What CTV Failed To Cover!

The MSM is busy supporting the Liberals, so much so that they showed only what was favorable to the opposition during Question Period. I just happened to capture Lisa in a huge smack down of Goodale. Of course the MSM didn't show this, so make sure you watch Goodale getting his due. Hiding behind her skirts...it would be funny if it wasn't so serious.

And, for all you lefties japping about Lisa being insensitive towards cancer patients, her brother Colin MacCormack, died at 37 because of lung cancer. YOU STUPID LEFTY JERKS!

I want every MP in Parliament to stand up and apologize to her for their insensitivity towards her brother, a cancer victim. I want every journalist who condemned her, to write an article about how punishing it must have been for her to lose her brother to cancer.

How rewarding it must be for her to think that she can help other cancer victims, by getting the 57 year old Chalk River reactor back up and running. No wonder she thought it was challenging.

You sick little opportunists, making her a target of your own failures. Goodale failed to get the Maple reactors running, and he stands in the house and condemns Lisa for trying to fix what the Liberals were unable to do in over 13 years?

PM Harper was right, it is cheap politics, but that is the only type of politics the Liberals/NDP/Bloc know. The MSM is just as responsible for this mess. CTV was more interested in a "got you" story than ethics. They knew that they had to be careful, that's why they consulted their lawyers.

Apologize? The opposition needs to apologize to Lisa, for the smear job. Funny how the incompetent aide has been lost in the feeding frenzy that is the opposition. What would her Liberal fund raising Father say, if the lazy, slack a$$ reporters even bothered to hunt him down and ask him a question.

Lisa did nothing wrong. Her aide lost a "secret" file at CTV, and now we find out she lost a tape in a bathroom. She is the problem, but not one reporter is interviewing her, is that because Iggy thinks a 27 year old is too tender to be fired? In Alberta this week a 14 year old killed two people, randomly, but a 27 year old doesn't understand that one of her responsibilities is keeping track of a binder and a tape?

For $120,000 plus pension, I would like to apply for the communications job that has just been vacated, I can attest to the fact that I am a Conservative, and I know how to keep track of documents.

I seem to have missed the part where any MP has been commenting on Ms. Raitt's brother.

Oh, wait... did I interrupt and emotional attempt to conflate her brother's death with criticism of Ms. Raitt's "sexy" comments? My bad.

Fortunately, no one has referred to Colin MacCormack's plight as a "sexy" opportunity to make a name for themselves. That sort of thing would indeed be indicative of a "sick little opportunist". Know anyone who's done something like that lately?

Bec said...

Anyone that is current enough in today's casual lingo and uses, "my bad" also knows how the term "sexy" is being used.

When the MP's generalize and speak about cancer as though they SPEAK for all cancer victims, that is opportunistic. It suggests that she was callous about the disease and what Hunter is pointing out is that Minister Raitt, had no such intentions.
In fact, this information was dug up by good research, not Minister Raitt speaking of her own personal pain and so far, good journalism is hard to find because it has not been widely reported by the regulars in the pirahna tank.

As for the aid being hired, she was already in the department. Minister Raitt, inherited her.

I just wish we had "one reporter" who would write an article such as this.... This is the first time, I ever heard of the Minister's brother. I have turned CTV NewsNet off - I was sick and tired of hearing Bob Fife's 5 minute blurps for his liberal party over and over... I am outraged that the reporters have given this dear little "Aid" such a free trip. There is far more to this story than has been reported, and no way, would a daughter of a highly connected liberal "big shot" be as innocent as she has been protrayed by the liberal media. If they were at all anxious to find out the truth, this dear little liberal aid would be front and center....

SQ, have you even listened to the tape?
The word 'sexy' is not used anywhere near the context, in which you suggest.
It is used to describe the 'challenge' of getting Chalk River etc up to snuff. The ENTIRE picture is what you are dismissing.
Including the simple fact that 2 women are having a private, gab fest, brainstorming, all the while trying to get to know each other. This is JANUARY 30th. There was NO isotope shortage or crisis. This was about the facility and it's challenges.

Btw, what does the end of your post suggest? I'm sure it is intended as a huge compliment, right?

People go read:

But nuclear-medicine specialists are questioning why AECL and the government walked away from the project without a contingency plan.

Robert Atcher, the New Mexico-based president of the Society of Nuclear Medicine, said doctors are asking “Well, they've built the infrastructure, why don't they consider using some other reactor design?”

A committee struck by the U.S. National Research Council to examine ways of producing medical isotopes without highly enriched uranium – which the Americans fear could be used to build bombs – suggested in a recent report using a different kind of core for the Maples.

Thomas Ruth, a senior research scientist at the British Columbia Cancer Agency and TRIUMF – Canada's National Laboratory for Particle and Nuclear Physics – was also a member of that committee. He said the decision to walk away from the Maples was probably tied to political and business issues.

“To the non-expert, it looks like a solution,” Dr. Ruth said yesterday of the committee's recommendation to use different cores.

“They have the processing facility, they have the control room, the infrastructure is all there. What is involved with changing out the core? ... But government is supporting [AECL] in that decision. It's not like government is saying, ‘Hey, guys, get in there, fix it, find a solution.' They're not doing that.”

Hate to break this to you Bec, but the criticisms of Raitt are partly based on the way she used the term "sexy". We all know the context. It is just that she seemed so delighted in the way this issue would be sexy enough for media coverage which would, in turn, assist her career.

As for this:

"When the MP's generalize and speak about cancer as though they SPEAK for all cancer victims, that is opportunistic."

would you say the same about government MP's who purport to speak for ALL families with children, or ALL victims of crime?

Where are the government's priorities? Let's have at it and actually fix a few things up. Some people think it can be done. Why not enable them to do their work instead of playing partisan games? Absolutely not - that would be wonderful - as soon as you and your ilk quit screaming about how "wonderful" the Canadian Health Care system is and how "American Style" health care is the CPC agenda; maybe we could actually investigate a health care system that works.

Here's a question Mysty....if you got a life threatening illness and had the option of standing in line at the Canadian clinic or paying to go to the US (or any one of the "private" clinics that do not exist (shhh...don't tell)in Canada, what would you do? Be honest now.

How is this relevant? But ok - Can labourers who manufacture auto parts not retrofit a couple of reactors?

Surely a Conservative "investigation on a health care system that works" can't depend on whether or not I and my ilk are screaming or not. The idea that if I would only be quiet, the conserves would solve all my problems to my delightful satisfaction is quite a doozy.

Re:'Here's a question Mysty....if you got a life threatening illness and had the option of standing in line at the Canadian clinic or paying to go to the US (or any one of the "private" clinics that do not exist (shhh...don't tell)in Canada, what would you do? Be honest now.

Well, absolutely you are way rounder at the free end than I am so you are the obtuse one. I'm Canadian. I pay taxes and if I get sick I want my taxes to facilitate my treatment here in Canada.

As it stands our HMPMSH government is standing there saying "Oh darn, it's broke maybe someone who needs a junker will buy it."

Right now HMPMSH's people don't even appear very concerned about the isotopes they supply to the rest of the world. Not worried about setting back the practise of nuclear medicine worldwide? What were they giving those isotopes away for chump change?

In 1993, I had a manager ask me to make a boring document "sexy" by invigorating the dialogue and doing some formatting to make it read and look "sexy". I know it's a commonly-used terms although I think it's a bit dumb. But, it is in no way a disrespect. Anybody who tries to make the use of the word to be a disrespect in this context is just blowing smoke.

Let's see: "lame" is commonly used and that could be construed as a disrespect of mobility-impaired people. "Gay" is used as a sub for "lame" so that could be hitting two groups in our society at the same time. We used to call great things "bad" or "phat". Get with the programs, all of you scandal seekers.

http://money.aol.ca/article/harper-government-to-sell-aecl-reactor-business/633982/

"Natural Resources Minister Lisa Raitt said Thursday that AECL is being put on the block in response to a National Bank report commissioned to examine whether all or part of the Crown company should be privatized.

A summary of the bank's report, prepared by the Natural Resources Department, says AECL's reactor business should be spun off from its research division.

"The review's analysis revealed a corporation trying to manage two divisions with very different objectives and subsequently different measures of success and different needs," the summary says.

"One division is profit-oriented. To succeed it requires a market savvy management approach and access to risk capital.

"The business of the other is research and technology development and while it has commercial opportunities, these have not been a primary motivator for its work."

The department's summary says while National Bank found "significant private sector interest" in AECL's reactor business, few companies wanted to buy the aging Chalk River facility, though there were firms interested in running it.

The government accepted the recommendations.

We are now moving forward with restructuring the corporation," Raitt said.

Investment bank N.M. Rothschild & Sons has been hired to come up with a restructuring plan and give financial advice. Ottawa has also brought on David Leith, the former deputy chairman of CIBC World Markets, as an adviser.

"We anticipate that the bulk of the work will be taken over the summer for Rothschild and for Mr. Leith, and that we'll be having reports coming in to us some time in the fall," Raitt said.

Sounds like they will be looking to restructure to me?

Anonymous said...

From your link:

" The Harper government plans to put Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd.'s nuclear reactor business up for sale... part of a major restructuring that will also mean private-sector management for AECL's Chalk River research facility, which makes the medical isotopes used in diagnostic scans."
