Wildrose Lights Up The Night!

You had to know I would love this "climbing out of the dark, into the Conservative light" initiative. As if Wildrose wasn't innovative enough, they step up the sign competition with glow in the dark signs!

 I don't know if all Wildrose candidates are doing this, but my Wildrose candidate sure is, and it's pretty awesome! My candidate is young and very personable with loads of energy. All the other candidates are older and that should be an advantage for them, but even this old boot wants change and new blood in the Legislature.

Do not forget to go to your candidates debates, and volunteer to scrutineer. It is coming down to the wire in this election, and we do not want to stumble and fall back in the last week.

Be aware that the competition are going to pull out all the stops. Your candidate is going to need all the volunteers they can get in this last week. If you really want to see the Wildrose elected, get out there and help.

My riding is going to be interesting with a PC Minister who only won by 58 votes against a Liberal. Enter into the race the Wildrose and Alberta Party, and we have a 4 way race to the finish. These light up signs will really be noticable, and one more Wildrose advantage.

We were actually discussing Kenney and immigration, no photo caption contest was in the works, but LS needed to get his two cents in anyways.

Typical lefties, trying to change the topic when they don't like the issue. Do they ever grow up?

Wildrose has received more free advertising because of that one bus than the PC's can afford to pay for all election....whenever that might be.

I have my Wildrose sign on reserve, I have volunteered to help them, and I am more than ready to vote. Call the dang election, nothing is going to make it better for the PC's.

I like the ad, it is hard hitting but factual. Of course the lefties are going to call it an "attack" ad, because they are now cheering for the PC's because they have a LIBERAL leader. This should be a very interesting, high turnout, election. May the Wildrose win.

Everywhere the Wildrose bus goes, people are going to be looking, wondering if the picture is still in the same place. This "mistake" is actually a huge win for the Wildrose. Increased exposure (HA), with minimal expenditure. Nice.

And We Voted Him In.

When Ralph Klein first ran for Premier, he told us he would reduce our spending by 20%. He told us we needed to do this to get rid of our debt, to give our children a fighting chance.

And we voted him in.

And he did what he said he would do, he reduced spending by 20%. I remember because 5 people were going to have to be let go at work and I was number 6, I survived the cuts, barely. He was vilified by the ruling Federal Liberals, made into the bad boy of Confederation by the ruling elites. Why? Because he turned our province around, and got rid of the debt, faster than promised. I miss him. Even after all the cuts and pain....

We Voted Him Back In. 

Where the PC's went wrong, was to push him out, before he and Albertans were ready to see him go. It has been a disaster since then. We got Steady Eddie, a guy way over his head, useless but harmless. Now we have Red Ali, an arrogant, my way or the highway, female Dalton. She is not harmless. She has surrounded herself with weak Minister's, like Fred Horne, the marshmallow, as Minister of Health. She says jump, he says how high. He's a "Yes Mam" kind of guy. 

So, what are Albertans going to do? How can we solve this problem of poor leadership, shown by the election budget they released? Do we sit back and hope it gets better? Do we pretend that the PC's are still in any way Conservative?

We can't vote Ralph back in, I wish we could. We need to change course. We need to understand that the PC's are Conservative in name only, and that Red Ali is a Liberal. We need to look to the only party in Alberta that can provide the government that we need, and that is the Wildrose Party.

Albertans are slow to change. We think about things for a long time, because we care deeply about our province. Because we care so deeply about Alberta, we need to take up a new banner. We need to make our kids and grand kids proud. We need to stop automatically voting for the PC's just because they happen to have Conservative in their name, they are closer to the NDP than to Conservatives under Red Ali's leadership. 

I was upset when Klein was pushed out as leader. I was willing to give Stelmach a chance. He was awful. The PC's had the choice to go more Conservative, and what did they do? They voted for a Liberal who only won because she promised the teachers union they would get 100 MILLION dollars. That was the first thing she did when she got "elected". Then she went on to pander to special interest groups with her .05 drinking and driving law. They have mentioned a PST, and increasing the "sin" taxes. Not very Conservative at all. She has refused to support our oil industry and yet went to Ontario and Quebec to get agreement on a "National Energy" program.  I smell disaster if she actually gets elected as our Premier.

I want you all to understand that they are going to use every trick in the book this election. It's going to be nasty. I have noticed government sponsored ads being run by the PC's already...remember, you are paying for them. The unions are going to be advertising for her, just like they did to get Dalton re-elected.

We can not sit on our butts, and think that she can't do much damage if she is elected. She can, and she will. Liberals have been infiltrating the PC party for years, knowing that is the only way they can gain power in Alberta. I say, it's time we taught them a lesson. Voters have power. We decide who will rule Alberta.

Got out into your neighbourhoods and talk about Wildrose. Talk about Danielle Smith and her party. Put up a Wildrose sign. Go out and door knock with your Wildrose candidate. Get the message out.

Quebec booted the Bloc last election, unfortunately they picked the NDP as a replacement. It's time for Alberta to boot the PC's and replace them with the Wildrose! If Saskatchewan could boot the NDP after years in power, in favour of the Sask Party, Alberta can replace the PC's with the Wildrose. Look at how well Saskatchewan is doing now. We can and should be doing better, it's only our 40 year old, tired, entitled party that is holding us back.

Come on Alberta! We can do better.

It appears that the Wildrose are catching up to the Alberta PC's, even before the election begins. This is excellent news. Can Wildrose go from around 6% in the last election to 30% in our yet to be called election this spring? I think so.

If you look at the results from the last election, the Liberals were most often in second place behind the PC's.

What if Liberals switch their votes to Red Ali? Is that likely? The votes from last election show the Liberals in second place in most ridings, so why would they vote PC? If the Liberals hold their votes, and some PC voters switch to WRA, could the Liberals gain enough seats to form a minority? This is the biggest worry of Alberta conservative voters. While more Liberals will probably get elected if we vote Wildrose, fewer PC's will get elected. If the PC's are limited to a minority, the power they have had for years will be blunted. Most importantly the people can then force an election at any time they want.

What I sense, from talking to people at work, is that a big shift is happening. People are fed up with the PC's, and they are talking Wildrose as the alternative, not the Liberals or NDP. Make no mistake, the PC's in Alberta are in big trouble, and Red Ali is one of the main reasons. She just rubs Albertans the wrong way. She barely won in the last election:

She won by less than 500 votes, as a PC in Alberta? But, because of support by the teachers union, she became our Premier-elect, after giving them 100 million dollars of taxpayers money. In the budget, they got it back from us by raising our school taxes to collect 120 million! They didn't tell us this, because all we heard was no new taxes. Bull!

It's time for the dinosaurs to go. We need fresh blood, not recycled paper dolls standing in front of us repeating the same old tired line, year after year. Maybe that's what freaks me out about Red Ali.....think Stepford wives. YIKES!

Rain, Rain, and even more Rain!

I can't concentrate on politics when the weather is so very bad. We wait all winter for summer, for the heat, for the growing of vegetables and then we get smacked by Mother Nature with enough rain that I am considering building an ark.

The econuts can scream "global warming", "climate change" all they want, but when it comes down to day by day weather, they always get it wrong.  Just like the NDP are wrong headed.

Maybe the NDP should drop "socialist" from their mandate and go with "global warning, anti-Israel, union supporting" as their mantra. They are abrasive, rude and out of touch with Canadians. Jack and Olivia can move up, but that doesn't make them classy.

My husband made a really important statement today. He said that the Conservatives have got to get tough. He wants no more talk about the gun registry, he wants it gone. He wants the Conservatives to stop being wimps, and start implementing the agenda he voted for, he wants changes, not promises.

I agree that the Conservatives have got to show leadership, and they have to be Conservative, not liberal lite. Privatize the CBC, get rid of the gun registry, give western farmers choice by de-funding the CWB, and most importantly, get rid of the human rights commissions. 

My husband is a fair weather voter, more liberal than conservative, so when he calls for tough measures, it is time for the Conservatives to listen.

Teaparties To The South of Us, Mergers in the North!

So, the US has it's tea party people, wanting to get back to the constitution and feeling proud of being an American.



We, have the merger people, wanting to get back to power no matter what it costs, with no concern about Canada. Can the Liberals not see what the Canadian people are seeing right now? Disorder, disruption, and disaster for the Liberal party. If my boys were fighting over the Xbox, neither would get to play it.

Will the Liberals merge with the NDP? Or, will we get an after election coalition that excludes the winning party, like they tried last time? I remember when we killed the PC party. I was upset because I could never vote Liberal after the NEP, and the NDP were just too radical for me. I thought I would have no party to vote for, and then I heard about the Reform party, and I found a new home. When the parties merged, I was happy to see the right unite.

Will the same thing happen with a Liberal/NDP alignment? Can my Liberal parents feel comfortable with a new, Trudeauless party? Will a far left NDP'er feel at home with the Liberals? Lefties are arguing that a merger of Liberals/NDP would be just like the Conservative merger. Wrong. Reform and PC's had the base grounding of conservatism to rely on. We were the same party, with the same philosophy, that's why it worked.

This appears to be a get rid of Iggy ploy. Liberals will continue to blame everyone except themselves. If Iggy is being pushed out, I have a suggestion for him. Cross the floor with enough Liberal MP's to secure a majority for the Conservatives. That will give everyone a 4 year cool down, and destroy any coalition/merger option in the works. It would be the only way that Iggy could get some payback for all the backstabbing that has been going on in his own party. It would stop Rae and Powercorp, and it would force the Liberals to actually look at what they have become. Sleazy comes to mind.

So The Globe And Mail Called Today....

I must say their telemarketers are efficient, they don't hang around on the line to get the full truth!

She asked if I read the Globe and Mail, and as it happened, I had gone online today and actually read an article after months of avoiding them, so I said yes.

She wanted to know if I had a subscription or bought it at a news outlet, I told her I read it online. She asked if I would like a subscription, I said not likely, and she said thanks, goodbye.

Do you think she somehow knew what was coming? HA! Smart lady!

After the call, I thought about our news industry and how badly they are all doing financially, even my favorite National Post is in trouble. I enjoy Global Edmonton TV because the news anchors are here in my city and understand the issues, I would hate to see them go. CBC, not so much.

What is most frightening, is what happens if we are left with only the taxpayer subsidized CBC? Think about that for a minute. CBC can not fail, because we pay over 1 BILLION for them to survive on some old Trudeau Maniac feeling that our culture will not make it if we do not support CBC. How did we survive as a cultural nation before CBC? How can CBC survive without anyone watching them? On our dime, that's how.

How stupid is CTV to be parroting CBC? They are ticking off 40% of the country, and they rely on our viewership to survive. Not so CBC. Nobody watches CBC anymore, and CTV thinks it's a good business model to follow? Are they next in line for government funding so they can feed off the taxpayers trough and be just like CBC? We can't afford another CBC.

I think CTV/Global should be taking the government to court for their funding of one TV station and not others. CBC should get no funding or they all should. They should all have to compete in the market fairly, not with one station having an advantage. Like the Canadian Wheat Board gets to dictate to our western farmers, but not the Ontario farmers who are free to sell their grain to anyone they want. The market is distorted and unfair.

Cable companies should refuse to carry CBC, see what the CRTC does with that idea. I suspect they would try to shut cable/satellite companies down, until the public gets involved.

I know Conservatives get ridiculed for their lack of support for CBC. What the lefties do not see, is the unfair advantage and total disregard for the free market economy that CBC represents, same with the CWB. Lefties hate capitalism, and therefore love the inequities that CBC and CWB represent. Conservatives see how unfair it is and respond with disgust.

Funny though, it is businesses that overwhelmingly support the Liberals. The days of businesses having their hands in both our pockets and the governments need to end. Businesses need to get out of politics and remember that it is the consumer that makes them profitable, not the government. But as government has grown, companies can't help tapping into the deep taxpayers pockets the government promises. I remember one sales representative getting a commission cheque of over $100,000 for ONE month, because he sold photocopiers to the government. One month!

The free market is being shackled by all the rules and regulations that governments are imposing. Environmental regulations, municipal bylaws, and unions all make it difficult for businesses to operate, no wonder they are moving to India and China. We need to wake up, and realize that our standard of living is at risk here.

So, the Globe and Mail called today, they got no respect because they deserve none. As consumers we need to pay attention to what businesses are supporting and if we don't like it, our dollars should walk.

A blind man's view of an elephant never ceases to amaze me. L. Ian Macdonald's take on last week's events in Parliament is at least 100% off the mark.

For the first time in over a year, Michael Ignatieff has forced Stephen Harper to act Canadian -- by solving a disagreement through negotiation and compromise.

Minority governments can function very well if both sides want them to. Pearson proved that and we got some of our greatest policies during that time -- the National Health Act to name just one.

Harper deliberately misspeaks when he says that Canadians elected him to govern the country. Harper isn't very good at math; there are more MPs against him than for him.

Ever since his government has held the reins he has done everything he can think of to make Parliament dysfunctional by making every vote a confidence vote. That's not the way a minority Parliament works, and what's worse, Harper knows this.

But thanks to Iggy, the Prime Minsiter got off his high horse and decided to negotiate. Stephen Harper has lived here all his life and he still hasn't figured out how to be Canadian. Maybe he needs to live abroad for a while to figure it out.

It just happens that this lady is from socialist Quebec, so I guess we need to try to understand her thinking.

PM Harper, is the Prime Minister because in our system, his party won more votes/MP's than any other political party, therefore they are the government. I guess she is still hoping for a lefty coalition to grab power from the knuckle dragging Conservatives.

Acting Canadian, that would be Iggy, he's just visiting after 34 years. He only needs 2 more years as an MP then he gets a Canadian pension for life! Sweet! Iggy thought he wanted an election, then he didn't, now he might, but not necessarily. When asked if he had tried to meet with PM Harper, Iggy did not answer, because he was so busy getting crowned by the backroom boys, he didn't bother. He told us that Harper was going to wear the recession. So who was making Parliament dysfunctional? Let's see....

Just weeks after the election, the NDP, Liberals and Bloc tried to form a coalition of the socialists, but being socialists they held meetings and signed agreements, and not much else, so poof...the Canadian citizens, acting Canadian, clipped that idea in the bud.

How dysfunctional is that?

The NDP and the Bloc both refused to even read the budget before they came out saying they would not support it.

This caused the instillation of Iggy as the new Liberal king, crowned without a vote.

How dysfunctional is that?

But Linda is blaming PM Harper for a dysfunctional government? Give your head a shake lady. Take off your lefty tinted glasses and understand that Iggy blundered badly, he showed only weakness not leadership. He backed down, he settled for a committee not an election. Seeing how lefties love useless committees, I guess lefties might think he won something, but he didn't. Even my 16 year old knows that Iggy is just visiting, he saw the ads, he had no clue who Iggy was before seeing them. I suspect many people who are here "acting Canadian", like Iggy, saw them as well.

The opposition has given no help to the government during a recession, they have been too busy playing silly opposition games.

How dysfunctional is that?

What is dysfunctional is the opposition, they refuse to work with a Conservative government, on principle. Principles, they have no principles, that's dysfunctional.

You Mean The Alberta Liberals, Right?

Alberta Conservatives are about to give their government a swift kick in the butt. There is nothing Conservative about them anymore. They went from huge surpluses to a deficit in one budget. I realize that oil prices had a lot to do with it, but mismanagement by a government who thinks they will be in power forever is the biggest problem.

Stelmach is a Dion. Too bad he is also the Premier of our province. I blame all the fake conservatives who signed up to vote for Liberal Dinning. One of the most powerful provinces in Canada has a dud for a leader and his Ministers are no better. This story shows the level of incompetence they have sunk to:

Alberta memo reveals climate change rift with Ottawa

CALGARY -- An internal memo prepared for members of Alberta's Tory government reveals a growing schism between the federal and provincial Conservatives on a host of important issues, including the oilsands, climate-change negotiations and employment insurance.

The talking points, prepared by the provincial Conservative government's caucus office and distributed to party legislature members, argues that federal Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff is doing more to champion the lucrative oilsands than Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

Get your fat butts off the dinner train that is now in Saskatchewan and start managing your own province. The day that our own Conservative government thinks Iggy is doing more for Alberta than a federal Conservative government, is the day my Conservative vote gets lost down the rabbit hole. Who ever wrote that "memo" should be fired.

We need a leader. I see none. If Wildrose is ever going to get off the ground, they need to do just one small thing, get themselves a real Conservative as a leader. Someone we all know like Preston Manning, a true Conservative to run this province. We need it for our next election.

The Alberta Conservatives have no credibility left. None.
