I go to my local Sobey's to buy some milk, eggs and whatever, and as I am checking out, the clerk starts to tell me how there is a huge movement for anyone but Wildrose. He also tells me that they are shutting down the provincial museum (LIE). You can imagine my shock at a clerk in a grocery store telling me how to vote. I told my candidate about my encounter, and he phoned up the manager, who couldn't believe anyone in his store would have said that, well, I couldn't believe it either, but it happened.
That is how vicious this campaigne has gotten because of the way the PC's are running their campaigne. It's sad really. I have voted PC all my life, because I felt they were the one party that could best understand Alberta. That has now changed, they are using Liberal tactics of smears and lying to try and keep PC votes. How dumb is that? Smearing the very people who vote for them. I guess their Toronto advisers don't quite understand Alberta.
Out door knocking today, one guy raking his lawn admitted that he had already voted PC, but he was really nice to our candidate, wishing him luck, and excited that finally there would be a strong opposition to hold the PC's in check. If the worse outcome for the Wildrose is as a strong opposition, I will be happy with that.
From what I saw at the door, I'm thinking the Wildrose will not be the opposition, but the government, and this is in Edmonton remember. We had people who saw the campaigne truck and came out of their houses, before we had even knocked on their doors, they wanted to talk to our candidate. One single Mom was going to vote for Wildrose because she thought that a voucher system for her children's education was the best way to go.
People knew the issues, they have been reading the literature, going to the candidates meetings and thinking hard about what direction they want Alberta to go. We got a lot of comments about "it's time for a change". People are upbeat and excited about this election, well except for the NDP, they are the most likely to slam the door in your face, tolerant as per usual. HA!
I am hoping my candidate wins, but if he doesn't, he knows that he did everything he could to win it. So did all the other candidates in the riding, except for the NDP and Evergreen, all they did was show up for the candidates meeting. The Evergreen guy couldn't understand why he kept getting booed when he talked about "dirty" oil...in an Alberta election. DUH!
Good luck to all candidates, it's not an easy thing to put your name up to run in an election. It's not their fault that the media thinks they are king makers or breakers. Most of them are good people who care about Alberta, and so are the voters.
May the best people win, and represent us wisely and truthfully.

Peak To Soon, Or Is A Dynasty Falling?
Right out of the gate, polls have been showing a rise for the Wildrose. Is the same thing that happened with the federal Conservatives going to happen to the Wildrose? Will voters get scared that they might actually win the election?
Not happening so far. Last week the polls indicated that the Wildrose was leading by a few points, give or take the margin of error. Then other polls came out with leads of 7, 9 or 13 points. Did that scare the voters? It appears not, because now we have a new poll that gives the Wildrose a 17 point lead.
The winds of change are blowing a blizzard into Alberta (tomorrow YUCK) and it is going to sweep out all the old and tired PC MLA's and bring us a new and brighter future, especially for our children, and grand kids.

Here are the other highlights:Stop and think about this for a minute. 50% of voters in Calgary will vote for Wildrose....50% meaning half the people in Calgary are going to vote for one party, when at least 6 are running. It gets better with the rural voters, 51.9% and climbing. There was no decrease indicating that Albertans are getting scared and backing off of voting for Wildrose. The polls are showing them increasing. Is it a done deal? I think so. People who are wavering, will see the way the wind is blowing and jump on the bandwagon...well except for Edmonton voters, they prefer to elect opposition MLA's. They think they are hip little Toronto like voters, bless them and their delusions, they will be left out in the cold again.
- Wildrose would take 45.5% of the popular vote if an election were held today
- PCs at 28.4%
- gap closing in Edmonton, expanding in Calgary and rural areas
- Wildrose 50.0% in Calgary, 28.1% in Edmonton, and 51.9% in the rest of Alberta

Alberta, Vote Smart.
Alberta is gripped by a true ABC campaigne, not the fake one that Danny Williams tried to start. It's really exciting times here in Alberta. Spring cleaning is under way.
I know that we are only in week 2 of the campaigne, and anything can happen before we go to the polls, but it is looking good for the Wildrose.
I have noticed a funny lack of signs this election. I drive through Rachel Notley's area everyday on the way to work, and all I see are her signs. Not one single Liberal, PC or Wildrose sign to be seen. Something fishy going on?
I think what is happening is that PC and Wildrose supporters are not taking signs this election, either because they are still undecided or because they do not want their neighbours to know how they are voting.
This leads me to believe that many former PC voters and even Liberals are now going to vote Wildrose. Silence on the sign front makes it harder to tell who will win the riding, so it is making this election fun.
I know all the polls coming out are favourable to the Wildrose, and I hope that continues. Remember when the media would show polls showing the federal Conservatives winning, and then the next poll would show people backing off? Is that what is going on now in Alberta? Are the media hoping that we see the Wildrose winning, maybe a majority, and hoping that it will scare voters back to the PC's?
Funny media, Albertans don't scare easily. We are not like Ontario voters who re-elected McGuinty for a third time, FOR NO GOOD REASON. None. Give me one positive reason why Ontario voted for McGuinty after he turned the province into a "have not" province for the first time in Ontario's history. Just one valid, economic reason, just one.
Why are the media suddenly backing the PC's? They never have before, and I bet if it looked like the Liberals would win the election they would be jumping all over themselves with positive day and night Liberal party coverage. Media, digging themselves into early retirement.
Someone at work commented to me today that they would vote for the candidate that is in second place in his riding, no matter which party, as long as it wasn't the PC's. A true ABC campaigne is happening in Alberta, and the results might be startling.

Two more polls have been released over the last few days, confirming that Wildrose holds a substantial lead over the Progressive Conservatives. Accordingly, Wildrose is now projected to win 44 seats and a slim majority government.

Danielle Dollars....Smart Move?
Is this a Conservative plan? You bet it is, and after thinking about it, why shouldn't every Albertan enjoy our prosperity?
Here is why I agree with the "Danielle Dollars":
1. Most Albertans don't work up in Fort Mac, but when our economy is booming, so are our house, food and clothing prices. If you are a worker in Edmonton, earning minimum wage, you see no benefits from the boom. The "Danielle Dollars" will be a direct benefit to you and your family, in compensation for having to pay higher food and shelter prices.
2. Albertans will only get those "Danielle Dollars" if there is a surplus. This creates the incentive for governments to actually watch their spending because Albertans are going to hold them to account.
3. Some people are saying lowering taxes would be better. Alberta already has a 10% flat tax rate, meaning that it is a fair tax system. Those 1% of the rich have no way to shelter their income from taxes, so if they make 1,000,000 a year, they pay 100,000 in taxes, no loopholes allowed. The "Danielle Dollars" will make the most impact on the poorest in Alberta, who don't pay any taxes.
4. Albertan's suffered through 20% reductions to get rid of our debt, and we did it gladly so we could leave our children with a brighter future. We do not want to see all that hard work and sacrifice go to waste and it is now time for Albertans to start reaping some of the benefits of the pain that we endured. When we have surpluses again, why shouldn't debt free Albertans get some of that money so we can spend it more efficiently than any government ever could?
5. The "Danielle Dollars" would only be 20% of any surplus, with a further 30% put away in the Heritage fund. The PC's have taken money out of the fund to finance their high spending ways, and have left nothing for our future, this has to stop.
6. The big minus I can see in this, is that you are giving out money during a boom, and if everyone spends those "Danielle Dollars", inflation could be a problem. Assuming that people are working during a boom, they would be more likely to save then spend, so the inflationary worries might not arise.
7. Some fear mongers are already saying it would be taxpayers paying for this, but it is royalties, not tax money. It would be better than what the PC's were trying to get support for....a Provincial Sales TAX! NO.WAY. NEVER. Remember that one before you vote PC.
Giving back to Albertans and allowing them to decide how to spend those "Danielle Dollars" instead of the money going into the government coffers, is never a bad thing. It assumes that Albertans are not going to spend it all on beer and popcorn.....okay maybe a 12 pack of beer and a Jiffy Pop popcorn (can be found at the IGA) could be in order, because it would be our money, not the governments. What's not to like?
Maybe we could all pool the "Danielle Dollars" and send them to Alison so she can build those magical 150 medi centers that have suddenly popped up on her agenda. Yet the media calls out the Wildrose for supposed vote buying? Hey media, look into those magically appearing medi centers won't you? They mushroomed from 3 test centers into 150 across Alberta, without testing the effectiveness, or telling us how they would be staffed.
Interesting how all the lefty media are championing RED Ali, it should give all Albertan voters a clue as to how RED she really is.

Alberta Going Wild??
I think the polls showing Wildrose surging are excellent, but you need to look at the last election results, riding by riding, to get a realistic view of how many ridings the Wildrose might win. Elections Alberta has all the results, by polling station if you care to dig that deep.
When you make the assumption that it is mainly former PC voters who are going to vote Wildrose, it brings up some interesting situations. Take just three Edmonton ridings, and assume that 50% of the PC vote will now go to the Wildrose.
The Liberals in Redmonton must be feeling good, because the split vote could mean that all three of these ridings would go Liberal, and other ridings in Edmonton are in play as well. This assumes that all Liberal and NDP voters still vote the same way, as they have no reason to change their votes. Will Liberals switch their votes to the PC's because they feel Alison is more RED than BLUE? Interesting possibility.
Given that many Conservative/NDP/Liberal voters stayed home last election, it is hard to predict any riding. If the voter turnout increases, no riding is predictable. This is a really exciting election. Momentum is important, and Wildrose has that momentum right now. I hope it gets stronger as the election goes on. Rural Alberta can change everything by shifting their votes to Wildrose. Those ridings are very much in play, and the Liberal/NDP are not a factor. The change starts with rural voters, and Calgary. Get out there, help your Wildrose candidate, you can make the difference this election!

Let The Stampede Begin! Hee Haw!
PC voters are still clinging to the illusion that their party is actually Conservative. We need to get out there and inform them that Wildrose is the only Conservative party in Alberta.
Remember that Albertans change parties with no warning. I thought it might be last election, but even I voted PC to save my riding from a Liberal, we won by 58 votes. This time around, I am voting for the candidate I want, not the candidate that can defeat a Liberal. I know that splitting the vote will mean that we get a Liberal MLA, but I am willing to live with that in the short run. I will be happy with a minority government, with the Wildrose as the opposition, but I am hoping for a minority Wildrose government so we can get rid of Orange Alison.
Speaking of orange, I can not differentiate between the PC and NDP signs.
Why is Alison wearing orange? I thought that was the NDP colour?
It is orange, not red. What is with all the brain washed kids holding Redford signs? Bet it was teachers getting out the juvenile vote to show their support for Orange Ali. The colour of PC is BLUE, not orange. Drive down a street in Edmonton and you can't tell who is voting NDP or PC, the signs look the same as you drive by.
Danielle has to be called out as well, she was wearing red for the election announcement, not green or blue.
It's a small thing, but it's the small things that can win an election. Wear the right colours.

"The Bus" That Won An Election?
It appears the Wildrose bus has made it to the big times! Ellen Degeneres posted it on her facebook page, and someone there commented that Jay Leno had it on his show too. Whether it was for fun or not doesn't matter, Wildrose couldn't have paid to get this kind of advertising. It's "The Bus" that won an election!!
Last polls out had Wildrose trailing the PC's by 5 points, now, after "The Bus", they are tied at 38% each.
So, "The Bus" didn't hurt Wildrose at all, it actually caused people to sit up and take notice of the election. All good. Danielle handled the issue with humour and that probably won a number of people over to Wildrose.
I'm excited that we are now in the election. I noticed the candidate in our area already has signs going up. I wonder how badly the PC's are being hurt by the number of former PC'ers who would have worked on their campaigns, who are now working for the Wildrose?

Titillated By Tires!
A shiver is running down the spine of lefties when they see this picture:
Oh my goodness, my resident liberal troll, just had to go off topic and report to me his SHOCK at the bus, he is obviously titillated by tires!
Typical lefties, trying to change the topic when they don't like the issue. Do they ever grow up?
Wildrose has received more free advertising because of that one bus than the PC's can afford to pay for all election....whenever that might be.
I have my Wildrose sign on reserve, I have volunteered to help them, and I am more than ready to vote. Call the dang election, nothing is going to make it better for the PC's.

I like the ad, it is hard hitting but factual. Of course the lefties are going to call it an "attack" ad, because they are now cheering for the PC's because they have a LIBERAL leader. This should be a very interesting, high turnout, election. May the Wildrose win.
Everywhere the Wildrose bus goes, people are going to be looking, wondering if the picture is still in the same place. This "mistake" is actually a huge win for the Wildrose. Increased exposure (HA), with minimal expenditure. Nice.

NOT Dysfunctional? Are You Kidding ME??
Way back in March, I posted a Youtube video showing how dysfunctional Parliament had become. I re-post it to show you how bad this Parliament had become. Remember this is way back in March....
So, to those opposition people (see I didn't use lefties! HA!) who think Parliament was working, get real!
Also contrast the slogans:
Liberals: Greener, richer, fairer
Conservatives: United, strong and free
Can you sissy Liberals come down from your elitist cloud and realize that the average Joe Blow Canadian can not relate to you and your message? Right over your heads I see, oh well, at least the Conservatives get it!

Alberta Goes BLUE!
Conservatives come out of hiding, and vote PC! My riding was the last to be announced, and I'm pleased we booted a Liberal and elected a PC.

NDP 2
What happened? Calgary was supposed to go red, didn't happen. Edmonton was supposed to go blue, it happened.
Guess Steady Eddie, really is a leader, his results are the same as Ralph got in his best election. Hopefully the media will stop with the snide remarks about a farmer running this province.
We voted, the PC got over 52% of the vote. Now, we shall see what the next 4 years brings.

Killing The Golden Goose!
I read this article, and thought, it's bang on, is this guy an Albertan? As Albertans approach the day of the vote, March 3rd, we still have 1 in 5 undecided, how will they vote? Will Conservatives stay home again, or come out and fight?
Wildrose Alliance's Hinman full of surprises
At first, the merger between the Wildrose Party of Alberta and the Alberta Alliance last month looked like a non-event....
Some remarkable things have happened since: the merger of two marginal parties to the right of the ruling PCs managed to garner a heap of press coverage (albeit still well below that of the Gary Coleman nuptials). Wildrose Alliance leader Paul Hinman now shows up in the newspaper daily as the guy reporters count on for the most combative quotes of a generally bloodless election race. An Angus Reid poll released Thursday now puts the Wildrose Alliance ahead of the NDP among decided voters, with 10% support province-wide. Finally, Mr. Hinman made some kind of impression in last night’s leaders debate. “Here’s one thought everyone might agree on,” the Calgary Herald’s provincial columnist, Don Braid, writes. “Paul Hinman, the Wildrose Alliance leader, established a clear, crisp, identity as the spokesman for Alberta’s orphaned small c-conservatives.”
Orphaned small c-conservatives, more like all Alberta C/conservatives. Just like the federal Liberals sitting on their hands, and walking out of votes, last election many Conservatives stayed home in protest. This time, I sense a fight, because they have an alternative party to go out and vote for, instead of not voting against the other parties. This time we can vote PC or Wildrose, let's not ignore the damage a Liberal government in Alberta would do, we protested last election by staying home, great, point made, but how far do you carry non-voting to? Allowing a Liberal government? Are Albertans ready for that?
My biggest worry is that we might end up with a Liberal minority, the worse situation Alberta could face. We would be ruled by a Liberal/NDP coalition. The damage they could do to Alberta in only a few months would be devastating.

Fear mongering? These are MY personal fears about what could happen to Alberta. Look to Saskatchewan under the NDP for a great example of how a could have been "have" province was kept underdeveloped by their government, look at the changes since they elected a new government. They made a GOOD change in government.
We need change, but it must be GOOD change, not just change for the sake of change. We must be smart with our votes, we must not stay home this time, the future of our province depends on our vote. We let Liberals, the NDP and unions, determine who our Premier would be, we can not let them hi-jack our province by staying home.
We can not let them "kill the golden goose", that is ALBERTA, not oil.
I've never known a Conservative that won't fight hard for their independence and freedom from the heavy hand of government, I hope Alberta Conservatives get mad about what could happen to our province, and come out and vote.
Wildrose Alliance's Hinman full of surprises
At first, the merger between the Wildrose Party of Alberta and the Alberta Alliance last month looked like a non-event....
Some remarkable things have happened since: the merger of two marginal parties to the right of the ruling PCs managed to garner a heap of press coverage (albeit still well below that of the Gary Coleman nuptials). Wildrose Alliance leader Paul Hinman now shows up in the newspaper daily as the guy reporters count on for the most combative quotes of a generally bloodless election race. An Angus Reid poll released Thursday now puts the Wildrose Alliance ahead of the NDP among decided voters, with 10% support province-wide. Finally, Mr. Hinman made some kind of impression in last night’s leaders debate. “Here’s one thought everyone might agree on,” the Calgary Herald’s provincial columnist, Don Braid, writes. “Paul Hinman, the Wildrose Alliance leader, established a clear, crisp, identity as the spokesman for Alberta’s orphaned small c-conservatives.”
Orphaned small c-conservatives, more like all Alberta C/conservatives. Just like the federal Liberals sitting on their hands, and walking out of votes, last election many Conservatives stayed home in protest. This time, I sense a fight, because they have an alternative party to go out and vote for, instead of not voting against the other parties. This time we can vote PC or Wildrose, let's not ignore the damage a Liberal government in Alberta would do, we protested last election by staying home, great, point made, but how far do you carry non-voting to? Allowing a Liberal government? Are Albertans ready for that?
My biggest worry is that we might end up with a Liberal minority, the worse situation Alberta could face. We would be ruled by a Liberal/NDP coalition. The damage they could do to Alberta in only a few months would be devastating.

Change! Change! Change!
That's all we are hearing these days. We heard it last election, "Vote For Change!", it worked, we changed governments, that has been a good thing. We are hearing it loudly from the Obama camp in the US. We are hearing it from all parties, including the PC's, in the Alberta election. We heard it in the Saskatchewan election. Even Cuba is talking change now!
Problem is no-one is defining what they really mean by CHANGE. Is it a GOOD change? A desirable change? A change for the better? I have no problem with change, but only if I see it as a change that is going to benefit Alberta, or Canada.
Is the change in Pakistan a good one? Will the people do better now? They must think so, we can only hope. Was the change to a Hamas government good? Change just for changes sake is not necessarily a good thing, that's why Albertan's are not likely to change their votes. I can not see any improvement by voting in the Liberals or the NDP. They have yet to convince me that they would be better for Alberta than what we have now.
Is Obama a good change? I can't tell, he is a great speaker, but he speaks about nothing, except change, oh and hope. It's an emotional appeal, designed to win over voters, but ask those voters what his policy is on anything, and they have no clue. That is scary.
Voting is the most important right we have in a free country. My vote this election is not going to be bought by goodies, I am going to make my decision based on who will keep Alberta on the right path. My vote is important to my kids, who can't vote yet, it's my responsibility to make sure they have the best chance to succeed in this world.

Shake Hands And Come Out Fighting!
I can really have fun this election because, I happen to be in a riding that has a Liberal MLA, don't even know his name, never received any literature from him, so care not a bit about him, just like he cared nothing about me.
All parties are going to have to make it clear what their position is on Human Rights Commissions. My vote is up for grabs on this issue alone. Now that health premiums have been taken off the table, let's make HRC's a major issue. Let's make sure we ask every candidate, and every party, what their position is on the Alberta HRC's.
The national media is yapping about change, thinking Conservatives might change into Liberals in Alberta. HAHAHAHA, not going to happen, even with all the newbies in Alberta. By change we mean from the PC to Wildrose Alliance, not become lefties. Does the Toronto media not get it? Who do we have to vote for? On the right, we have the PC's and Wildrose, on the left, we have Liberals, NDP and Greens.
Let's start with the left.
Liberals = NEP (National Energy Program, for those too young to know, killed our last boom, left people homeless.)
NDP = National Deficit Party (Want to see a boom go bust? Vote for those yahoos.)
Greens = Death to the oilsands. (The greens will have us freezing in the cold, if they have their way.)
On the right.
Progressive Conservatives = Long in the tooth, with a weak leader, but not a total disaster, I'm actually warming up to Stelmach, I just think he is in over his head.
Wildrose Alliance = A true grass roots Conservative party, but they need a better leader.
So, I will vote for either the PC's or the Wildrose. If my MLA was a PC, I would probably vote for them, but seeing as I have a Liberal MLA, it can't hurt for me to vote Wildrose, if they have a candidate in my riding.
