See what happens when you pander to the special interest groups, you end up owing them, or in other words, you are owned by them.

The Liberals pretend to be concerned about the apology to Aboriginals, but watch as PM Harper finally after a week of questions, names the name, that Liberals didn't want named. So, if the Liberals bow down for this group, what must they do for other special interest groups? Who owns Dion? What group picked up his debt markers?

Most importantly, the Liberals can not stop the media attention PM Harper is going to get from the apology. So who are they counting on to come out with negative comments, who wanted the PM's speech early, and why? Who will the MSM run to for a negative story? We shall see tomorrow, but I suspect the PM has already named the culprit.

If We Wiped Out The NDP, Greens, And The Bloq...

How would you vote? IF we only had the Conservatives and Liberals to choose from next election, how would you vote. This is a question asked by Harris Decima in their latest poll. Seems that's the only way they can get the Liberals to come out ahead.

How does CTV report this?

Electorate leaning towards Liberals: poll
Updated Tue. Jun. 10 2008 8:47 AM ET

The Canadian Press

OTTAWA -- A polarized electorate may be tilting toward the federal Liberals at the expense of Stephen Harper's Conservative government, a new poll suggested Monday.

The Canadian Press Harris-Decima survey compared attitudes toward the Tories and Liberals in a head-to-head, two-party format. The telephone poll of just over 1,000 Canadians found that 44 per cent of respondents said they'd prefer a Liberal government after the next election, compared with 37 per cent who preferred the Conservatives.

Misleading? No Kidding!!! We hear time after time from Liberals, only 36% of Canadians voted for the Conservatives, so 64% voted against them. At 37% the Conservatives have actually picked up a point, and the only way Liberals will get 44% is if they wipe out the other lefty parties.

Since the 2006 election, the Conservatives "have not been able to enlarge their tent," said Harris-Decima president Bruce Anderson - notwithstanding a generally strong economy, fat government coffers and the incumbent's opportunity to control the agenda.

"If anything, the leaning and the second-choice support profile of Canadians is disproportionately headed in the direction of the Liberals right now," said Anderson.

Hello Anderson, we have one right leaning party, and 4 lefty parties, so any second choice HAS to be left leaning. Then we have this little gem:

Read how the question is worded. "Do you think the Liberal party is a lot better, a little better, there is no difference, the Conservative party are a little better, or the Conservative party are a lot better in each of the following areas."

Notice how for the Liberal party, is a lot better appears first, for the Conservatives, a little better is first, why the different order? Why not this question? "In each of the following areas, are the Liberals or Conservatives, a lot better, a little better, or there is no difference." Remember these results are after wiping the NDP, Greens and Bloq off the map.

NDP supporters told Harris-Decima they'd prefer a Liberal government by an almost four-to-one margin (69-18) compared with the Tory alternative, and Green supporters favoured the Liberals more than two to one (58-28).

Only Bloc Quebecois supporters were more favourable to a Conservative outcome, by a 41-32 margin.
I'm shocked!

My last point, when you go to the actual survey results posted by Harris Decima, they breakdown the 3 week average graphs in this order: National, Quebec, Ontario, Atlantic, BC. Do you see the problem? I see the problem. What the heck happened to the Prairies???? They dissappeared Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta, who just happen to vote Conservative. Nope, no bias here.

So not only did this survey wipe out the NDP, Greens and Bloq, they also wiped out Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta! After all the wiping out, the Liberals are at 44% and the Conservatives are at 37%. What a dishonest survey. Harris Decima should be ashamed of themselves.

Suspended, Now My Kid Is Cool?

I get a call at work... your son has been in a fight, he seems to have bitten a kid, and has been suspended! Yikes!

I tell my office mate I have to run, kid has been in a fight, she laughs, been there, done that last month. I meet my boss in the parking lot, explain why I'm leaving work early, her response, been there, done that! They both have boys. What is it with schools and suspensions?

I rush to pick up our autism dog in training from her school and go to pick up my youngest, grade six, now suspended son. He's a pitiful sight, sitting in the principal's office, eyes red from crying. I just wanted to hug him, he looked so tiny on that chair. I knew I couldn't because we would both be crying then.

I go to him and ask what happened? The principal tries to butt in, but this is between me and my child right now. Long story short, he got mad at his best friend who was name calling, tripped him and bite him on the shoulder, no blood thankfully, and he has apologized to him. (Now I'm trying hard not to laugh, okay, okay, I know he might be a serial killer because of this, but really it is funny now that I know it was fairly minor.) He has been suspended for half a day, and may come back to school tomorrow.

Then the principal gets her two cents worth in. "Have you ever bitten anyone before?" My kid answers honestly, "Yes, my older brother". Principal goes into a rant about "anger management problems", "it's not in his record", blah, blah, blah. I get my kid out of there.

POINT: What use is suspension? He gets to go home and do nothing, or even play on his computer for the rest of the day. Why didn't they sit him in a room and give some extra math homework? Sending him home was a reward!

The buddy he bit, phoned him as soon as he got home, rumours were that he was suspended for two weeks. The principal just made him a hero in the other kids eyes. He gets to wear the "I've been suspended" badge for the rest of the year. He's now a badass to the other kids!!! Not at home he isn't. What don't the schools understand, suspension means the kid is now "cool"?

Anyways, his older brother came home, told him biting was for girls, and the biting problem is now solved. It will not happen again, not because of the principal talking about anger management, but because his older brother pretty much called him a girly guy.

Kids!! You got to love them!

Best of QP June 9: Slackers Unite!

Yup, the opposition united and voted against a 26 year tradition today. They voted against working harder.

All slackers united to make sure Conservative bills will not get passed until the fall, even Belinda showed up for the vote!!! Hey Belinda I hope you show up for really important bills, like C484, the bill that makes hurting a pregnant woman a crime against both the woman and the wanted baby. And where did you go for the confidence vote on the budget?? Thought so. What a bimbo. I shudder thinking that she might have been elected as the leader of the Conservative party.

So much for lefties working to make this Parliament work. They get paid good money by us to work, but they would rather be seen at union rallies then in Parliament. The opposition is obstructing the government, not working to make Canada a better place for everyone. This disgusts me to no end.

So, today the slackers united to prove a point, and keep their pension funds growing. They don't want to work for taxpayers, they prefer to play games. Shame on them!

Slackers unite, my grade nine kid has a tee-shirt like that, you would think Parliamentarians would rise above that level.

They Said It First!! Gas Tax!

I usually don't watch CTV's Question Period, but a comment from Fay on a previous post, made me look into it. Was I in for a shock! They started off showing the new Conservative ad, then quickly forgot all about it, in their discussion of....wait for it.....the Liberal GAS TAX!! Yup, I have the evidence.

They start by saying that Dion has promised it won't be a tax on gas, but by the end, they were all calling it a gas tax, not a carbon tax. They also mentioned that it might be both a carbon (GAS) tax, and cap and trade (another tax). Even these Liberal cheerleaders couldn't spin it positively for Dion. I think they were broadsided by the ads, and their actual non-spun attitudes came out in the interview. It was very telling, but I'm sure the Liberal spin machine will be fixed by tomorrow and they will all be back on script. You can see the whole interview, here.

But, they said it first, GAS TAX! I'm not making this up, I'm not allowed to! HA!

Will You Be Taxed?

The new ads made me laugh. They will be effective, no matter how loudly the Liberals complain. Are they upset? Just go to the Globe and Mail and read some of the comments, they are even funnier than the ads.

Here are some examples of how shrill the Liberals are going to get:

Ricky for a Centrist Canada from Canada writes:
Why does the government, when there is no election in sight, find the need to directly attack the leader of the official opposition?

Painting Dion and the LPC as commie tax-and-spenders is ridiculous - just as ridiculous as painting Harper's Cons as wanting to see the planet die.

So why are these ads - directly attacking a sitting MP, party leader, and leader of the official opposition - necessary?
I fail to recall another government in Canada's history that spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on politically attacking a member of the House in this way.

Is this the PM we want with a majority?

Oh, but it's okay to attack the Prime Minister of Canada on the Cadman affair, he's fair game, but poor little Dion should not be attacked with his own policy? And no, the GOVERNMENT is not paying for the ads, Conservative supporters of the Conservative party are paying for the ads.

Barry Johnstone from Canada writes: Who cares? The only thing the attack adds do is give us insight into the spiteful nature of Stephen Harper. I would vote for a baboon before I would vote for Harper!

That's the level of intelligence we get from lefties. What about the level of intelligence we get from the Globe? This comment says it all:

Dave Snow from Calgary, Canada writes: Isn't the Canadian Press supposed to engage in"objective journalism"?

"Sneering radio ads."

"Even though they haven't seen the blueprint."

"Just the latest media salvo from the cash-flush Tories."

"Snidely portray Mr. Dion's environmental program as a trick."

"Even though Mr. Dion has explicitly said his carbon tax won't apply to the retail price of gasoline."

This reads like an op-ed in a Liberal-friendly newspaper, not an objective fact briefing. Deplorable as the attack ads may be, they should be panned by columnists and editorials - not by the Canadian Press.

And people wonder why conservative-minded Canadians consistently accuse the media of left-wing bias?

Couldn't agree more.

When you go to the willyoubetricked site, take the quiz, it's under the header of "Will you be taxed". I took the quiz and scored 10 out of 10! Nice! That means I get taxed on everything.

Will this ad campaign be successful? At a time of raising gas prices, the high dollar, and auto layoffs, you bet it will. It will hit the average Canadian right in the gut. Just wait and see what happens when the carbon tax hits BC in July! It's not going to be pretty, especially for people on pensions.

Immigration, Refugees Or Skilled Workers?

The opposition parties have been lambasting the Conservatives for wanting to fast track skilled workers into Canada, but passed the bill anyways. So, how do Canadians feel?

It appears that Canadians, and especially people in Quebec line up with the Conservatives not the opposition on this issue.

CPAC had Nic Nanos do a survey about immigration, and people want immigrants with skills first, then family reunification and last refugees, which is the opposite of what we have now.

Here in Alberta, we need skilled workers, and immigration can help if done properly. I think a joint business/government alliance could work really well. Let the businesses do the headhunting and hiring. Let the worker in on a six month or year working visa. If the worker does their job, allow them to apply for citizenship and bring their family to Canada. Makes sense to me, they are already working, they have a year to adjust to being in Canada, and they prove themselves to be good qualified workers. This way the companies get exactly who they need, and the government doesn't have to do as much on the file. If the worker doesn't work out, back to their country they go.

We get a skilled worker, and reunify a family in one step. Instead of the government trying to figure out whether a worker has the proper qualifications, the employer does that for them. Bureaucrats will not like this idea, because they will become obsolete.

But, before all this will work, can we please get provinces to agree that a gas fitter from Quebec can go to work in BC without having to re-qualify for their gas ticket? BC and Alberta have now signed an agreement to that effect, would it be too much for other provinces to sign on? Or are Ontario and Quebec too busy with their cap and trade money laundering scheme?

The Human Side The MSM Ignores!

We all hear about what a "bully" PM Harper is, the media makes sure to paint him that way. Here is a very good article about Laureen Harper and her run for breast cancer. Wonder if we will see anything about this the media tomorrow?

Pitching a tent with Mrs. Harper
'Team 24' Members

OTTAWA -Gaining access to the inner sanctum of the Prime Minister's residence takes persistence, impeccable connections, or, in my case, extreme klutziness in the pursuit of a noble goal.

That is how I ended up in the family kitchen of 24 Sussex this week after running into a pole during a training walk for a charitable fundraiser with Laureen Harper, who kindly rushed me inside to tend to my (self-inflicted) wounds.

....This morning, Mrs. Harper and the other 12 of us on Team 24 (named after the Prime Ministerial residence) will join more than a thousand people on a two-day, 60-kilo-metre walk around Ottawa for the Weekend to End Breast Cancer Walk. The Prime Minister's wife will camp overnight in a large field along with hundreds of others, make do with the portable washrooms along the route, swap stories and conversations to pass the time, and endure blisters and sore feet for a good cause.

Read the whole article, it gives a nice prospective on Laureen Harper and just how ordinary the Harper family really is, a Tim Horton's family. If the Conservatives want to get the female and family vote, they should show more of the Harper family. Ben going to hockey, Laureen on her bike, their cats, Rachel playing with school buddies, and the family together at some non-official functions. The media wouldn't like that though. They have worked too hard to demonize the Prime Minister, and it just wouldn't do to have a lighter side of the PM shown to us average Canadians. So don't expect to see any coverage of this race tomorrow that shows Lauren or 24 Sussex with the PM waving in support.

The MSM doesn't want to show the "human" side of the PM, they ignore anything that makes him look good to voters. Such petty little people.

Best Of QP: Free Our Farmers!

PEI, what were you thinking electing this guy. Wayne Easter appears to be a nice guy, but nice guys finish last! He's in way over his head.

Lot's of good Friday funny stuff! What is not funny is the Canadian Wheat Board. It is a ball and chain around the necks of our farmers, holding them down, jailing them for simply wanting to get the best price for their wheat. The opposition will not vote to allow our western farmers choice. That's disgusting. They rant and rave about equality for women, but for western farmers, nope, they want them chained to the CWB. WHY?

If eastern farmers can sell to the highest bidder, why not western farmers? Are eastern farmers scared that they will lose money if this happens? Is Quebec worried that this might be the end of supply management? Come clean, why can't western farmers have freedom?

I think they should make this bill a confidence vote, that's the only way it will pass, and if it doesn't, to the polls we go!

Free our western farmers!!

Best Of QP: Dion Is Clueless!

Dion thinks he's going to be the next Prime Minister. I'm serious. He honestly thinks he has a chance at the golden ring. Watch the tape, he thinks he is scoring points because the Liberals get up and clap. Pssst Dion, they are just trying to save their own jobs.

PM Harper is on stride again, he even gives Layton a boost. (Take the hint Layton) With three lefty parties, how can Layton win more seats? Funny as it sounds, by supporting some of the government bills. They have also kept out of the scandal mongering, that's why their numbers are going up. If they keep on pandering to only their far left voters, they will have a hard time gaining more seats. Try moving into the center left which Dion has abandoned. Your greeny bill is useless, and everyone knows it, it makes your party look stupid.... hold it, oh never mind.

The Conservatives have it right, don't just target GHG's, target real pollution, you know, the stuff you can actually see, not like the non-pollutant CO2.

Once again James Moore shows his maturity, honesty and integrity during question period.

Lastly, the CWB is from the Trudeau era and needs to be updated, but the bureaucrats will fight the Conservatives to the death to keep their little kingdom. Provincial governments need to step up and take the power of the wheat board away. Come on Stelmach, you're a farmer, get going. This one issue ticks me off big time, eastern farmers can sell to anyone, but western farmers are supposedly too dumb to sell their own wheat to whoever gives them the best price? I hate monopolies, like the CWB.

Dion wants to impose a carbon tax, this will affect our food, and heating our homes, it's a bad idea, by a clueless leader.

Lefty Media In Full Cry!

The Globe and Mail is leading the way, with the CBC close behind. Day after day, the Globe prints an anti-Conservative article to get their comment section going. Witness this article from yesterday, comments are still not closed even though more than 800 commenter's responded. Who reads 800 comments? If you care to read those comments, most are by lefties slanting the story as fast as they can type, it shows their desperation. I bet the Globe comments section is one of the most popular, problem is that does not necessarily translate into increased sales. Watch for comment sections to get random advertising pop-ups!

Here's another anti-Conservative article. And another. Go read them if you want, but why bother? Same stuff day after day gets boring. Pay for that if you want, but you can read it online, and comment too, it's two hits for free!

Now, the taxpayer funded CBC should also get some light shed on it, thanks to Reid! This is a must read post! It shows the bias of CBC's Don Newman, proof positive that Canada's non-profit plastic surgeons should not be used for face lifts.

Is all this blustering by the opposition and media reaching the average Canadian? NOPE! How do I know? By the conversations at work, nobody is scandalized by Bernier, they have no clue who he is, and they don't care. The media is shrilling for the Liberals, with no effect. Why? No one is listening to them anymore.

You can only cry wolf so often.

Best of QP: Cadman Tapes Tampered With!

So, I take a day off and go golfing, and Cadman makes a reappearance. Seems the tape was tampered with. Didn't the PM warn the Liberals more than once that they would be sorry if they kept up that line of questioning? Didn't he ask them to remove libelous material from their site? Was he forced to sue them for libel because they wouldn't listen? Yup. The chickens are coming home to roost, and no matter how the MSM tries to spin it, the courts will now decide.

Other than Moore's statement, the PM has a few good ones, like telling Canadians Dion is not fit to be PM. It appears the gloves are off, and the government is not going to take it anymore. It's about time.

Without a new "scandal" the Liberals have nothing to foam at the mouth about. They have NO understanding of the economy or they would not be wanting to impose a carbon tax on Canadians. They are busy trying to emulate Europe, as Europeans are rioting against carbon taxes, not fuel prices like the MSM like to pretend. How will a carbon tax benefit auto workers Dion? Or seniors on fixed incomes? Explain that in your policy platform. Once again the Liberals are caught pandering to special interest/immigrant groups, this time it's the eco-nuts, who love biofuels while people starve.

Expect Dion to unannounce, the not yet announced, carbon tax before it is officially announced. HA!!!

Best Of QP, June 3, D-Day For Dion

Well, it's deadline day for Dion and friends. Will they pay off their debts, or will Elections Canada show their bias and give them a free ride? Elections Canada is in a lose, lose, position, and it looks good on them.

Give the Liberals an extension, it makes the Conservative party lawsuit that much easier for them to win. Don't give the Liberals an extension, their buddies are in deep doodoo. What will they do? Which is the lessor of the two evils?

Don't miss Monty giving the best response I have ever seen to a question by Alexa, it was hilarious! He skewers the Liberals, Bloq and NDP all in less than 30 seconds. He needs to do that more often. Actually all Conservative MP's have got to stop tippy toeing around. Give back as good as you get, because you have to know that the media isn't going to give you any help.

Canadians are not tuning in to politics, they are not talking about it at the watercooler, they are not going to tune in until an election is called. In the meantime, the Conservatives can use the summer break to get aggressive with policies like crime issues. So far, the media is leading the agenda, a perfect example is the lack of coverage of PM Harper's European tour, try finding any TV coverage. If you do, post a link.

The main issue today was not the tired Bernier "affair", it was the deadline for Liberal debts to be paid off. So, Dion, who are your wealthy sponsors that you now owe? Who is pulling on your leash? We already know that Rae is owned by PowerCorp, who owns Dion?

It's D-Day Dion, fess up!

Tribunals......

Creepy. Did the HRC's pick that name to intimidate people who come before them? Are we back into the witch hunting days? The guys in the judge suits appear to have power, and they drowned and burnt enough supposed witches to make people scared of them. Is that what is happening again? In this day and age?

Mr. Fine wants us to believe that the HRC's are for our own good. HA!! If you like oppression and the stomping of freedom of speech, this guy is for you! I do not need to be told what I can or can not say.

Mr. Fine believes that:

There can't be enough laws to deal with these issues...bet he wants to ban guns too. Typical lefty, no plan, no morals, just blind faith that Liberals know best!

Jane Taber Stuck On "Progressive"

For Jane, it's all about being "progressive".

Months ago, the provinces got together and most were pushing a "cap and trade" system in Canada, Alberta said NO, we already had one within Alberta, for Alberta, keeping Alberta taxpayers money in Alberta. Well, without Alberta to suck dry, the issue went away, until now. Ontario and Quebec are starting a "cap and trade" system between themselves. I say good, now Ontario can send what money they have left to Quebec. Does McGuinty not understand that Quebec has hydro and Ontario has dirty coal? Jane thinks this is "progressive". I think it is McGuinty being in over his head.

So Ontario will buy credits from Quebec and both "have not" provinces will feel better. According to Jane, this is "progressive". Well, you can take your "progressive" and enjoy! This is Kyoto lite, Canada style. Ontario gives to Quebec, and gets hot air credits in return. Seems regressive not "progressive", but Jane had to refer to her notes so often, I'm pretty sure she has no understanding of the issue. Jane, don't they have a gossip section at the Globe and Mail?

This is a money sucking scheme, except it is Quebec sucking the money from Ontario. No news there.

As an Albertan, I was really ticked off by Jane's, well it's only Alberta brushoff. You sanctimonious latte sipping lefty. Ontario ships it's garbage to the States, Victoria dumps raw sewage into the ocean, but Alberta has the most wind turbines of all provinces combined, and we are forcing oil companies to pay into research development, but Alberta isn't doing enough? Get real. Ontario and Quebec GOOD, Alberta BAD. CTV stuck on dumb, isn't that "progressive"!

Western provinces get together and talk about increasing trade. Ontario and Quebec get together and develop a money transfer scheme.

Jane Taber thinks this is "progressive".
