Atlantic Canada can determine whether the Conservatives get their majority or not. It is your time to shine! Don't let us down. We only need 9 seats, Newfoundland has 7 and PEI has 3. Being realistic, if we get 3 from Newfoundland and 1 more from PEI (please get rid of Wayne Easter, he makes PEI look bad), that only leaves 5 from the rest of Canada. We are working hard in Edmonton to take back the only NDP riding in Alberta, so there is 1 more, leaving 4 to go.
PEI voters showed up to support PM Harper and the Conservatives. I don't know what the media is going on about when they say Harper is angry, watch this and see him, at ease and having fun.
Quebec is moving towards the Conservatives, so even if we only hold the seats we have there now, it's a win. Ontario is a key province, and something I found really interesting was this poll result:
Vancouver 41.6% CPC 29.0% LPC
Calgary 52.7% CPC 22.3% LPC
Toronto 40.9% CPC 34.8% LPC
Ottawa 38.4% CPC 43.8% LPC
Montreal 16.2% CPC 25.9% LPC
Toronto is at 40.9% supporting the Conservatives, and only 34.9% for the Liberals! THAT IS HUGE! Think about it, the only Liberal strongholds left are Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal. Vancouver is at 41.6% Conservative to 29% Liberal...OUCH! The only hope left for the Liberals is Montreal, and even that is shaky. Funny how the media missed those little details! HA!
I know the polling pundits are saying that Ontario and BC are critical, and they are, but Atlantic Canada can deliver a Conservative majority if they want to, and I hope they do.
I remember the 2006 election. It was the first time I volunteered and got involved in the actual election, I was ticked at the Liberals for stealing our money. This election is starting to feel the same way, but this time I am ticked that the opposition think they can take over the government without winning the election. It might be legal, but it stinks to high heaven.
This time PM Harper is openly asking for a majority, and Canada needs to get behind him, starting with Atlantic Canada, flowing to Quebec, Ontario, the Prairies, BC, and the Territories. The wave of support starts in the Atlantic, on election day send us here on the prairies a message, send us the majority the PM Harper deserves. We will be happy if our votes end up being a "Me Too" vote!
This is not a media election, even though they are trying their hardest to get us to vote for the Liberal coalition. This is an election for Canadians, by Canadians. This is an election where we decide whether we want a stable majority Conservative government, or a coalition government ruled by the losers.
It starts with Atlantic Canada, don't let us down, we have faith in you.

The Opening Of Pandora's Box Has Occurred!
Lots of experts and reporters, are saying the coalition is dead, and that Canadians can relax and go back to the business of ignoring politics. But, the stink lingers on in the minds of voters, and it's not going to go away anytime soon. I expect it to rear it's head again next election, not just with political parties and ads, but in the minds of Canadians, we almost lost our most precious right, the right to vote and for that vote to be heard.
The MSM is working hard to make it seem like it was all PM Harper's fault, but that's not how voters are going to remember it. I remember being shocked with the naked power grab the three parties tried to impose on Canadians because it was "constitutional". I remember thinking that they can not do this, to me, they can not erase my vote, so it became personal.
That was the big miscalculation of the coalition, funny, for once they went with facts, and were shocked that Canadians reacted emotionally, when usually they are the ones that use emotion to make their points. It backfired, badly.
The opening of Pandora's Box has occurred. Every voter going into the polling station from now on, will ask themselves, "will my vote count, or will a coalition government wipe it out"? It was bad enough when people were voting only on party lines, but now they will be voting for or against a possible coalition government.
This issue is far from dead, it lives and breathes as a whole new idea that Canadians must consider from now on. It will be sitting in Parliament during question period. It will be sitting on opposition members shoulders, egging them on. It will spark arguments in committees that the opposition already rule. It will continue to smell bad to Canadian voters no matter how hard the MSM tries to cover it with a rosy gloss.
What amazes me, is that the opposition in a minority government, already holds the balance of power. They can bring any minority government down, at any time. They can vote any bill they don't like down, they can introduce their own bills and get them passed, like they did with their Kyoto bill. They already have the power to band together, at any time they want. Plus, they have the advantage in the Senate. They have the aces in their hands and they think they are twos. There was NO politically sound reason for these parties to band together, except for power, to get they hands on the till of Canada, and drive it into the ground, planting only bad seeds that never germinate, or if they do, they are a hideous, misshapen representation of democracy.
So why the need for a coalition? Why were they in such a hurry, after only 6 sitting days of Parliament to bring the Conservative government down by forming this coalition? Do they hate PM Harper so much that they risked this coalition with separatists?
I think the answer is yes, but it's not just PM Harper they can't stand, it's reform MP's that especially send them into spasms of indignation. They could see their parties reduced influence and that power had to be grabbed back quickly. Dion had nothing to lose, he was already a goner, but if he could have pulled this off, what a glorious rise out of the dung heap, into the PM's seat that would have been! ALL LIBERALS supported this move, with visions of sugar plum jobs dancing in their heads. New leader Iggy has not yet given up on Dion's vision of power, he has NOT ruled out a coalition in the future. The coalition is still stinking up the joint!
Let's be clear, the Liberals, NDP, and Bloq banded together to try and take power. Pandora's Box has been opened. Never again will Canadians think that their vote counts, as they intended. The coalition threat has been released, and will be used again. It is inevitable.
Canadian voters now understand that their vote is truly precious, and must not be taken lightly, because it can be misconstrued by political parties into something they didn't mean.
Pandora's Box, once opened, can not ever be shut again.

Let's Get Real Here.
We know the NDP and Bloq have made some agreement to take down the Conservative government. It appears they are using the weak link Dion to bring the Liberals into the mix. If I was a Liberal I would be outraged that the socialists and separatists kept their agreement secret. Who has the "hidden" agenda now?
The Liberals have been played by the two weakest parties in parliament, they knew Dion was a ready made patsy, and they have played the Liberals like a sour sounding violin. The socialists and separatists are like wolves in the wild, they sense the weakest member and attack.
The Conservatives need to get back to their membership.
- eliminate taxpayer funded party funding.
- no bail outs for inefficient industries.
- lower taxes.
- get rid of the human rights commissions.
- stop trying to appease the opposition, they will never be happy.
- stick to your principles, people are wanting direction.
- understand that Quebec will never be happy no matter how much you give them.
Conservatives won a larger minority not because they bowed down to the socialists, but because they refused to cater to special interest groups. They lost Quebec not because they didn't do enough for them, but because they did too much, no one likes a suck up. Ignore Quebec, they might respect you more for it.
Conservatives need to get real, and stop being scared to fight for what they think is right. Lefties, with the help of the MSM have defined Canada for too long, it's time we took back our country and gave the coalition the big boot in the butt.
As a Canadian, an Albertan and an Edmontonian, I care about my country, and this idea of a coalition makes me steaming mad, they are erasing my vote because they don't like it.
I have never seen such an atmosphere of hate as I see from the Liberals/Ndp/Bloq, this is not just about different ideals, it's about out and out rage against Conservatives, when Scott Reid talks about killing our PM it becomes a very serious matter. He might not do it himself, but he has definitely given someone the idea.
I will fight against this unholy trinity because my kids need a stable country to grow up in, and I hope there are some liberals who understand that Canada is being held hostage by separatists and socialists, if you join with them, you care not for Canada.

The West Is Ticked!
Boy did Roy Green from AM770 CHQR do a number on all three of these guys (okay Libby is a gal). Here is a commercial free edition for your pleasure. Make sure you listen to the last two segments, the listeners give some very good commentary. Thanks to frmgrl for the link, it starts at 12:00 and goes until 2:00, well worth the listen. Libby Davies gets smacked down good.
After listening to it, my feeling is: The west is ticked, really, really ticked!
We have also been hearing endlessly about how the Conservatives only got 38% of the vote and therefore 62% did not vote for them, this apparently justifies a coalition government. Not so fast there buddies, let's have some fun with numbers. I remember taking a course in university where we were shown how to lie with statistics, the opposition seems to have taken that course as well.

So, looking at the results, the Conservatives clearly were the winners. Now for the fun with math!

So, what we have failed to do, is take into account that the opposition are adding up the popular vote numbers and forgetting to divide by 3 or 4. Remember that only one party can win a seat, so popular vote doesn't mean dick if you don't win! For example, let's look at Ontario's numbers:

The Conservatives got 2,019362 votes, the lib/grn/NDP got 3,091044 combined, so if we divide their vote by 3 we get 1,030,348 for their coalition. Now, that's fun with the numbers! Face it, popular vote means nothing if all parties are running candidates.
How did it work out for Green May? The Liberals did not run a candidate, so according to their logic, she should have won because all Liberal voters would then vote for the coalition candidate, right??? Wrong.

Peter MacKay won with 18,239 votes, May came in second with 12,620, and that is without a Liberal candidate running. In order for May to have won, the NDP would have had to axe their candidate, and even then only if all NDP votes went to May, would she have won.
In order for a coalition government to have any chance, they have to run only one candidate in each riding, potentially eliminating the NDP, Green and Bloq candidate so a Liberal could win. Are the other parties willing to disappear so that the Liberals can get back to the trough? I don't think so, but it would be funny to see the fight over who runs a candidate where.
If this coalition of the hopeless wants to win, they better not ignore the west, and I don't just mean holding a convention in Vancouver. Now, won't that be funny, are the NDP, Greens, and Bloq now invited to vote for the new Liberal leader? That would really show the GG that they truly are a coalition!

Paul B.
Seems a lot of people on here have limited math skills. Yes, if you add up how many votes Libs-Dippers-Greens-Bloc received, it is more than the Conservative's.
Now this is where your math is flawed. Conservative's ran 308 candidates. The wanna-be coalition ran more than 970, so, ya, sure they would receive more votes.
Funny no one used the same argument when the Canadian Alliance and Progressive Coservative's ran in the same elections, getting a combined vote of more than the Liberal's.

What Gives You The Right....
To decide that the elected governing party is wrong, and you are right?
To decide that Canadians didn’t really mean to elect the Conservatives again?
To tell us that we would be happier with a coalition government because only 38% voted for Conservatives, therefore 62% want your coalition government, when no one gave you enough votes to run the country?
To give separatists a bigger roll in government, when they want to break Canada up?
To subvert a duly elected government of Canada because you don’t like the fact that you lost?
To destabilize our stock market and economy because your feelings are hurt?
To feed at the public trough, without any accountability?
To make my vote and millions of other votes worthless.
To think taxpayers owe you money because you deserve their support?
To try to rule when we told you, we rejected you, and your parties?
To arrogantly assume we really wanted you to run Canada, and just somehow didn’t vote for you?
To assume we are all as unhappy with PM Harper as you are, because you are blinded by your hate?
To impose your “values” on me even though I have different values?
To impose a PM of your choice, not the people’s choice, on us?
To destabilize my country at a time of economic turmoil?
To ignore the voters in the west, and directly cause the rise of separatism in the west?
What gives you the right to think that you know best, and that we voters are ignorant, uninformed peons that need you to guide us out of the darkness. What if we think lefties are the darkness and have no morals, no plan, and no scruples? What if we think that you are the disease that needs to be erased, eradicated, and excised from our sight? How dare you try to think for me!
What gives you the right to force a coalition government on a freedom loving Canada. Who gives you any rights? The voters. In your rush of hate, you have forgotten the voters, and their desire to climb out of the dungeon of socialism into the light of conservatism.
You forgot the most important element of democracy in your rush to fulfill your own desires, you forgot the average Canadian voter. You forgot decency, desire and one little detail, what the average voter wants.
In your arrogance to push forward your agenda, you forgot that the voters want the Conservative agenda. Beware the rise of the silent majority, beware the rise of the west.

Turning Their Backs On Canada!
That's what all opposition parties are doing. They are putting their own parties before real Canadians, before Canada. During question period, they were all more interested in the funding cuts to their parties than the help offered to retired seniors. Watch the video and pick your PM.
Every single opposition leader was opposed to funding cuts to their parties, even BEFORE the economic update had been presented, how disgusting is that? I'm sure Green May was up in the rafters shouting down at the Conservatives as well, thank goodness, we didn't have to hear that noise. So what are the options?
1. Economic update passes.
2. Economic update fails and we go to an election.
3. Economic update fails and the opposition forms a coalition government.
The question is, which one of these options would Canadians accept? The opposition better get past their partisan thinking and look further than the noses on their faces or the taxpayers money in their pockets.
Personally, I think there will be 12 opposition members mysteriously missing for the vote. Hope the opposition count right, because if one Conservative member is not there, they might trigger options 2 or 3 without realizing it.
Looking at the three options, I'm okay with any one of them, but I do hate campaigning in the cold! I'm sort of secretly pulling for option 3, just for laughs, but then I would be just as bad as the opposition, who are turning their backs on Canada for political gain.
