Edmonton, Not Only The Murder Capital In Canada...

Also the mosquito capital of Canada. Now that's going bring in the tourists! What an embarrassing and totally incompetent council we have, from a mayor who spends MILLIONS on an art gallery no-one goes to, to my lefty councilor who rides the LRT to work (he's a green freak) but is never actually seen in his riding doing anything positive for us. Last election he promised us that we would get a LRT stop at 40th Ave, he hasn't mentioned it since, typical lefty, promise the world, then ignore the voters.

I know I am harping about the mosquitoes, but they are emptying our wonderful parks because you don't dare walk anywhere in Edmonton anymore, if not in fear of your personal safely, it's because the mosquitoes will eat you alive. All we hear is that they are monitoring the traps to see if we have a problem. I say step outside for a minute and you will have the answer. How bad is it?

According to City of Edmonton data, the total mosquito trap count took a giant leap from 492 mosquitoes caught on July 5 to 7,927 on July 12.

Houston, we have a problem! No kidding mayor. They cut the budget by $200,000, but found millions to build an arts gallery. I have lived in Edmonton for over 30 years and have never visited the arts gallery. I have visited the museum, the zoo, Fort Edmonton park and frequently flew out of the now defunct municipal airport, but never wanted or desired to visit the arts gallery, but my taxes have now paid for that waste of space.

Mayor Mandel and his merry band of lefties had better get their heads out of our butts and start actually serving the taxpayers of this city instead of building condos for artists. Get your priorities straight mayor. Oh, and could we please get the "Klondike Days" back, because Capital Ex is just stupid and meaningless.

Layton Refuses To Answer Questions On Cap And Trade

Not quite, he just refuses to answer ANY questions when he is in Edmonton, but the effect is the same. PM Harper gets slammed by the media constantly because he only allows 5 questions from the media, now we find out Layton refuses to even TAKE any questions while he is in Edmonton. What you hiding Layton? Fess up buddy, or do you think us rednecked hillbillies don't understand the impact cap and trade would have on our economy in Alberta and in Canada?

"People are going to look at Jack Layton not only as a guy who is inexperienced, everyone starts off with no experience that is a given, but a guy who comes from a party who has financial economic policies who are not in the interest, certainly of Alberta as the very least, and very questionable," said Conservative candidate Laurie Hawn.

The Conservatives have pointed out when Jack Layton is in Alberta he says, ‘oil sands', but when he is in the east, he uses the activists term, ‘tar sands.'

Layton, lying out of both sides of his mouth. His rise in the polls is because of the Liberals tanking, but no media is mentioning that little gem. Funny how the Liberals have always said that people needed to vote for them to stop Harper, now the NDP are singing the same song.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, PM Harper, is steadily steering the Conservative ship towards a majority. I know it's kind of unexciting, but it's better than a Layton coalition government.

The polls are all over the place, I wonder if Avaaz is paying the pollsters? Who is getting money? University kids to post on media sites? Maybe SUN News can find out.

Ignore the white noise that is our media. PM Harper is going to PEI again, and from the comments it sounds like they are enjoying the attention. If only the people of PEI could understand that we dislike Wayne Easter because he supports the Canadian Wheat Board that suppresses the ability of our western farmers to compete. The Liberals threw our farmers into jail, some for over 6 months because they wanted to sell their wheat in Montana. How would PEI potato farmers like to be told that they can only sell their potatoes to Alberta and they couldn't sell them to McCains unless they sold them to Alberta first, then they could buy them back from Alberta at the higher market price?

PEI can deliver some Conservative seats, please help your western buddies! (I thank you for sending me my wonderful husband who left PEI in search of a better life, and has found it here in Alberta! He still needs yearly trips back to the Island, I suspect if we retire there it will solve his homesickness and satisfy my love of lobster.)

Newfoundland needs to be scared of the Layton surge, they will pander to Quebec and you can say goodbye to any hopes of your plans for power independence. The only party that will actually support you is the Conservatives. Think hard about your choices and your future.

I expect the media to be shouting about Layton not answering questions about cap and trade in Edmonton. Who is the dictator now? How will cap and trade, that ALL opposition parties support, impact us? I leave you will this video that answers that question H/T to Jan Webb over at BLY:

UPDATE: Linda Duncan doesn't care about the people in her riding:

Are there not oil-reliant jobs in her riding? “So what?” she says. “Does that mean the oilsands should develop unmitigated?”

"White" Privilege Wins Or Not...

So they have taken the offensive page down and apologized....or not!

Following a maelstrom of complaints, the contentious material contained in a city-sponsored anti-racism campaign has been pulled. "It just sent the wrong message," said John Reilly, a diversity and inclusion consultant with the city.
Wow, sounds good, we complained, and we won! Or did we?

"We certainly did not mean to offend people with this. We would apologize to anybody who felt offended by that."
They WOULD apologize, not "we apologize". They are going to reword it, but they don't think they were wrong.

That material has been removed and the 13 organizations behind the campaign are now working to rephrase it.
Charlene Hay, executive director of the Centre for Race and Culture, said there was some truth behind the controversial content.
"I think we do need to acknowledge it," said Hay, who is white.
"It's important. It's the kind of issue that is complex and requires dialogue."
She added the site's comments should have been phrased more effectively.
"It needed some pre-explanation," she said, adding now is the time to address the issue.
"We can have a rational dialogue."
So, they aren't apologizing, and they still think that they are right, they just worded it wrong! You know us "white" privileged peoples don't understand so good. Pre-explanation this: We understood you the first time, the damage is done, stop calling "whites" racist. No amount of re-wording is going to work now. This reminds me of those environmental idiots who released the 1010 video of kids blowing up. When lefties only listen to lefties they have no clue how people will actually react to their ideas. Common sense is not something you can accuse lefties of having or using.

I want to thank all those people who emailed "racism free Edmonton" to tell them how racist they were actually being. Conservatives are starting to get the hang of this protesting stuff! You stand up to a lefty, and they have to back down because they are wrong. Maybe the Tea Party in the States has started something worldwide. People taking back the power from governments and bureaucrats. People shining the light on the elitists who think they are always right and we are wrong. People standing up proudly and supporting our country, our troops and our Prime Minister, are making inroads into the Liberal mess that we have to deal with and fix.

Good job everyone! Let's continue to win the small battles, because they add up and become big wins for our side. Next, the AHRC!!! My vote counts on them being dismantled. Can I take a complaint about the Alberta Human Rights Commission support of the "racism free Edmonton" campaign to the commission? What if we all emailed them about being offended, would they investigate themselves? It wouldn't cost us anything and it would twist them into pretzels trying to explain why they gave taxpayer money to that group. Could be fun!

The Glow Is Off The Halo!

I watched the State of the Union address. My take, the glow is off the halo! He said "I" over 90 times, and "me" countless more times. He talks big, but his actions refute what he says. Of course the Democrats thought he hit it out of the ball park, whatever "it" was, and Republicans thought he did a bad job.

The best take I have seen on the speech is by Syncrodox Sez I hope he doesn't have a hangover tomorrow. Read the comments, they are too funny!

Now that I have covered the all important State of the Union address, I have something really serious for my Edmonton readers. We have a challenge in front of us that is greater than the Oilers/Flames rivalry. Right now at this very minute, Calgary is ahead of Edmonton in the all important Monopoly Challenge, and this can not be allowed to continue.

When I found out about this yesterday, Edmonton was at 10th spot and Calgary was at 3rd. Edmonton has now moved up to 6th and Calgary is still growing roots in 3rd, you need to vote to get Edmonton into first place. The first place finisher gets the prime property place on the Canadian Monopoly board game, so let's get voting! If you are not going to vote for Edmonton, please forget you even heard about this Monopoly thingy!

What A Light Show We Had!

I didn't post last night because I was too busy watching the light show that was going on outside. I love summer storms, but I didn't want the hail. My youngest captured it on my camera.

Near the end you will see the hail. Luckily this morning, other than some bruised flowers, everything seems fine.

30 Second Idling Coming Soon....

To Edmonton? You heard that right, to Edmonton, thanks to our totally lefty city council.
Having said that, the current social trend of environmental bandwagon jumping approaches the nauseating and ridiculous when public officials begin to suggest that, at minus-15, you should only idle your car for 10 seconds, and that above that, 30 seconds should suffice.

This is, of course, rankly stupid to anyone who doesn't own a garage; that includes a lot of Edmontonians and disproportionately targets people by income. It's the kind of dumb idea that comes from listening to environmental zealots -- the far-extreme of the green movement, not the average person who has some concern.

In fact, the average car heater isn't going to need less than about three minutes -- and in some cases five or six minutes-- to get to a temperature that will keep windows free of frost at -20 C. And if you can't see, you can't drive.

The only conservative, Mike Nicols was dumped by the university elites in Ward 5 for ultra lefty Iveson.

I met this guy during the campaign, the only thing he had done was force ALL university students to pay for transit passes, whether they used it or not. A truly lefty dream, make everyone pay for the few. He was actually proud of making all students pay the way for only those students who use the transit. This was his crowning glory! Oh, and his wife told me that all post secondary education should be free!

Now, he's out to make a name for himself, by imposing a 30 second idle rule in Edmonton. Today, it is -25 in Edmonton, try warming up your car for just 30 seconds. Iveson appears to think that driving with only a tiny peep hole defrosted is a good thing, and let's just bundle those kids up better, who care if their little noses get frost bite, IN THE CAR!

Now the left-wing zealots at city hall -- the same happy gang that brought Edmontonians a 7% tax hike and jacked up user fees -- seem determined to bring the state into the driveways and carports of the city.

Word leaked out of silly hall that a "tough" idling bylaw is being readied by the bureaucrats. It's being urged along by rookie Coun. Don Iveson, determined to set himself up as council's Kyoto Kult high priest.

Iveson, a former student radical who appears never to have had a real job, now thinks he has the left stuff to run a billion-buck city, and impose his wonky idea of how the world works by having bylaw enforcement officers hand out fines to taxpayers who get caught warming up their vehicles.

Here is my solution.

1. All Edmonton city councilors must park their cars on the street.
2. They may NOT use extension cords to keep their blockheater's warm, this is against a city bylaw that prevents cords across sidewalks.
3. They can only warm up (idle) their cars for 30 seconds.
4. They can not drive their cars unless all windows are frost free and their license plates are clearly visible. (another city bylaw)
5. Because after 30 seconds idling, their cars will not be frost free, they must proceed to the nearest bus stop. Iveson should be in full support of this step, after all he loves the transit system.
6. If the bus does not come in 30 seconds, they must proceed to the next bus stop, and wait 30 seconds for that bus, if it does not arrive in 30 seconds, off they go to the next bus stop.
7. Once they have walked to work in -25 weather, because we all know, that no bus is ever going to arrive in 30 seconds, maybe their heads will thaw out enough to start thinking about real issues.

I suggest Edmontonian's enforce these 7 rules on all our city councilor's and let's throw some of the bureaucrat's on the list as well.

It will not take me 30 seconds idling to vote NO to Iveson next election, heck, if Mike Nicol's runs for Mayor, I would run in Ward 5 to beat these lefties. Here is a comment from way back during the election:

I agree -- Mike Nickel needs to be ineffective and negative somewhere else. Any councillor that can vote down a nine- year old's proposal for anit-idling in front of her school, and even an anti-idling educational campaign, needs to go. As well, I was amused to hear that Mr. Nickel wanted transit prices in edmonton to be on par with other larger canadian cities. Too bad Edmonton transit does not offer the same accessability that Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto do. So, we should not be paying the same prices unless we are receiving the same service.

The fix was in, and it was mainly university lefties that voted for Iveson, the same lefties who got another greenie, the NDP MP here in Edmonton elected, Duncan. Where is she lately, in hiding after wholeheartedly supporting the coalition?

Time to take back South Edmonton from the university weenies, who are only in this area for 4 years, then leave to do their damage elsewhere, while we are stuck with the likes of Duncan and Iveson.

30 second idling, an econuts dream. Let them protest today, in -25 weather, then I might start listening, but they must go first and lead the way!

Stupidity, This Is Stupidity!

Edmonton city council goes after the victims, not the criminals. No really, I'm not lying. I thought Toronto was bad with the new "shade" laws, but get a load of this piece of shi%t law.

Painted into a corner

Phyllis Bjornson, a 77-year-old Edmonton grandmother, has attempted to scrub the graffiti off of her garage over a dozen times, even taking a toothbrush to the stucco wall.

On July 10 she received a letter from the city stating she would have to get rid of the spray paint or face a $250 fine.

"I've been sick to my stomach I've been so riled up about this," she said. "I'm the victim and I pay the price. That doesn't make sense."

When Bjornson contacted the city about her predicament, she was told she would have to pay to have the building professionally repainted.

That's right, the victim has to pay for what some young thug did to her private property.

Coun. Tony Caterina said Bjornson's case exemplifies why he's against the ticketing.

"This was my biggest concern, that we were going to go out and ticket property owners," he said.

"Now not only do they have to pay for the damage, they have to pay to have it (cleaned). I hope at this point now we can do something for this senior."

The city is approaching the graffiti problem in a backwards manner, Bjornson adds. Instead of targeting the victims, they should be looking for the suspects.

"I'm upset more with the city (than the vandals) because that bylaw doesn't even look for the vandals," she said.

This is the city of Edmonton at it's finest! Why do only lefty idiots run for city council?

Soldiers In My City...Something Is Happening!

Yesterday, I saw military equipment suddenly appear in Edmonton, right next to the city airport. They looked like military jeeps, and had Canada license plates. They were similar to these:

But not as fancy. I took pictures today, but I had a major computer melt down and the pictures are on that computer. (If you are wondering, this house has more computers than we can count, so I'm on a back-up computer.)

With this build up of equipment (6 jeeps, and one ambulance, no soldiers that I could see) only minutes from downtown, near an airport, I fear Edmonton is at risk of some kind of action. Something is happening, right here, in Edmonton, with soldiers and equipment.

And then, when I read about the "classified" blueprints found in the garbage in Ottawa, well I knew we were doomed. Obviously the blueprints pointed to our city, and now the military is moving in to control the situation. I suspect that city hall will be the first target, as that is where you find most of the lefties in Edmonton. After that West Edmonton Mall, with it's submarines, trained dolphins, and pirate ships, third targets, likely all Walmarts, and Timmies.

I'm sure it's all in the blueprints that the DND threw out. Looking out the window, I see the moon is full, and the army will be able to carry out their mission with the help of moonlight.

If you don't hear from me by tomorrow, either the blueprint targeted my house, or my backup computer crapped out too! My husband says that he hears helicopters........
