What she is up to, no-one knows and I fear that we will not know until it is too late for Alberta. She is moving at lightning speed to enforce her rule, and she is cuddling up to all the Liberal Premiers, especially Ontario and Quebec.

She should more interested in the Gateway hearings than what Charest eats for lunch, but she isn't. She is so neutral on our energy, she might even disappear down the rabbit hole, lost in indecision. Ali in Wonderland! HA!!!

Albertans who have been scratching their heads wondering what's behind the bizarre hiring binge their new premier has been on lately might not like the answer.
Alison Redford has been making some very curious choices in appointing some of her senior staff, but they all have one thing in common: They are her former comrades-in-arms when she was fighting to keep the Joe Clark strain of Progressivism alive in federal Conservatism during the Nineties, even as nearly everyone else in the province ran running, screaming from the PCs into the arms of Reform.

 What were the PC's thinking by electing Red Ali? She is even worse than Stelmach, at least he cared about Alberta.  If they were smart, HA!, they would be defecting to the Wildrose party, en mass. I hope that doesn't happen because this next election I want to sweep out the old, smelly, boys club, and replace it with new, invigorated MLA's that actually are Conservative and care about Albertans. That would be the Wildrose party.

Unions Dictating Alberta PC's Agenda!

We got saddled with Stelmach because Liberals and NDP signed up for PC memberships and voted. Now we have union members signing up as Conservatives to vote down proposed bills. They are using Alinsky's rules for radicals, and laughing about it. What they are scared about is the Wildrose Alliance, because they have not been able to infiltrate that party YET.

Also Saturday, one of the most heated moments of the convention erupted during debate over a resolution that would have allowed union members to stop their dues from funding political ad campaigns.
Supporters referred to the union-backed television ads seen during the 2008 provincial election, in which an ominous voice repeatedly whispers "No Plan" to criticize the Tory government. They said union members should have the power to opt-out of funding such campaigns in the future if they disagree with the message.
But a group of union supporters took issue with the motion, at one point yelling "out of order" several times to drown out proponents.
"This is a wedge issue, an issue that divides us at a time when this party is under attack from all sides," said an opponent.
The resolution was narrowly defeated.

This resolution should have passed with flying colours if the Alberta PC's were actually Conservatives.  They are not. 

How about those HRC's in Alberta? The one that put Ezra through hell for over a year and then backed down when public opinion turned against them. I have for the first time in my life emailed the Premier of my province to tell him that HRC's need to be erased. So, what does the party do?

That debate was followed by another contentious proposal that called for the removal of a section of the Alberta Human Rights, Citizenship and Multiculturalism Act. Supporters said the section, which deals with the publishing of discriminatory material, gives too much power to people who are "easily offended" and infringes on freedom of expression.
The motion was defeated after Education Minister Dave Hancock got up to defend the current legislation.
"Posting a sign that says 'No Person of Colour Allowed on Premises' isn't appropriate in our province," he said. "This section (of the act) isn't used very often, but it's an important symbol of our society."

Dave Hancock, the hippies are calling, you left your opinions in the 60's and they want them back. Are you kidding me? Is this an example of what the Alberta Conservatives have become?  My God, are they serious? Are they really that stupid? Are they really allowing the union fakers to dictate their agenda?  Maybe all Conservatives should sign up for NDP memberships so that we can dictate the NDP policies. That would be a hoot! Can you imagine us voting on NDP policy? They seem to think it's okay for them to vote on Conservative policy, so it's only fair for us to do the same to them!

The unions and lefties are now dictating to our Premier and his party. I wonder if the Alberta PC's and their far left buddies at rabble, are going to be shocked when they lose the next election to the Wildrose Alliance? They shouldn't be, given their lefty positions on everything. 

 

It is said that PM Harper does not suffer fools lightly, have you noticed that he never actually talks to Stelmach. He gets along better with Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Williams than Stelmach.....what does that tell you?  

 

The Alberta lefties can't win any seats provincially so they dishonestly sign up as "fake" Conservatives and hijack our agenda. Lefties, no morals, no principles.

Butt Out Of Alberta Issues!

So, I'm reading this article in the Edmonton Sun, and I'm thinking, what the heck is this guy talking about? He is so off base with what is happening in Alberta that he must be a Liberal. It's worse than that, he is sitting in Ontario and telling Albertans what is going on in our province. Nice.

As the grassroots Wildrose Alliance continues its inexorable rise in Alberta, Stephen Harper will be eyeing the rear-view mirror. He may be a little nervous.

This week, in a move that surprised few but is momentous nonetheless, one of former Alberta premier Ralph Klein’s best friends bolted from the Conservatives to join Wildrose as interim president.

This was a provincial shift, not federal. But the ripples are sure to reach Ottawa before long.

Wildrose, led by newcomer Danielle Smith, is everything that Premier Ed Stelmach’s entrenched Alberta PC party is not; brash, fresh, engaging and infused with the kitchen-table conservatism that gave rise to the Reform Party 20 years ago.

Stelmach, who had the unlucky fate of succeeding the most popular leader in Alberta’s history, is struggling. His critics deem him to be autocratic and out of touch. On his watch, Alberta has gone from being a fiscal superstar to posting a deficit of close to $5 billion.

Now look to Ottawa — where Prime Minister Stephen Harper leads a federal government that is also posting record deficits — $56 billion and counting. Harper too has occasionally been accused of being autocratic and out of touch.

For the time being, the PM’s hold on Alberta is secure. He retains the cachet of a hometown boy made good. But his coalition grows increasingly unwieldy. How to satisfy centrist Ontario and left-leaning Quebec without alienating right-leaning Alberta?

Okay, what does the provincial Wildrose party have to do with the federal Conservative party? Should the federal Liberals be held to account for Dalton's HST? Should the provincial Liberals in Ontario be held to account for the federal Liberals stealing millions of taxpayers dollars?

"For the time being the PM's hold on Alberta is secure"???? Are you nuts? Close to 60% support and he should be worried about the Wildrose PROVINCIAL party? His "coalition"??? I thought the "coalition" was the Liberals/NDP/Bloc, but this guy thinks Conservatives across Canada uniting is a "coalition"?

I couldn't believe how out of touch this reporter was, so I googled him, and actually laughed out loud, waking my hubby from his nap.



Some guy from Ontario is an expert on Alberta politics? Really? No wonder I have not been reading the Sun lately. What a joke!

I know that this reporter doesn't want to hear this, from a born and raised Albertan but, you should butt out of Alberta issues, you made yourself look like an idiot, you have absolutely no understanding of Alberta and our politics.

Voting for Wildrose will have absolutely no impact on PM Harper or the federal Conservatives. NONE!

Now as far as provincial voting goes, the Wildrose will win some seats, but only if they get their act together and start nominating candidates. I saw nothing about any candidates on their site.

They will get my vote, on one issue only. Abolishing the Alberta Human Rights Commission. All the other issues are not different enough from the PC party to make me change my vote. Looking at their policies, they are the PC party. Same junk, different faces.

PC's Get It Wrong.

Okay, being an Albertan I should blog about the leadership review for Stelmach. I don't care. I'm still mad that the Liberals and NDP helped elect the guy. Now they whine and complain that he isn't very good. Suck it up, you got him elected.

I am with Mike on this. I have always voted PC but come next election I will vote Wild Rose as along as Ed is in. It may be 1 less vote for the PC's but at least it's my vote. One also must remember, at the PC convention, Ed was put in by a small group of people as the leader of the PC's, it was not all of Alberta that got to vote on that leader. If our voting was different here, Ed surely would not be still in office.

Hello Doug, only Conservatives should vote for the leader of the Conservative party. That didn't happen, because lefties signed up to the Conservative party and voted against a real Conservative, Ted Morton. That's why Conservatives voted for Stelmach last election. Too pay back all the Liberals and NDP voters for interfering in OUR election of a leader, and sticking us with Stelmach.

Next election is a whole different story. Wildrose is a promising alternative. I wait to see their policies or are they going to be like the federal Liberals, and save it for an election? Time will tell. My vote is up for grabs. I have not seen my MLA since he got elected. From what I have seen of him, he is a real dud, maybe I should run against him. That could be a real hoot. My campaign slogan would be, "Don't go Lefty, go WILD!" HA. I should copyright that slogan. Bet Gayle would vote for me.

Cop Killer Gets Parole!

Edmonton police officer Ezio Faraone, (pictured above) was killed in the line of duty by two punks who had just robbed a bank.

I remember it clearly even now, it shocked all of Edmonton. It was total cold blooded murder. Now one of the thugs, has been released. Even Stelmach came out strongly against the National Parole Board of Canada's decision, and that's saying something.

Stelmach slams release

A man convicted in the 1990 killing of Edmonton Const. Ezio Faraone should be jailed for the rest of his life, says Premier Ed Stelmach.

Stelmach made the comments after 46-year-old Albert Foulston was granted statutory release yesterday to an Edmonton halfway house.

"He killed a police officer and he should stay in jail forever," a visibly upset Stelmach told reporters yesterday after being asked about the case.

"It was cold-blooded."

Faraone, 33, had cornered both Foulston and Jerry Crews after an Edmonton bank robbery. Foulston -- who was on parole at the time -- put up his hands in surrender but Crews blasted the officer with a sawed-off shotgun, killing him on the spot.

The head of the Edmonton Police Association lauded the premier for his comments.

"That's the mindset that is shared by the rank and file and all of the members of the police association and, I suspect, the majority of the public as well," said association president Sgt. Tony Simioni.

He was just about released in 2004, but even he knew it was not in his best interests to be openly let out. Here is a very comprehensive report on Foulston:

Foulston had nearly fifty convictions when Constable Ezio Faraone was murdered. He was on parole at the time, clearly demonstrating he couldn’t give a fig for the rules of a civilized society. After fourteen years in jail he has over 100 violations on his institutional record and has spent much of his time in segregation because of his behaviour.

He’s a heroin junkie and has been consistently involved in the drug culture while in prison. He has constantly and consistently breached the rules of prison while there and every time he has be out on escorted or unescorted temporary absences. He’s been back and forth between medium and minimum security prisons because every time he is given a little more freedom he reverts to using heroin. The use of which, I might add, raises the likelihood of him re-offending violently.

He is a career criminal who has spent most of his adult life in jail. When out on parole, he consistently re-offends until he is caught again. He was first sentenced to prison for an armed robbery in 1980, ten years before he and Crews robbed the bank on the day they ended the life of Constable Ezio Faraone.

There is absolutely no reason to believe Foulston will not re-offend. The last time he was on parole, he robbed a bank and was involved in the killing of a cop. What can we expect for an encore?

So, why did the National Parole Board release him? Even after this:

In a rare move, Edmonton's chief of police wrote to the National Parole Board recently asking that Foulston not be allowed out.

Chief Mike Boyd wrote that news of the con's imminent release "brought alarm and serious concern not only from members of the Edmonton Police Service, but from the citizens in the community we serve."

Even the parole board's own documents called Foulston "a high-risk, high-needs offender" with a "resentment towards persons in authority."

"Overall benefit of your lengthy incarceration has been minimal," the documents state. "A number of prior release attempts have resulted in failure, both in the form of relapse, and with serious reoffending."

Officials had earlier indicated Foulston was to be released tomorrow, but he was quietly released yesterday.

I want the National Parole Board to speak to us, tell us why they thought it was safe to release him into society, when it has never worked before. I want to hear these people:

tell us why they disregarded a police Chief's recommendation. Why did they not consider the victim, a police officer doing his duty. Why do they think Edmonton will be safer with this criminal out on our streets early? Maybe Lorrie, or Brian, or Dina should have him live in their house, so they can monitor him. After all, they think he is safe to release into society, so why not their house? HA, they probably don't even live in Edmonton, so no problem for them or their families. How about those of us who do live in Edmonton? Did they even think for a second about how safe we feel now? It appears not.

PM Harper is on stride again, he even gives Layton a boost. (Take the hint Layton) With three lefty parties, how can Layton win more seats? Funny as it sounds, by supporting some of the government bills. They have also kept out of the scandal mongering, that's why their numbers are going up. If they keep on pandering to only their far left voters, they will have a hard time gaining more seats. Try moving into the center left which Dion has abandoned. Your greeny bill is useless, and everyone knows it, it makes your party look stupid.... hold it, oh never mind.

The Conservatives have it right, don't just target GHG's, target real pollution, you know, the stuff you can actually see, not like the non-pollutant CO2.

Lastly, the CWB is from the Trudeau era and needs to be updated, but the bureaucrats will fight the Conservatives to the death to keep their little kingdom. Provincial governments need to step up and take the power of the wheat board away. Come on Stelmach, you're a farmer, get going. This one issue ticks me off big time, eastern farmers can sell to anyone, but western farmers are supposedly too dumb to sell their own wheat to whoever gives them the best price? I hate monopolies, like the CWB.

Dion wants to impose a carbon tax, this will affect our food, and heating our homes, it's a bad idea, by a clueless leader.

Protesters disrupt Stelmach's fundraising dinner

EDMONTON -- As protests go, the timing couldn't have been better.

Alberta Premier Ed Stelmach was just about to deliver an anti-Greenpeace message to a Tory fundraising dinner Thursday, when two Greenpeace activists dropped from the ceiling with a large anti-Stelmach banner.

Talk about the "Canadian Press" crowing. Who are you "Canadian Press"? Two people and another one in the crowd? What juvenile antics. The security firm should also be hung out to dry, how did this incident happen?

The punchline of the premier's speech was how he was planning trips to southern California and central Europe later this year to dispel the Greenpeace message that rapid oilsands development is creating an environmental disaster.


The PUNCHLINE? What a biased piece this is from our mystery "Canadian Press", who is the Nimrod who wrote this article?

This incident should be treated as a serious assault on the Premier of Alberta. This should not be treated as a joke, just because they are part of Greenpeace, or any other activist group. This is despicable behaviour by people who think their cause is more important than the safety of our Premier.

So they got the attention they wanted, I doubt they will get any donations from Alberta residents anytime soon. Maybe we should counter protest these groups by strangling their funding.

This was not funny, this was very upsetting, this was a university style stunt. Grow up you idiots, no one cares about your causes any more because of antics like this.

Exactly, they are not accountable to anybody. They should have been locked up.

Alberta Goes BLUE!

Conservatives come out of hiding, and vote PC! My riding was the last to be announced, and I'm pleased we booted a Liberal and elected a PC.

What happened? Calgary was supposed to go red, didn't happen. Edmonton was supposed to go blue, it happened.

Guess Steady Eddie, really is a leader, his results are the same as Ralph got in his best election. Hopefully the media will stop with the snide remarks about a farmer running this province.

We voted, the PC got over 52% of the vote. Now, we shall see what the next 4 years brings.
