Our Country In Pictures, This Canada Day.

Thought I would show you in pictures, some of our country, in hopes that you appreciate, how vast, and beautiful this country of ours really is, and have a great Canada (Dominion) Day!

From PEI, if you want beautiful, quiet beaches, head to PEI

Another angle, we spent hours watching sailboats, and one night heard a whale, awesome place!

To Alberta

The Rockies:

The Columbia Icefields: This is just one little finger, back behind is 130 square miles of ice, 1200 feet deep.

We took the Gondola in Banff, will never do that again, I was scared p%$#less, but managed to snap a few pictures anyways!

Okay, okay, for you BC'ers, here's Lake Okanagan, haven't seen the Ogopogo yet, but will try again in July.

And finally, the best picture, of why we should be thankful during this Canada Day, our Prime Minister, and his lovely family!

Final Push, CBC Wish.

Before you leave for your cottages this weekend, sign in to facebook and make sure you vote for all the wishes you agree with, it's your right! Go to the Great Canadian Wish, and vote for something!

My wish is number one right now, and hopefully it will win!

Abolish Abortion in Canada, has been leading from very early on and if all goes well, will win. Right now it has 9246 votes, very close to 10,000, let's get it over that 10,000 mark!

The second leading wish, is for Canada to remain pro-choice, with 7684 votes as of my posting this.

The next are:

4373 For a spiritual revival in our nation.
4327 Restore the Traditional Definition of Marriage
3241 I wish tuition fees would be either lowered or eliminated.
3198 It's time for drastic measures to save our environment

So, looking at the second wish, pro-choice, why don't they call themselves pro-abortion? Why do lefties not want to be known as "for abortions"? They know abortion is murder, so they use "terms" like choice, taking away a women's right to choose, and various other phrases that never, ever, ever, mention abortion. Why don't we see rallies to "Support Abortion"? If Vietnam vets were "Baby Killer's", why aren't women who have abortions, "Baby Killer's" as well?

I have nothing but sympathy for women who have had abortions, they need our support, our understanding, and our help. One of my friends had one, and she regrets it to this day, some 20 years later. Women are doing themselves a huge dis-service by allowing abortion to be an option that women, in this day and age, in a country as free and peaceful as Canada, have as a "choice". You have the choice to have sex, you should not have the choice to kill any baby that arises from that choice. If I drink and drive and kill someone, I will face criminal charges.

In the end, we are only free to choose so long as that choice doesn't kill or harm someone else, and our government exists to take away those choices that do. Nobody argues that a man should be free to choose when the context is sexual assault. What a fool he would be to try and justify rape by saying, "My body, my choice." Why? Because rape is a violent assault which involves more than just one body. And so is abortion. The heart of the issue is not "choice". The real question is humanity, and nothing short of anarchy can guarantee the perfect freedom of choice.

You can not choose to kill, and then not expect any consequences for your actions.

So, please support the "Abolish Abortion" wish. We will have a lot fewer women regretting their choices, if they choose life!

CRTC, CBC and CTV.

Three months ago I switched from Shaw to Telus, I was supposed to save at least $30 a month by doing so, I didn't, but I knew that was going to happen because of the stupid CRTC rules. I did it so that one company provides my phone, internet and TV, if I could save money too, so much the better.

When we switched, we got 3 months free to sample all the stations Telus offers, then we were supposed to pick the packages and individual stations we wanted. I, of course, forgot to phone them, so last week, I turned on the TV, and only the essential stations were available. Here's what I can't figure out, the CBC news station was available, but CTV news had disappeared, if I wanted it back, I was going to have to pay for it, but not CBC news. Now, is that because of the CRTC rules? If so, why does one Canadian news station get special treatment over another, not that I like either one much.

I phoned up with a list of stations we wanted, supposedly you can get individual stations for $2 a month, I had 5 extra stations that we wanted, surprise, surprise, only one of them could be purchased individually, all the others required me to purchase the package, for example, I wanted TSN, nope, had to purchase the Sports package for $6.

This is all because of the CRTC rules, and those rules are costing us all big time, think about it: Basic service is $22 per month, add the 5 channels I wanted at $2 per month, that's $32 a month, but because some stations have to be packaged, I'm going to be paying $49 per month, so the CRTC rules are costing me $17 extra per month. Now, how many of you are in the same position? Do the math, and it's a sweet deal for TV providers isn't it?

If I was CTV, I'd be ticked off that CBC news is considered a basic station, but CTV news is not, a monopoly by taxpayer paid CBC, it stinks to high heaven. Luckily I finally have Fox news, that alone is worth the $6 for all the news stations, including CTV news.

Dog Nappers!

This is going too far, I love dogs, my 15 year old greyhound ( on the left in the picture, the other dog is a guide dog in training, Pride, who is now with his blind person and doing great!) is a part of my family, my boys are younger than she is, so they have always been around her, so when she leaves us, it's going to be devastating for all of us.

I also worry about the animals who are getting abused by their owners, I know a lady that rescues dogs from bad owners, just like the pair in the story, but you never hear those people who's dogs were stolen complaining, so I think this family has maybe had a neighbour that doesn't like dogs, phoning in anonymous complaints.

"The person probably doesn't know we have a door, so the dog goes in and out all the time," she said.

"There is food always left on the sundeck and inside the kitchen too. And my mother and sister are always home."

The family had been visited four times by the B.C. Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, after the group received an anonymous call about the puppy.

But the SPCA never found any suggestion the dog, named Tommy, had been harmed.

Neighbours also said they never saw any evidence to suggest the Toor family mistreated the animal.

Is the dog tied up all day, is it crying and barking, have the neighbours heard yelping? I know I would tromp on down to any neighbours house and confront them if I thought a pet was being abused, we should all be concerned about animal abuse. We have a dog next door that whines and barks constantly, it can be annoying, but it's not abuse. He's well loved, just not a great dog breed like my greyhound! I've had terriers, labs, and golden's, but the greyhound is the best by far, as long as you can spare a couch!

This case sounds like some lefties gone too far. If the SPCA came out 4 times and found nothing, no welts, no sores, no nothing, maybe there was nothing to it. Maybe anonymous should show themselves and tell the police what the abuse was, because I would, if I seriously thought a pet was being abused, you can bet, I wouldn't be anonymous, not ever!

Rumour Confirmed: Wildrose Party of Alberta!

Okay, the rumours are now confirmed, a new party for Alberta Conservatives has been formed.

Media Advisory
26 June, 2007

On Saturday, June 23, seventy-six Albertans gathered in Red Deer and
launched a political party.

They chose the name Wildrose Party of Alberta, after the province's floral
symbol of sovereignty within Confederation.

The party's main emphasis will be:

Reducing by constitutional means the enormous net outflow of wealth from
Albertans to the federal government

Ensuring that provincial decisions better reflect the mainstream values and
priorities of most Albertans

Ensuring that the party's Leader and MLAs honour their election promises
and commitments

The Wildrose group must now register as a nonprofit society, and then
collect 6004 Alberta signatures to gain party status. It will soon launch
an aggressive sign-up campaign to complete party registration by September,
in time for an October founding convention in Edmonton.

The Wildrose society/party also elected an executive on Saturday (see
below), and adopted a constitution.

The initiative began with an earlier Red Deer meeting (May 26) where fifty
people from diverse political backgrounds mostly agreed that existing
political parties can't or won't challenge the federal system and restrain
provincial spending.

The initiative was bolstered by two recent by-elections in which support
for conservative parties plunged overall, while liberal support did not
increase.

A province-wide poll conducted for the group by proCall Marketing of
Calgary found widespread desire across all of Alberta for a political
option of this sort.

It's so new that going to their site: www.wildroseparty.ca, just tells you it's coming soon. Now all they need is 6004 signatures, a leader and funds!

Okay, I still think they need a smart, good looking, menopausal, female to lead the party, so I'm putting my name forward the minute their site is up and running! HA!

Will this take off? It will depend on the leader, they need someone that will appeal to both urban and rural voters, that's going to be a tough one.

SSM Poll Gone Wrong!

I suspect that the Globe and Mail wanted different results for this poll, so I started watching it early.

Early results:

In your view, did Anglican bishops do the right thing in vetoing a resolution to allow same-sex union blessings in parish churches?
Yes
(83%) 8878 votes
No
(17%) 1830 votes
Total votes: 10708

Final Results:

In your view, did Anglican bishops do the right thing in vetoing a resolution to allow same-sex union blessings in parish churches?
Yes
(87%) 31774 votes
No
(13%) 4710 votes
Total votes: 36484

So, interesting 87% of people thought the Anglican bishops did the right thing, not quite what the G&M expected I think.

Why does any non-Anglican think that they should have any input into what that Church does, or doesn't do? I thought that religious rights were protected when SSM was made legal. Seems that's not enough for some lefties, I suspect it will never be enough until all morals have disappeared from all Churches and from society, it appears they are craving Rome just before the fall.

Winds Of Change In Alberta, Believe It Or Not!

Rumours, that's all I have, but somethings up in Alberta. I hear a new party is in the works. A new Conservative party.

Why? Well, real Conservatives were upset that the Liberals and NDP hi-jacked our leadership race when Ralph retired. In a way you can't blame them, they will never vote for the Premier any other way, not here in Alberta.

Now, you would think that Conservatives would be happy with Stelmach, problem is, I don't feel he is strong enough to fight Ottawa. I like him, and if this supposed new party doesn't have a strong leader, it's dead in the water, like the Alberta Alliance party. I like the Alliance platform, but they have a very weak leader, no-one knows who he is, and that's a problem. Same problem this new party will have, if they don't have someone Albertans recognize. Why would I throw away my vote for a new party, if it means that the Liberals might take power, not going to happen here. I couldn't stand a Liberal party ruling in Alberta, ever.

So, if the rumours are true, this new party has to get a leader with name recognition, maybe a present MP, Jim Prentice comes to mind, but the new party must realize that a great party platform is only one step towards winning, it's a great, strong leader that they need above all else.

The winds of change are blowing in Alberta, just not towards the Liberals or NDP. I should run for leader of this new party, maybe a female is what's needed! HA, just kidding!

Hazardous Material - Saturday Funny!

Okay, okay, don't get your socks in a knot, even though my handle is "Hunter", I'm female! My 14 year old son found this on the net, and thought it was hilarious, don't know what that says about what I've been teaching him, because, of course, I'm nothing like this:

Hazardous Materials Data Sheet!

Money For Kyoto Or Health Care For Free?

So, our unelected, useless Senate has bowed down to the Kyoto God, about 6 months too late.

Even Sleeping Beauty woke up and had more of her wits about her than our Senators showed. She kissed the Prince, the Senators kissed the frog!! Ribbit!!
I emailed one of my Senators about this very bill, here's part of his reply:

Averting Climate Change needs to be an absolute priority of the Canadian Government. The world’s most reputable climate scientists agree that climate change is undoubtedly caused by human influence, and progressing at a potentially devastating rate. The harmful effects of climate change will be felt significantly in Canada , with our great Northern regions and extensive prairies.

Many leading economists, scientists and business leaders agree that there are only marginal costs in achieving the Kyoto targets relative to what inaction will cost. McKinsey and Company, a well respected management consulting firm, indicates that real, genuine action can be taken on climate change without putting undue stress on the economy. The firm recently released a report concluding that the global cost for making the needed emissions reductions to avoid increased climate change in 2030 is only 0.6% of that year’s projected GDP. Furthermore the former Chief Economist and Senior Vice-President to the World Bank, Sir Nicholas Stern, revealed in his report to the UK government that the costs of ‘business as usual’ will be far greater than the costs associated with acting on climate change. He indicated that climate change could shrink the global economy by an incredible 20% whereas taking action now would only cost 1% of global GDP. Canada can afford take immediate action on climate change and indeed we must.

First off, "averting climate change", HELLO, climate changes, you can not AVERT it.

Second, "Many leading economists, scientists and business leaders agree that there are only marginal costs in achieving the Kyoto targets relative to what inaction will cost." Marginal costs, have any of these leading leaders explained to you that, marginal means, the next unit, so what they are saying is that there are only COSTS involved with fighting climate change, no BENEFITS! DUHHH!

Third: "real, genuine action can be taken on climate change without putting undue stress on the economy." How? If that was possible, why didn't the Liberals do that a decade ago? So, what "real genuine action" are you recommending Mr. Senator? Kyoto, that money sucking scheme, that transfers wealth from developed countries to Mo Strong hiding out in China? That genuine action? HA

I won't tell you what amazingly ill informed Senator this is, but if you look at what province I'm from, you should be able to figure it out without my help. This guy still quotes Stern? Does he think I'm an idiot, that I can't read, or is he just so arrogant that he thinks he knows best? Most important, this Liberal Senator feels that "Canada can afford (to) take immediate action".

So, I ask you, money for Kyoto or health care for free?. Why is that song, Money for nothing and chicks for free, playing through my head?

Dion Favoured For Smelly Dead Things!

Okay, I took editors licence with the title, but heck, if the MSM can be creative, so can I, right?

Here's an example of CTV's creative reporting, I can't call it writing because they took a Canadian Press article and changed the emphasis.

PM top choice as golf buddy, Dion to gallery hop

THE SLANT: Harper, helped in no small part by the overwhelming support of Conservative-leaning respondents, was the preferred choice in four of five activities.

Okay, so that gives the impression that more Conservatives answered this survey and that's why PM Harper did so well. Not necessarily so. What they cut from the original article, is this:

Decima noted there's a significant caveat in the poll results: those who like Harper, like him a lot. Others, not so much.

Conservative supporters in the survey overwhelmingly preferred Harper in all five activities, with Dion managing only single digit support.

"While the news is generally more positive for Mr. Harper than Mr. Dion, the advantage for Mr. Harper is substantially based on the views of his own party's supporters," said the Decima release.

Self-identified Liberal supporters in the survey preferred Dion's company in four of five activities - although more chose Harper for a round of golf. And even for a backyard barbecue, a significant 39 per cent of Liberal backers would prefer the Conservative prime minister's company, compared with 45 per cent who chose Dion.

NDP and Green party supporters preferred Dion in all five activities.

Bloc Quebecois backers, meanwhile, would camp and golf with Harper, could take or leave either leader for a barbecue or a day reading on the dock, but preferred a museum visit with Dion.

"Neither leader to date has made a strong positive connection with a majority of Canadians," noted Decima CEO Bruce Anderson.

Harper, said the pollster, "needs to generate more positive feelings among the 70 per cent of Canadians who are not inclined to vote Conservative right now."

As for Dion, "he is not disliked, but in order to draw voters towards him he needs to convey a more down-to-earth quality than he does right now," said Anderson.

The survey of more than 1,000 respondents was conducted May 31 to June 4 and is considered accurate to within plus or minus 3.1 percentage points, 19 times in 20.

Okay, now it starts to make better sense! Why would CTV have edited out the fact that "those who like Harper, like him a lot."? Or the fact that even Liberals would prefer to golf with Harper? Or the fact that Liberals, NDP and Green votes for Dion, combined, still had Dion trailing in 4 out of 5 categories? Talk about reporting by ignoring.

So, Dion is favoured by people who want to see smelly dead or old things (museums), not the best recommendation, I would think, for a maybe future PM!!

Tax Freedom Day!! Wow, I Feel Richer Already!

We slave through the long cold winter, through the spring, and finally, just before our short summer starts, we reach tax freedom day! Why don't I feel richer?

Could it be because 46% of what I make goes to governments? Think about that for a second, close to 50% of what you make gets taken away from you, most of it before it even hits your bank account! How do you benefit from those taxes? Let me break some of them down:

Municipal property taxes, these pay for my:

Roads (pothole city),

Schools (Kids go to a Catholic school, contrary to what people think, only Catholics pay for Catholic schools. We had to sign a special letter making sure that our portion of school taxes go to the Catholic schools, because my husband isn't Catholic, they wanted 1/2 of the taxes to go to the public schools. If you are non-Catholic and your kids go to a Catholic school, your taxes still go to the public school system.)

Sidewalks (we had our taxes raised because they needed to replace our sidewalks)

Provincial taxes, these pay for my:

Healthcare (Can't find a family doctor since ours retired, thank goodness we are healthy, I haven't seen a doctor since I had my last kid and he's 11 now.)

Environment (Going green has killed oil exploration here in Alberta, so watch all of Canada start to tank soon, very soon.)

Infrastructure (Costs are sky high, we can't afford to build anything here anymore, and don't have the workers even if we could afford it.)

Federal taxes, these pay for my:

EI (I've been working since I was 15, have used EI twice, once for 4 months, when my first child was born, once for 8 months when my second was born.)

CPP (If I live long enough, I might get some benefits from that tax.)

GST (Never have seen a rebate cheque.)
Childcare (For a few years my 2 kids received a $40 cheque for both of them. We couldn't even use our total childcare expenses, as the lowest wage earner is the only one who can claim the expense.)

So, 50% disappears from my paycheque, and very little helps me. I don't take the bus, I don't use the foodbank, I don't use EI, I pay extra for Alberta Bluecross, I pay for water, I pay for sewage, I pay for gas to heat my house, on and on it goes.

Who's benefiting, if it's not me, who is it? Special interest groups, have not provinces, government workers, seasonal workers, and welfare recipients. I get tired of listening to question period, because all the lefties want is more money for their socialist ideas. The Bloq is particularily disgusting, always wanting more for Quebec, they want layed off workers who are 55 to be able to get EI until their QPP kicks in, instead of having them look for new work. The NDP is now after help with prescription drugs, another healthcare sink hole. The Liberals are still yapping about their national daycare and Kyoto, both are money pits.

So, tax freedom day, WOW, I feel richer already! NOT!

C-21, It's All About Guns!

As a former rural, now urban dweller, I have no problem with people who want to own guns. To me it's like someone who wants another plasma TV, I don't have either, but if someone wants a perfectly legal product, go for it.

I watched some of the debate on CPAC tonight, it seemed to be an urban against rural split, two NDP MP's stood up it favour, from that I gather this will not be a whipped vote, so will the bill pass, will they abolish the useless long gun registry? If they vote on this before parliament dismisses, I think it just might pass.

First off, many MP's already appear to be absent, those who really care about this bill will stick around for the vote. I expect many Toronto MP's to be accidentally absent, because they know that the long gun registry is a huge waste (close to 2 Billion) of money.

Secondly, MP's of every strip are getting emails from rural voters telling them to vote to abolish a long gun registry that makes them into criminals for not registering their Grandpa's old rifle that they hang above the fireplace.

It's funny, Liberals jailed farmers for selling their own wheat to the US, now they want to take farmers guns away? I was at my Uncle's farm when a bear came crashing through the woods, thankfully my Uncle had a gun, one shot scared that bear off. Yet the opposition think a no-fly list for terrorists is a big no-no? So, farmers with guns bad, terrorists with bombs, okay.

Liberals keep on yapping about values, well when they support; stealing from taxpayers, swingers clubs, gay marriage, abortion, and taking guns away from citizens, I am positive that their values are not my values.

Ban criminals, not guns. Heck, let's ban Liberals.

Sick Puppies!

No, not real puppies, just plain sickos.

Among agencies that helped in the investigation was the Toronto Police Service, which conducted online surveillance along with British police, the centre said.

Toronto police say they've arrested 10 people since March 2006, bringing the total number of Canadian arrests to 24 since late 2005, and seven Canadian children were rescued.

Det.-Sgt. Kim Scanlon told CBC Newsworld the arrests were part of an operation dubbed Project Wickerman in Canada, and that an Ontario child was among the seven rescued.

Some of those arrested have already appeared in court but all the cases are still outstanding, said Scanlon.

“There's still ongoing suspects that we need to investigate,” she said. “As a result of each and every arrest, a seizure of computer equipment and information just becomes a whole host of more spin offs.”

Now, what do we do about these sickos? Where can they safely by put where they have no access to kids, or the Internet?

Hans Island! Build a jail, run by the inmates, throw them some food every month, and forget about them. Survival of the fittest, and no more harm being done to our children.

Harsh, not if you think about the infants that were harmed. Not if you read the reports of judges that refuse to look at some of the videos, because they are so horrendous. Yet those same judges give house arrest and light sentences in some cases, make the judges sit there and watch those videos, then maybe they will have some sympathy for the actual victims. Justice really is blind when judges are not watching all the evidence against these sicko's.

Happy Father's Day!

I'm lucky that I still have my Father to send best wishes to, and my boys have been catering to their Father all day, they are going to bbq for him tonight. I will be helping of course, but my oldest is a great cook, he just can't quite get the timing of things right yet.

For a really inspiring story of a Father, read this story. My name is Richard E. Hoyt Jr., and I have cerebral palsy. I cannot speak or walk. To write this story, I'm using a computer with special software. When I move my head slightly, the cursor moves across an alphabet. When it gets to the letter I want, I press a switch at the side of my head.

I am half of Team Hoyt. We are a father-and-son team, and we compete in marathons and triathlons around the world. Our goal is to educate people about how the disabled can lead normal lives.

Now that's what I call a dedicated Father!

So, to all you Father's out there, Happy Father's Day!

Blogger Draft, Testing Video!!!

Okay, I'm a HTML idiot, so if I can click on a button and presto a video appears on my blog, I will be in heaven! That's what Blogger draft promises, and you get a blue button instead of a red button, as a Conservative, I like that much better!! So, for my first video attempt, I have a really funny Bud commercial, I don't think they will mind the exposure.

That was easy, click the video button, browse for the video, upload it. The preview looks great, so please, someone let me know if you can see/run the video.

Pirates of the Atlantic!

This is too funny, even my hubby sent it to his family in PEI. He had it taped to the door for me to see when I got home from work, and believe me that's a first!

He loves the detail, down to the So'wester hat! The only thing missing is a bottle of screech, and a 24 of O'Keefe's.

CTV Smear Job On Loyola Hearn, Disgusting!

Okay, I watched Mike Duffy today and was totally disgusted by how low CTV went by posting poll results from Loyola Hearn's riding, taken just this week.

One question was do you intend to vote for Loyola Hearn. (Click on Mike Duffy Live, then click on NS Tory MP Gerald Keddy)Now, that's what is totally disgusting, the question wasn't, are you going to vote Conservative, Liberal, NDP etc. It was targeted DIRECTLY at Hearn. They did this with MP Keddy sitting there ready to be interviewed, what A&&Holes!

I think Richardson should be hauled over the coals for even showing this poll. What a lack of class, I thought it was bad when Duffy was replaced with Akin, but Richardson is so biased, even a Senator being interviewed commented on his bias the other day.

Look, report the news, report on the Conservative poll numbers, report on the leader's numbers, that's fair, but when you target one specific MP, that's biased, that just plain wrong. It's not news, it's a smear job.

SHAME on you CTV.

MSM Panting, Or Pantless?

I watched the vote on the budget, and let me tell you the MSM was panting, even orgasmic, thinking that MP Keddy would break ranks. When he didn't, they had nothing to rip the Conservatives about, they ended up pantless.

I want to thank MP Gerard Keddy for voting for the budget, he has a better chance working within the government than out of it, so, smart move. All the Conservative MP's from the Atlantic provinces should be proud. Let the MPP's and Premiers fight with the government, you are here to support Canada, not just your province. We already have one party that ONLY supports their province, and that's the Bloq, too bad it was their support that got the budget passed.

It did pass, now are the Liberals going to commit suicide? Will the Liberal senate block the budget? I don't think they have the balls, also the Ontario election is coming up, they don't want two elections back to back.

What really makes me mad is that the MSM is running the opposition, they are dictating the agenda, a clear example of that today in question period was a NDP MP blasting the government on how the announcement of land claims, wasn't enough. Minister Prentice, got up and reminded the NDP MP that, no announcement had been made yet. Where did she get her information? The MSM. They made up the news, before the news even happened. Worse, the MP's are quoting the MSM as the truth.

The MSM is throwing out lies and half truths, the opposition are treating them as real proof, and the average Canadian has tuned out.

So the MSM were waiting like vultures for MP Keddy to vote against the budget, when it didn't happen, they had nothing to bash the government with, except one MP who was kicked out, they forgot about the ex-Liberal MP that voted for the budget and also got booted out of the Liberal party. Hell MSM, we are not as dumb as you think we are, we watch you.

Last point, email MP Keddy, say thanks, as a matter of fact, email all Conservative Atlantic MP's and tell them thanks. Let them know that Conservatives appreciate one fact, that they shut the MSM up, they refused to give them anymore fodder. Remember that the MSM is made up of lefty organizations that want the Conservatives to fail, they NEED the Conservatives to fail. Not going to happen, Alberta, Ontario, BC, Man and Quebec Premiers need to step up and shout down Williams, they need to remember that have provinces are getting seriously ticked off with the whining have not provinces.

The MSM was panting, they were left pantless, it looks good on them.

Treason By Lefties!

I am totally disgusted by these anti-war groups, who think they are above the law.

"You can refuse to participate in this war," says the missive, mailed last week by four Quebec-based antiwar groups.

"Your deployment in Afghanistan means complicity with the civilian deaths and other activities. . . that are tantamount to war crimes."

It cites the potential for the torture of prisoners transferred by Canadian troops to their Afghan counterparts.

The letter blames media for marginalizing the "Afghani resistance" to foreign occupation as the work of the Taliban, and tells soldiers they will become "cannon fodder" in the war-torn region.

Is this treason? Here's a poll, seems over 65% believe that it is.

Is it treasonous to ask a soldier to refuse duty?

Yes 66%
No 21%
Only if a soldier actually endangers others by their action 14%

Total Votes for this Question: 1759

These groups should be brought before a judge, and made to explain why their letter is not treason.

Our proud soldiers should not have to put up with this garbage.

Here is proof that this letter is treason, found at a great site:

Punishment of seditious offences
62. (1) Every one who wilfully
(a) interferes with, impairs or influences the loyalty or discipline of a member of a force,
(b) publishes, edits, issues, circulates or distributes a writing that advises, counsels or urges insubordination, disloyalty, mutiny or refusal of duty by a member of a force, or
(c) advises, counsels, urges or in any manner causes insubordination, disloyalty, mutiny or refusal of duty by a member of a force,
is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years.

Write a letter to your paper, let them know that this is disgusting and groups like those are guilty of bad behaviour at the least, treason at the worst. Stop being the silent majority, start being the vocal majority, we have power in numbers, not only when we vote, but when we get behind an issue that deserves our attention, and this one deserves it.

A Survey Of One.

Okay, I'll admit that I am a politics junky, I find all the twists and turns of politics interesting. What is the average voter thinking though? That's why I conducted my survey of one, one husband that is, who puts politics right up there with watching paint dry.

Now, he's from the Atlantic provinces, PEI, so I thought he would be interested in what the Atlantic Accord means to the Maritimes. Nope, he talked about the better opportunities out here in the west for his siblings/cousins and he switched to the golf network.

Alrighty then, next question. How are the Conservatives doing? Fine, the country is still running okay.

What do you think about the Paris happenings? The parents should have raised her better, not given her so much. Okay, that wasn't really political, but he had flicked over to the news by then and I took the opportunity to scope out his thoughts on that issue. I agree with him, the parents by giving her too much, forgot to help her find some purpose in life. Back to politics.

Did calling Quebec a nation within Canada bother you? What, Quebec is a nation? I never noticed, I could care less, it doesn't affect me.

There are rumours that some Afghan detainees might have been tortured, does that concern you? Who cares, as long as our soldiers are doing their best.

What do you want to see in the next budget? Tax cuts.

Not wanting to push my luck, I asked one final question: Who will you vote for next election? Who ever you tell me to, Dear. HA, not really, he makes up his own mind, but I do push my preference.

Much as the opposition and MSM are making mountains out of nothing these days, the average voter is just not engaged. Believe me, my husband is a very typical voter. I couldn't even persuade him to join up for the provincial Conservative party to vote for a new leader to replace Klein. We saw Klein getting an award the other night and he did comment on the fact that he missed him running our province, and sadly I had to agree, I do miss Klein.

My survey of one, sure you might think it's biased, but it does point out one interesting thing, even with a wife who is politicially engaged, my husband could care less about politics. So, most Canadians are probably like my husband, won't become engaged in politics until there is an election called and will base their vote on the performance of the PM, more than anything else.

Coming To Alberta!

Okay, we've gone from global cooling to global warming to climate change (well duhhh, yes, our climate changes, sheesh) to polluters pay.

Quebec is going to tax major polluters and they think that the companies are going to just pay the tax, without passing it on to the consumer? Give your head a shake!

"Hopefully, the money collected will meet tangible measures, like research and development, and conservation," said Tony Macerollo, a vice-president at the institute.

I can't believe that such a socialist province thinks a carbon tax is a good thing, and I suspect that once they see a permanent hike in gas prices, they will not be so happy about taxing carbon, you know that stuff our plants love, and turn into oxygen. Now that Kyoto is dead, all this means is that Quebecois are paying more for gas without any benefits. Hello Quebec, fighting pollution is a great idea, but another tax, in your already heavily taxed province, not such a good idea.

Try limiting the power of your unions, they are forcing your youth to leave the province, in the hope of a good job, without having to know someone in a union. Thanks, here in Alberta, we really appreciate their help and skills.

It's interesting, Alberta is getting all the young people from other provinces coming here and setting down roots. My husband came out here from PEI more than 25 years ago, and he's still here (I like to think it's because of me, a prairie girl!). We have talked about moving to PEI, I love the island, but there are no jobs that come even close to matching what we have in Alberta.

So, go ahead, tax carbon Quebec, we await your sons and daughters, we will give them a good life. They might even learn to wear cowboy boots and eat perogies. Funny how the majority of immigrants are staying in Montreal and Toronto, and all the natural born Canadians are coming to Alberta.

It's Not Enough!!

Okay, I've had it with Bono/Geldof type whiners, they didn't even say thank you. They blamed Canada, the only G8 country actually on track to meet their aid commitment to Africa, what are those two smoking? Hey Bono, how about NO money for your cause?

Same goes for the environmentalists, it's never enough! 50% reduction by 2050, it's not enough.

Money for AIDS, it's not enough. 20 million more for the SOW's, it's not enough. Work 10 weeks get employment insurance for 40, it's not enough.

IT'S NEVER GOING TO BE ENOUGH!!

Here's a clue for activists, stop relying on government to fund your charity, go out and get ordinary people to contribute to your cause, stop sucking on the taxpayers teat, because that one has become infected with several contagious diseases, such as:

No, I will not write you a cheque,
Your administrative fees are too high,
Oil for food scam,
What dictator stole my money,
and my all time favorite and likely fatal disease.........

I don't care anymore.

Back In The Good Old Days....

I am constantly disgusted by what people buy as if it is real food.

Processed meats.
Salads in a bag.
Already made pizzas.
Microwave breakfasts, lunches, dinners.

Let's take a trip through the average grocery store. You walk in and there's the produce section:

You can buy organic vegetables, but they are more expensive, has anyone heard of washing their produce? Better yet, back in the good old days, people actually grew their own vegetables! My next door neighbour makes excuses to visit me when she sees that my peas are ready. I have now helped her plant some of her own peas, carrots and tomatoes. You only have a balcony? Well, cucumbers, tomatoes, herbs, and peas (on a trellis) do great in containers.

Next we go past the bakery, I have to admit that I usually only have time to bake cinnamon buns once in awhile, fresh bakery bread is great as no preservatives are used. Do not grab that bread that has a shelf life of 2 weeks or more, you can be guaranteed that they have added some chemicals to make it stay fresh for longer.

Next the meats, buy the family packs, go home and divide them up into one meal servings, freeze. Now, I know that in the old days they butchered their own meat, but this is just something I can not do, so I am happy to buy my meat, not having to do the actual killing first. If you can, kudos!

The freezer section has become the saviour of a whole generation. Kids need a snack, pizza pops; quick supper needed, TV dinners; need to lose weight, frozen lite meals; need breakfast, eggos; the list is endless. The only thing I buy from the freezer section, is ice cream.

Then we go up and down the aisles of endless canned/preserved goods, all I can say is read the labels, if you don't know what some of the ingredients are, be careful.

This is not to say that I don't buy canned goods, with our long winters, you need to buy some canned stuff.

We wonder why people are overweight? Fast food, even in the grocery store. Does anyone actually cook anymore, or is everything nuked?

Back in the good old days, people worked hard, but they also ate healthier. Nothing wrong with bacon and eggs in the morning, if you are going out into the fields all day. I have never used anything but butter, everyone told me how bad it was for my family, and lo and behold, now butter is healthy because it has no trans fats! HA.

So, what can you do?

Plant a veggie garden, or even some tomatoes in a container.
Visit your local farmers market.
Plant some strawberries, they do great in containers.
Cook at least one meal a day, most suppers only take 20-30 minutes.
Use natural ingredients if possible, butter is natural, margarine is not.
Pickle those cukes and beets.
Make your own pasta sauce, and freeze it.
Make your own baby food.
Use your microwave only to warm up leftovers, defrost the meat you forgot to take out in the morning, or pop some popcorn.

Just like you can recycle, reuse and compost, you can eat healthier, without the preservatives. Stay away from the fast foods, and stay away from the freezer section in your grocery store.

Go back to healthy eating, natural is best. Moderation works. Oh and garlic, how could I forget garlic? You want to stay healthy, garlic is a must. You might stink, but you won't care when everyone around you is coughing or getting the flu, and you aren't even sneezing.

"Attack" Polls!

I was over at Prairie Wrangler, and he has some valid questions about polls.

The problem I have with polls that suggests "Do you think Canada should abide by our Kyoto targets?", is likely the same as the problem Jeff would have with a question like "Do you want a tax cut?" - simply, it doesn't provide the requisite context, and the questions seem to suggest that we live in a consequence free fantasy land where our wildest dreams are only a poll question away! You like Kyoto? Sure I do! Do you pay too much tax? Damn right! Should the government both cut taxes in half and double health spending? Absolutely! Should the government buy you a brown or a white pony? A white pony! And so on.

The reason polls are done, mainly by the MSM, is that they are effective, just like attack ads, they work, therefore they can shift public opinion.

Right now we are being told by the MSM that we care more about the environment than health care. This is plainly untrue, no-one would put the environment before health care, but the polls tell us that we do, therefore, it must be true. They don't mention/release the polls that didn't go the way they wanted. How many polls are paid for but never released because they go the wrong way?

The MSM have figured out that "attack" polls are just as effective as "attack" ads, and they use them daily, check out any website for any paper, they all have a daily poll, funny how some of them disappear real quick, funny how you can't view the final results of many polls.

Attack polls are effective, they shape public opinion, ask the MSM!

Children At Play, Now That The Master Is Away!

Question period is so boring when PM Harper is not there. Peter Van Loan does a great job, but it's still more fun to watch when PM Harper gets up to answer the opposition questions, it's always like a cat playing with a mouse.

So, what are the opposition parties doing? Well, May of the Greens is telling us that a carbon tax is a great idea, because, well, because they will give it back as an income tax decrease, well, then why take it in the first place?

No tax is ever a good tax, none!

Then we had Dion out in the west, I think, I'm not sure but he might have even been in Alberta, why? Are his handlers idiots, what does Dion seriously think he can gain by coming to Alberta, reduce the vote from 70% to 60% here? Not likely.

The Bloq, want more money for festivals in Quebec, the budget isn't even passed but they already want the money, they keep on saying they need it now, not at the end of the summer when the program will be in place. They disgrace themselves constantly by demanding more money for Quebec.

The NDP, a nothing party, that has the pulse of no one in Canada, so they rate down there with the Greens. Send Layton to Afghanistan, let him talk to the troops, see some Taliban, see some little Afghan children that are being helped. Not going to happen.

PM Harper is way more respectable than any PM we have had in years, thank goodness Canada does not need to be embarrassed anymore by our leader. That's what the average Canadian is going to see, no matter how hard the MSM try to spin it.

The Ace Up PM Harper's Sleeve!

Well most media, environmentalists, and all the opposition parties are crying that Canada's environment plan is not tough enough and that it doesn't meet the Kyoto targets. They are already up in arms, even before the G8 Summit has started.

That's PM Harper's ace up his sleeve. He has already clearly stated that Canada can not meet it's Kyoto targets, he did it again in Germany today.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper told a German business audience Monday that Canada won't meet its Kyoto targets to lower greenhouse gas emissions, but can be a world leader in battling climate change.......

In an interview with CBC's chief political correspondent Keith Boag on Monday, Merkel said she's not pleased Canada has abandoned any attempt to meet its short-term Kyoto targets.

However, she did say she shares common ground with Harper on long-term targets, with both calling for significant reductions on greenhouse gases by 2050.

"Of course we are not happy at this point that Canada has abandoned Kyoto's goals. But Canada says it also sees the necessity to put in place long-term goals for reduction until the middle of the century," Merkel said in German.

"And when I said I wasn't happy Canada abandoned the Kyoto goals, I am equally encouraged that we can agree that, long term, we need to reduce emissions significantly."

Harper will also meet with France's new president, Nicolas Sarkozy, and French Prime Minister François Fillon on Tuesday before returning to Germany for the G8.

So, Merkel understands Canada's position, and is making nice. Why? What would happen if Canada actually did pull out of Kyoto, legally we still can, without paying any penalties. So, did Harper remind Merkel that Kyoto would die if Canada legally pulled out? Did he remind her that Canada is the only North American industrialized nation that has signed Kyoto, and if we pull out, they have NO chance of getting the US on line?

Article 27
1. At any time after three years from the date on which this Protocol has entered into force
for a Party, that Party may withdraw from this Protocol by giving written notification to the
Depositary.
2. Any such withdrawal shall take effect upon expiry of one year from the date of receipt by
the Depositary of the notification of withdrawal, or on such later date as may be specified in the
notification of withdrawal.
3. Any Party that withdraws from the Convention shall be considered as also having
withdrawn from this Protocol.

Looks like we have until Feb of 2008 to leave, legally!

Are the Europeans drooling thinking about carbon trading with the US? You bet they are, and you can bet that they will do anything they can to get the US on board, even making nice to Canada. Same message will be sent to Sarkozy, who is talking about penalties for those who don't meet their Kyoto targets. PM Harper just needs to remind him that we are legally able to get out of Kyoto, so France will get no money from us and no US agreement. Canada, Japan, Australia and the US can have their own, non-UN based pact.

PM Harper is there early getting the message out, then the US follows up on Wednesday, it's a one, two punch. If they get India and China on board, it's a knockout!

That's why the environmentalists are out in full cry, they aren't going to get what they want, and if the EU insists on hard targets, they are going to be going it alone. The opposition can whine all they want, but Canadians will see it as a great solution.

I wonder how many other aces PM Harper has up his sleeve?

G8 + 5 = Unlucky 13!

Why do they call it G8 + 5? Guess they don't like the sound of the G13. Anyways, the usual protesters are protesting, about what, who really cares, why don't they raise money for their causes, and go get something done.

Came out of the heat tonight and watched some of the clips associated with this article.

Just the usual blather about global warming, blah, blah, blah... but one thing I did notice was the lighting used by CTV for the segment "Question Period: Panel Discussion 9:04", click on it and see if you catch it. What's different about the lighting when it comes to the Conservative member? Who's all lit up and who isn't?

Do you see it? I see it. Then again, I might have just gotten too much sun today!

Beautiful Day, More Baskets Planted!

My garden is up, peas, cucumbers, potatoes, beans, carrots, and beets are all up, zuchinni, still not up, but my tomatoes are happy in 30 degree heat. Anyone want any green onion?

Our summers are so short that we need to enjoy every minute of great weather that we can, that's why I don't have an inspiring post about our latest poll, speaking of which, not one poll out this week, or just not one reported on? HUMMM, the Conservatives must be doing good.

Well, got to go scrub the dirt out from under my finger nails. Tomorrow, the golf clubs get dusted off, and I go to the driving range. You have to love summer!

Opposition Wants To Stay And Run The Country!

That's a quote by Sun media guy Weston on Don Newman's show Politics. Click on Friday, you can torture yourself watching the whole show, or just go to around 38:00 of the broaaaaaaadcast.

Why are all the Pundits Liberal? Why does the Liberal rag, Toronto Star get two reporters? Why can't the CBC even try to pretend that they are non-biased? Why do I even bother to watch that garbage?

Delacourt says the Liberals are going to bring down the government? Sure, them and who else? How could she even say that with a straight face? (I would say she can't smile because of her face lift, but it's obvious that she hasn't had one, or if she has, it was a bad job. Sorry, just my catty female remark, because she is so self righteous about knowing everything, she's in the public eye, so she is fair game!)

All those questions, and no answers.

I actually don't think Weston was too far off with his, "the opposition want to stay and run the country" remark. That's what they have been doing, in both the House of Commons and the Senate, the opposition has the upper hand, and they have been using it to damage Canada, Kyoto is a good example.

This minority is working for the opposition, they have the majority in committees and in the Senate, and they are using that majority to stop important legislation, like the age of consent from getting through Parliament. They are all lefties, so even though a formal pact has not been announced, that's what is happening. I'm amazed that the Conservatives have been able to get as many bills as they have passed. The only thing that saves them is that they control the purse strings.

So, any fool who actually thinks a minority government works, is just that, a fool.

The good thing is that the Conservatives have all summer to work hard and run the government without the interference of the opposition, who will be invisible in their riding's. So, many good things can happen for Canadians during the summer, and the Conservatives will have all their ammo ready by the fall. Delacourt was sneering about how the Conservatives have no ideas, and have run out of gas, I seriously think she's wrong. Well, okay, she's dumb, and wrong.

Back to Weston, why does he even work for the Sun? He's so Liberal, I bet he faints at the thought of interviewing Dion.

That's my anti-media rant for this glorious Friday, I'm going outside to battle some mosquitoes, they at least, are honest blood suckers.
