The Hockey Stick Re-Found

Well the famous hockey stick analysis has been found again, and this time the data is actually factual.

Okay everyone start panicking like the global warmists! Oh wait, that's Canada's unemployment rate.

To all the lefties who think that PM Harper should have known this was going to happen, the graph clearly shows that the big jump didn't happen until December of 2008, and that the rise was catastrophic, to use lefty terms to scare everybody about their own shadows. Let's all start to run around like chickens with their heads cut off! The sky is falling, the sky is falling!

So if the original hockey stick graph portrayed global doom, what does our unemployment hockey stick mean? If this trend continues, by the year 2109, our unemployment rate will be 100%! YIKES! Grab your kids, some vegetable seeds and head for the hills! No one working will mean no government revenues......hey wait a second, maybe that's not such a bad thing. HA!

Seeing as the lefties function on emotions, this graph should scare the living daylights out of them. Expect more fear mongering by the MSM, who by the way are part of the reason that hockey stick is so high, by their own hand, they have sealed their destiny.

Here is an interesting graph that shows that both forestry and autos started to decline in 1999, funny how the majority Liberals never seemed to notice that little trend at the time!

What bothers me is that the Liberals are blaming this downturn on the Conservative government and after being willing to form a coalition government to force MORE spending, are now scaring Canadians about a supposed $80 billion, "structural" deficit, that they conveniently forget to mention is a projection over 5 years.

Lefties are good at fear inducing graphs and emotional pleas to save ____ (fill in the blank) but they lack one of the most important political drivers of all....common sense.

"What bothers me is that the Liberals are blaming this downturn on the Conservative government..."

Can you point me to the quote where the liberal party is blaming Harper for the recession? Because I am pretty sure they are not doing that.

What they are saying is that Harper either failed to notice the recession was coming (after several prominent economists in this country said it was) or did notice it was coming and lied about that on the campaign trail.

They are also saying that, by frittering away the surplus and decreasing the GST Harper ensured that we would have to go into deficit - and that deficit is much bigger than it would have been had he adequately prepared the country (by, you know, not frittering away the surplus and decreasing the GST).

There are plenty of reasons to criticize the liberals so why don't you stop making things up and stick to the facts.

Good research Hunter!
What is never mentioned is that Canada was at an historic 30 year LOW unemployment before the global recession.
Remember reading somewhere we are at 2005 levels now.
But that just isn't scarey enough for the LibDippers.

Hunter - do you hear a buzzing sound - like some kind of flying pest buzzing around the blog - annoying but persistent? Bring on the Raid and get rid of that annoying buzzing insect.
