When the police are given instructions to just keep the peace it puts them in a very bad position. If the police would follow the rule of law instead, maybe we wouldn't need 1 billion for security during the G8 and G20 summits. No assault from any side should be overlooked in the hopes of keeping the peace. They tried that approach in Caladonia, and it didn't work.
You can not make one group "more equal" than another. The police have had their hands tied in Ontario, and it makes them look bad. We need to look at who is causing all the security problems, and why no organization is ever made to pay up for damage done by protesters. Freedom of speech is not just freedom for one side of an issue. First Nations can protest, Tamils can protest, Palestinians can protest, econuts can protest, everyone can protest, what they can not do is cause violence, like this:
I'm glad Blazing Cat Fur didn't get hurt, but where were the police when that nut job was blatantly crossing the road to confront him? This guy is involved with the CUPE union? What a shock. It's not the right that are the problem, it is the left that protest and cause trouble, then they wonder why their funding gets cut. This protest came courtesy of Palestine House, funded by taxpayer money. Cut off the money, NOW!

You should arrange for a Press Conference and ask why your husband was not protected and an assault charge not laid?
Is this what Mayor of Toronto, Chief of Police mean by protecting the citizens from violence?
