The Liberals issued a talking points memo to their party members Monday, saying the byelections were a referendum on the Conservatives.
"If the Conservatives fail to win all of the seats in tonight's byelections, it will be a signal that Canadians are still not willing to turn over the keys to such a partisan and incompetent government," the party maintained.
The talking points also said that the Grits have not held the ridings in "in 30, 40 50 years," while the Tories "have held all four in recent memory."
Now that is so funny, the Liberals expect the Conservatives to win ALL 4 ridings or it reflects badly on them? How about the Liberals at least increasing the vote percentage in a riding or two? Or are Liberals colluding with the NDP?
Let's see last election in New Westminster--Coquitlam:
Close race, the Conservatives just about won. They got 38.8% to the NDP's 41.8%. The Liberals had 11.3% of the vote. Now look at the by-election results so far:
Liberals are at 9.1% so far. The Green party vote has totally collapsed, in BC no less. So are lefties voting for the lefty candidate that can win against the Conservatives? A coalition of sorts? Did Liberal voters in the BC riding switch to NDP? Just when reports are saying that the New Liberal Leader Donolo is going to try and get the NDP votes? Chucker Canuck has the scoop on that one.
