SOW's Strike Out Big Time, In The Toronto Star!!

Well, I couldn't believe my eyes when I read this article in the Toronto Star:

Women have every kind of liberty, intellectual, physical and reproductive freedom. Women have the same opportunities as men.

What the Tories have done is cut back funding to some women's groups, notably, Status of Women Canada, or Womenslibesaurus Regina, the great dinosaur of the Trudeau-ic Era.

Much fuss has been made about Status of Women removing the words "to advance equality" from their mandate, as though it were part of Harper's famed secret agenda. The words were replaced with "to facilitate women's participation in Canadian society."

But both options are patronizing, as though women need to be coddled along, like less clever creatures than men.

This attitude is as Jurassic as the feminism behind it.

If the Tories are doing anything to harm women, it is in continuing to fund anything this anachronistic.

WOW!!! I'm speachless!! Maybe the younger generation is finally waking up to the fact that feminism had it's day, like the hippies, but it is now time to move on.

More power for women is created by women who stand up for themselves, not by an organization that tells us, we are weak, and need help!

Excellent article Rondi Adamson, but I hope you are prepared for the firestorm of emails you will get!! You are going to find out pretty quick how nasty feminists really are, but keep in mind that there are lots of us females out there who are glad to hear some straight talk!

Rondi Adamson is the token shill conservative in the Toronto Star. That she would print such tripe is hardly surprising.

I was surprised to see it in the Star as well. Thank you for sharing this piece, Hunter.

I think what will be an even bigger surprise to women and men supportive of Status of Women is how much of a minority their view is. While I am not suggesting that the anti-Status of Women position represents the majority I am putting forward the position that the vast majority of Canadian women do not care if Status of Women exists and do not see it as a vital resource.

As Mr. Harper proceeds with these changes with minimal opposition from the Canadian public I believe that the pro-Status of Women people will be saddened and dismayed by the silence of Canadian women.

I am saddened and dismayed by the tripe I'm reading here. You have no clue, really, do you, of the important work that SWC does in Canada, the groups it funds to make women's lives liveable.

There is not equality of opportunity for single parent women, for their girl children, or for anyone in their family. Women over the age of 16 have a 1 in 2 chance of being assaulted in their lifetime. Girls have a 1 in 4 chance of being sexually assaulted before the age of 18. How can you say this is equality? How can you possibly condone this attack on women's rights? How can you live with yourself when your daughter or mine has that huge a chance of being abused in her lifetime? How can you sit there and go on living, knowing these facts?

Oh please berlynn, there is not equality of opportunity for all women because the SOW's don't help fund ALL women. They will not support REAL women, because REAL women don't believe in killing babies!

If your statistics are true, and let's assume they are, how are girls going to helped by the SOW's who heavily support EGALE?? They do not fund any women's shelter's, they fund ACTIVISTS who sit around and write papers about how hard done by they are because onone is listening to the lesbians. I do not sit, I volunteer to help the disabled, what do you do but spout gagbage?? Did you even read the article?? I think not, your ignorance is showing!!
