Townhall Meeting In Your Own Home!

Voters have listened to the debates, they have heard the stump speeches (too many times), they are now turning their attention towards their riding candidates. This election is down to who voters are going to vote for in their ridings.

I was reminded of that this evening by a phone call from my MP, James Rajotte. It was a townhall meeting in your own home. It was a conference call made from my MP to over 9000 people. If you stayed on the line you could listen to the questions and hear how your MP answered the questions. You could ask a question if you wanted to, or just listen. I listened, and it was worth it. The questions were actually about the issues and party platform. One NDP voter noted that even though he didn't vote for James, he respected him and the job he was doing. That is what becomes most important, electing a MP that will listen to all sides, and work with everyone in the riding. James is an excellent MP, and will get re-elected with his usual over 50% of voter support, from all parties. I'm hoping he will get to become a Minister, but that doesn't really matter, I just like that he helps all constituents.

I wonder if NDP MP Linda can say the same thing? NOT! She wants to shut new development of the oil sands down, killing thousands of jobs on top of her party wanting to bring in cap and trade.

Driving through the Edmonton Strathcona riding, it is a close sign race. Linda has more huge signs (not very environmentally friendly, tsk, tsk!) and more signs parked on public land, such as one right by the crosswalk of an elementary school (NDP going for the kid vote!). Ryan has more signs the further you get away from the university area.

Voters are going to start concentrating on which local candidate to vote for during Easter, then they will tune out to watch hockey and the royal wedding.

Alberta Quiet Now, Soon To Erupt!

Alberta, the "bad boy" for voting Conservative is being battered from all sides because we dare to be productive and create jobs, which in turn creates wealth. I am sick and tired of the NDP and Liberals using us as a whipping boy to incite the masses against our oil sands.

We have one lone NDP MP "environmental" lawyer in Alberta, she only got elected because Conservatives were ticked off with Jaffer. As I drive through that riding to get to work, I see lots of Duncan signs, but I drive through the university area so that is expected. Soon the university students go home and the properties with signs will sit empty. That means the real residents of the riding, not the university students will actually get to determine the results in the riding.

What bothers me about Duncan is that she won because of all the Liberals voting for her instead of their own party. It was a mini Liberal/NDP coalition. That really tells you exactly how "principled" those Liberals are, if they would abandon their own candidate and vote NDP. It also shows you how FAR left the Liberals have drifted. Classical Liberals would be more at home with Conservatives.

Duncan released her report after the standing committee on environment and sustainable development failed to reach a consensus after a two-year study into the effects the oilsands industry has on water in Alberta and the Northwest Territories. During the two-year study, the MPs on the committee heard from 60 witnesses and toured the oilsands around Fort McMurray, Alta. In the end, no report on the committee's findings was issued to the government.

It would be safe to say that Duncan is the first Green candidate to be elected to Parliament. She hates the oil sands, wants to stop the development, and actually thinks Alberta is going to thank her for it. Vote her out. She already has a huge university pension, and if she is re-elected she will get a huge pension paid for by Canadian taxpayers.

Funny how those NDP candidates like Layton and his wife talk about supporting the "poor" and suck up over a million dollars a year in income from taxpayers. Duncan is no different. She wants to retire with two golden pensions that middle class Canadians could not even imagine.

The environmental effects also spill over into the neighbouring jurisdictions of Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territories.

The report says additional oilsands projects should not be approved until environmental assessments do a better job of outlining cumulative impacts.

It also recommends Environment Canada dispatch inspectors to Fort McMurray to keep on top of environmental law violations.

Such a monitoring system should be paid for by public and the oilsands industry, Duncan said.

The report released by Liberal members of the committee came to similar conclusions.

Linda Duncan has been working against all the hard working people who have come to Alberta in hopes of getting a good paying job in the oil industry. She has her law degree, those who toil daily in the oil sector do not. She wants to send more people to the unemployment lines, because it won't impact her in any way. It's easy to preach from a golden pension platform, looking down at the peons.

This election, both the NDP and Liberals have come out against the oil sands, even though Iggy stated he would not kill the golden goose.

“Under Stephen Harper, every single Quebecker is sending roughly $75 a year to subsidize dirty fossil fuel producers,” Mr. Layton said at Insertech Angus, a company that trains underemployed young people to rebuild computers from cast-off parts.

“The result of this subsidy is an increase in the greenhouse gases pumped out in Canada and a competitive disadvantage for businesses looking to build clean solutions and the new energy economy,” Mr. Layton said.

He fails to mention the 17 BILLION that Alberta sends to the rest of Canada, 8 BILLION going to Quebec alone. He also fails to mention that oil companies already pay into a research and development fund in Alberta. He came to Alberta and forgot to even mention the oil sands, then he goes to Quebec and slams our province. Hypocrite. Here is an even bigger hypocrite, who told Alberta he would never, never, never ever kill the golden goose and then turns around and proceeds to do just that:

Once again, Canada's most valuable resource and prime job-creator sounds like a temporary case of gas. Two days before, Ignatieff made Alberta's political irrelevance even more obvious when he released his energy policy.

There would be a tanker ban on the West Coast, so forget pipelines and oilsands exports to China -forget, in fact, the province's entire strategy for the future of the oilsands.

The Liberals also plan to institute a national cap-andtrade strategy that would surely suck billions out of Alberta.

To ensure that no coin is overlooked, they would immediately halt an investment-friendly tax break the Conservatives will allow to linger until 2015.

Can you say NEP II??? This is worse than Dion's carbon shaft, this is a clear indication that the NDP and Liberals, with Bloc support are planning to steal from the west to give to the east.

Alberta is quiet now, we have been listening to Layton, Iggy and Duncan closely. We have made our minds up, and will vote Conservative this election, but what the opposition doesn't understand and obviously doesn't care about is that Alberta is simmering. We are stoking the fires right now, waiting for the election results, but we are tired of all opposition parties making us the "bad boys" of Confederation, when we are the ones who are feeding them.

The sickening part is that the opposition think they can continue to stomp on us with their Birkenstock, while sipping their lattes, and calling us knuckle dragging (Fife CTV), rednecked, hillbillies, while taking our taxes from us to support all their socialist programs. Shades of Atlas Shrugged!

Be very careful what you vote for Canada. Our very existence as a country depends on it. Ignore the west if you dare. Join us if you want a strong vibrant country. We will not be stopped by eco-nuts like Duncan Donuts. It is still the wild west, where we believe in the individual, guns, private property and God.

Families Matter To Conservatives....

The opposition? Not so much. They talk big, promise the moon, and fail to deliver every single time.
They whine about the deficit that they FORCED PM Harper to incur, then they whine about the Conservatives not implementing the family income splitting fast enough, which would cause an even bigger deficit. I'd tell them to give their heads a shake, but it would probably dislodge the one functioning brain cell they have left.

I love the plan by the Conservatives to allow income sharing for families with children under 18 years old. I also like the fact that it will only be implemented when our deficit is under control. By the time this happens, my two boys will be over 18, but that doesn't bother me in the least. It would have been nice to get the tax benefit, but at least young families will get the tax break.

The snarky response from both Layton and Ignatieff was to be expected, they have no plan and no policies. The lefty media of course supported Iggy. Funny how they will not report on this little gem:



Duceppe and Layton need to apologize for lying to Canadian voters. Such sad, sad little leaders, of sad, sad little parties. No morals, no policies, nothing except the raping of Canadian taxpayers to pay for their little schemes.

From all reports PM Harper had a full house in Beaumont, which is about 10 minutes out of Edmonton. I liked seeing that Laureen is traveling with him, she is a live wire, and a secret weapon for the campaign. Watch the first few minutes of this coverage of PM Harper's stop here in Edmonton.

NDP MP Linda Duncan is going down so that Alberta can be all blue, and she will not get a golden pension for life! She thinks she can get the oil sands closed down without it impacting her riding. What is it with former professors and a lack of common sense?

Everyone Has A Twin....

And I found Linda Duncan's twin, sort of. First off, let me state that Linda Duncan, NDP MP in Edmonton, is going down to defeat next election. She just supported the gun registry, does she have a tin ear, does she only listen to the lefty university students she used to teach? Does she realize that she represents ALL people in her riding? I don't think so, she likes to slam the oil sands, Alberta's meat and potatoes.

Twins separated at birth? Not quite, she wants ethics and honour, something Duncan has yet to learn. Watch the clip, this is what will sink Duncan. The NDP showed neither ethics nor honour in their gun registry vote. Linda Duncan will be held to account by the voters in her riding, and she will only have herself to blame for getting the boot! Plus, if we boot her now, no gold plated pension for her!

Conservatives, Not Hungry Anymore?

I was thinking about why I'm not really that engaged with politics right now, and I came to the conclusion that I'm not hungry for a win anymore. Conservatives are in power now, not clawing their way out of opposition. The Liberals have been reduced to a rump party of Toronto/Montreal, and the NDP and Greens are irrelevant as usual.

Last election I just wasn't fired up because my MP wins by margins of 60% or more. We didn't have to fight the Liberals anymore, especially with Dion as their leader, Iggy is no better. I will volunteer in NDP MP Linda Duncan's riding next election because that is the only challenging seat left in Alberta.

If a lowly volunteer is unmotivated, how about our Conservative MP's? Have they lost the fire in their guts? Are they taking votes for granted? Are they just trying to hang on to power? Have they forgotten the voters who got them there in the first place? Here in Alberta, they know they will get reelected, not very motivating. If they aren't motivated, why should we be?

The long gun issue is one that might motivate Conservatives, but what else? What's on your wish list? The HRC's are at the top of mine.

It's Time To Listen To Us...the Taxpayers!

Forget about the MSM, they are so biased that even my Liberal parents don't want us paying over $1 billion a year for the CBC anymore. Even Global Edmonton had a piece about proroguing Parliament, they went to a citizens ceremony and asked NEW Canadians what they thought....no, really they did! Born Canadians don't even have a clue what proroguing is let alone new Canadians. That's how low the MSM has to stoop, my respect for Gord Stenke just took a huge nosedive. Guess we won't switch from Fox News to watch Global local news anytime soon. Aren't they crying about local news coverage being cut? I won't feel bad anymore if that happens.

Forget the opposition, they are socialists who want everyone to be as miserable as they are. Have you ever known a happy, content lefty? They have no clue what Canadians think, want or feel. Wild hair greenie NDP MP Linda Duncan was at the ceremony, whining about not being able to work....duhhh lady, what were you doing at the ceremony than?

It's time to listen to US, you know the voters, and most importantly the TAXPAYERS!! Let the opposition whine and cry and stomp their feet about non-issues, we need to tell the governments, at every level what we want our money spent on.

Consulting with Canadians

I already filled in my wish list, and top of the list is extending the Home renovation Tax Credit program!

This program is a win for everyone. The homeowner gets renovations done, which increases the value of their home, plus they get a tax credit. The trades get more work because homeowners are doing their renovations sooner than they might have. Businesses are getting more orders for everything from landscaping materials to new appliances. The government gets to DIRECTLY impact the taxpayer by giving them some of their money back. A new road is great, but taxpayers need to see some actual reward and this program provides it to them.

My second wish was that ALL charitable organizations, and lobby groups would get de-funded.

My third wish was for CBC to have to survive or die without the $1 billion a year from taxpayers. You would think that CTV and Global would like that to happen, but from the reporting of those stations, it appears that they are all one big lefty family.

My fourth wish was for no tax increases to get back into a balanced budget. If they just leave Alberta, Saskatchewan and Newfoundland alone, we will fill the federal coffers again. Also as civil servants retire, don't rehire.

It's time they listen to the taxpayers, but they can't hear you if you don't tell them what you think, so take the time to go to the budget site and tell them what you want. Remember 60% of Canadians are going to propose all those lefty free spending ideas, like environment, daycares, free university type issues while ignoring fiscal responsibility.

Someone Is Out Of Touch!

Even NDP rural MP's understood the importance of getting rid of the long gun registry, only the Liberals were out of tune and one NDP'er.



Linda Duncan, MP for Edmonton Strathcona voted against the bill. How out of touch is this MP? She has no clue what her constituents want or she just blindly ignores what they want, I'm not sure which. Her opponent can make real hay out of her vote to support the gun registry. Edmonton might be growing into a big city, but what she fails to realize is that a lot of us like hunting and the deer meat supports a lot of families, who might otherwise go without.

It appears she is already nervous, so her vote against the gun registry is not going to help her here in Edmonton.

Linda Duncan was only elected because the Liberals and NDP joined forces to vote for her, even if they try the same stunt next election, the Conservatives will out vote both parties.

Linda Duncan, out of touch with 40% of her riding, will not ride again. One less pork barrel pension to be concerned about, she already has a great pension from the U of A. One is enough. Let the lady walk into the sunset next election, she is a do nothing greenie, in the land of individual's who respect independence, and free will. With her vote against all our farmers, she has sealed her own fate. So be it.

Greenpeace is at it again, and they need to be shut down, arrested, and charged millions for the disruptions they are causing. Hit them in the pocketbook and hit them HARD!

Greenpeace protesters take over Shell site in Alberta

FORT SASKATCHEWAN -- Greenpeace protesters occupied an oilfield site outside Edmonton on Saturday, the third dramatic demonstration the group has staged against Alberta's controversial oilsands development in recent weeks.

It's 4C out here today, I say leave them up there! Start counting the millions they are costing, and then sue.

On Wednesday, 21 activists were granted bail by an Alberta court after they occupied the Suncor site near Fort McMurray, Alta., by floating down the Athabasca River.

The protesters blocked conveyor belts and unfurled a large banner on the river.

Those activists were each been charged with one count of mischief over $5,000, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in jail.

And, last month, activists infiltrated Shell's Muskeg River Mine, forcing the company to shut down its 155,000-barrel-a-day operation for several hours. There were no charges laid in that incident.

So, the judge let them go, and what do they do? Go right back at it again. Some of these protesters are foreigners, if you don't keep them in jail, they will just leave the country and we will never see them again. Jail them and hold them without bail.

They blockaded the giant truck and shovel by chaining the pickup trucks together. They then chained themselves to the larger truck while a second group placed giant banners on the ground that say: "Tar Sands: Climate Crime."

Last week, Pat Nelson, a former Alberta energy minister who now is vice-chairwoman of the In Situ Oil Sands Alliance, told an oilsands conference in Edmonton that the Greenpeace incursion at Shell was "an act of violence against our livelihoods and reputation, and our future. And a total disregard for the laws of Alberta, all for the sole purpose of making headlines."

Don't think it impacts you out there in the east, because you get your oil from overseas? Why is it that you complain about oilsands oil, but are willing to buy blood oil from the mideast and Africa? Why are easterners willing to earn their living in Alberta, but refuse to allow Albertans to work in Atlantic Canada?

Energy in Québec

More than three-fifths of the crude oil that Québec purchases comes from the North Sea (United Kingdom and Norway). The rest is purchased in Venezuela, Algeria, Mexico and the Middle East. Canadian oil figures only marginally in Québec's crude oil supplies, although it was the leading source in the early 1980s.

Two-thirds of oil deliveries reach Québec by oil pipeline, and the remainder by sea. The main transmission facility is the Portland-Montéal oil pipeline, which brings crude oil delivered to the port of Portland, Maine, to refineries in Montréal.

Canadian oil figures only marginally in Quebec, so they think closing down the oilsands is a good thing for the environment, yet shipping oil by sea is safe and non-polluting? What if oil was found in Quebec and Alberta refused to buy their oil?

Almost all of the natural gas consumed in Québec is imported from Alberta. Over the past 30 years, two natural gas deposits have been developed in Québec, one at Pointe-du-Lac near Trois-Rivères, and the other at Saint-Flavien south of Québec City.

Since 1980, Québec has considerably broadened its natural gas distribution system. The industrial sector is the largest gas consumer, accounting for 60 % of overall consumption.

Well, isn't that interesting! What if the Greenpeace protesters shut down the natural gas pipeline, would Quebec wake up? Industrial is 60% of consumption. So, if the protesters shut that pipeline down, it would shut down Quebec industry. I wonder how much of that production is headed to Alberta?

"Canada imports 58 percent of the oil we consume. By region, about 40 percent of the oil used in Ontario is imported, while about 90 percent of the oil used in Quebec and the Atlantic provinces is imported. Approximately 25 percent of this oil comes from the unstable regions of the Middle East or North Africa. Yet Canada's oil exports to the United States are steadily growing. In 2004, 70 percent of Canada's [extracted oil] went to the United States. In 1998 the figure was 60 percent. In 1990 the figure was 50 percent.

So, while the U.S. seeks to support its energy needs and fund its ongoing imperial project, the Alberta landscape is being torn up; the community exposed to pollutants and possible fallout from the use of nuclear power,...the people who are the casualties of the US empire (Mexicans, Filipinos, etc.) are torn from families and used as cheap disposable labour under the TFWP; Albertans face displacement as CEOs and executives move in and colonize cities, turning rental units into condos...and all Albertans experience the strain of the boom as the government opens the door to capital without thought for infrastructure, health care and community needs...

US empire? Colonize cities? Yikes, I wonder if she is out in the cold today protesting with Greenpeace. I wonder where NDP MP greenie Linda Duncan is today? Out marching with Greenpeace? If she truly cares about her constituents, she would be working hard to get them jobs in the oil patch, not trying to shut it down.

I realize that the "show up for work" thing is going to confuse a lot of you leftards out there, but some of us - out here in the real world - actually DO IT...

I see some posters talking about how the Tar snds should be shut down.
Get your facts straight people. The tar sands are not as dirty as they have been made out to be. Yers open pit mines are an eye sore. How ever Shell is actually the cleanest of these plants.

Go ahead you fools shut them down. Go ahead and shut down the one industry left in this country for Engineers, tradesmen, and hard working people from all over the counrty. That would put thoushands and thousands out of great paying jobs, and kill the main economic engine driving this country, not to mention rural parts of the entire country.

Seeing is knowing. The oil is naturally in the sand. Deal with it.

Question Period: Liberals and NDP Hurting Canadians

The Liberals voted for the budget and they think that's where their responsibility to the Canadian people ends. The NDP voted against the budget before they even saw it. Now the Liberals want to stop the seal hunt! A Liberal Senator and Warren Kinsella are both named. Three different Conservative MP's mentioned him, by name, is he going to sue them all? I wonder how the Liberal MP's from Newfoundland are going to vote? Do they get another free pass on this issue?



What really made the bile rise in my throat was NDP MP Linda Duncan spouting off against Alberta. She talks about the "tarsands". No self respecting Albertan calls them tarsands, she might as well have said "dirty oil". What a traitor to her province, you can hear the Conservative MP's yelling, "where are you from?", they know how Albertan's will feel about her remarks. Total disgust! I will be door knocking in her riding next election, she has betrayed 45% of her constituents with her blather. She needs to realize that she is not a professor anymore, and that people do not have to believe everything she says. If any of my readers are in her riding, I suggest you phone her office and give her some idea of how she is not representing ALL of her riding.

Mostly during question period you get the distinct impression that the opposition is trying to stall any money for Canadians. I didn't like the budget, but now that it is passed, let's get the money into projects as fast as possible. The Liberals do not want that, they want to be able to point fingers and say, "see, we told you they wouldn't do anything". Babies, grow up, all of you. Pass the budget and stop hurting Canadians.

Oh, and I find it pretty funny that the Liberals are complaining about "attack ads" that haven't even been created or aired yet, that's how low they are willing to go to get in the papers. Too bad no one but us political junkies care.

Get Out Of Jail Free!

Iffy gave his Newfoundland MP's a "get out of jail free" card, now other Liberals are jumping on the bandwagon. During Question Period, all the BC Liberal MP's stood up to yap about how hard done by BC was in comparison to all other provinces. Maybe they should look at what their Liberal Premier has been doing, like a carbon tax that might have helped to kill all those jobs.



Funny how the provinces in trouble are all led by Liberal provincial governments. Hey, I might be on to something here. HA!!

Are the Toronto Liberals next, or the Quebec Liberals, who is going to splinter the Liberals further? The Liberals are playing Monopoly, with Bay Street as their target. Problem is no one actually accepts monopoly money as a medium of exchange, and that's all the Liberals have to play with.

NDP MP Linda Duncan also showed how she supports her riding, by voting against the budget and worse of all telling Albertans that carbon capture is not viable. Edmonton, you get what you vote for. I can at least respect the Newfoundland MP's for voting with their constituents, Duncan is never going to do that, the NDP is the least democratic party we have in Canada. Socialists, it's their way or nothing. I know the caliber of candidate they attract, and Duncan is a prime example.

Liberals splintering into provincial groups is what Iffy should have expected, but after only 3 years in Canada, maybe he has no clue what makes Canada work.

PM Harper was outstanding! Most importantly watch the Liberals, they are not happy, many are not supportive of Dion. They know they are going down big time if they continue to support Dion and the Separatist Coalition. Watch it to the end, Dion and Harper go toe to toe, and Dion lost a foot!

The coalition is dead, before it was even born, funny that, it's been aborted. Liberals should support that.

What went wrong?

The opposition had a premature ejaculation, they got so excited about gaining power that they jumped the gun over nothing. You see, they were planning this for months, and only listening to themselves, they forgot us, the voters in all their calculations. They thought (as we are endlessly told) 62% of Canadians would be overjoyed with the coalition.

They were plotting for a defeat of the budget in March/April, that's why they passed the Throne Speech, hoping to buy time and give Dion one more chance for an election before the Liberal's May convention, but they saw their taxpayers subsidies disappearing, the NDP freaked out, so they moved up the date. Bad mistake because with only an update to quibble about, with the contentious parts now omitted, after only 6 weeks since the last election, they over played their hand, and Canadians are giving them an earful. Dion clearly has no political sense, and if Iggy and Rae continue to support this coalition, they might become leaders of the Liberal party, but nothing will be left, except debt and empty seats. Let's go, and let's go NOW, no delays.

And for those fools saying PM Harper must go.....get a life. I am 100% behind PM Harper and all Conservative MP's. Your attempts to sabotage the Conservative party are pathetic. Try saving the Liberal party, after this coalition garbage, they will need serious resuscitation.

This coalition of the want-to-be's, is unacceptable, not just to Conservatives, but to other party members.

If this coalition is such a great idea, call an election, let Canadians decide, that's all we are asking for, a fair vote, which is one of the options the GG has, so let's use it.

Now, let the fighting begin within the coalition as to which party will run their candidate in which riding, that should be fun. Further to the rally at Linda Duncan's riding office, we finally found it, they seemed to not be answering calls from Edmonton, but we tracked her office location down, more fun happening on Thursday and Saturday!
