It Takes A Woman....

To put things into prospective. I have read all the media "unbiased" reporters on this issue, but NONE have stated the issue, or lack thereof as well as this blogger, and she's a Liberal to boot!

I worked as a Ministerial aide for a few years, and even as a card-carrying Liberal, I cannot condemn the Minister for disagreeing with her public service advisors. Here’s why:

NB:
1. The “government” is Cabinet, made of of Ministers of the Crown. The public service, despite what the population thinks most of the time, is NOT the government.
2. Public service, or “ministry” bureaucrats, provide ministers with recommendations and analysis of options, but their long-term priorities (remember, governments come and go, the public service is forever) do not necessarily match the government-of-the-day’s priorities. What has happened to Min. Oda is a reflection of that.
3. Ministers also look at all decisions they have to make through a political lens. You might not like that lens, but they are the government and if you don’t like it enough, you cast your vote for the opposition in the next election.

Read the whole blog post, and leave her a positive comment. This is an excellent post, and states the facts without being partisan.

As a woman, I am upset about the whole Oda issue because all I see is a female parliamentarian being attacked for nothing. It has gone beyond the actual issue and has become a feeding frenzy by the opposition and the media. The use of the picture of Bev Oda standing outside and smoking was the final straw. To read comments about her wearing those sunglasses when she had to because of her eye surgery, showed me the worse in people.

The losers in this whole episode are those who viciously attacked an elected Minister of our country. Just because you have immunity to say anything you want in the "House", does not mean that you don't have to think about the person you are attacking. It makes you look like a$$holes for doing so. Bev Oda, is a person, with all the feelings you have, and to be verbally attacked in Parliament and by the media must be devastating for her. You won't even let her escape to have a smoke in private.

Not only do I expect the members of Parliament who have been attacking Minister Oda to apologize, I expect the media to apologize as well. The opposition has the job of opposing policies, it does not have the right to verbally assault anyone. It is juvenile and makes you look like weak little tyrants.

No wonder the female vote is shifting to the Conservatives. Maybe they feel safer with the Conservatives because they are supportive of families and not known to attack female MP's. The other parties seem to think it is okay to make stuff up and then hound a female member of Parliament. Minister Oda, and all the other Conservatives females should start wearing T-shirts with targets on them during question period.

It feels like the media is making this a game. A game of let's see how much power we have to influence voters, let's see if we can make the Conservative polling numbers plummet. This is not a game, Bev Oda is a person. As a female all I see is a female under attack by old white guys. Why is sexism still okay?

Liberals NOW Support Mulroney!

Well it appears that the Prime Minister has called the Liberals on their fake support of Mulroney.

OTTAWA -- Prime Minister Stephen Harper waded into his party's internal spat over the treatment of Brian Mulroney on Wednesday, turning his verbal fire on Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff and reminding critics the former prime minister had "demanded" a public inquiry into his dealings with German-born lobbyist Karlheinz Schreiber.

Mr. Harper defended his government's handling of the "difficult issue" during a news conference in Moncton, N.B., where he also charged that Mr. Ignatieff, who this week accused Mr. Harper of not showing proper respect for Mr. Mulroney, has "absolutely no moral compass" for commenting on government conduct and ethics.

...."First of all, Mr. Ignatieff and the Liberal party -- when this matter first broke -- were practically demanding that I throw Mr. Mulroney in prison without a trial. Now they are out there pretending that somehow they are his best friends and they don't agree with any of this," Mr. Harper said.

Demanding they throw Mulroney in jail, how about wanting to hang him?? Remember this?

Hang him, hang him high! That was the Liberal MP Shawn Murphy from PEI wanting Mulroney hung, but now the Liberals are bleeding Conservative blue for him? Sending him birthday wishes? Hypocrites. You slimy little people, you started this whole thing by visiting Karl in prison and cooking up a deal to keep him in Canada, then your MP's hammered the government to call an inquiry. They did just that, but you were not happy.

The Liberal Chairman of the ethics committee Paul Szabo, who had personally visited Schrieber in jail, a clear conflict of interest, called a witch hunt on Mulroney and proceeded to shut down anyone who disputed him.

Liberals are now supposedly close friends and supporters of the very person they wanted to hang. Funny how Liberals are still using this issue to try and score political points. The MSM is obviously too stupid to investigate this matter, or even show any balance in reporting.

Hate to break it to you guys/gals no-one cares about a 20 year old scandal. Conservatives reduced the PC party to two seats because of it, why haven't the Liberal party voters reduced the Liberals to two seats because of Adscam? Where is that 34 million the Liberal party stole from Canadians while in government? Funny 34 million against 240,000 and Mulroney is the big bad guy? Typical Liberal VALUES!

UPDATE: MP Szabo has commented on this post.

Correction. The assertion that I met with Schreiber while he was in jail is untrue. The only time I have ever seen him is when he appeared before me at the Ethics Committee hearings.

I would appreciate it if someone would let me know the source of this false accusation or at least ask the source what proof they have. Then you will know they cannot be trusted.

Lefty Media In Full Cry!

The Globe and Mail is leading the way, with the CBC close behind. Day after day, the Globe prints an anti-Conservative article to get their comment section going. Witness this article from yesterday, comments are still not closed even though more than 800 commenter's responded. Who reads 800 comments? If you care to read those comments, most are by lefties slanting the story as fast as they can type, it shows their desperation. I bet the Globe comments section is one of the most popular, problem is that does not necessarily translate into increased sales. Watch for comment sections to get random advertising pop-ups!

Here's another anti-Conservative article. And another. Go read them if you want, but why bother? Same stuff day after day gets boring. Pay for that if you want, but you can read it online, and comment too, it's two hits for free!

Now, the taxpayer funded CBC should also get some light shed on it, thanks to Reid! This is a must read post! It shows the bias of CBC's Don Newman, proof positive that Canada's non-profit plastic surgeons should not be used for face lifts.

Is all this blustering by the opposition and media reaching the average Canadian? NOPE! How do I know? By the conversations at work, nobody is scandalized by Bernier, they have no clue who he is, and they don't care. The media is shrilling for the Liberals, with no effect. Why? No one is listening to them anymore.

You can only cry wolf so often.

So It Begins, The Fight!

The fight against the MSM, the fight against smears from the opposition, begins now. Every little media bias needs to be exposed, no matter how big or how small. Every time someone like Ralph Goodale opens his mouth, he needs to be called on his over the top comments. Conservatives are always under the microscope, it's time to turn the tables.

A great example of how this works is Ezra, and his fight with the HRC's. He came into that interview room ready to fight, and the interviewer was stunned that she wasn't respected for the God she thought she was, she resigned under the pressure. Since then the HRC's have been under the glare of the floodlight, and they are running scared. It's the classic example of how challenging someone who can not defend their position turns them into wimps.

Agree with them, no problem, disagree, you become a "knuckle dragging" redneck, prehistoric monster. Well if I'm going to be a prehistoric monster, I pick the Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Let's step it up a notch, and start putting the pressure on lefty media, opposition MP's, and the government.

To begin the process, two examples:

1. Who released the 17 year old video? No one has mentioned that little gem. I heard it might be Pat Atkinson, whether it is or not, let's look at her record.

It is disappointing, and in our view, economically damaging to Saskatchewan’s future job creation prospects that the Provincial Government’s commitment to low utility and vehicle insurance rates does not extend to the businesses that create jobs for Saskatchewan people at a level over 20 times the employment levels of government owned utilities and businesses. .....

Our Chamber also remains troubled that a productivity agenda has not yet been embraced by the crown entities for which you are accountable as Minister.

So, this NDP Minister was incompetent, from reading that letter, she couldn't care less. Proof: Saskatchewan is booming under the Saskatchewan Party. Read the letter, you decide. Why did she release the tape instead of returning it to the rightful owners? She obviously has no clue what honour means. Shame.

2. CTV and the Globe and Mail, both posted a picture of PM Harper kneeling and praying at Auschwitz. CTV did not allow any comments, even though they allowed people to comment endlessly on the Lukiwski story. The Globe and Mail, allowed only 43 comments then they closed comments, they also erased the picture of PM Harper kneeling to pray for the Holocaust victims. All articles about Lukiwski have disappeared from the Globe and Mail. Guess they accomplished their objective, ruin a person's life. They have also now posted a garbage smear attempt on their site.

Staff briefed Bernier to discuss wireless issue with Mulroney
When the Conservatives were asked last fall if government ministers met with Brian Mulroney about the big-money auction of wireless-telephone airwaves, the Tories dismissed the questions as “ridiculous,” “nonsense” and “hogwash.”

Yet government documents show that cabinet minister Maxime Bernier was scheduled by his staff to do just that in November of 2006, with a meeting set at Montreal's University Club that was expected to include talk about telecommunications issues that concerned Mr. Mulroney's employer, Quebecor Inc.

That meeting was cancelled, and Mr. Mulroney's associates say that's because an appointment to chat was mistaken for a business meeting by Mr. Bernier's aides.

Smear, smear, smear, endless smear, they are wallowing in it, they are rolling in the mud, they are hoping it rubs off on the Conservatives, it hasn't yet, and it will not because people are not listening anymore. Cry wolf MSM, see who comes to your rescue.

So, the fight begins, it's the small little digs, not the "I got you" moments that the MSM are counting on. It's the Fife's calling us "knuckle draggers" and laughing moments they hope stick. They are too stupid to understand that they are awakening those that have slumbered.

The Free Ride Is Over!

A comment on my blog got me thinking seriously about what we, as bloggers, should be doing about both the opposition and the MSM.

Anonymous said...

"Does the media not understand that these are real people, with real lives? "

"maybe it's time to shed the big floodlight on all MP's."

Umm, no maybe its time to have a blog devoted to the unguarded remarks & tasteless behavior of journalists.
Camera phones & digital recorders are wonderful things. The next time you see some jerk or elitist snot at a political event and they are wearing press I.D. turn on your recorder or camera phone and have it on the internet within minutes.

You can bet no one in the press would ever admit to visiting such a site - but they ALL would, to see such things as married, drunken Joe Doofus of the Can. Press staring at Mary Lou Bleached Blonde's chest, or pompous Bob BigMouth wandering around cranked to the gills with his fly wide open. Priceless!

So I had suggested putting a big floodlight on MP's, but anon is right too, let's put the big floodlight on both the opposition and MSM.

Lukiwski was caught, like a deer in the headlights of an oncoming car, both the opposition and MSM ran him down, with glee. All most of us did was defend him, but a few bloggers went on the offensive. The best I saw was this post by Kate of SDA's, it's what we should all be doing, shining that big old floodlight on the MSM and the opposition.

Seems like other bloggers feel the same, here are some examples:

Blogging Tories: What Are You Made Of?

Since the Liberal lynch mob doesn't want to accept Tom Lukiwski's apology for ancient history

That's what I am talking about, attack both the MSM and the opposition, air out ALL the dirty laundry, make them think about what they are doing to real people, with real lives, and real families that can get hurt. Contrary to lefty opinions, Conservatives are human beings with feelings.

A central blog documenting bias by the MSM and opposition is an excellent idea, if I had the time I would like to try doing it. Readers could send in videos and camera phone images of the media being drunken fools spouting garbage...oh wait, that's them already, we just don't hear about it, because they protect their own.

The point: When I started blogging, most of my posts were about my feelings of what was happening, then I started thinking that to get a wider readership, I had to post about media stories and write about that, or make sure that I posted at least once a day, whether I had anything to say or not.

My most successful posts are those done from the heart about an issue that concerns me, not ones that quote news articles. My clips of what's going on in Parliament usually get great response because people are too busy at work to watch it, and only want the highlights.

It's easy to get addicted to the number of hits your blog gets on any given day, harder to go with your heart. Being a follower of the media's lead is easy, find an article you disagree with, and blog about it.

So, to anon, and Paul of Celestial Junk, thanks for making me rethink why I blog. I blog to make my point of view known, not the media's.

The internet is an awesome tool that we can use to expose what the MSM is too lazy, or too biased to bother with. We can put them on the defensive, like Kate did to Fife. Funny how my post about Fife needing to apologize never made it into CTV's comment section.

The free ride is over! Let's shine the floodlight on the opposition and the MSM, it's working for Ezra against the HRC's, maybe we can make it work with the MSM by holding them to account for what they say.
