Conrad Black To Take Over CBC!

Breaking News: In an attempt to clean up the biased CBC, the Conservatives have appointed Conrad Black as the new president of CBC.

Order of Canada recipient, Conrad Black will have his Canadian citizenship reinstated, after Chretien forced him to give it up in an act of sheer pettiness and envy. Once his citizenship has been reinstated, he will take up the reins of the floundering CBC.

Government spokesperson, Ida Truth, had this statement:

"The CBC needs to generate more revenue, and the man to turn it around is Conrad Black. He is a proven entrepreneur, with great experience in the media. We anticipate a bit of resistance from the CBC, because they are so used to relying on government funds, that they can't understand that real businesses can actually turn a profit."

Conrad Black could not be reached to verify the truth to the rumour, but it is anticipated that once he is released from prison on the trumped up charges, he will be more than happy to help restore civility and truth to the Canadian media.

When reached, the current president was unable to speak because he was too busy crying on Craig Oliver's shoulder.

The CBC is in shock that their little kingdom is now being threatened, and all the posters on their site are furiously trying to arrange a huge protest on parliament hill, so far 12 people have signed up and at least double that are expected to show up.

 

This might be the death of the biased CBC, and the true awakening of a new capitalist enterprise in Canada, one the fairly competes without government funds.

Expect more shouting, whining, gnashing of teeth, and hair pulling before a peaceful resolution is arrived at. The CBC will never be the same again! HA!

The Toronto Star is not fit for the bottom of a birdcage.  I earnestly look forward to the return of Lord Black to this country where he will certainly provide some spark to the discourse.  He has much to offer Canada. He should be asked to head the CBC so he might provide the necessary leadership to clean up that moribund organization.

Burka/Niqab Day For Parliament

I have said it before, and I will say it again, I want all MP's to wear a burka/niqab for just ONE day. Then honestly answer these questions:

Did you find it oppressive or freeing?
Did your personality change?
Do you think that anyone would actually "choose" to wear it, not just for a day but for a lifetime?
Did you feel isolated in public while wearing it?
Is this a good idea for Canadian society?

We are all familiar with the hijab, it's unoffensive but it does identify a woman as a Muslim. I have often wondered why Muslim males do not have to wear anything that will identify them as Muslim's but their women do, sometimes isolating those women. Is isolation the goal of Muslim men for their women? Sikh males wear a turban, Jews wear a yamulke, Catholics wear crosses, just to name a few, why don't Muslim men wear something to identify themselves as Muslim?  Or do they?  

I love the wonderful sari's that East Indian women wear! Colourful, beautiful, and modest. Why can't Muslim women wear clothing like this:

 

Notice, that the faces are uncovered. I have noticed that most East Indian ladies wear their sari's for special occasions, not as everyday wear, what they have done is assimilated into Canadian society without losing their "cultural" identities. I posted about making perogies the other day, even though I have never been to the Ukraine or Poland, my family has retained some of that "culture". Same for most people who immigrate to Canada, they retain parts of their "culture" and it makes Canada a much richer country. 

I hate to break it to the lefties, but all cultures are NOT equal and we need to tell the people who are immigrating here, what is proper and what we, as Canadians, will not abide. We need to celebrate our differences, but we need to be aware that some women are raised to believe that they can be beaten for not obeying their "betters", usually the men in their lives and their mother-in-laws.

Remember how the Japanese bound the feet of their women? Here is a bit of history on how that "cultural" tradition started and the video to go with the explanation:

Legend has it that lotus or lily foot slippers first appeared in China in the 11th century when Empress Taki was born with deformed feet. To save her future embarrassment, her father announced that only women with very small feet could be truly feminine and desirable. As a result women began to bind their feet. The tiny, virtually unusable feet were a mark of status, beauty, gentility and sexual attractiveness.
The binding process began at age 5 to 7 years old. Bandages were wrapped around the foot to bend the four smaller toes inward under the foot towards the heel until it resembled a half moon.The majority of young girls had their feet bound by their mothers. Binding a daughters feet would ensure she would be married and hopefully to a wealthy man. The intial process of binding the feet took just one night but the feet took years of pain to conform into the beautiful crescent shape. During a painful 2-3 year period, the size of the shoe was gradually reduced. The most highly desired goal being a size only three inches in length.
These silk shoes only measure 140mm (5½ inches) in length and 24mm (1 inch) in width...
Footbinding was horribly painful. In asking why women would do this we need to understand the history behind the practice. Then we can begin to answer our questions as to why a painful tradition would continue to exist for so long.

Thank goodness that "cultural" practice has been stopped. "Cultural" practices will only be stopped if we stand up against them. The refusal of Canadians to confront "cultural" practices we disagree with, because of multiculturalism and political correctness, is wrong. We need to be clear about what the Canadian culture will accept and what we won't. Remember, it's our country, our values and our laws, we do not have to adapt, immigrants need to adapt so they can fully enjoy all of our freedoms to the fullest.

It Takes A Woman....

To put things into prospective. I have read all the media "unbiased" reporters on this issue, but NONE have stated the issue, or lack thereof as well as this blogger, and she's a Liberal to boot!

I worked as a Ministerial aide for a few years, and even as a card-carrying Liberal, I cannot condemn the Minister for disagreeing with her public service advisors. Here’s why:

NB:
1. The “government” is Cabinet, made of of Ministers of the Crown. The public service, despite what the population thinks most of the time, is NOT the government.
2. Public service, or “ministry” bureaucrats, provide ministers with recommendations and analysis of options, but their long-term priorities (remember, governments come and go, the public service is forever) do not necessarily match the government-of-the-day’s priorities. What has happened to Min. Oda is a reflection of that.
3. Ministers also look at all decisions they have to make through a political lens. You might not like that lens, but they are the government and if you don’t like it enough, you cast your vote for the opposition in the next election.

Read the whole blog post, and leave her a positive comment. This is an excellent post, and states the facts without being partisan.

As a woman, I am upset about the whole Oda issue because all I see is a female parliamentarian being attacked for nothing. It has gone beyond the actual issue and has become a feeding frenzy by the opposition and the media. The use of the picture of Bev Oda standing outside and smoking was the final straw. To read comments about her wearing those sunglasses when she had to because of her eye surgery, showed me the worse in people.

The losers in this whole episode are those who viciously attacked an elected Minister of our country. Just because you have immunity to say anything you want in the "House", does not mean that you don't have to think about the person you are attacking. It makes you look like a$$holes for doing so. Bev Oda, is a person, with all the feelings you have, and to be verbally attacked in Parliament and by the media must be devastating for her. You won't even let her escape to have a smoke in private.

Not only do I expect the members of Parliament who have been attacking Minister Oda to apologize, I expect the media to apologize as well. The opposition has the job of opposing policies, it does not have the right to verbally assault anyone. It is juvenile and makes you look like weak little tyrants.

No wonder the female vote is shifting to the Conservatives. Maybe they feel safer with the Conservatives because they are supportive of families and not known to attack female MP's. The other parties seem to think it is okay to make stuff up and then hound a female member of Parliament. Minister Oda, and all the other Conservatives females should start wearing T-shirts with targets on them during question period.

It feels like the media is making this a game. A game of let's see how much power we have to influence voters, let's see if we can make the Conservative polling numbers plummet. This is not a game, Bev Oda is a person. As a female all I see is a female under attack by old white guys. Why is sexism still okay?

Best of QP June 9: Slackers Unite!

Yup, the opposition united and voted against a 26 year tradition today. They voted against working harder.

All slackers united to make sure Conservative bills will not get passed until the fall, even Belinda showed up for the vote!!! Hey Belinda I hope you show up for really important bills, like C484, the bill that makes hurting a pregnant woman a crime against both the woman and the wanted baby. And where did you go for the confidence vote on the budget?? Thought so. What a bimbo. I shudder thinking that she might have been elected as the leader of the Conservative party.



So much for lefties working to make this Parliament work. They get paid good money by us to work, but they would rather be seen at union rallies then in Parliament. The opposition is obstructing the government, not working to make Canada a better place for everyone. This disgusts me to no end.

So, today the slackers united to prove a point, and keep their pension funds growing. They don't want to work for taxpayers, they prefer to play games. Shame on them!

Slackers unite, my grade nine kid has a tee-shirt like that, you would think Parliamentarians would rise above that level.
