Statistically Speaking, Crime Is Decreasing Or Not!

Or, that's what the "progressives" keep telling us. Now why don't I believe the statistics? I don't know, it might be stories like these:

Body in barrel retrieved from Toronto harbour

Edmonton teen charged with murder

Two arrested after fatal assault in Ontario

Family shocked at LRT slaying

Just look at these headlines:

Is it any wonder that 80% of Edmontonians don't feel safe?

Quote statistics all you want, but the reality is that we "feel" less safe than we did before. "Progessives" should be able to relate to that, because it's about "feelings". Here's a statistic, if 80% of Edmontonians think Edmonton is becoming more violent, that means at least 30% of those people must be "progressives", so who is kidding who?

Funny, when just a few long weekend campers drink too much and cause problems, they BAN drinking in the national parks, but when a few protesters torch a bank, and destroy property, they yell "freedom of speech" and nobody BANS them from protesting. Here's a clue, if they are covering their faces, they are going to do something illegal, why else would you cover your face? Make all the organizations that protest pay for the extra police services needed because of them, Ann Coulter had to pay for her protection. Why should the taxpayers have to pay for it? We are not out there protesting, we are too busy working. Any damage to any buildings should be paid for by the protesters, whether it is their organizations who did the damage or not. You protest, you pay.

The "progressives" have campaigned to BAN smoking, guns, and now drinking, but they want legalized marijuana, prostitutes, and protesting that might get violent (think of what they cost us in police services). Then they talk about their values being "Canadian values"? Are they really that delusional?

So you'd rather trust the sensationalist media, who are obviously going to report the most attention grabbing, sick, disturbing stories or the actual statistics. Yes crime rates are decreasing, perhaps because law enforcement has been getting more attention lately. A Conservative crime agenda is the best one, no doubt, but claiming that the media is more correct in its collective portrayal of the state of society is more accurate than statistics is silly.

This is just silly. You'd rather trust the media in all their sensationalism and innacuracies to bonafied statistics? The sort of news headlines you're referring to are put out there to satisfy the publics digusting cravings for morbid news stories. A Conservative approach to crime is, no doubt, the way to go but to deny the facts of the situation and to manipulate reality through the media lense certainly isn't.

Yes.

They are silent on North Korea treatment of their own citizens.

They turn a blind allies to China that uses their veto to protect rogue states like Iran or North Korea from sanctions or actions.

Hunter ... you been smokin' them per-ogies again? You can't be logical with laugh-tees especially when you ask THEM to pay for their entitlements!! You work, they play. You work, they protest. You work, they destroy. You work, they go to HRC.

How many can you carry before Atlas Shrugs?

:)

You know if you don't record half the crimes the crime rate will be down by 50%. For years the kids could leave their bikes in the back yard without fear of losing them. Now they are stolen out of a locked garage so often we don't even bother to phone the police.

I was in Vancouver last weekend and had my rear window smashed. A criminal that will never be caught cost me an extra day, $300 (my deductible) and the province (ICBC car insurance) $1000.

I learned a few things. Your car alarm will not be activated unless they open a door.

Thieves now have hand held devices that they aim at cars and if they illicit a beep it indicates that there are electronics in the car. It helps them to not waste time smashing cars that don't have anything to steal.

I had left my ipod in the car but fortunately it was buried under a bunch of junk and they would have had to open the door to access it.

The kicker is that this was done on the street right outside the bedroom window that I was sleeping in.

You wanna talk crime. How about the Alberta High School student who is not allowed to wear a kilt to his graduation! That is criminal!

You are persistent SQ, you wore me down, and I finally posted one of your comments, don't expect this to be a trend though.

I agree with you, the kid should be allowed to wear a kilt if he wants. Everyone else gets to wear their turbans, and knives, why not a kilt? Girls will love it!

BendtheBracket, I actually would like to believe the statistics, but too many crimes aren't even reported anymore.

WCT, not smoking the perogies, just eating them!

Joe, right on the money!

Sor, it is eye opening. My husbands truck was broken into, some clothes and an empty prescription bottle, with the suspects name on the bottle were left in the truck, and the police did nothing.

Meanwhile we are out $500 to get the door fixed, now that is a crime. Also Edmonton is making people who get graffiti on their property clean it up at the homeowners cost. This has to stop.
