So, I was watching some of the videos I have captured of question period, and it appears that the bully boys have been after Helena since 2009, way before the Rahim arrest. Can we call it targeted assassination of female Conservative MP's abilities yet? Here are a few samples:

It is clear that the opposition target female Conservative MP's. They had it in for Helena and the media are continuing to follow the Liberal lead and smear her no matter what the evidence might turn out to be. Personally, as a female, I am disgusted.
The Iceman, has the goods on the reason the charges were dropped against Rahim, it seems the police DENIED him his right to talk to his lawyers, a very big no no.
No wonder females don't go into politics. Why leave your children just to get smeared by the bully opposition.

Manbridge broke the story on the bobbled arrest. They arrested Rahim and took him to the station. He was informed that he had the right to legal counsel, and he made his phone call. It being the wee hours of the morning, Rahim's attorney did not answer the phone, but very quickly received the message and repeatedly called the police station. The cops told Rahim's lawyer that he couldn't speak to his client because they were performing the tests that he was supposed to receive counsel for!
The RCMP screwed up big time! My question is why did Rahim accept the plea? He could easily have been acquitted. It almost seems like he wanted to pay a penance, and that taking it to trial would damage his wife's political career.
I seem to recall Marlene Jennings saying to the Prime Minister in the House of Commons on this arrest (alleging a backroom deal to circumvent the judicial process) "is this what the Prime Minister means when he says I get by with a little help from my friends, I get high with a little help from my friends?"
I am awaiting her apology with baited breath...
Liberals favour more women MPs as long as they are the right kind of woman (Liberal). The gutter crew of Jennings, Bennet and Neville target conservative women with vicious personal attacks. According to Liberal webs, Jennings was once a consultant on womens issues in Quebec It is up to Iggy to put a stop to this and raise the level of civility in the opposition. Untill he does, the actions of these Liberals alienate large numbers of Canadian voters.

Actually, it was the OPP who arrested Jaffer, wasn't it?
And yes, Jaffer may have been trying to avoid the media circus surrounding a trial.
