Iggy Does Not Support Tax Cuts For Us!

Well, first he supported them, then he didn't, now he does but only for low income earners, not everyone. Or, I think that's what he is saying, but the guy is harder to understand than Dion was, and that's actually scary.

Ignatieff, in Montreal for consultations with union and business leaders, wants the budget to target tax cuts towards Canada's lowest income earners instead of across-the-board reductions.

All righty then, how much do us taxpayers pay to JUST the federal government in taxes?

YIKES!!! 47% of federal government revenues are from us, and Iggy doesn't want us to get a tax break?? How about those corporations like GM who want taxpayer bailouts?? How much do they contribute to federal revenues?

That can't be right, only 16%? Now remember, this is only federal revenues, not provincial or municipal. Also remember that there is only ONE taxpayer, us. You know those 16% taxes the businesses pay, think about it, they only pay taxes if they are profitable, and we make them profitable with our after tax money! That's right, you paid that 16% in business taxes to the federal government, meaning we are already up to 63% of all federal taxes paid. At least we get some sort of good or service from the businesses with our money, what does the government produce that we can buy? That's the problem, we have no say how they spend our money, except with our vote. The coalition wants to take that one small "right" we have away from us.

Now, add in your provincial and municipal taxes and maybe you can start to understand why you deserve a tax break. Add in all those fees, licenses and charges, plus don't forget the GST, and your pocketbook has been picked, by the biggest criminals of all, government.

Iggy needs to get out more, not with the latte sipping Toronto elites, but with the average taxpayer, who contributes more than their fair share toward this country.

We, the taxpayer, are the ones who need some relief, or we won't be buying from those businesses, and government revenues will decrease from both personal and business taxes. Never hit Liberals with facts though, they can't handle the truth.

The lowest wage earners dont pay any (much) taxes so how is Iggy going to give them any relieve? send them a cheque? or maybe dare I say it, cut the GST

I'm not an economist but they are not even agreeing, during this unprecedented time. However I know enough to recognize that the middle incomers are the major consumer and tax payer.
I don't disagree with assisting low income earners but they pay little or no tax. How would that shake up the confidence, in the morale of the largest purchasers?

When I heard that Iggiasm, had no economic background, did not invest or understand the markets I thought, where does he get the unmitigated gall, to even comment?

I am not happy about any of this nor are you. I would have loved to see the budget, without the socialism.
The 3 bandits will show outrage and disgust and then in the privacy of their lair, clink glasses, tip back a latte and claim success.
In fact Duceppe, is looking like he achieved exactly what he wanted but that is for another day.

Warning to all tax filers in the coming days. Your refund will probably be less than last year but think again. Check the amt paid during the year against last years amt. If you have the same in the income box, you paid less therefore less to get back.
If you got a raise you will notice that you probably had more tax deducted.
It will not be because the government is gouging you.
Thought I would throw that out there before all the trolls have a hissy fit.

Which suggests to me that all of these (unrestricted) corporate tax cuts were completely idiotic to begin with. It was stupid conservative policy that led to this imbalance.

Well, MaryT - this is what we get for not voting Dion. After all, his Green Shift promised MASSIVE income tax cuts. Not just any income tax cuts, but MASSIVE income tax cuts. Of course, the equal tax burden (it was revenue neutral, remember) was a mere pittance. Don't you just love left wing math?

I'm always reminded of the story of the 6 school friends going for lunch each Friday where they split up the check fairly by their available income...

The richest guy pays $30 covering some of his friends who are less well off and it breaks down from there to the poorest couple only paying a couple bucks each...

30, 20, 10, 5, 2, and 2

Then one day the lowest 2 guy's in the chain decide they want to eat for free...after all it's not too much to ask the rich guy to buy their lunch...

But the rich guy gets pissed off and stops coming...leaving Mr $20, Mr $10, and Mr $5 to cover the tab...picking up an extra $10 each for the loss of Mr $30 at the table...needless to say, there's no free lunch...

The moral of the story being, people treated fairly, will willingly pay more then their fair share but if you think you can continue to push the middle class for a free lunch, think again!
