Bloc Shows It's Distain For Canada!

I loved all the athletes, they showed their pride in Canada, and were proud to watch the maple leaf fly high for them and our country. During the Olympics, the medals were for Canada, not any specific province within Canada. All athletes competed for Canada and showed their pride, whether they won a medal or not, all were united, and this united our country like no other time I can remember. It was heartwarming and showed the world how special Canada really is.

On the first day that parliament was back in action, the opposition were heckling and yelling just like they were doing before Christmas. It appears that nothing has changed with our MP's, and that again nothing will get done because of petty partisan bickering and one-up-man-ship. Did we really expect anything different?

What really steamed me was when the flame for the Paralympics was carried into the chambers and "Oh Canada" was sung, the Bloc refused to sing our national anthem. They stood there like robots, refusing to clap for our country and our athletes. I am sure that the Quebec athletes who won gold and sang our anthem are embarrassed by what the Bloc did.

Canadian athletes were embraced by all Canadians, we didn't care what province the athlete was from, we saw all of them as holders of our hearts and hopes, and boy did they deliver! Too bad the Bloc couldn't join in with the rest of the country. They look petty and pointless in this patriotic post-Olympic atmosphere.

The news should not be about how we might get a gender neutral version of "Oh Canada", the news should be about the Bloc MP's who refuse to stand up for Quebec athletes, and Canada. Their day is done. They are irrelevant. Quebec voters need to realize that a majority for the Conservatives is possible without Quebec being the deciding province. So do they want to continue voting in a separatist party that will never gain power, or vote for any of the other parties to actually get something done for Quebec?

Our nation has been joined by the Olympics, it's time for Quebec to join us, not just in the spirit of the Olympics, but everyday.

This is nuts! I saw a number of Quebecois athletes proudly singing our anthem at the Olympics. It is an even greater insult that the Bloc boycotted our paralympians. Yes, let's boycott the handicapped, that should win votes.

But threaten cutting funding to arts programs nobody watches, and all Hell has broken loose...

That reminds me of, I think it was the Olympics in Seoul Korea, when the then leader of the Bloq Heads (And I don't give a $hit who it was) complained that there were not enough Quebec Flags around and too many Canadian flags. I wish we could kick the SOB's out, and let them attain third world status for a year or two and have them come back on their knee's. They have no idea how good they have it.

It is my understanding the Bloc MP's skip the opening of Parliament (singing our national anthem)

It is NOT their anthem after all and athletes who won gold won them on behalf of Canada.

The Bloc always refer to Canada and Quebec as equal nations.

Our media, opposition parties made their deal with the Bloc in 2008.

The voters have already been pushing back on that isolationist position.

And this action after all the complaints there was not enough french in the opening.

Quebec is a parasite. It's lavish social programs are funded on the backs of the productive members of Confederation. It's time to kick this lazy bird out of the nest.

Another little incident to file in the back of our minds for the day when Bloc push the envelope too far and the rest of Canada turns on them in a rage of "get lost"!

As for the proposed changes to the Canadian anthem, I (an old western Canadian Reformer) said to my wife during the Olympics that there s/b 1 version of the song with both English and French verses (maybe even some First Nations too) and not 2 versions.

Eh EsQue

Trouble getting on BLY, but the Bloc sure had a different story today in QP, praising all the Quebec medal winners etc.
Jennings and Bennett could have used more vacation time, they are still angry today, right where they left off last December.

Type Demon strikes again! It's "disdain" not "distain."

I totally agree with you with the disrespect shown by the block. If the anthem of any country is sung, people of other countries show their respect, but the Bloc can't show respect for the country that signs their paychecks?

Hey, if they hate Canada so much, they're free to turn down their government paychecks, equalization payments and all other forms of government largesse. They're also free to go live in whatever country they prefer. We're not forcing them to live someplace they hate.

Quebecors and the Bloc party just love to be different. They seem to be unaware that their childishness makes them come across as hugely stupid.

On another note, I am going through withdrawals as no more Olympic events any more. Wish they had lasted for some more weeks. :} :}

Maybe the government can pass a tri-partisan law stating that to remain a legitimate party in Canada you must field candidates in all 10 provinces and 3 territories. If you can't then you are not able to sit in the HoC. In other words, Go F**K yourselves, BQ, PQ and any Quebecor that is not happy to be Canadian.
