Video of two New Democrat MPs apparently needing to consult a lyrics sheet for O Canada has raised a lot of eyebrows, and triggered a backlash from NDP members.
A field producer for CTV's Ottawa Bureau first noticed the mysterious sheet of paper held by MPs Lise St-Denis & Djaouida Sellah in the House of Commons, and his Twitter post caused a mini-firestorm.
The NDP's national director said not every MP knows the anthem in Canada's two official languages, but St-Denis and Sellah appear to consult the lyrics sheet for both.

Quebec, Waking Up With A Hangover!
Sure, they got rid of the Bloc, which is excellent, but they now have to put up with opposition NDP MP's for the next 4 years. Basically, Quebec is now powerless, and they have only themselves to blame. They can join PEI and Newfoundland in the land of those the Conservatives forgot.
Quebec's worst nightmare is now a reality, a Conservative majority, without Quebec's support. They have even less representation in Parliament than they had last election with a minority Conservative government. The west is in, and Quebec is out. The west asked them to the prom, but they said no, we want a socialist government to feed our unending appetite for "goodies" at the taxpayers expense. Quebec should have woke up after election night with a huge hangover and a stranger in their bed.
How disrespectful of our democracy can you get when you elect representatives who never even set foot in their ridings. It's not only Vegas girl, there are others as well. Quebec obviously wanted to send a message to the rest of Canada. My take on their message is that they wanted nothing more to do with propping up the Bloc, but they also didn't want to join the rest of us. They wanted to remain unique.
Unique they are, they now have to go to their NDP MP's, if they can find them and understand them, for representation in our country. It is one thing to protest with your vote, it is a whole other thing to protest smartly. Quebec voted without actually thinking about the consequences, and now they have to live with what they voted for. Good luck Quebec, we will see you in 4 years.

Who would have thought a majority was possible without Quebec? HA! Now Quebec is stuck with no real representation in government. The Conservatives will make sure that Quebec is served, but what can they do with only 6 MP's from Quebec? Quebec has so screwed themselves. It looks good on them.
Meanwhile back in Alberta, the "for hire" signs are popping up all over the place. We need workers and if those lefties from Quebec and PEI refuse to come here to work, they should be made to pay for the foreign workers we will need to bring in, while they sit on their duffs and pull in EI bucks. I see lots of BC, Sask, Man and Ont license plates here, but can't remember the last time I have actually seen a Quebec or PEI plate. My husband was smart enough to leave PEI to come to Alberta because there were no opportunities in PEI. He is still here and doing better than any of his 6 siblings back in PEI.

The Opposition Screwed Themselves!
At a time when all other economies are failing, Canadians understood the risk to Canada and elected a strong stable Conservative majority. Thank You Canadians!
I was blasted by my NDP office mate the other day about immigration and how reuniting families should be the priority. Today I was the only one predicting a Conservative majority. I should have laid down some bets with real money involved. Now, I can walk into work with head held high and thumb my nose at the "scared" voters. My office mate even brought up the old "abortion and gay marriage" scare tactic today. I am sure that works well with his NDP buddies, but it didn't sit well with me and obviously it didn't "scare" other Canadians.
God blessed Canada today with 4 years of stable government. PEI and Newfoundland should stop sending their kids here, they should send them to Liberal/NDP strongholds instead. Maybe they can go to Quebec to get their jobs! Oops, not many Atlantic voters speak French, so scratch that idea.
What makes me most thankful is that now, with a majority we will not see a carbon market anytime soon. With a majority, we can finally work together for Canada and Canadians in every province.

Quebec Debate...Yawn. Give Us A Western Debate!
Duceppe was declared the winner of the Quebec debate because he promised Quebec more goodies. If he has to form a coalition with the Liberals and NDP to get them, he doesn't care. Separation is his song, but it is getting really old, tired and out of date. We all know that Quebec is special because of their culture and language. It is time for Quebec to stop being on the outside, with no chance of power and come back to Canada. The only party that can form a majority are the Conservatives. If Quebec continues to vote Bloc, and the Conservatives form a majority without Quebec, they will be out of luck. The Bloc will have no power.
If the coalition actually does take power, all voters west of Ontario will have little to no representation in the takeover government. This could have a devastating impact on the economic engine of Canada. All opposition parties want cap and trade. If you think that the NEP was economically destroying in Alberta, cap and trade would be ten times worse. Quebec and Ontario would suck Alberta and Saskatchewan dry, causing a huge divide in this country.
I want a debate in western Canada, on western issues. For example, the Canadian Wheat Board does not allow western wheat farmers to sell their wheat to anyone but them. The Conservatives are trying to give western farmers choice, but the opposition parties refuse to let our farmers go. I want the debate to ask how the opposition parties think that cap and trade would benefit western Canadians. The opposition wants to stop any pipeline to BC to ship our oil to China and India. How does that benefit western Canadians? Oil is a provincial responsibility, what gives them the right to stick their noses into our business? It's time for all political parties to explain to western Canadians, why they suck money out of our provinces to give to Quebec and now Ontario, because those provinces refuse to elect governments that are fiscally responsible.
Demand a western Canadian debate, if Quebec gets one to yap about their specific issues, then western Canada should get one too. We are so far away from Ottawa, that our issues are very different from those of central Canada. Iggy has no plans to visit Alberta this election, what does that tell you? The Liberals have written off the economic engine of the country because they see no votes here. That is how shallow the Liberals have become. The Liberals, a party that doesn't know who they are, what they stand for, and who are obviously only interested in those that can help them gain power.

About Those Polls.
It makes me laugh that no matter how hard the lefty media shrills for the Liberals, they continue on a downward trend, both of them. No matter how many hands Ignatieff shakes or how many times he misses Parliament to travel Canada, the Canadian people are not buying it. I am sure that the Ekos and IPSOS surveys represent an accurate picture AT THIS POINT in time.
The ads have helped frame Ignatieff as just visiting, and in it for himself. Even my Liberal parents think that way. The threat of an election when Canadians don't want one is probably the main reason for the uptick in the Conservative numbers.
Working into Canadians consciousness is that sneaking suspicion that a coalition would happen after the next election if the Conservatives only win a minority again. People might not list that as the number one reason for supporting the Conservatives, but it is percolating just on the outer rim of people's minds.
The Bloc DEMANDING more money for Quebec, is so arrogant and distasteful to the ROC that PM Harper has to come out strongly stating that Quebec should not get more money than the 8.6 BILLION they already get from the ROC. If all cultures are equal according to our Charter of Rights, then Quebec is equal to Saskatchewan and Newfoundland, not better. Interesting thing from the surveys is that the Conservatives now poll higher than the Liberals in Quebec after saying NO to the arena. That should be a big hint to the Conservatives. Stand your ground and do not pander to Quebec, they will not respect you for it.
Also interesting is that women are giving the Conservatives the nod. I guess not all women are lefty feminists.
Can we expect an election in the spring? I'm still not sure, as the polls could shift again. I don't really want one, but I'm ready to door knock when it becomes necessary. Edmonton NDP MP Linda Duncan is going down, no matter how many NDP university students she recruits!!

How Thick Are They?
It's easy, reduce business taxes, increase jobs and investment income. Only NDP voters lack the intellect to understand that simple logic, oops, I mean only lefties like the Liberals, NDP and Bloc can't understand the concept of reducing taxes to encourage investment. It appears David Akins suffers from the same disease.
Something else the MSM is failing to tell people. The tax reductions has already been passed with the help of the Liberals. Yes, you heard that right, the tax reductions are already law. Why are the Liberals bleating about it, when they voted for it? They are using the emotional angle. Big, bad, corporations are getting a tax break. Those CEO's are raking in the dough, and people are starving in the streets! People forget that corporations employ people. Let the unions create jobs. Give me an example of one union that has created jobs, ever. They take dues from the workers and use those dues to get politically involved, like their support of Palestine. They are not democratic, they FORCE their members to give them money, and the members have no say in how they spend it. Talk about dictators.
Liberals are showing how hypocritical they really are, they vote for corporate tax reductions and then reverse their position and are against them. Flip flop, flip flop, like a fish out of water.
When does 40% make up a majority? The opposition are quick to tell us that ONLY 38% voted for the Conservatives and therefore a majority of people didn't. Now it appears that 40% is a majority when it comes to corporate tax increases. Okay, let's increase taxes for all those corporations that have unions, make the unions pay the new taxes from their wages. The Bloc Are Ruining Quebec
I'm sure that people in the east thought the Reform party was bad for Canada when it first arrived on the scene, but the Reform party never wanted Alberta to separate. Not like the Bloc, who actively campaign for Quebec to leave Canada.
I like Quebec in Canada. The province is unique and adds a special flavour that makes Canada more interesting, but so does PEI. Funny how you never see PEI crying for more money from the rest of Canada even though they have very little industry or job opportunities. (Thanks PEI for sending my husband to Alberta!)

They Support Our Troops....BUT!
Why would Canada not stand up in defense of Afghans, especially the women and young girls? Why would the opposition think it was acceptable to abandon those who need our help? The NDP, supposedly the party of the people, are the biggest hypocrites. Make love not war is still their motto. Unfortunately for the NDP, we have moved on from the sixties. We understand that our troops can help oppressed people better than some lefties shouting give peace a chance. Thank goodness the Liberals opened up the door for our troops to stay in a non-combat roll. They actually took a principled stand for what was best for Canada and Afghanistan. Clap, clap, I seriously applaud you! (No I am not being sarcastic!)
Canada can now hold it's head up at the NATO meeting. I will always support our troops without any "buts". They are sent into missions by our government, and they do a superior job, always. It's time for the lefty opposition to grow some balls and stop being fake pacifists. If Quebec doesn't want to support our troops, Alberta would be honoured to become the new home for the Van Doos! I suspect the Van Doos would have something to say about that, as they are proud Quebec Canadians, too bad their own province does not recognize their worth.

Lefty MP's Attack Female Conservative MP's
It's getting to be a pattern with the lefty MP's, they seem to be so weak that they have to attack female Conservative MP's.
Let's start with Iggy, today in the House, he attacked the government over not releasing any details about the mysterious third party that caused the PM to call in the RCMP on the Helena case. Hey Iggy, grab a clue, it's under investigation now, meaning no facts can be released until the issue is settled or charges have been laid. Layton continued the attack, and I thought the NDP were all about gender equality!
Then some Bloc MP was trying to attack the Minister of Fisheries about some supposed conflict of interest. She shot him down with facts, but lefties never let facts get in the way of a good smear.
Then, they called a point of order because Minister Rona had taken a picture during question period. She got up and said it was a mistake and that even though it showed the opposition hard at work she had deleted it. Too funny!
This was only one day and three females were attacked by the opposition. I guess they aren't looking for the female vote then.
As a female, I am sickened by the attacks on female MP's. It makes the male MP's look like power hungry hyenas. It's no wonder that the female vote has been transferring to the Conservatives lately. The lefties are so busy listening to the feminists that they don't realize how they appear to the normal females in Canada. The Liberals botched abortion vote is a prime example of listening only to lefty feminists and not your everyday working Mother or stay at home Mom or Grandmother.
If the opposition keep on attacking female Conservative MP's, they will lose a huge percent of the female vote. Sure, they might keep the 10% of feminists, but if they were true feminists, they would be speaking out right now about the extended attacks on females by the opposition.
What I saw when I happened to watch question period today was disgusting. From Iggy the supposed leader of the Liberals to Bloc MP's to NDP MP's and if the Greens actually had a seat in the House, I bet they would have been howling too.
Listen up you useless opposition MP's, you look like male predators. You are scoring no points with females. But, heck, don't listen to me, I'm only a Conservative female.
The Liberal party is using the same tactics as the Liberal bloggers used against me. Swarm my site with lefty comments until they forced me to put on comment moderation, then cry that I won't allow them their freedom of speech on my blog.
I'm chuckling now because they forced me to put on comment moderation, and now they have no voice on my blog unless I allow it. They have actually given me more power than I had before they harassed me into comment moderation.
Keep up the great work opposition parties, I'm sure females are looking at your parties and thinking of voting for you, because you respect women so much, you yell and scream at them during question period. What was the term we used to use....Male Chauvinist Pigs? Is that politically incorrect these days? Maybe it should be taken out of the mothballs and be dusted off for the opposition.

They Have No Morals.
I was thinking about what to post, and looking for something that struck a nerve with me today. It was a beautiful spring like day out, so I really didn't pay any attention to politics. I did start my tomatoes today, if they all come up I will have more than 250 plants to get rid of. No one in my family actually eats the things, unless they are in a pasta sauce. Tomorrow I plant my petunias, dusty miller and various other annuals. That probably gives you a good idea of where my head is, and it's not on politics.
Looking back on the past two weeks, what has struck me is how weak the opposition is. Seriously, the Liberals are going to oppose the budget but they will make sure that 10 MP's will have the flu so they don't trigger an election? An unelected Liberal leader tells us that his MP's are against the budget but they are too scared to go to the people in an election so that we can vote? How democratic is that? The NDP and Bloc are voting against the budget because it doesn't have enough "goodies" for them. They are useless. When you have a party in parliament that will not sing our national anthem, democracy has been corrupted. The media is silent about all these things.
What the Conservatives should do is all show up for the budget vote and then leave just before the vote. What would the opposition do then? The NDP and Bloc are going to vote against the budget, leaving the Liberals hanging, but the Liberals might not have enough MP's in house to carry the vote. The opposition has been playing games for the last 4 years, it's time for the Conservatives to call them on it. Now that would grab my attention!
Talk about playing games, it sickens me every time I hear them disparage our troops, linking them to torture and then saying it's not our troops they are attacking, it's our government. They yap about "supporting the troops" but then they turn around and support Omar. I want a list of all the MP's who have children in the military. They have no morals. They have no plan, and they have no credibility.
Iggy thinks we should tie our foreign support to abortion and the Bloc thinks they deserve more money from Alberta while bashing us and telling us to shut down the oilsands. I wish the oil companies would do that for just one week. If they planned it properly they wouldn't lose much in the way of production, but they would show the east that even though they buy mideast blood oil, our oil makes our economy go round. Don't believe me? Watch what happens on the markets when the price of oil goes up or down.
Our media is disgraceful. They slammed the Olympics hoping to look sophisticated to the socialist European countries, until they realized that the games were a success, and then they jumped on board. They interview only far left "experts", guaranteed to disagree with the government no matter what the issue. They think their opinions are news.
I can't believe that the Conservative government has lasted this long. They have no friends in opposition or in the public service. Every single thing they do is blown out of proportion by the biased media. Case in point Harper prorogues, it's a major news event for over three weeks. Dalton prorogues.....crickets from the media.
Even my Liberal parents are getting disgusted with CBC's bias. I find CTV way more offensive, because they are more subtle, or I should say sneaky in their coverage.

Bloc Shows It's Distain For Canada!
I loved all the athletes, they showed their pride in Canada, and were proud to watch the maple leaf fly high for them and our country. During the Olympics, the medals were for Canada, not any specific province within Canada. All athletes competed for Canada and showed their pride, whether they won a medal or not, all were united, and this united our country like no other time I can remember. It was heartwarming and showed the world how special Canada really is.
On the first day that parliament was back in action, the opposition were heckling and yelling just like they were doing before Christmas. It appears that nothing has changed with our MP's, and that again nothing will get done because of petty partisan bickering and one-up-man-ship. Did we really expect anything different?
What really steamed me was when the flame for the Paralympics was carried into the chambers and "Oh Canada" was sung, the Bloc refused to sing our national anthem. They stood there like robots, refusing to clap for our country and our athletes. I am sure that the Quebec athletes who won gold and sang our anthem are embarrassed by what the Bloc did.
Canadian athletes were embraced by all Canadians, we didn't care what province the athlete was from, we saw all of them as holders of our hearts and hopes, and boy did they deliver! Too bad the Bloc couldn't join in with the rest of the country. They look petty and pointless in this patriotic post-Olympic atmosphere.
The news should not be about how we might get a gender neutral version of "Oh Canada", the news should be about the Bloc MP's who refuse to stand up for Quebec athletes, and Canada. Their day is done. They are irrelevant. Quebec voters need to realize that a majority for the Conservatives is possible without Quebec being the deciding province. So do they want to continue voting in a separatist party that will never gain power, or vote for any of the other parties to actually get something done for Quebec?
Our nation has been joined by the Olympics, it's time for Quebec to join us, not just in the spirit of the Olympics, but everyday.

Election? Shhh, Don't Let The Opposition Know This!
So, the media are pulling for an election to raise revenues. Face it, the media has become boring, and during the weekends they are home swilling the wine while bloggers are still actively posting interesting articles you might never read in the Toronto Star. The media loves polls, that's why every media outlet has a daily poll, to test the mood of Canadians.
Some polls show the Liberals and Conservatives tied, others show one ahead of the other, though lately it's only the Conservatives who seem to be polling ahead. So, let's forget the polls and look back on the 2008 elections. The Conservatives needed 155 seats for a majority, they got 143. So they were short by 12 MP's. Let's put independent Andre in the Conservative win column, so they really only needed 11 MP's. Here is the shocker, when you look at the close races, they only needed under 7000 votes more. If 7000 more Conservatives would have voted we would have had a majority.

As a matter of fact, if you look at the Bloc votes, not even the Liberals riding as high as 30% in that province will convert those polls into actual gains in ridings. The media loves to slam Alberta for voting Conservative, but look at the Quebec numbers and they are just as bad, if not worse, but no one dares mention that little fact. Quebec is not needed anymore for a majority, because they vote for the Bloc, and cut down the votes for the traditional parties. The Bloc usually wins about 50 of the 75 seats in Quebec, which reduces the Bloc to a rump party like the NDP. They will never be in power, and so have no impact except that the Bloc MP's will get huge pensions from the Canada they want to separate from.
If Danny Williams hadn't gone on a rampage against the Conservatives, we might have had a majority. Now I love Newfoundlanders, but do you have to be such followers? Could you not vote Williams provincially and Conservatives federally? Speaking of the Atlantic provinces, what have the Liberals ever done for you? Seriously, tell me, post a comment telling me how you are better off because you vote Liberal. You had 13 years of Liberal rule, how did that work out for you? Did the cod suddenly reappear? Why is my PEI husband still here in Alberta earning his living? Will Atlantic Canada ever wake up and realize that the Liberals are users, and they have been using you for years. PEI has 140,000 people and they have 4 MP's, Alberta has over 3 million people and they only have 28 MP's, or 107,000 people per MP. How is that fair? According to those statistics PEI should only have ONE MP! They can prevent a Conservative majority because they get more MP's than they should.
I am tired of the east dictating who should be in power. Most Atlantic provinces along with Quebec do not have the population to support the power they have. Tiny PEI has 3 times the power over Alberta in our confederation then they should. WHY?
Funny I don't hear the judges talking about our Charter of Rights when it comes to some provinces having an unequal share of MP's for their population. I thought our system was based on representation by population. Silly me.

How Dysfunctional Is That?
This little piece of fluff just cries out for a response:
Lady, when you have your head stuck up the elephant's butt, you are just as blind!
It just happens that this lady is from socialist Quebec, so I guess we need to try to understand her thinking.
PM Harper, is the Prime Minister because in our system, his party won more votes/MP's than any other political party, therefore they are the government. I guess she is still hoping for a lefty coalition to grab power from the knuckle dragging Conservatives.
Acting Canadian, that would be Iggy, he's just visiting after 34 years. He only needs 2 more years as an MP then he gets a Canadian pension for life! Sweet! Iggy thought he wanted an election, then he didn't, now he might, but not necessarily. When asked if he had tried to meet with PM Harper, Iggy did not answer, because he was so busy getting crowned by the backroom boys, he didn't bother. He told us that Harper was going to wear the recession. So who was making Parliament dysfunctional? Let's see....
Just weeks after the election, the NDP, Liberals and Bloc tried to form a coalition of the socialists, but being socialists they held meetings and signed agreements, and not much else, so poof...the Canadian citizens, acting Canadian, clipped that idea in the bud.

Even my 16 year old knows that Iggy is just visiting, he saw the ads, he had no clue who Iggy was before seeing them. I suspect many people who are here "acting Canadian", like Iggy, saw them as well.
The opposition has given no help to the government during a recession, they have been too busy playing silly opposition games.

A blind man's view of an elephant never ceases to amaze me. L. Ian Macdonald's take on last week's events in Parliament is at least 100% off the mark.
For the first time in over a year, Michael Ignatieff has forced Stephen Harper to act Canadian -- by solving a disagreement through negotiation and compromise.
Minority governments can function very well if both sides want them to. Pearson proved that and we got some of our greatest policies during that time -- the National Health Act to name just one.
Harper deliberately misspeaks when he says that Canadians elected him to govern the country. Harper isn't very good at math; there are more MPs against him than for him.
Ever since his government has held the reins he has done everything he can think of to make Parliament dysfunctional by making every vote a confidence vote. That's not the way a minority Parliament works, and what's worse, Harper knows this.
But thanks to Iggy, the Prime Minsiter got off his high horse and decided to negotiate. Stephen Harper has lived here all his life and he still hasn't figured out how to be Canadian. Maybe he needs to live abroad for a while to figure it out.

No Election? Who Won?
Actually I think both PM Harper and Liberals won, but Iggy lost. He lost his credibility, he is now Dion redone. The Liberals won because they have now distanced themselves from the lefty coalition.
The NDP and Bloc lost big time because they have no horse in the race. They have been cut out of the game, that is why they are so mad at Iggy. They have become irrelevant, through their own fault. They thought voting down everything the Conservatives proposed would strengthen their base, but they just looked like amateurs today, whining because they were not part of the "blue ribbon committee". Why should they be? They were playing games with Canadians, voting down bills before they even read them. How can anyone take them seriously? They are now the true fringe vote. Will Quebec get it?
Here is a supposed expert opinion:

Quebec isn't more mature, they are socialists who think the government should support them. Period. Socialism isn't working so great in the European Union. The only reason Quebec gets away with their socialism is that the rest of Canada supports them with 8 BILLION dollars a year. They are a have not province but they think they can survive on their own. Why are they content to vote for a separatist party that can never gain power? That shows their lack of maturity, they are happy to play fourth fiddle in the federal game. I say, bye, and good riddance!
This was a good week for the Conservatives, they showed their ability to work with the Liberals, and they marginalized the socialist NDP and Communist Bloc. The Conservatives and Liberals have won, while the hardcore lefties lost. Iggies problem is that he now has to make nice to the lefty Liberals in his own party, and there are a lot of them.
Watch PM Harper today, putting the NDP in their place, it is too funny! Even the Speaker was having trouble trying not to laugh!

Doug McArthur: I was just going to say I think this is a sign of a kind of fundamental weakness in our political party system, this inability to have a conversation with people about the real issues in an intelligent way. And I think Quebec is a little bit more mature, as you said. They handle it better. They point to the future and talk about the future and how you’re going to have to balance things, and so on. But the rest of the country, political parties just don’t seem to be able to engage in this discussion, and that’s unfortunate. I think they need to look at themselves about that.

A Salute To Our Veterans!
I think about all those 19 and 20 year old's, who left their farms and families to fight for Canada, in a war where Canada had not been invaded. Our reputation from WWI was that of fierce fighters and it carried through into WWII.
I was pleasantly surprised when I asked my oldest son today if he knew what D-Day was about. He knew about Juno and that Canadian soldiers were feared by the Germans for their superior fighting skills. I told him how impressed I was that they had studied it in school. He quickly corrected my misconception, it was the internet he had gotten his information from, not the school. He has been busy studying globalization in school, not history. On his own, he has researched our military history. Good for him! Shame on our schools. History is important and getting the perspective of people from 65 years ago is very interesting. Here is a radio report from way back in time.
A very quick summary of Canada at war will give you an idea of the valour of our troops.
They are not teaching this in school, even when I was in school years ago, our proud history as a fighting nation was not taught, luckily I enjoyed reading and a book (can't remember which one now) about the Battle of The Bulge and the Diary of Anne Frank, woke me up to the fact that socialism was a threat to freedom.
Much as I dislike CTV, today they provided really good coverage of the D-day ceremonies. I suspect that they were forced to because they wanted to cover Obama, and it just happened that PM Harper was there as well. Go and listen to both PM Harpers speech and President Obamas speech (On the right side you can select the videos).
Both speeches were very good, I noticed that PM Harper actually spoke from his heart. You know that he genuinely supports our troops and understands that we must stand strong as a nation against any terrorist threats.
President Obama, a noted orator, was speaking the words, but his delivery was flat. He read the speech that someone else wrote but there was no passion, no conviction, no fire.
I want to thank our veterans for keeping Canada safe. What an incredible job our troops do. Maybe Canada has never suffered from a terrorist attack because they know we are warriors at heart, and that we will never back down from a fight we believe in. That is why I get so upset about the NDP and the Bloc, they weaken our country by their sickening passivity. The Liberals only support something they think will gain them votes, that might be even worse than being pacifists.
To our troops from yesterday and those fighting today....THANK YOU.

Bring It On Obama!

Last trip across Canada, we stopped at streams to let our dogs drink, until we hit Ontario, no way were we letting our dogs drink out of those brown polluted rivers.

Canadian church leaders head to northern Alberta tomorrow to explore the theological, moral and ethical implications of the oilsands.
The clergy aren't the only people interested in the oilsands this week.
Down in Washington, D.C., one of North America's top energy research consultants will testify before the U.S. Congress on the importance of the oilsands to future energy supply.
Canada now supplies 19% of U.S. energy needs, but if oilsands production is accelerated, that could rise to 37%, according to a new report by IHS Cambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA).
That in turn would translate into an injection of billions of dollars into the Canadian economy. Alberta isn't the only province that benefits. This massive industrial project creates a national demand for jobs, technology and manufactured goods.
The enormous tax revenue generated by all this activity benefits everyone.

CALGARY — In a remote part of the already remote Grasslands National Park in the southwest corner of Saskatchewan, a herd of plains bison is in the midst of calving season with another bumper crop of babies.
Three years ago, 72 pure-blooded animals were introduced to the 181-square-kilometre refuge as part of a Parks Canada initiative to bring large herbivores to an area that hasn't felt bison hooves in more than 120 years.
Now, that little herd has become prolific beyond expectations.
The animals in Grasslands were shipped as two-year-olds from Elk Island National Park near Edmonton, where Mr. Olson was based for 25 years. The youngsters acclimatized in a paddock before stepping beyond the gate where they had to learn how to behave like bison without guidance from adults.
