We Owe Them Our Respect.

Those brave men and women who protect our country deserve our praise and gratitude. In this new year, let us make sure they know how much we appreciate their sacrifice for our country. That is my new years resolution.

Every time I hear about another soldier who has been killed, my heart breaks for the family. Their child is gone, he/she feels no more pain, but the family must endure the loss of one too young to be gone.

The slimy disgusting terrorists know that Christmas is a prime time to kill our young ones, they gloat about it, and the journalists report it, without turning them in. I guess a "scoop" is more important than integrity.

The lame stream media deserves to die. I was flabbergasted this Christmas when both my Liberal parents said the CBC should be gone. I never thought I would hear them talk about how bad the CBC was, and they are in their eighties. The LSM are killing themselves with their obvious Liberal bias, do they not understand that Liberals are all talk, no buy papers type of people. Looking at the donations to the Liberal party, they are also all talk, no support with money kinds of people.

It saddens me that the media is more interested in "got-you" moments than actual reporting of facts. I hate to say it, but now that one of their own has died, maybe they will start reporting the truth of what is happening over in Afghanistan.

If the terrorist who laid the bomb that killed 4 soldiers and one journalist was caught, would journalists be crying for his rights? Will journalists get their heads out of the Liberals butts long enough to actually report real news? It appears that they are so dumb that they can't understand why no one is watching them anymore.

Every hour of every day, our troops risk their lives for Canadians.

Gov. Gen. Michaelle Jean, too, reacted with sadness to the deaths and injuries.

"This new tragedy, like all those before it, is shocking," she said in a statement early Thursday.

"It reminds us of the underhanded, blind, daily violence facing our Canadian soldiers, journalists and humanitarian workers in Afghanistan, who are working alongside the local population already hard hit by decades of terror.

"Our thoughts are with the families, the loved ones and the colleagues of the deceased. We also wish the injured a prompt recovery."

Funny....underhanded, blind, daily violence....yet the Liberals keep on bleating about one supposed terrorist being hit with a shoe. Keep it up Liberals and your lame media, it is only pushing independents into the Conservative column.

To make the lives of our military a political issue is disgusting. Liberals are so out of touch with Canadians that they think we care about a terrorist being tortured. I wonder if the person who planted the IED that killed 4 of our soldiers and a journalist has been in an Afghan jail and been released. Maybe the opposition can look into that while they are on holidays. Or are they all too busy getting tans in Arizona to really care about Afghanistan?

They have cried wolf so often, that even the wolf won't come when called anymore. The LSM is looking like fools to everyone except die hard lefties. I will not buy any paper that hangs onto the detainee issue. We don't care. The Taliban behead people, they rape young girls before they stone them to death, they are subhuman creatures that deserve to be hit on the head with a shoe. I do not watch CBC or CTV anymore. If companies want their ads to be watched, they better start switching to blogs.

In this new year of 2010, let's make sure that our voices are heard. We can effect change by speaking out. The silent majority needs to get vocal.

We need to hear about real heroes:

"I BET YOU DIDN'T SEE THIS IN THE NEWSPAPER OR ON THE 6 O'CLOCK NEWS"

The Six Pallbearers Removed The Rosewood Casket From The Hearse,
And Lined Up On Each Side Of Mike Monsoor's Casket, Were

The Column Of People Continued From The Hearse, All The Way To The Grave Site.

What The Group Didn't Know At The Time Was, Every Navy Seal(45 To Be Exact)

That Mike Monsoor Saved That Day Was Scattered Throughout The Column!
As The Pallbearers Carried The Rosewood Casket Down The Column Of People To The Grave Side.

The Column Would Collapse.

Which Formed A Group Of People That Followed Behind.

Every Time The Rosewood Casket Passed A Navy Seal,

He Would Remove His Gold Trident Pin >From His Uniform,
And Slap It Down Hard,Causing The Gold Trident Pin To Embed Itself
Into The Top Of The Wooden Casket!

Then The Navy Seal Would Step Back From The Column, And Salute!

Now For Those,(And Me)Who Doesn't Know What A Trident Pin Is or What It Looks Like?

Here Is The Definition And Photo!

For Three Weeks, And Is Followed By Seal Qualification Training,
Which Is 15 More Weeks Of Training,

After successful completion,Trainees Are Given Their Naval Enlisted Code,
And Are Awarded The Navy Seal Trident Pin.
With This Gold Pin They Are Now Officially Navy Seals!

It Was Said,

That You Could Hear Each Of The 45 Slaps From Across The Cemetery!

By The Time The Rosewood Casket Reached The Grave Site,

It Looked As Though It Had A Gold Inlay From The 45
Trident Pins That Lined The Top!

This Was A Fitting End To An Eternal Send-Off For A Warrior
Hero! This Should Be Front-Page News!

Happy new year, folks. It is challenging to realize that it was not yesterday, although it feels like it, that I was feverishly working on Y2K projects. Can 10 years have flown by so quickly? Well, the answer is a resounding YES. Let's hope that this decade brings us stability and peace.

You are so right - we do owe our soldiers our respect! However we also owe them our thanks. In fact if you go to the following link:

http://rightchik.blogspot.com/2009/12/write-soldier.html

it will go to my blog with all addresses for all operational missions!

Our soldiers are serving all over the world and they all deserve attention.

I encourage everyone to take the time to write a soldier! Trust me, you will make their day. I know, I am a soldier's wife (my husband is deployed on a mission that is just over a year long) and when he gets these letters, it means the world to him.

Why do you insist on showing the American Military in your little tributes?

A great and sobering analysis of this wayward conflict, media biases, and effects on public perceptions. I totally agree with your take and I have previously forwarded that sailor / hero story, as it's true these are the accounts people never hear about. This guerilla war is totally out-of-hand. In this day and age, we should have better methods of detecting IED's and at least diminish their abhorrent impact literally upon our lives' values as well as Canadian attitudes. These Afghan daytime farmers are nightime professional saboteurs. The sacrifice in casualties is ridiculous, and even I am now questioning the worth of such cost. We want to preserve and promote freedom, but we seldom hear from anyone who wants it or would appreciate it over there. Our service people are targets, totally vulverable to the wiles and strategies of terrorism. Maybe it's time to enforce the perimeter concept and protect our homelands first and foremost. We don't need to be looking for fights in the wild.

Bizarre? Not to those of us who are capable of comprehending a higher level of intellect.

Rightchik: love your blog. I don't get how anybody could love sky-high heels but, what the heck, if you can actually walk in them, more power to you.

I actually like to cook - good food but not complex gourmet crapola. Simple, hearty, great-tasting, not necessarily heart-smart food. I should add, however, the most of my cooking is heart-smart but every now and then, the butter comes out...

Great piece, Hunter. Absolutely great. The part where the navy seals slap the pins on the casket, is so overpowering.

Our MSM is gone to the dogs. You hear only gossip about movie stars and more gossip and nothing but hero worship of people whose values are less than dirt.

In Toronto we have a highway which is now known as the Highway of Heroes. When our brave soldiers come back in coffins this is the the highway they are transported on, on their way to their final destination and their home towns. Many people if they know the time the caskets will be passing by, stand on the bridge above and it is difficult to see a dry eye at those times.

We are at war and our young are dying at the hands of the most brutal enemy known since time memorial, and only a few of us care and think about it.

Rightchik, may your husband keep safe! My 16 year old is waiting to join the reserves, it scares me but I am proud that he wants to contribute to helping our country and others in countries that need the help.

Happy New Year East of Eden! Peace and stability would be welcomed by all!

Tripper, we hear too little about the true heroes, the media doesn't seem to like showing the human side of war.

MariaS, people in Ontario should be so proud of the Highway of Heroes, even other countries know about it. I wish I was close enough to stand on one of those bridges.

We need to get the message out. We are sick and tired of lefties trying to make our soldiers look like criminals. It is disgusting.

This blog-post drains from me my ability to remain un-moved. It destroys my indifference. It strips away my ability to ignore. It zeroes in and targets my patriotism. It seeks to challenge my resolve against a sinister and evil enemy willing to rape, murder and disfigure the innocent. It forces me to SEE the difference between the people willing to go into harm's way to make things better for the people, and those that like to 'embed' themselves in a news-room and point fingers.

The journalist who died in the latest IED is only ONE dead journalist compared to 138 soldiers we cannot spare to fight evil. Yet the nightly news spends more time to mourn a single journalist.

Why is the life of a journalist more newsworthy?

The death of all is tragedy. There are 4 families living a horrible reality right this minute that is as equal if not more-so, than the tragedy of the family of the slain journalist. Their loss is not lessened... but nor is is more.

All Canadians grieve for our fallen. The true heroes are the ones that step outside the protective confines of 'camp' and do the dirty work.
