McGuinty Gets Smacked Down By Pierre!

You might have seen the Hansard on some blogs, but you have not seen it live from the floor of the House. This is one of the best smack downs I have ever seen, too bad the MSM failed to cover this. I thought Ann Coulter was ALL the rage with them, guess not when their lefty friends get verbally smacked.

Pierre Poilievre absolutely demolished McGuinty in this exchange.

Watch Mark Holland, he is not too happy about the whole exchange. Is he starting to realize how lame the Liberals really are? He was a star with Dion, not so much with Iggy.

I understand that MP's have some sort of immunity in Parliament, but that was established in the old days before TV cameras reported everything in Question Period. This immunity junk has to stop. Any MP can make outrageous statements and they can not be held accountable, but the MSM can then use what they said without worry of prosecution.

So McGuinty can get up and slander Ann Coulter without any fear of prosecution. What he spouted was just as bad as anything Ann Coulter has ever said, but Parliament protects him.

Great job Pierre! I love your style of delivering body blows to the opposition!

That was a true classic. I must have replayed it 5 times. Did anybody notice one very important thing. McGuinty read from a script and miscued his verbal expressions of emotion while Poilievre spoke without a script? McGuinty looked like a junior high kid trying out for the school play while Poilievre was polished, able to think on his feet, and extremely effective in tearing apart the feeble Liberal attempt to divert our attention from their obvious lack of ability to govern.

Thank you so much for posting that video, Hunter. It made my day.

I'm going off on a tangent here, but there's a few things I would change about Question Period, and about House proceedings in general.

• The sham addressing of questions to people who are not in the House.
Every time the PM is not there, usually Mondays or Fridays because the PM is away at some international conference or in some Canadian city, the members of the opposition rise and intone "Will the Prime Minister rise and ... blah blah blah ..." The opposition thus creates the impression (in audio clips) that the PM is not answering those questions.

• Given that some MPs must travel great distances back to their constituencies, why not cut back on the number of days for QP? Cut QP back to Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays only.
Mind you, that means that amusing clips like the one you present here would be less frequent.

• Rather than an afternoon QP, why not start off the House day with QP at 10:00 am? That way, the rest of the day can be used for committee meetings or other work.

• Cut out the false "debates." Anyone watching House proceedings would know that debates are poorly attended, with MPs moving to seats that are within camera range, to give the impression they are listening to one of their own read off the party's position.

• And talking about camera range ... even some Conservatives can be seen talking and joking with their seat mates when the PM or a Minister stands up to answer a question. Should they not be listening, or at least pretend they're doing so?

Powell: sorry to correct you. Dalton is not an idiot. Rather, Dalton is a liar, thief, slime-ball, evil cat-eater from outer space...but he is not an idiot. That role is completely the domain of his widdle bwudder David.
