Eco-Nuts And Our Governments!

I wonder how our governments got so side tracked on fighting actual pollution. We used to be concerned about polluted lakes and rivers, smog was a big problem, but that's all changed, and our governments at all levels are forcing us into stupid programs that cost us extra money and do nothing to actually clean up pollution.

Case in point, those squiggly bulbs that contain mercury, are legal, the old fashioned bulbs with no mercury are soon to be illegal. Who is going to profit from this change, GE for sure, they can charge more. How safe are these new bulbs? Here are two bulbs that recently burnt out in our house. Look closely at them.



Notice that the one on the left has been burnt, also notice the black smoke residue on the bulb. Safe?? No, it's actually very scary! The other bulb has a tiny bit of smoke residue as well, so that is two for two. A clear fire hazard, but because it is supposedly eco-friendly, we have to live with them. We also have those two bulbs hanging around because of the mercury, they can't go into the landfill. How many people just toss them out with their regular garbage? Right, probably 98%.

On the municipal level, we have an uber-lefty on city counsel that wanted us to only idle our cars for 3 minutes. So, in 40 below weather, we would only be able to warm up our cars for 3 minutes then we would have to drive them. Idiot, your windshield would be frosted up! He also is proud that the only thing he did before getting elected was to set up a plan to make all university students pay for those who ride the bus. Socialism par excellence!

At the provincial level we are finally getting some response to the Alberta Bashing that Ontario and Quebec did in Copenhagen.

One of Mr. Morton's jobs will be to inform Ottawa that Alberta is unwilling to continue paying billions of dollars into the equalization program at the same time it struggles to get its own budget back into balance.

"Our contribution -- this last economic downturn, the worst year since the 1930s -- was well over $21-billion and that cannot continue and we have to have that discussion in Canada," the Premier said after unveiling his new Cabinet.

This is a smart move by Stelmach, putting Morton in charge of the budget. We will have to see how that turns out. If Morton fails, Stelmach can blame him, but I suspect that voters will just switch to the Wild Rose Alliance. We are too far away from an election to predict anything yet.

What I do know is that Alberta better fight back. Understand that no matter what we do for the environment, it will never be enough for the eco-nuts. So, stop trying to please everyone and start supporting our oilsands. Iggy supported them more the other day than our own Premier ever has, and that needs to change, or voters are going to send a message next election.

Okay, let's just kill our economy. Really, why go down slowly being suffocated by all those green bags, let's just agree with the eco-nuts, slit our wrists and bleed our economy to death.

Hey, that's another compare and contrast! China or Alberta? Who is polluting more, you decide.

The Canadian government, long criticized by environmentalists for not doing its fair share to fight against catastrophic climate change, has said its top priority at the Copenhagen negotiations is to ensure there are "commitments from all major economies" - a reference to countries such as India and China that have said it's unfair for them to stem their economic growth to deal with climate change caused largely by western economies.

Yikes, catastrophic climate change....that's enough to scare me into.....wait a minute, where is the proof? I know a little bit about modeling, and I know that no reputable scientist can predict anything beyond the range of the data. In other words, if your data is weekly, you can predict the next week pretty accurately, but not what will happen next year.

In a submission to the UN earlier this year the Harper government declared more specifically that "all parties" at Copenhagen must agree to "establish, regularly update and submit in writing . . . a long-term national greenhouse gas emissions limitation or reduction pathway for regular review by the Conference of the Parties."

But Levi said major developed economies such as Canada should avoid demanding specific emission commitments and instead work toward a "bottom up" strategy that seeks clear agreements that allow countries like China, India, Brazil and Indonesia to obtain western assistance to adapt their economies in a more environment-friendly way.

Double yikes! Levi is all for a wealth transfer from developed nations to his friends bank accounts. That is what this is, a wealth transfer scheme, notice that Levi never uses any actual DATA to support his assumptions.

"It is controversial enough to suggest that a country like India, with about 5% the per capita emissions of Canada, should take binding targets - especially given that Canada is openly walking away from its own commitments," Saul wrote in an e-mail.

"But to suggest that India should accept absolute emission targets is in another world. It leads one to think that this government is actively trying to undermine the negotiations."

Triple yikes! Notice how the eco-nuts use PER CAPITA, as a justification for India and China to continue polluting? They have billions of people so PER CAPITA, they do not pollute as much as Canada. Do they really think we are idiots?

Look at the two pictures, who is polluting the most? In the age of the internet, we get to call the "experts" out. Show us your data, not your rhetoric. We want facts, not some journalist who only talks to his/her eco-friends.

The eco-nuts want to REDRUM our economy. I want the environmentalists to start talking land mass, and trees, not this PER CAPITA garbage. It actually let's China and India pollute more, because they have more people. It makes Canada the bad guy because we have more trees than any one in the world (hint: trees love CO2) but only have 30 million people. It's a total farce.

So After All The Lawsuits And Bad Jokes...

I took a drive, and got some fresh air, snapped a few pictures (Yes, those are buffalo!).

I'm tired of Alberta being made out to be the big bad polluter, that is ruining our children's lives. Seriously, I'm sick of it.

I know it sells well in Ontario and Quebec for the Liberals, but people in Alberta are hard working, caring, and generous. We are also conservators, we like our land, rivers, and air to be clean. Farmers are the best conservators of our land, they make their living off of it, why would they kill it? In fact most Albertan's I know have a deep connection to the land, not the concrete like in Toronto.

Years ago, we drove across Canada to PEI, with 3 dogs. We stopped by rivers and let the dogs drink that water in every province we visited except Ontario and Quebec. We would not let our dogs drink the brown, smelly river water, it was disgusting.
Manufacturing has killed rivers and lakes in Ontario, but Alberta oil sands are now the big bad polluters? We are "easy" targets for ignorant Canadians, who will blindly believe "big oil" with their "big profits" are responsible for all their problems. Bet most central Canadians don't even know that they get their "blood" oil from Arab countries, not from safe, secure, freedom loving, Alberta.

Dion came here and told us we were disgraceful. That went over well. NOT! He has said nothing about our 4 BILLION dollar plan to capture carbon and expand transportation. He's too busy deploring a lawsuit against his party. Environmentalists have also been silent, except to say, carbon capture might not work. Wait until we decide to build a nuclear plant up north, that should get them going.

So, how many smog days has Toronto had so far this year? Is Lake Erie still a "dead" lake? Just thinking, maybe Ontario and Quebec should get their own provinces in order before they slag Alberta. I really hate that the Liberals with their NEP II plan, have started the east/west argument again, it's disgusting.

Oh, and those pictures? I lied, they aren't from around Edmonton, although they could be, nope, they are from reclaimed land by Syncrude, up there at the nasty oil sands. But, Dion wouldn't know that, he never went there.
