The Power Of The Boycott!

Conservatives don't like to tell other people how to live their lives. So the idea of going out and protesting is foreign to us. Same goes for boycotting something. Lefties on the other hand use both protesting and boycotting as a powerful tool to get what they want.

It can be effective (short term) like the prorogue scheme that was led by the opposition parties. It can also go seriously wrong like during the Olympics when the protesters themselves were hijacked by even more extreme protesters. Luckily the protesters at the Olympics have cooled off and protests are now close to none existent. Funny how moderate (is there such a thing?)protesters are now scared to protest because the hard line lefties might show up and break more windows and attack more police officers. Violence is not the Canadian way. Peaceful protests are democratic, hooligans breaking windows is not. It's good that Olympic protesters realize that the hooligans do more damage to their causes then help.

Why should a small proportion of people be able to dictate to the majority? Special interest groups use their voices by protesting and gaining the media attention. Protesting is changing as the facebook group on proroguing indicates, and Conservatives are catching on. Case in point, Bed, Bath and Beyond. They backed off within a day of coming out and stating their were boycotting Alberta's "dirty" oil. Why?

Rex Murphy: Bed, Bath & Beyond good sense

You know, some of their towels are not as woolly as this train of mush. “Our third-party transportation providers” — what would those be … truckers? And what does it possibly mean “to be aware of the issues associated with fuels generally”? That they are flammable? How much they cost? That they help things to run? And for sheer doughy padding, consider, “we have asked them to lessen their use of fuels which they know would be counter to this goal, where feasible.” It has all the clarity and solidity of a spring swamp wrapped in a blanket of fog.

My guess is the wavelet of backlash from Alberta at the ForestEthics press release was sufficient to haul the monks of BBB BBB BBB out of the eco-choir. BBB BBB BBB may have thought that sending a little incense to the Al Gore contingent of The Science is Settled and The Himalayan Glaciers are Toast Church of Global Warming (pre-Climategate Division) would titillate the balance sheet among the eco-fervent. But they quickly thought better of it. Oh that old Gloria Mundi. How Sic it Transits.

So, Alberta citizens got on their computers and emailed Bedbugs and gave them an earful. Good for them. It shows that we can have an impact without having to get out in the streets and protest.

Look at the board of directors for Forest Ethics. They are all lefty do gooders with an agenda. Notice how they own "eco-friendly" companies? So, what's in it for them? Profits. That "dirty" word, that allows them to live high on the hog by pressuring companies into submission, while they rake in the profits from their own capitalist businesses. Hypocritical much?

Interesting that Forest Ethics gets 77% of their money from grants which they fail to detail in their financial report. This organization clearly has no clue what ethics are all about. Let's find out who they get their money from, and start protesting them. We are now clearly seeing how these organizations survive, not by the average citizens support, but by sucking on the government teat.

It's time for us to play their game. It's time for us to start boycotting their businesses, and it's time for us to start supporting those businesses that are driving our economic engine.

My boycott list so far:

Bed, Bath and Beyond
Whole Foods
TD Canada Trust
Google
HP

I am sure you can help me add to the list. I would also like a list of companies that are buy worthy, those that are not buying into the global warming garbage. Let's show them the power of the boycott, not by protesting in the streets, but by protesting with our money.

You betcha! These groups support global warming! Down with them! Stop donating and encouraging them!

Catholic Church
United Church
Anglican Church
Presbyterian Church

Instead lets all join the nice folks at the Westboro Baptist Church. (They are deniers.)
Fill up with ExxonMobile. (They fund the deniers.)
And why not buy some blood diamonds at the same time!

It seems that the Evangelicals can go either way -- I guess it depends on the size of the donation.

So Hunter, will you stop funding the Catholic Church? Will you stand by your convictions? What say you?

I have boycotted Superstore because of their endorsement of WWF who are also a lobby group that is full of s..t, imo.
A few HIGH PROFILE politicians, specifically from Ont. are pretty buddy-buddy with the prez too. That could help explain the money grabbing, dumb eco decisions being made in struggling Ontario.

As they all barely survive in their kazillion dollar mansions hey? (sarc)

Well, in SOME things at least; the only real difference between the right and the left is which specific things they would have the government ban in order to "save you from yourself", or to shove their idea of morality down our throats. Both extremes have the idea that they're the only ones smart enough to tell us how to run our lives, but at the current time, I'm willing to give the conservatives a chance because they at least TALK as if they're more libertarian than authoritarian.

CanadianSense said...

Great idea, I would include sponsors of media programs that are biased to one political party.

But Hunter, why would you boycott Whole Foods; their CEO, John Mackey is against Universal Health care; a hero after your own heart!

He even wrote an article about it last summer.

Also, Whole Foods came out and said they're still going to use your precious oil as they claim they cannot find a supplier who doesn't use it.

What are you worried about anyhow? Don't you conservatives hate health food and will defend your red meat? Yeesh!

I understand why the boycott of the first three on your list, but why Google and HP? I'm not arguing, I'm just curious

I have enjoyed hearing the pro-abortion liberals pretend to defend mainstream religion while attacking "evangelical" as less worthy. Too funny.

After all for a Liberal maternal health means birth control pills and abortion are more important than clean safe drinking water. Makes perfect sense.

So...will you folks stop donating to the Catholic church? You only encourage them you know!

I bet TD is simply shaking in their boots. Hunter and her massive fortune are going elsewhere. Funniest thing I've read all day.Thanks.

Southern Quebec said...

Why are you boycotting Google?

A Few Figs said...

Since small businesses are currently the driving force in the economy, I think a boycott of TD could have some real impact if it catches on. The closing of personal accounts might not affect them much but if business accounts started to fall off, that would definitely be cause for concern.

Shrug, a small business owner. :)

SQ, you can boycott whoever you want. Here's an idea, you could boycott MY blog!!! Go for it, and take your far left friends with you!

I love the Catholic faith, they do not support baby killing so that more than cancels out their support of global warming.

hunter said...

Gabby, both Google and HP support cap and trade in a big way. I probably should have included GE on my list as well.

hunter said...

CK, we especially love killing the red meat with our GUNS! Maybe you should check and see where your food comes from....ever heard of the prairies? Or do you import your food from the mid-east like you do your "blood" oil?

Haven't seen any companies we should support, that would be a better approach. Anyone know of a company that hasn't bought into the dirty oil/cap and trade junk science?

Hi Hunter

A Blogspot blog might not be the best place to announce a boycott of Google, given that Google owns Blogspot.

If you need help with the transition to Wordpress, give me a shout, eh? ;)

Nullig said...

So, are you gonna take your google hosted blog down?

"I love the Catholic faith, they do not support baby killing so that more than cancels out their support of global warming."

I thought the pedophile priests canceled out the baby killing.

MariaS said...

Hunter - I can support you in all listed with the exception of Google. I can add Superstore if they are buddies with WWF like Bec says ... hey, I can even extend that to Loblaws as Superstore belongs to them.
As for TD, they have lost a bit of business from me already. I had planned on getting out of one of my RRSPs and putting the proceeds in a Fixed Income security at TD. Not happening after what their guy said.

Hunter,
I'm a vegetarian. Have been for 15 years.

ever heard of the prairies?

No,actually, I've never heard of the prairies. What is that? Home for prairie dogs?

Or do you import your food from the mid-east like you do your "blood" oil?

Why yes, Hunter, nothing gets past you, does it? ya found me out. I do indeed import my food from the middle-east.

I love the level of discussion on this post, keep it up lefties, are you all coming over from rabble?

Yikes a vegan, how's that pasty unhealthy look working for you? I love vegans dipped in beer batter and fried in corn oil. Oops I mean veggies.

Hey, do you wear boots made of animal hides, or do you just walk around in plastic (oil sands made) flip flops? Isn't that piano made of wood? Shame on you for killing trees, can't you hear them screaming?

CanadianSense said...

Just curious has anyone tested her for a strictly vegan diet? Time for Dick Pound crack team and look for those BLT's.

Hunter great job in flushing out the leftists today. Hugo Chavez must be proud of his little brown shirts.

It must be painful losing watching their parties keep voting for the CPC agenda for four years.

Gee, stop giving away all my secrets now, Hunter! Sheesh!

Isn't that piano made of wood? Shame on you for killing trees, can't you hear them screaming?

That is not my piano, it was actually John Lennon's piano. It was at a Yoko Ono and John Lennon exhibit here in Montreal.

I love vegans dipped in beer batter and fried in corn oil. Oops I mean veggies.

Ok, now that's just sick. Get help and for the love of Gawd, change those meds, will ya?

Glad to see you are against Google. After all, how can you support a company that refuses to give the government identifying information about those who disagree with it? That would never do!

Well, that at least might explain your apparent cognitive impairment. Your brain needs nutrients that you just aren't providing it (and no, those supplements you are forced to take don't quite cut it, sorry...)

What 'global warming' would that be? Have you been living under a rock for the last couple of years? The alarmists are on the run (been caught lying too many times now) and the people you so smugly refer to as 'deniers' are now the people with the credibility...

hunter said...

Oh my goodness, I've got the lefties in quite a snit today! HA!

Hey lefties, you are too funny! Pretty bad that the lefties have to troll the conservative sites to get their material.

If lefties ever got an idea, they wouldn't know what to do with it. Probably form a committee to discuss what to do with it, and then deadlock on whether to act on it or discuss it some more.

Getting under your skin lefties? Too funny! You would be pathetic, if you really mattered.

Balbulican said...

You sorta missed the point, Hunter.

a) You claim to boycotting google.

b) You blog is hosted by google.

Now, think REAL HARD. Furrow those brows.Do you see any contradiction there? Do you need help?

CK said...

I see that Canadian Sense, as usual is on the wrong cocktail of meds, just like ol' Hunter here.

Denying global warming is priceless! That's just the cons way of justifying their lives of waste, excess and greed without having to admit that sad truth about themselves.

One thing, if greedy, excess and waste are perfectly ok, why don't you stop going out of your way to preach the so-called falsehoods of global warming and just admit the truth about yourselves?

Remember, the truth shall set you free.

CK said...

I love the Catholic faith, they do not support baby killing so that more than cancels out their support of global warming.

Does their pro-life stance also cancel out the fact they have covered for pedophile priests, thus shielding them from criminal prosecution?

You know, Hunter, I don't think your trolls are lefties at all. I think they're just trolls. S (trou de) Q is and always has been a troll who has no other raison d'ĂȘtre than to come on your blog and be an idiot. Carolyn is an SQ wannabe but is nowhere near his level of idiocy. The other trolls - they aren't lefties at all. Sometimes a troll is just a troll.

In all the time I've wandered this earth I have always noticed that the Liberals are the biggest wasters of precious resources. Don't know why but Conservatives tend to Conserve.

As a consumer I don't shop at places like BBB or the organic food place. Something about being so self absorbed that I have to try to feed myself special foods or special bath products just goes against my Conservative Christian bent.

Yes I am a Christian and it always bothers me when Christian Churches get involved in politics especially trendy causes like AGW. If my board insisted that I preach a word on AGW I would walk out of the Church. Yes I mean walk not drive away in a gas guzzler.

I don't participate in boycotts other than to avoid a company or service that I disagree with. I don't do business with known criminal activity and in a few years the AGW scam will, indeed be, revealed as a criminal enterprise.

"Conservatives don't like to tell other people how to live their lives."

When you start your post with a bold faced lie, the rest of it can't be going very far. Conservatives don't want to run your life unless your liberal, female, gay, elderly, a veteran, a public employee, a union member, atheist, middle class, American... and the list goes on. As long as you're ready to march in lock step with the group think of the Right Wing authoritarians, Conservatives don't want to run your life. They already do.
