Find Your Voice! Stop Being Dictated To By Lefties!

The media needs to sell papers so "attack ads" sells more than "truth ads". Let's get real, all political parties put out ads, some are serious, some are pointed at policies, some are pointed at leaders, and some are even funny. No matter how hard the media tries to shape public opinion on the ads, if they ring true with the intended audience, they are successful ads.

Here' s an ad that I think should have been very effective:

Seeing as Doer was re-elected, it couldn't have been as effective as desired. One of the most effective ads, that I remember from the 2006 election, wasn't even by a political party, and it wasn't intended to be political, but every single time I saw it, I thought about the Liberals, so thanks Capital One!

Whoever does the Capital One ads needs a raise! That ad alone helped to give votes to the Conservative party because adscam was still fresh in voters minds.

The media coverage is making Liberals into victims of big bad Conservatives. Poor babies. As if the Liberals or NDP have never put out "attack ads", like this one:

That ad didn't work as Brad Wall is now the Premier of Saskatchewan. I tend to like the funny engaging ads the best, but I remember the truly negative ads the most, like the Liberals "Soldiers in our Streets" ad that never actually aired, but the blog-sphere got the word out on that one really quickly, and the TV news stations were forced to air it.

Do "attack ads" work? Yes, but mostly only for the people who have already made up their minds. Can they give the final push into determining my vote? Probably. I liked Stockwell Day's jetski stunt, it made him look young and dynamic, compared to Chretien. Then the lefty media got really cruel, calling him "Doris Day", and a bright star was dimmed. I still really like him and think he got a raw deal from the Liberal friendly media, but that's what Conservatives have to expect. Steven Harper get's no breaks from the media, but he is too strong in character to buckle under the lefty media pressure, and that has the media in a tizzy! He makes them look like fools, and it looks good on them.

Here is an idea, let's take the media on. Blog more about their bias, comment more at their sites, and watch the political shows less. Lower their viewership and therefore their ad income. I would love to see what has happened to CTV's viewership since Duffy has left. I suspect it has gone down. Conservatives are not noted for being "activists", I have never protested anything in my life, but I find it very easy to email my MLA, Senator, or MP, depending on what I am ticked off about at the time. It is getting easier to make your point by contacting companies, like those who have said they are going to boycott the oilsands, and then quickly back down because the silent majority is finally finding it's voice. Find your voice, stop being drowned out and dictated to by the radical, boisterous lefties.

ALL MP's Should Get A Real Job!

Before they jump from a university political science degree into politics, they should really get real jobs!

Let's look at some random MP's bios.

Malcolm Allen

Member of Parliament, Welland
Skills Training and Apprenticeships
Deputy Critic Food Security (CFIA)
Deputy Critic Agriculture
----------------
Mauril Bélanger was born and raised in the town of Mattawa, in mid-north Ontario. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Ottawa. Mauril and his wife Catherine are proud grandparents.
Prior to entering politics, Mauril held various positions in the public and private sectors. In the early 1980s, he was an assistant to the late Right Honourable Jean-Luc Pepin; afterwards, he worked as a stockbroker and, in the early 1990s, was Chief of Staff for the Chair of the Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton, Mr. Peter Clark.
--------------------
Ron Cannan was first elected as Member of Parliament for Kelowna-Lake Country in January, 2006.

Ron successfully uses his experience and knowledge as a long-time Kelowna City Councillor and Regional Government representative to be an effective and enthusiastic champion for his riding and his constituents.

His greatest satisfaction comes from helping local organizations and citizens obtain the support they require from Ottawa.
 -------------
John (Cummins)holds a M.A. from University of British Columbia (1988) and a B.A. from University of Western Ontario (1966). In his early years, John worked in the pulp and paper industry in Ontario, the oil fields of Alberta, and on the construction of the Bennett hydroelectric dam in northern B.C. He taught school in the Northwest Territories and in the Peace River district of northern Alberta, then spent fifteen years teaching in Delta. John is also a commercial fisherman; he has owned and operated commercial fishing boats in B.C. for over 20 years.

So much for bilingual Canada there Michel, you hypocrite!

A random, close your eyes and click on a MP, survey shows that only one MP has any industry experience at all. This is scary because they are making the laws and policies that impact our working lives. Four out of five have no idea what working in a non-union, non-professional/academic environment actually means. All MP's should get a real job before they get elected. I do not mean a government service sector job, I mean a REAL private industry job.

I urge you all to check on your MP. They might be nice guys/gals like my MP, but ask yourself, what have they done except get elected?

Here's some of my MP's bio:

He received a Bachelor of Social Sciences from the University of Ottawa, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alberta.

Great, education is a wonderful thing! No mention of a job except as MP.  He presently chairs the finance committee, and is doing a great job, but I wonder if he knows what a balanced budget actually means? Did he take any accounting courses at university? Social sciences...maybe some economics courses then.  Arts....would that be political science? What does one study at university when they study political science? The art of getting elected? How to shout down your opponent in Question Period? I don't mean to pick on my MP, because I feel he is a very good MP. He is active in the community, spends lots of time talking to his constituents, and never seems to make waves with any party members.

My point is that our politicians need to stop being politicians only worried about getting re-elected. They need to start thinking about what is best for Canada, now and in the future. The reform party used to ask their constituents how they wanted their MP to vote on controversial issues like gay marriage, and the MP honoured their wishes, no matter what the party stand was, no matter how the MP personally felt about the issue. It was refreshing and it empowered the voters not the MP or the party. I miss it.

Maybe our MP's should go to a training camp. Send the Bloc MP's to Alberta to work in the oil patch, and send the Alberta MP's to PEI to fish for tuna and lobsters. If nothing else, it would be highly entertaining!

Education is wonderful, but your BA/MA/PHd gets you nowhere towards a career, unless you want to be a MP or teach. In an election your education doesn't really matter, and it shouldn't . Same thing goes for all levels of government, provincial and municipal, everyone gets a fair shot, it doesn't mean they are competent. This is why MP's get stuck in the polling muck, they have never had real jobs, and if they did, they have ignored what their constituents want, they vote the party line instead. Party loyalty should never be put before your individual constituents wishes, like happened with the gun registry vote.

Get a real job MP's, it will help you understand what your voters are going through. Anyone can get elected, you don't even need a degree, if you are willing to listen to your constituents. You need your feet on the ground and your ear towards what your voters want, not what you think they want. Ford is an excellent example. Ford had a platform, and he stuck to it. All parties should be studying what he did right against all odds.

Get a job, then run for office, we would have a better run Parliament.

Pray for Andrew Lawton, God will listen.

Conservatives, Not Hungry Anymore?

I was thinking about why I'm not really that engaged with politics right now, and I came to the conclusion that I'm not hungry for a win anymore. Conservatives are in power now, not clawing their way out of opposition. The Liberals have been reduced to a rump party of Toronto/Montreal, and the NDP and Greens are irrelevant as usual.

Last election I just wasn't fired up because my MP wins by margins of 60% or more. We didn't have to fight the Liberals anymore, especially with Dion as their leader, Iggy is no better. I will volunteer in NDP MP Linda Duncan's riding next election because that is the only challenging seat left in Alberta.

If a lowly volunteer is unmotivated, how about our Conservative MP's? Have they lost the fire in their guts? Are they taking votes for granted? Are they just trying to hang on to power? Have they forgotten the voters who got them there in the first place? Here in Alberta, they know they will get reelected, not very motivating. If they aren't motivated, why should we be?

The long gun issue is one that might motivate Conservatives, but what else? What's on your wish list? The HRC's are at the top of mine.

Come Out, Come Out, Wherever You Are!

Where were our MP's this summer? I got a newsletter from mine, but heard nothing else about his activities. I am also wondering if our riding got any of that stimulus money. Supposedly most of the stimulus money went only to Conservative riding's, so I imagine mine got some, but I haven't seen any of those "Action Plan" signs anywhere in the riding.

I find the newsletters dry and too political. They give no sense of my MP's personality, or what he is doing in our community. The Conservatives are flat, faceless and invisible. I don't even know what they stand for anymore.

I want passion for Canada, and want them to stand up for Canada. I don't want negative ads, I want them shouting their pride for Canada and how well we handled the recession. I want to hear that they still support our troops.

I want them to stop being scared to say anything that the Liberal MSM might take wrong. The Liberal MSM is always going to find fault with anything any Conservative says, so forget about worrying about them. They will get you no matter how hard you try to please them.

As a matter of fact, I want to see Conservatives taking the media to task. I want them to show some balls! I want them on David Rutherford, helping him get the message out. I am sick and tired of the lefties making the rules in committee, and then the Conservatives getting blamed for doing nothing.

I want all Conservative MP's front and center and in the media's face, everyday. I want the undecided voters to know who Rona Ambrose, Mike Lake and all Conservative MP's are, and most importantly what they are doing for Canada.

Come out, come out wherever you are! Quit being afraid of your own pension shadows and work for Canadians. The undecided voters want something to vote for, not against!

There Is No Honour In Murder!

Honour killings, where's the honour? Who's honour? Some 7th century immigrant male who thinks he is superior to any female? It is disgusting. It does not belong in Canada. You will all nod your heads in agreement, but many will fail to understand the deep fear women live with everyday.

I had the chance to talk with a beautiful young woman from Afghanistan. I mentioned sharia law and her eyes went wide with fear, she stood up and in a very soft voice stated that she hoped we would never have sharia in Canada. I could see her shivering with just the thought that Canada would allow sharia. She was lucky that when her parents immigrated they did it for all the right reasons, and one of those was to escape sharia laws. She is being allowed to integrate into Canadian culture, and understands that females are equal here. She went back to visit her grandma in Afghanistan and when I asked her if she would go back there to help her people, she shook her head no. She liked Canada because it was safe.

I know that males do not understand this issue. My own MP does not understand the fear that women live with because of Islam. In my last discussion with him, he was mad at me because of this blog post:
When a demographic becomes too overwhelming, will it mean changes forced on the minority, like sharia law? Females should be very scared of that happening. Feminists, who trumpeted womens rights should be worried about our female Muslims who are suffering from discrimination and a lack of education. They are considered slaves by Islam, only good for breeding. Well we all know that feminists don't like breeders, so maybe that is why they do so little to defend Muslim women.
He was listening to a Liberal board member, hiding herself as a Conservative (they do that a lot in Alberta, poor things, that's how we got stuck with Stelmach), who complained about my blog, who either spent hours going through every blog post I had ever made to discredit me, or I suspect listened to her Liberal/NDP friend Gayle (who has been suspiciously absent from my blog ever since...guilt???? HA, as if Liberals knew what that was.).

To his credit, my MP doesn't support sharia law, but he also doesn't appear have a clue about how strongly women really feel about the suppression of their rights because of sharia. Even if it is not legal in Canada, you have to suspect it is being practiced. Honour killings are a huge hint!!! DUH!!

Thankfully Rona is doing something about the issue:

@Truthjustice

You are right, which is why I did not single out Islam.

It is in the interest of ALL religious organizations, and they were quite good at it up until the last 100 years in this continent... it's still common practice in many parts of the world.

Not enough praise can be given to the real feminists of the early 20th century who proudly stood up and said NO MORE.

You would think the horrid oppression of women in other countries would be the main focus of modern feminists, however Western feminism today has more to do with socialism than actual feminism, the fema-nazi's you see today are concerned with equality in outcome rather than equality in opportunity.

Sassylassie

6:54 PM on July 12, 2010

Go haunt some other chick who is actually afraid of your Islamic supremacists' drivel. Of course I'm afraid of Islam, as a female I'd be property of men to despose of at will, killed on a whim, denied gender equality and forced to run around dressed in a body bag. What's to like Spioza, I'd rather be dead than forced to convert to the Religion of violence and hate.

Canadian females like SassieLassie have a huge advantage, they don't back down to any male. We have been raised as equal to our brothers, not as fodder for suicide bombs, or slaves to our fathers. Canadian males, including I suspect, my MP, do not understand what Sassy is saying, Islam scares us. It seeks to destroy all the strides we have made to be considered equal, not slaves to males. MP's of all stripes need to stop pandering for votes and start protecting ALL Canadians.

Post Expense Records ONLINE To Keep MP's INLINE!

If MP's should have the right to look at all military documents in a time of war and potentially cause the troops harm, why can't the taxpayers see the same MP's expense reports?

Something smells bad here. Why aren't the Liberals and NDP shouting about the lack of accountability if MP's expense reports aren't audited by Sheila Fraser? They should be at the Conservatives throats over this issue. Instead we get this garbage from a Liberal MP....

MPs, Mr. Szabo explained to a reporter, get sued a lot -- for sexual harrassment and wrongful dismissal, for example -- and naturally they have to fight, settle or pay out these lawsuits on the taxpayers' dime. “If [expenses] were opened to the Auditor General and open to the public, all of a sudden people would jump to conclusions without having all the facts,” he said. “If you identify the member, or the law firm or all this other stuff, all of a sudden people could say ... what’s wrong with this member, this member is getting sued all the time.”

Let's use his argument and turn it to the Afghan issue....

If [documents] were opened to the MP's and open to the public, all of a sudden people would jump to conclusions without having all the facts.

It's apparently a win for DEMOCRACY when the MP's get to see all the documents regarding the Afghan war, but DEMOCRACY would be distorted if the taxpayer got to see what MP's are spending our money on. Silence.

I can understand why the Conservatives would be reluctant to allow the audit. Our biased media would only report on supposed Conservative wrong doings, and give the opposition parties a pass. If you doubt me, why hasn't the media reported on Liberal MP Pablo? Why hasn't CBC or CTV been hammering on his accident where he failed to blow, and was therefore arrested? How about Pat Martins assistant yelling and protesting at the Ann Coulter lecture? Silence.

Given that the media is on the oppositions side, why is the opposition fighting an audit of their expense accounts? They have the majority at committee, they could order it done, but they refuse to allow the audit. What are our MP's hiding? Where is the transparency? The accountability? Silence.

If the opposition is so sure that those Afghan documents are necessary for an understanding of what went on during a war, why are they hiding their expense account documents? Maybe the Speaker needs to rule on this issue, the same way he ruled on the last one...open up the books, it is the taxpayers rights that are being trampled here.

I guess the opposition thinks a witch hunt to find an Afghan hit with a shoe is more important than taxpayers finding out that we have been hit with bricks.

So, if the opposition can whine and use Parliament as a tool to get documents for purely political reasons, then taxpayers want Parliament to do the same with our MP's.

Open up the books! We are not talking chump change here, we are talking about $500,000,000! See all those zeros, that's our money, and we have no clue how it is being spent. Let Sheila audit those books! This refusal looks bad on all parties. I guess the opposition can't find a way to make it so that only the Conservative MP's would be audited, if they could, they would be demanding that Sheila Fraser get a look at the expense accounts. Seeing as how every MP would be treated as equal, they are opposing it.

MP's should post their expense records online, that might keep them inline!!

The Opposition/Media Need To Grow Up!

What has been happening lately has been so partisan by the opposition parties that it should wake us up and make us realize that there are no adults running the opposition parties. The Liberals and NDP are in the House shrieking about abortions and our troops being involved in torturing Afghans. It is sickening. Watch this CTV Power Play interview of Liberal and NDP MP's. They are so juvenile it's hard to believe they represent real Canadians.
Opposition cries like babies.

The comments show how dangerous it is for PM Harper, there are a lot of Harper Haters out there. I suspect most of those Haters are university students sitting at their computers in their parents basements, posting under numerous names, repeating the socialist mantra that their professors have indoctrinated them with, because they are too stupid to think for themselves.

The media is leading the way, but they have shot their load too soon and shown their hand to Canadians. This is not a game. This is not a university debate with mindless rah rah cheer leading. The media is engaged in an all out war against anything Conservative. They are fighting for their lives and think that lefties are going to save them because 60% of voters are socialists. They fail to understand that those 60% will do nothing to support them. The 40% who are Conservative, are the ones who own businesses, employ workers and don't have the time for silly parlor games. They are also the ones who have the money to advertise.

Look at the failed prorogation protests. The media spent weeks yapping about how upset the "grassroots" were and then nobody showed up to protest. More people showed up to protest the coalition by far, but the media refused to cover it.

How do we fight back? Stop going to CBC, CTV, Global, Globe and Mail, and the Toronto Star. Go to blogs. We need a few blogs that will summarize what those sites are covering. Send your traffic to that blog, and read the article there. Email advertisers, tell them you will not buy their products because you disagree with the politics of the station their ad is running on. Get FOX news, and listen to radio talk shows like Rutherford.

You do not have to personally go out and protest, you can do it right from your computer. Start your own facebook group to abolish the CBC, the Canadian Wheat Board, and any other lefty organization that ticks you off. Send letters to the editor. Call up your MP, that should be real fun if you happen to have a lefty MP.

Your MP will react to constituents calling them about issues, make sure you call them and let them know what you want them to do for you. We should be calling all opposition MP's to tell them to stop the clown act and start acting like adults. They need to grow up. Even my Liberal parents told me they can't watch the news anymore because it is so biased, and that was at Christmas, before the media really revved up into high whine gear.

They are acting like babies, so let's give them a soother....quit watching them. It's hard to sell advertising when you have no viewers, except for CBC, they get $1.2 BILLION a year from us taxpayers so they can give us the finger and not worry about losing their jobs.

I say, give them the finger right back, stop watching them and call up their advertisers and tell them you refuse to buy their products. Boycott the biased media. Let's do a FOX here in Canada, buy the National Post and the Sun productions, let's get their numbers up so companies will advertise with them.

Keeping In Touch Or Out Of Touch?

So, I get a flyer from my MP called, "Keeping in Touch", nice that he wants to get in touch, but it's like he sat down for two minutes and wrote it. It talks about the upcoming budget, and the committee that he chairs, but it doesn't state anything about what he has done in our community over the holidays (and he has done lots if you go to his web page). The next two pages are the same questions you can answer online at www.fin.gc.ca and the last page asks me about the issues that are important to me.

What I can't understand is what was the purpose of the flyer? Nothing about policy, nothing about what government money has been allocated to my riding, nothing about the future direction of the government, just a bunch of white space. If I had just moved into the area, I would have no idea who this guy is or why I should vote for him. If these flyers are meant to inform, then this didn't inform me of anything. I'm sure he's not the only one sending out these flyers, and I know he is a really hard working and very well respected MP, but looking at the flyer you wouldn't know it. There's no there there!

The same can be said for the Conservative web site. Their idea of multimedia is a photo album!! Can they not afford a camera man?? We have to rely on the biased media to report on what happens at all these meetings. They are really good at asking us for money, but not so good at communicating what the party is doing. They should have speeches posted from all the Ministers and especially the PM, but when I click on the Youtube link, it doesn't work!! Communication is the life blood of the party, and knowing that the media is biased against the Conservatives, they should be taping and posting everything they can so that we can see what really happened, like at Davos.

A great example of what our MP's should be doing to communicate with us, is this post from Maxime Bernier, he gets communications! Make sure you watch the videos, he gives an excellent speech about what he sees as the direction for Conservatives. I hope that he soon gets the industry portfolio back because he did an excellent job in that position.

Keeping in touch? A flyer to constituents is only one way to engage your constituents, but at least make it count, make it engaging. My flyer went right into the garbage because I had already gone to the finance site and entered my requests for the next budget, the most important being to extend the home improvement credit. MP's need to use all the tools at their disposal, and the Blogging Tories are a force that they are ignoring, except for Maxime.

My prorogation video has over 500 views, that's more than double the number of protesters who showed up in Edmonton. I bet that I get more views on my blog any given day than my MP's web page gets in a year. In the last election lots of bloggers promoted their Conservative candidate, and I am sure that it made a difference in some of the close ridings. Yet many MP's don't even know that the Blogging Tories exist. Too bad, because we are a powerful voice for the Conservative cause. The dippers and libs have their own blogging community, but it is nothing like the Blogging Tories. The Conservative party needs to look at how Obama won, bloggers were a huge part of his win.

So, keeping in touch? How about out of touch?

What Has Your MP Done For You Lately?

I was trying to figure out what my MP has done lately, for us, the constituents in his area. I couldn't think of anything off of the top of my head. I did a google search and found this:

James Rajotte, MP for Edmonton Leduc. Standard boiler plate, I'm a great guy stuff.

How many of you have met your MP? How many of you have taken the time to email them about your concerns? How many of you have gone to a town hall meeting?

Most of us go to work, come home and could care less about anything going on in Ottawa. I read on Blogging Tories that the opposition is stuck on the Afghan prisoners being tortured issue like a 45 record, but in my world, I could care less about this issue. Most Canadians are not listening. The polls show that fact. When the Liberals were threatening an election, the Conservatives came close to majority territory. Now that we are back to normal, the Conservatives have gone back to 37% support. Why? Who is paying attention anymore knowing that an election is not likely until 2010/2011. Notice that the Liberals have flat lined, it appears they are dead, or close to it.

H/T Canadian Sense

Personally, I think the opposition are looking like idiots for harping on the Taliban issue. They thought they had a WINNER with the Mulroney issue. That died when Canadians realized they had been hoodwinked by some very partisan Liberals into thinking this was an issue, and that commission cost us millions. Now, the opposition are yelling for another commission into the Afghan torture issue. Not going to happen. I wonder if Bill Graham the Liberal Minister in charge of Afghanistan in 2006 will be called by the committee, or will the majority opposition block his appearance? Funny how they only listen to one side of the story, and the media only reports that one side.

With all the junk the opposition is throwing at the government, have you emailed your MP? Have you gone to their office and told them what you want to see done? What has your MP done for you lately?

Our MP's are elected by us to carry out our wishes, not the wishes of their party. I applaud any MP who clearly states their position on issues, like abortion.

My MP is apparently suffering from Ottawa flu, because he has forgotten who elects him to represent us, hint, it's the constituents.

Seriously, what has your MP done for you lately? Give me some examples, something to make me feel good about our federal government. What are the bureaucrats doing to make our lives better? What is the department of the environment doing to us.

Three levels of government exist, federal, provincial and municipal. They all suck, like vampires, off of only one taxpayer. US. Those greenies protesting, the arts funding, and the daycare advocates, just to name a few, all suck off of the middle class people who work hard and lead respectful and moral lives. Maybe those people should try living off of the government teat. If they did I bet none of them could afford to go to Copenhagen.

All that money being spent, and I see no benefit from it. Our Conservative MP's are letting swelled heads dictate their agendas, common sense has flown out the window.

What has your MP done for you lately?

Best Of QP, May 6, 2008

I am going to try doing these "Best of Question Period" mini-videos as often as I can, but they are very time consuming to make. First you need to record the clips you want, then you need to edit them, then you need to get the video on Youtube, then finally you need to write a post on your blog. Phew, I'm tired. It's worth it as long as people click and watch the video though. So, here's todays "Best of..."

Enjoy, I'm off to bed.

Yeah Women!

International Women's Day, is a day for women to rally. CTVNews is complaining about how few companies have female CEO's, while women in Afghanistan rally for peace. For me, everyday is women's day. While we complain about equal pay, Afghanistan women just want their children to be safe to play.

Young, old: over 1,000 Afghan women mark International Women's Day in Kandahar

Young women know a different Afghanistan than generations past - they can go to school and find work.

But neither they nor their elders know peace yet, and many said Saturday that is the only thing holding back the full advancement of women in Afghan society.

"When security becomes good, when it becomes safe and we feel we can leave our children outside, no bomb blasts, no kidnapping, nothing, that's when things will be better for women," said Rangina Farescshta, one of the women who attended a rally organized by the provincial women's council in Kandahar.

Funny how PM Harper welcomed female Afghan Parliamentarians to Canada, and not one article about it. Wonder why? HA! (there is no media bias, there is no media bias, there ....)

Meanwhile, back at home, what are our Canadian lefty female MP's busy doing? Voting against Bill C-484 to Protect the rights of the unborn. The threat of not being able to freely kill babies is more important to these rabid feminists than protecting them. Maybe they should switch places with the women in Afghanistan, might give them a bit of a different prospective on what is important. Not holding my breath on that one.

Those MP's are upset that the SOW's funding was increased, but only for real programs that deliver real results. No more advocates, researchers, or useless groups that produce papers and do nothing for actual women. If these groups are so important to women, let them fund raise, stop sucking off the public teat.

What have the feminists accomplished? What are they celebrating today? What can they be proud of doing for women?

The right of all women to have an abortion for any reason, at any time in their pregnancy. Wow, that's impressive. NOT!
