Get Out Of Jail Free!

Iffy gave his Newfoundland MP's a "get out of jail free" card, now other Liberals are jumping on the bandwagon. During Question Period, all the BC Liberal MP's stood up to yap about how hard done by BC was in comparison to all other provinces. Maybe they should look at what their Liberal Premier has been doing, like a carbon tax that might have helped to kill all those jobs.

Funny how the provinces in trouble are all led by Liberal provincial governments. Hey, I might be on to something here. HA!!

Are the Toronto Liberals next, or the Quebec Liberals, who is going to splinter the Liberals further? The Liberals are playing Monopoly, with Bay Street as their target. Problem is no one actually accepts monopoly money as a medium of exchange, and that's all the Liberals have to play with.

NDP MP Linda Duncan also showed how she supports her riding, by voting against the budget and worse of all telling Albertans that carbon capture is not viable. Edmonton, you get what you vote for. I can at least respect the Newfoundland MP's for voting with their constituents, Duncan is never going to do that, the NDP is the least democratic party we have in Canada. Socialists, it's their way or nothing. I know the caliber of candidate they attract, and Duncan is a prime example.

Liberals splintering into provincial groups is what Iffy should have expected, but after only 3 years in Canada, maybe he has no clue what makes Canada work.

Linda Duncan represents the riding of Edmonton Strathcona, and not the entire city of Edmonton. Let me assure you, as one of her constituents, she is serving the wishes of her riding.

hunter said...

No, she is serving your lefty wishes, not ALL constituents in her riding.

Bec said...

Not for long, Gayle.
What after her betrayal of the WEST, with her leaders coalition? Nice try. I will move to Edmonton, abandon my MP just to knock on doors against that Alberta, turncoat.

maryT said...

What was the vote count for her, did she win a majority of votes, or were more votes cast against her. If so, those voters should ask her to resign, and select one of the other candidates. They could get together and play that rock, scissors, paper game to come up with a winner.

Duncan (42.58%) won by less than 500 votes over Jaffer (41.6%). The Liberal and the Greens had about 7300 votes between them so Mary is correct that the majority voted against Duncan.

Bec said...

Oh Ardvark, say it isn't so, a coalition?
The potential was there but NO, only complete and total SLIME BUCKETS, participate in coalitions and Linda Duncan, is one.

Ardvark said...

Don't be so hard on Duncan. She played a huge part in getting the conservatives invited onto Jack Layton's famous conference call where he disclosed that the NDP and the Bloc had been working on the coalition idea for a long time before the "CRISIS" happened.

Ardvark - I like your logic - if the coalition can use the old "x percent voted AGAINST Harper", we can use the same logic to say that x percent voted AGAINST Duncan. Love it when we can use their twisted logic to bite them on their respective butts.

As for Ontario, Hunter, McGuinty is starting to redeem himself. Howard Hampton is leaving the NDP after a disastrous turn as leader and John Tory is heck-bent on proving what a selfish, Dion-like fool he is. He handed the last election to McGuinty and he lost his seat. He steadfastly refuses to give up his position as leader (like Dion tried) even though the PC will never win with him at the helm. He, in essence, stole his current seat from a duly elected MPP.

McGunity passed back-to-work legislation so that York students could actually get some value for their money - yes, he was late, but he did act. McGuinty shamed the CPC into getting off its butt with regard to our transit strike. McGuinty made the TTC an essential service but the federal government will not make our transit service (federal jurisdiction) essential.

So, McGuinty is looking pretty good. And, he is appearing to cooperate with the federal government. He won his first election because the province was repulsed by Ernie Eves. He won his second election because John Tory came out with his faith-based schools funding. He lost big time and refuses to give up his leadership of the party - selfish, stupid, bull-headed...and he wears women's glasses. All in all, the PC doesn't stand a chance.

The way I see it, McGuinty made two mistakes - the health tax and George Smitherman. Other than that, he is looking very good.

As for Duncan representing her riding's wishes - balderdash. No MP represents the wishes of an entire riding and to make a blanket statement just isn't sensible.

Is she the same LPC who was interviewed by some journalist named Suhana (or something like that) along with Lisa Raitt. If she is the same woman, then she's a robot. Every question that Suhana put to her was replied with a speaking point making Dion sound like the second Messiah. Lisa Raitt came across very well but the other one, and I think her name was Duncan, came across as a Dion robot. Pathetic.

And she won over Jaffer? Sheesh.

Sorry - I mixed up my "Duncans". The Duncan who was interviewed alongside Lisa Raitt was a Liberal, not an NDP.

Here's a golden opportunity for SQ to do his bit - read this column and then apply to be Omar Khadr's foster parent. Go for it, SQ - put your money where your mouth is.

Sorry to disapoint you but Carbon Capture is a scam, farce, and a huge waste of money.

I wish the CPC would stop giving lip service to the Enviromentalists and tell Canadians the truth, and stop funding this Global Warming Nonsense. We should be focusing on water quality and other real enviromental problems.

And finally with THAT statement Gayle has nothing to say! Kudos!

Northern Raven - you are so correct. This whole global warming and CO2 schtick is a load of hooey. Water pollution and the air pollution coming from Asia are the big ones. The other is just a new industry coming into its own and we have silly politicians on the left making a huge deal out of it - talk about being suckers.

Edmonton Strathcona is the type of area that Dippers feed off of.
As Adler puts it, Dippers don't give people hope, they feed off the hopeless, the down and outs...

Conservatives must make an unprecedented effort to get out the vote next election,
especially where the coalitionists have or are a threat of taking the riding.

This organizing should be happening right NOW.
Rather than being paralysed by the economic down turn, let's get on it!!

Gayle said...

"No, she is serving your lefty wishes, not ALL constituents in her riding."

You mean like how Harper spends all the stimulus money in CPC ridings, or creates tax cuts targeted at CPC voters?

If you believe that politicians should find some position that is favoured by the entire country, I think you better start with Harper.

And are you suggesting Jaffer DID serve the wishes of all his constituents. He did not win a majority of votes when he last won the riding - in fact, he won far fewer votes than Linda Duncan did this time. The only reason he won was because the NDP and the LPC split the vote.

No, your real complaint is that she is not doing what YOU want her to do.

As for those of you who think she will lose next time around, pay attention:

More people have always voted against the CPC than for them in this riding.

Since you people like to lump all the "lefty" political parties together, what you are left with is that the majority of this riding voted for "lefty" parties - parties that ALL promoted the environment over development of the tar sands.

Gayle said...

"Conservatives must make an unprecedented effort to get out the vote next election..."

They tried that last time. Heck, Jaffer even made it into my neighbourhood to campaign. Not that it did him any good.

sor said...

Duncan is not the only one who did not get a majority of votes. Layton didn't either, nor did his wife.

Regarding the BC Liberals, two of them only won their seats by 22 votes and 50 votes so they definitely do not have majority support. Cheers.

Gayle said...

By the way Hunter, have you looked up the word "hypocrite" yet? How about how someone born in Canada is, actually from Canada.

I ask, because I note that you have not posted my comments on the thread below.

wilson said...

More people have ALWAYS voted against Jack Layton and Olivia Chow in their ridings too.
Time to form a coalition and dump that pair of losers!

Linda Duncan is going to go down Gayle.
We evil Conservatives are going to see to it.

Gayle said...

Then I suggest a bunch of you move into the riding Wilson.

Although I can certainly understand why this one riding would become so significant - Harper could use all the seats he can get, what with the recent poll numbers and all...

Gayle said...

Hey - my neighbours were disappointed Jaffer lost, and their two oldest children just might be old enough to vote next time, so there are two more votes for Jaffer.

See, I am even helping you!

Iffy has created a monster of of problem for himself, by letting Danny's 6 vote against the party, especially on a confidence vote.

Are Danny's 6 going to sit by quietly while Liberals support Quebec's (vs Nfld) side in charting the provincial boundry?

Provincial differences are huge, and Iffy just allowed the formation of provincial bloc parties within the LPC.
What a rookie.

wilson said...

'Then I suggest a bunch of you move into the riding Wilson.'

I don't have to live in the riding to volunteer Gayle.
I have wheels, can travel.

The recent poll numbers are the same poll numbers we have seen over and over and over again.

Iffy will have to come out from under the 'it's all your fault Harper' cloud some day, and present the LPC platform.

And just like Obama's debut economic stimulus package,
Iffy will fall flat on his creepy face.

wilson said...

Oh oh, signs of the end of the recession,
what will Iffy and Jack do with 'good news'?
How will they spin this into 'Harper is bad?'

You don't need volunteers in that riding Wilson - you need voters.

Oh brother. Same old speaking points re: stimulus spending. Completely irrelevant to the thread but good old Gayle just has to come out with the same old worn-out speaking poing.

As for pleasing the whole country - again a very irrelevant argument.

Yawn. Booorrrrring.

As for Jaffer - he came very close to Duncan so if he was a loser, she was a near-loser. If we had a coalition, she'd be a loser by a significant margin.

Anyway, Gayle, your arguments were pretty boring - and of course, you did insert your personal attack against Hunter. You, Gayle, are the hypocrite for chastising us for alleged personal attacks (you do see things that are not there) and then you turn around and level an attack at Hunter (as well as other people fairly frequently). You, Gayle, are a hypocrite.

Gayle said...

"As for Jaffer - he came very close to Duncan so if he was a loser, she was a near-loser."

Interesting. Of course, you fail to acknowledge that she unseated Jaffer. However, by your "analysis", Jaffer has been a "near loser" for a few elections now. Duncan just finished the job.

Not like you, eh Kory? I'm sure you are pleased that hunter got today's fax though:

BT FAX:

Henceforth, please refer to the Opposition leader as Iffy. Kindly call CPC HQ if you need to have it explained what this new moniker means. It is very advanced humour for BTs and we'd like to keep you all on the same page.

Thank you.

Really hate to hit you with logic but those Christmas gift cards were paid for in December, just used in January.
Your logic is liberally flawed.

When you purchase a gift card from a store, it is not considered a sale. It sits on the corporate balance sheet as a liability until merchandise is purchased. Then it is a sale. Accounting 101. It's what I do.

FWIW Never sit with a gift card from a store that is about to go bankrupt, spend it. Otherwise, you just become another creditor of the corporation.

Frys with that?

I wonder if the liberal Duncan also got invited to that conference call, and is sitting in the dark with a tape of said call.
And in case anyone missed it, check out a comment at BLY, re Khdar,by Lorraine at 2.22p.m. and click on the link to a pic of poor Khdar. Warning, he ain't so innocent holding the severed hands he cut off someone. Pay attention to his smile.
I see gayle has decided to invade this blog with her so called wisdom, to support the ndp.

Except he didn't cut them off himself. He was being trained to do so though. Like any soldier is trained to kill and frighten their enemy. If this makes him so bad, what is learning to kill doing to our own troops? Do you believe Canadian troops should also be barred from returning to Canada since they have learned to kill in wars?

Pay attention to his smile.
Why? He smiles like those kids that were perched on Saddam Hussein's knee for some photo-op. Real insightful.

I see you are continuing the ad hominem that passes for debate around here. It might be more interesting if you got your facts right though.

Awww, I had to do something so I couldn't reply to ScottS right away.

Your logic is liberally flawed.
Unfortunately, I can't come back with a snark about conservatives, since a conservative would know full well the difference between a sale and an unearned prepayment.

But far right extremists don't. They just figure if you have something they don't you must have stolen it or didn't really earn it. So they confiscate it. You know, like Deficit Jim is doing?

LS, are you saying you were there and trained him to cut off hands. How do you know he was in training. Was he also trained in how to cut off someones head.
Get a life, and take gayle with you.

LS you are totally disgusting to even make the accusation that our troops might be learning to cut off the hands of enemies.

You are banned for being disgusting. Take SQ and Gayle with you. This blog is back to comment moderation because of lefties that has no respect for our troops! I was raised in an army town, and you lefties are not fit to wipe the shoes of our military men and women.

I can't believe that people on the left really think that badly about the people who keep us safe. You do not support our troops, you are sleazy terrorist supporters like Liberal/NDP MP's marching in parades with terrorist flags waving instead of Canadian flags.

This is my blog, you lefties can go back to Rabble, where they NEVER allow a conservative voice because they are progressive and too busy destroying Canada as we know it to allow a different opinion.

I wanted to allow a diversity of opinions, but typical lefties had to go too far again! You sick....

maryT said...

Thank you for that last comment. I agree with it 100%, and the actions you are taking.

Thanks Hunter. As one of your supportive commenters, I am fine with comment moderation on permanently. If it takes until the next day to see a comment, no problem. It is better than having to put up with LS, SQ, and the ever-annoying Gayle. These three contribute nothing. LS is offensive, SQ is totally beyond the pale and Gayle is the biggest pain I've ever encountered with her LPC speaking points and constant reiteration of her personal hatred for Harper. Ban them, delete their comments, take a day to do it but this time, Hunter, please stick with the moderation. I realize it's not the optimal route to follow but these idiots make it necessary. I, for one, will not mind at all if you left comment moderation on for a month or even longer.
