Be Proud Canada! We Believed!

What a joy it has been to watch our athletes! I have been on the edge of my seat many times cheering for our athletes. My favorites are Virtue and Moir, they are so young and full of life they are a joy to watch. Here is their gala performance, it's an updated version of the one I posted earlier.

Virtue and Moir Gala Performance

We have all noticed that PM Harper has been taking in a variety of sports at the games. Finally CTV actually interviewed him.

Excellent interview by CTV with PM Harper

PM Harper is so good at interviews, and this time CTV kept it non-partisan, and I appreciate that, the question about the pants was too funny. I suspect if the athletes don't get political about the funding, that they might get rewarded for all their hard work. Personally I am in favour of continuing to support the "Own the Podium" effort. At least my tax dollars are being put to better use than pandering to some socialist program that does not produce any results except more dependency on our government and ultimately us taxpayers.

These games have been a huge success. The patriotism Canadians have shown has brought our country closer together. A tie for most gold medals by any country in the winter Olympics is truly awesome, and we have one more chance to win gold!

Be proud Canada, we did it! We Believed!

Who could have wrote a better script for the final event.A gold medal game for either Canada or the USA.Just by getting to this stage is awesome .Like you i have been on the edge of my seat for many events and wavered a bit at the beginning when our athletes who were supposed to win were losing. But then Canada got behind them even more (except for the media) and believed in them and they could feel it and started to compete and win. This group of athletes have really made Canada proud and i am sure the rest of the world will forgive us, and give us our time in the Spotlight.GO CANADA GO,WE BELIEVE

Thanks Hunter for your gold medal coverage during the Games.

Canada has done very well in competing "with" the world's best. We have always been proud but the outpouring of excitement has been huge.

You win the Proud Bloggers GOLD!!

Our Prime Minister led us. He started at the legislature and continued into as many venues as he could. He made sure successful athletes were recognized and spoken to. I suspect he even had conversations with any athlete that came across his path. He looked like he was thoroughly into it all and I appreciate his interest and his leadership. He brought us out of ourselves and I guess we needed permission from a higher source to whoop it up and say nice things about us.

He led us to our pride.

There were many moments to remember. You have shown me one I did not get to see so thank you.

I, too, very much appreciated Brian Williams interview with the PM. Brian seemed so enthusiastic and handled it all very well. I have never seen the PM in such a relaxed mode and as casual as any Canadian could get. I still continue to support him. If I have a real bee in my bonnet I will keep it private and write emails and letters behind the scenes...nothing wrong with that ...like who wants to give any kind of ammunition to the enemy in any of them even thinking that because I have a disagreement on something I am off our pm...pffft...will never happen. I have seen nothing or anyone within all of the other oppositions to tempt me to even take a second look, let alone change my mind.
We have just been shown what a leader is. Next week we will be back to normal and see that government was not in "stall mode" but had been working all along with the business at hand. We have a Prime Minister that never 'rests' it seems...no big long holidays for him..he has a country to run.
Well done Vanoc and thank you.

For those of you who are believers, whether Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu or other faith - please take a moment and turn your thoughts to Chile and the devastation which has been wreaked on that country and its people. The tragedy, the lives ruined or ended, the absolute devastation wrought by one of the more powerful earthquakes on record is beyond belief. But, given the resilience of the human spirit and with God guiding the Chilean people, I know that the country and its people will rebuild and restore. May God be with them every step of the way.

The athletes, volunteers did an excellent job. Our media was able to keep it focus on what matters.

Our closing was funny, still to long.

17 days without the mugs of the naysayers talking down our country, our government was a nice break!

Now let's keep our media honest and kick some socialist butt!
