Money For Kyoto Or Health Care For Free?

So, our unelected, useless Senate has bowed down to the Kyoto God, about 6 months too late.

Even Sleeping Beauty woke up and had more of her wits about her than our Senators showed. She kissed the Prince, the Senators kissed the frog!! Ribbit!!
I emailed one of my Senators about this very bill, here's part of his reply:

Averting Climate Change needs to be an absolute priority of the Canadian Government. The world’s most reputable climate scientists agree that climate change is undoubtedly caused by human influence, and progressing at a potentially devastating rate. The harmful effects of climate change will be felt significantly in Canada , with our great Northern regions and extensive prairies.

Many leading economists, scientists and business leaders agree that there are only marginal costs in achieving the Kyoto targets relative to what inaction will cost. McKinsey and Company, a well respected management consulting firm, indicates that real, genuine action can be taken on climate change without putting undue stress on the economy. The firm recently released a report concluding that the global cost for making the needed emissions reductions to avoid increased climate change in 2030 is only 0.6% of that year’s projected GDP. Furthermore the former Chief Economist and Senior Vice-President to the World Bank, Sir Nicholas Stern, revealed in his report to the UK government that the costs of ‘business as usual’ will be far greater than the costs associated with acting on climate change. He indicated that climate change could shrink the global economy by an incredible 20% whereas taking action now would only cost 1% of global GDP. Canada can afford take immediate action on climate change and indeed we must.

First off, "averting climate change", HELLO, climate changes, you can not AVERT it.

Second, "Many leading economists, scientists and business leaders agree that there are only marginal costs in achieving the Kyoto targets relative to what inaction will cost." Marginal costs, have any of these leading leaders explained to you that, marginal means, the next unit, so what they are saying is that there are only COSTS involved with fighting climate change, no BENEFITS! DUHHH!

Third: "real, genuine action can be taken on climate change without putting undue stress on the economy." How? If that was possible, why didn't the Liberals do that a decade ago? So, what "real genuine action" are you recommending Mr. Senator? Kyoto, that money sucking scheme, that transfers wealth from developed countries to Mo Strong hiding out in China? That genuine action? HA

I won't tell you what amazingly ill informed Senator this is, but if you look at what province I'm from, you should be able to figure it out without my help. This guy still quotes Stern? Does he think I'm an idiot, that I can't read, or is he just so arrogant that he thinks he knows best? Most important, this Liberal Senator feels that "Canada can afford (to) take immediate action".

So, I ask you, money for Kyoto or health care for free?. Why is that song, Money for nothing and chicks for free, playing through my head?

It's difficult to effect climate change when we have no control over what the rest of the planet does.
