Dirty Oil? Nope, Dirty PC Election.

It's bad enough having to listen to Red Ali yapping about how she talked to "international" nobodies, she is so arrogant, she thinks that is going to impress us, but now we have unions interfering with the election. I told you in an earlier post about receiving a very biased robocall from the Alberta Federation of Labour, and it appears I am not the only one! Contact Elections Alberta and complain. You know if this was the lefties they would already be protesting in front of the Legislature.

The Alberta Federation of Labour is being investigated by Elections Alberta after conducting a provincial telephone poll decrying the Wildrose Party.
In a robocall telephone poll that called 1.54 million Albertans from April 17 to April 18, the federation asked “do you support or do you oppose the Wildrose plan to use taxpayer money to subsidize corporate, for-profit health care?”
If someone misses the call, a taped message is left by AFL President Gil McGowan pleading with conservative-minded voters that “if you care about medicare, Wildrose is not the answer.”
Elections Alberta says it has received numerous complaints against the AFL about the calls.
And the Wildrose Party is alleging the poll breaks laws that require third-party advertisers to be registered with Elections Alberta. Violators of the law can face fines of up to $100,000 in court.
“We have opened a file and will determine if the AFL was in compliance or not in compliance,” said Drew Westwater, a spokesman with Elections Alberta.
I also received another call tonight, but my husband answered it so I do not know who it was from. It asked two questions, which leader is the best, and what candidate will you vote for. The really sneaky thing they did was change the order of the button you pressed.

Which party leader do you support:

1 = Liberal, 2= NDP, 3= PC 4= Wildrose

Which candidate will you vote for?

2 = Liberal, 3= NDP, 4= PC, 5= Wildrose

Do you see what they did? They made Wildrose  number 4 for your response to the first question, and then made the PC's number 4 for your response to the second question.

If other people are like me, they put their finger on the 4 button so that they can answer Wildrose for all of the questions asked. Forum surveyed me earlier this week and asked me about 10 questions where number 4 was always Wildrose. Were they just conditioning me? I don't know if this was a Forum poll, because hubby didn't pay attention to who was calling.

What this will do, for those who aren't such survey wonks as me, is make sure that those who answered Wildrose on the first question, will likely have answered PC on the second question. Biased poll taking, again!

On top of all the biased polls here in Alberta, we also have this little gem:

The local Wildrose office was buzzing Thursday, as candidates Ethane Jarvis and Todd Loewen worked damage control on reports of thousands of ‘robo-call’-type announcements making their way through the region.
Loewen and Jarvis claim the calls, which some residents receive up to seven times per day, are not authorized by the Wildrose Party.
Supportive automated phone calls were made by the candidates on April 13, as well as April 16. Jarvis suspects the perpetrator recorded the message and is now spamming residents with phone calls.
“Those (four) numbers have been pushing out calls in obscene amounts,” said Jarvis. “They are fraudulent calls that are upsetting people.”
The Wildrose office in Grande Prairie has made calls to the RCMP, Elections Alberta and the Canadian Radio-Television Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) to investigate, but a full investigation cannot be completed until after the election on Monday.
The campaign office has traced two of the four numbers to businesses in Calgary, but Jarvis is unsure if the companies in question are behind the phone calls.
Notice that nothing can be done about it until after the election? Well Elections Alberta could send out a message to voters that this is happening, and it is not Wildrose doing it! Rumours are that the PC campaigne is being run from Toronto. This would make sense because no true Albertan would use smears like we have seen this election.  Our electoral system is being hi-jacked by immature babies who do not like it if they don't get their own way.

If you can stand to go over to the CBC, watch Danielle get booed by the econuts, and hold her own! It's awesome. Watch the three stooges repeating the eco-mantra. This alone should guarantee Danielle a majority!

NO Pipelines, NO Tankers, NO Social Programs!

BC, land of the free to be hypocritical. Their greenies are protesting a pipeline to Kitimat BC because, well, just because. Okay, they are worried about oil spills from the pipeline. Do they know that a pipeline from Alberta to Vancouver has existed for over 50 years, without a spill?

As a matter of fact, even the far left Tyee, has an article that shows an increase in oil tanker traffic from Vancouver. Do the people living in Vancouver know that a oil pipeline runs under the city? One or two commentators show some common sense:

blackie

There's an appalling lack of knowledge about what that hated pipeline system actually does (and has been doing now for about 50 years), and what would happen in the Lower Mainland if it were suddenly shut down (as so many of you seem to be arguing).

1. It transports crude oil to the one remaining refinery in the Lower Mainland (there used to be four). Shut down the line, and that refinery either closes and lays everyone off, or starts importing oil in tankers (which is how it happened before they built the pipeline.)

2. It transports in batches gasoline, diesel, jet fuel etc -- all refined products -- sold in the Lower Mainland. Shut the system down, and you can put all the cars and the buses up on blocks and get your bicycles out (don't forget the snow tires). The alternative is to ship much much more of that stuff in tankers on the highways -- all the way from Edmonton. Think that's safer?

3. Yes, it ships some crude offshore in tankers, and more of it every year. No tanker spills yet. If Dogwood and First Nations opposed to the Kitimat line succeed (I think they will) then you can expect even more crude (triple, in fact) to come down the line to Vancouver. Why? Hands up all those who think it's a good idea to sell oil only to the US.

I know, you don't want Canada to sell ANY oil to ANYONE. Well, good luck with all those great social programs you like.

Funny how the opposition are yapping about no oil tankers on the west coast when they have been there for years. They also don't want a pipeline to Kitimat because the pipeline might burst or something. It's a plain case of blackmail. The environmentalists and First Nations are blackmailing the oil companies and Canadians by their lawsuits and protests. If they persist, look at what Alberta can do:

We can send it right on down to Seattle or Portland or any other destination that already has existing pipelines. Oh, my goodness, we might even be able to send that tar sands oil to eastern Canada. LOOK, we already have pipelines going to Winnipeg and Ottawa. Yikes how did that happen? Real pipelines sending real oil all across Canada and the US with no big spills. You lefties better get those pipelines shut down tomorrow because it is obviously too dangerous in high density areas. Seriously, shut them down! Stop all oil tankers from docking at the Vancouver and Halifax harbours, NOW!

In Ottawa on Tuesday, a group of environmentalists, first nations and Opposition Members of Parliament called for a West Coast ban on oil tanker traffic. Such a ban would kill the Enbridge project.
Hey lefties don't forget the East Coast too, you don't want to appear to be hypocrites do you? Oh, I forgot the Irvings OWN the east coast and they love blood oil, not Alberta's ethical oil. Talk about a monopoly that should be investigated. Suck it up sweethearts, you are blackmailing Canadian taxpayers, and we will not stand for it anymore. Stop the pipeline if you want, we will send our oil to Seattle, and they can gain the employment benefits, or Billings Montana, then we won't have to deal with BC at all.

NO pipelines, NO tankers, NO social programs!

BAN All Tankers And Ships!

Seriously, let's not discriminate here, all ships are a danger to the environment, and planes and off shore oil wells, and Liberals.

Let me get this straight. Tankers from Saudi Arabia are allowed to deliver oil to Quebec and Ontario, and it's not a problem, but tankers taking Alberta/Sask oil to China and India is a big no no? Is Iggy serious? Send Canadian money for blood oil out of the country, and DO NOT allow Canadians to sell their oil? This might get them some green and separatist votes, but will kill western Canada, the only engine supporting Ontario and Quebec.

Maybe we should lobby for a law that restricts the east from importing oil from other countries? That would be fair. If the west can't export our own oil to anyone we want, kind of like our farmers can't sell their own wheat, why should the east be able to export their wheat to anyone they want AND import oil from any country they want? Kind of unbalanced there don't you think?

Why doesn't the east buy our oil? The only way we could get them to do that was when Trudeau imposed the National Energy Program on the west so that we HAD to sell our oil to the east at 85% of the world price. It still ticks westerners off.

Iggy, maybe you should check with Mo Strong on this policy, you see, China has invested heavily in the oil sands and I'm pretty sure they expect to get their oil delivered by tanker to them. It's called the free market.

Even lefty Martin of the NP thinks it's a bad policy.

Don Martin: Fear behind Ignatieff’s oil tanker policy

While oil tankers now prowl Canada’s east and west coasts and roll up the St. Lawrence River to Montreal without the public giving it a second thought, Ignatieff’s plan would banish tankers from a safer port in northern B.C. and kill much-needed jobs and investment in the region.

Ignatieff’s vow, should he ever become prime minister, singles out for a ban one vital link — between the oil sands and China’s voracious energy thirst — that would give the oil sands a competitive alternative to an America that views the resource as dirty energy to be priced at a discount.

Environmentalists will never be happy until we are all living in caves, and it appears that's where the Liberals want westerners. Talk about divisive politics, the Liberals have that down pat.

Stop Paul Martins coal ships too then Iggy. Coal is a bigger pollution problem then oil and gas, but the Liberals are quiet about that. Shut down those coal mines, shut down the oil sands (which Iggy says he supports, but not allowing tankers would shut development down), shut down forestry, shut down the asbestos industry, keep western farmers chained to the Canadian wheat board, stop exporting potash, stop diamond mining, the list is endless.

Funny how it's the oil sands that lefties are targeting again. If the US thinks the oil sands are "dirty" and stop importing, then China and India are our next best markets, but no tankers means no oil exports. It's ridiculous. It's ill thought out. It's typical lefty policy, support the special interest groups and give no thought to Canadians and the jobs this policy would kill. Most of all, it is divisive. Shame.

The 100 Mile Limit? Fess Up Whole Foods!

Whole Foods doesn't want to use Alberta oil. Well I have news for you, Ontario doesn't get their oil from Alberta, neither does Quebec, they get blood oil from the Mideast. The oil gets shipped over the ocean, in huge oil tankers that pollute the ocean and kill fish like seals and tuna and dolphins and whales. Nice.

Whole Foods is going to move into the GTA, because people living in condos want organic close by. Good for Whole Foods, only problem is that organic products are not within the 100 mile limit that eco-nuts have imposed on lefties.

Whole Foods to double its GTA footprint
“We looked at the longer traffic patterns of our customers, and that is when you start forming ideas of where to put a store,” she said.

“There is a growing awareness of where food comes from, and a growing need or desire for organic products. People know we are not an average grocery store.”
...
“There has been a migration to the 416,” said Ms. Evans. “With more people moving into condos and downtown living, these people want to have easy access to grocery stores and not have to schlep their groceries too far.”

But she says Whole Foods’ decision to turn to the suburbs is comparable to a more standard grocery chain’s decision to move downtown. In both cases, they are targeting areas underserved for their product.

“They had entered the urban market, that was their first store. They are looking at pastures that hopefully will be greener for them. The suburban customer really doesn’t have access to Whole Foods,” she said.

Growing awareness of where food comes from??? Are they kidding me? Hello urbanites, do you understand that food needs CO2, you know that POLLUTANT! Yikes, you better stop eating.

Here is a quick lesson. Our farmers plant seeds that sprout into plants that take in CO2 and give off oxygen. They grow better with more CO2, fertilizer and water. Then, to get rid of those yucky bugs, the farmers sometimes spray chemicals that kill the bugs but not the plants (or people), the plants can then continue to grow and end up on your plate. Now, for a veggie to be truly organic, no chemicals can be used, so watch out for the caterpillars in your cabbage and aphids on your herbs (they especially love dill, so watch out for those dill pickles you buy). Seeing as you are "growing aware of where your food comes from", don't be squeamish if your organic veggies contain the occasional slug, they really like lettuce.

Most concerning are the frozen dinners you buy because you have no time to actually cook anything from scratch. Read the labels. My rule is, if I can't pronounce it, it can't be good for you. Try it for one week, then you will see how stupid you are to pay extra for "organic" food, when you are stuffing your face with chemicals in all the frozen meals and canned goods you buy.

So, forget about the 100 mile limit. It's another scam just like global warming!

'Buy local' campaign is no help to environment

More heresy on the environmental correctness front.

The Montreal Economic Institute published a report today arguing that buying locally-produced food "is a poor indicator of a product’s impact on the environment and is thus not a valid way of reducing greenhouse gas emissions."

The authors, Pierre Desrochers and Hiroko Shimizu, write that there are "perfectly legitimate reasons" to buy products raised close to home, but, says Desrochers, “the supposed environmental benefits of buying locally just aren’t there.”

If you knew what a "free range" chicken ate, you wouldn't eat it. Better yet, really get with nature and go out to a farm and help kill a chicken for your meal, oh and you need to pluck it, and clean it too. Good luck with that! HA! While you are on the farm, why don't you muck out the barn (compost material), and feed the livestock.

Oh heck, that probably sounds like too much work, and it's disgusting too. But you idiots will pay twice as much for something that is labeled "organic" and Whole Foods knows that, they are playing you for suckers with their we won't use "dirty oilsands" but our food is organic so you can feel better by paying 2 times more for the same carrots. Try planting your own garden then you can observe the 100 foot rule and you can feel really really special because you grew it yourself.

Next time you go into Whole Foods ask them whether the strawberries you are buying are within the 100 mile limit, ask them that same question for every single item you buy there.

It's time for Whole Foods to fess up, I bet they do not observe the 100 mile rule.

Turn Off The Taps!

Dirty oil from the Canadian Sands are under attack by the Obama administration. This will backfire badly on the Americans, who get 20% of their oil from us. This is not an Alberta problem, Canadians have been living the high life because Alberta, now Saskatchewan and Newfoundland are doing so good. Quebec gets 8 billion from the have provinces and that is about to stop because the have provinces like Ontario are now have nots. Didn't Quebec post a surplus? Then they do not need any equalization payments.

U.S. carbon bill could put squeeze on oil sands

The U.S. climate change bill, which is currently being debated in the House energy and commerce committee, includes a measure modelled on low carbon fuel rules just approved in California. It would set a baseline standard for the amount of carbon produced during production of transportation fuel throughout its life cycle.

Under the draft bill, refineries would be required to reduce annual life cycle emissions from their fuel to 2005 levels between 2014 and 2022, and then cut them by at least another five per cent between 2023 and 2030.

In effect, the rules would force U.S. refiners to measure carbon intensity of a fuel from ‘wells to wheels.' Because the life cycle emissions from oil sands crude is up to 30% higher than in conventional oil, Canadian officials are worried the country's energy industry would be devastated by a national low carbon fuel standard in the U.S.

Canada's concerns about the U.S. climate bill follows "the same logic" as objections Ottawa raised last week in a failed bid to derail the California measures, Mr. Prentice said following two days of meetings in Washington.

This could be bad for Alberta and all of Canada. Funny how the environmentalists fail to mention "blood" oil from the Mideast, and given that Obama bowed to the Saudi King, we know how he feels. What can Alberta do? Glad you asked!

CN idea a winner for oil sands

The energy and geopolitical ramifications of Canadian National Railway's "Pipeline on Rails" initiative is a game-changer for Canada. As I revealed in Thursday's Financial Post, the railway has developed a transformative strategy to move oil sands production more quickly and cheaply to markets in North America or Asia.

This project, in its early stages, will eliminate three barriers to the development of Canada's vast oil sands: the cost, delays and financial risks involved in building multi-billion-dollar pipelines; the politics of obstruction south of the border from environmentalists and the danger of selling oil to monopoly buyers in the United States which has, in the past, resulted in contracts being ripped up when times were tough.

It also allows Canada to decouple from the American economy when it comes to its most important commodity, which is oil products. This is because all the oil sands production can be routed to the west coast for shipment to Asia or anywhere, thus avoiding monopoly pricing and bullying by the Americans.

Now that's what I call a great idea! If the Americans put up trade barriers, we can stop the flow using their own policies against them, and if Obama doesn't think losing 20% of their energy supplies isn't going to hurt, the guy is dreaming.

Notice how Minister Day was in China lately, could oil be something the Chinese need? How about India? Both countries would love a secure supply of "dirty" oil and if the US doesn't want it, so be it. Enjoy your $10 a gallon gas. If the US breaks the terms of NAFTA, it frees Canada from supplying oil to the US.

The Democrats are dumb enough to think they can slap a tariff/carbon tax on our oil like they did with softwood lumber, in the guise of a cap and trade tax. It's time to turn off the tap for a few days, and see what happens. It's also time for Quebec to be forced to buy Canadian oil, no more "blood" oil for Quebec, not when they get $8 billion from Alberta a year.

Turn off the taps, just for a few days, see what happens!

Dion Shouts Out The Truth!

Look at all the blue sky!!! Suncor oilsands project!

With Garth slamming Quebec and Alberta, we hear that Dion was at the Calgary Zoo, with 100's of supporters or is that 100 supporters counting the monkey's? I gather they can't afford to rent a hall. Or was Dion just killing two birds with one stone, talking to his 100 Calgary supporters, while talking to the zoo animals! Hope he didn't get too close to the monkeys, because we all know how naughty those monkeys can be throwing stuff! Or was he at the petting zoo? Watch out for those methane animal farts Dion. HA!

What truth did Dion shout? It's contained in the last paragraph of this article.

"Bring Canada in conformity with what the world expects from Canada -- to have carbon pricing in Canada," Mr. Dion said. "Then nobody anymore will pretend that the oil coming from Alberta should be boycotted."

Nobody anymore will PRETEND that the oil coming from Alberta should be boycotted??

So, Dion came right out and told the truth about the environmental movement. It's all fake, it's PRETEND outrage! Alberta, get with the program, PRETEND we are conforming, you know like the Liberals signed Kyoto then pretending to be doing something. Alberta should bow down to the eco-terrorists, and then everything will be hunky dory! Got that Alberta, lie your faces off to the eco-nuts, sign anything, and the global sun will shine on you! Well, kiss Alberta's butt Dion, and take your little eco-terrorists with you. The oil is Alberta's! You easterner's don't even buy our oil, you buy "blood" oil from the Arabs.

You know how the eco-nuts have changed the talk from "global warming" to "climate change"? Well, here's the new word, that applies only to Alberta oilsands: "dirty". Coal generating plants in Ontario are not "dirty", Saskatchewan oil is not "dirty", China coal plants are not "dirty", but Alberta oilsands oil is "dirty". It's a targeted campaign by the eco-terrorists to shut down the one province that is keeping this country moving forward.

Watch how the eco-nuts keep calling it the "tarsands". Why? Tar just sounds "dirty". Here's an upside, once we take all that "tar" out of the sand, we'll have a wonderful beach! Maybe we should call it beachingoil? Or beachoil...makes me think of a coconut smell drifting on a slight breeze.
