Craig Oliver Plays The Owl!

CTV's Craig Oliver goes on the attack, sort of....

Oliver looks like an owl with his glasses, and he was very confrontational towards Minister Day. I don't know if he thought he was scoring points but he came across as just plain rude. Minister Day calmly answered his questions and made Oliver look like a fool.

The supposedly big scandal of the day is that Flaherty used a government plane. Okay, am I wrong in thinking that they are the government? Government plane, government Minister? Whatever. We know that the gossip channel likes gossip. They are also very Toronto centric. Has anyone told them that we have a whole country that votes? Oh, never mind, westerners will just go on supporting the rest of Canada even though we get the shaft for being productive. Imagine what Alberta could do with 8 billion more dollars a year! Even with a recession, Edmonton has a surplus, how about Toronto? Right, thought not.

Interesting that the best movie of the year, Hurt Locker, is one about the military and war, while Avatar which is supposedly about the environment, lost. Is Hollywood waking up or are they just making up for being burned by giving Gore an academy award for his environmental garbage film?

Final note: to the US, you can keep Khadr, we really don't want him back. Seriously! Don't punish us because our hockey teams, of both genders, beat your teams for Olympic gold.

For someone who admits, even brags, that they don't ever, EVER go to Lefty sight, you sure spend a lot of time at the CTV sight...

Craig Oliver does not need any help at all to be made to look like a fool... he is completely capable of doing so all by himself.
The TV automatically gets switched whenever he appears... can't stand the insipid fossil.

I use to enjoy "Question Period" - but when Jane Tabor, Oliver and Jim Travers turned it into Conservative bashing time - I haven't watched it in months.... If the rest of us would not turn it on - their ratings would go down - and maybe CTV would have to do something about it.... When Jane Tabor was shown giggling with Sheile Copps about ganging up on their Torie guest while the camera was still rolling... that did it for me.... Report the facts, we don't need liberal spin with every topic.... we are smart enough to figure out what we want ourselves and all their positive reports for their American leader hsn't paid off that much....

I smacked down the CBC for their disgusting behavior at the OPCP AGM convention, enlightened the SOB's that television was in it's death throes. Fellow delegates later came up to me to congratulate my take down of CBC. I was informed by the delegates that I called them "fecking arse hole bastards"........oh well they deserved it.

" ... Craig Oliver was one of the closest people to Pierre Trudeau, and used to go on annual canoe trips with him ..." ... so you know where he sides.

Oliver is bitter because the Liberals lost the last election and with that loss , his dream of a Senate appointment vanished.

During the CTV coverage of the last election Oliver was visibly bitter at the Liberal loss.

... just more of the CTV Liberal bias.

Perhaps the media after losing the perogie battle, are regrouping for smaller indirect attacks.

Ignoring the fourth quarter results, the strong dollar, and the good news illustrates the Tabloid TMZ style of our mainstream news.

They look for negatives, scandals to get ratings instead of reporting a balance of news with facts.

As a bonus - Sunday's Question Period also brought some "reality" to Jane Taber as she was squared off and told point blank about the Learjet travel question.
She quickly changed the subject after she was outted.
I like it when a plan comes into focus and slaps your own face. Looks good on her.

SQ,

When is Quebec going to default? It has been a welfare province over a decade, are you not ashamed being a sponge?

Robbing NFLD of their hydro royalties?

Attacking minorities on language?

The last exodus from Quebec a great deal of wealth left, looks like another is on the horizon as the xenopobic bloggers like SQ demand billions more in payoffs for their failed ponzi schemes.

No inquiry into Pension Fund? Pity

Not only can they keep Khdar, it looks like that Albertan in a Montana jail for the last 28 yrs will finally meet his maker. Last appeal turned down. Too bad the natives he killed have been dead for 28 yrs. This appeal business has to be shortened. What has it cost to keep this man in jail for 28 yrs, and who paid his lawyers.

EsQue ... I'm confused by your use of the term "sight". Is it to sight the site?

Just asking ... no offence intended

Only watch CTV's Canada AM (until they interview Taliban Jack) and the local 6pm news package from CTV Vancouver. Other than the Olympics I can do without CTV.

I would love, if just once, Owliver, Giggles, Clark, Fife etc, addressed these observations from a rather large segment of the population on one of these blogs.

I would love, if CTV made any of us feel that we were being heard by either addressing our complaints or demonstrating that they get it, with actions.

I become increasingly frustrated when I read these frustrations voiced by viewers but they continue to support the programming.
Sometimes, actions do indeed speak louder than words and it is clear that CTV has NO interest in providing a non partisan political agenda.

IF we want them to suffer and hurt, we have the power to do that with intense and specific ACTIONS but it's not enough to talk about it.

I believe Conservatives are far more engaged in their country and politics than anyone that supports the left so we can let them have it if we so choose.

Until then, we remain putty in their hands.

S Trou de Q: a "sight". Better learn to discern the difference between 'sight', 'site', and even 'cite'. You're such a sanctimonious twit and here you are, misusing the word. Twit.

Canadiansense, lumpen for lumpen, I have seen more sorry cases of wretched human beings on the streets of Toronto, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Hamilton than I have witnessed in Montreal or Quebec city.

When are you blogging tories going to get it into your skull that Reform Party days are over, and that Quebec-bashing exercises only serve to narrow the Conservative Party mandate, not broaden it.

As for the bit on "minorities", apparently you are referring to language services and government services offered to immigrants. Strange that I don't recall optional choices in language instructions being offered to immigrants in Toronto and Vancouver, language training by default is in English.

Get down off your high horse, I recall growing up as a francophone on the prairies, there was little publicly funded "minority" language instruction, what was available was privately funded French language instruction weekends with the local Catholic Church.

Yes, multiculturalism is a wondrous thing when the purpose is to weaken or diminish Quebec's cultural integrity, a noble goal in and of itself, preferably followed by the breakup of the country, it only becomes a wretched Trudeau curse when it threatens the cultural integrity of the rest of Canada

Dumpar,

"I have seen more sorry cases of wretched human beings on the streets of Toronto, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Hamilton than I have witnessed in Montreal or Quebec city."
A)So you admit the Paul Martin cuts to health and social service were devasting
B) Liberal-NDP tax and spend councils in large cities, Mayors for decades have failed to help the poor even though our taxes have gone up every year for a decade.

Did you enjoy watching David Millar's photo op and use of taxpayers money for COP15?

Next you complain how large city services are not available in your area of birth?

a) I don't have an AIRPORT in my city, I am force to drive to a larger city to get those services, the horror!

If you want your socialist agenda, win the election and raise taxes. Quebec is a failed province unwilling to be fiscally responsible and needs to be reigned in like Greece.

It is time they start unwinding and punishing the have not provinces including Ontario.

Hunter - I watch very little CBC. If I want some news, I will consciously switch to CTV instead of CBC. CBC has always managed to make my blood boil within a few minutes.

BTW, today while flipping through channels, it was either the CBC or CTV that shafted Alberta again with another criticism. This time they said something about "women in Alberta paid much less than men"

The media is out to get you guys. Either it is the oil sands or excess drilling or something or the other.

Southern Quebec - did you mean to say Lefty "site" or "sight" ?

Just bringing it up as I like to do what lefties love to do ... point out mistakes.

That felt good :} :}
