I know that Quebec is the Grandpa in confederation, and Alberta is the young pup, but Grandpa is dying and the pup is full of energy.
The Bloc have a bigoted view of Alberta, listen to them in question period, they certainly appear to hate us, or our oil. I can not ever remember Duceppe visiting Alberta, he doesn't need to because they have no MP's from here. What an easy job, campaign on taxpayers money only in Quebec.
Why are Conservative numbers dropping in Quebec, after all the pandering and giving megabucks to Quebec, they are upset because of less than 2 million dollars cut from ARTS? Not true, they just needed a reason to elect separatists who do nothing but collect big bucks and pensions. They are hypocrites, they elect the block because it makes them special.
Well, enough is enough, Quebec is no more special than PEI, or BC. I want Duceppe to get his arrogant butt out to Alberta and find out that we are people too, and we do not have knuckle dragging arms or horns.
I am sick and tired of question period being 70% French and 30% English. I could care less what Liberal MP can speak French, I want to hear real questions, and real answers.
Quebec can stand on it's own two feet, they do not need the 8 billion from the rest of Canada. PM Harper and the Conservatives should stop giving special attention to Quebec, they will never be happy. They might even respect you if you smack them down and tell them to grow up.
This comes from Alberta with love, because it's time for Quebec to get it's head straight or leave.

Couldn't agree with you more. I agree, it is time for Quebec to make a decision, no more blackmail. And if the Ont govt, and police don't get rid of those protestors ASAP, Toronto can leave also.
Pay attention to those blocking the highway. That is an example of liberal voters.
I fully expect to see some 18 wheeler suddenly lose its brakes and plow thru the group. And also notice that they, like the tamils in Sri Lanka, are using women and children.

I think all of the politicians are nervous of circumstances in Quebec. I don't blame the Quebecers.

It's no wonder Duceppe avoids Alberta, they apparently don't speak either official language very well.
The protesters here are cowards, IMHO. They wreak havoc on the lives of innocent taxpayers but they are too afraid to actually go to Sri Lanka and join their brothers and sisters in the actual fight. It takes absolutely no courage at all to protest here and hurt innocent Canadians as they try to go about their normal lives. Cowards, each and every one of those protesters.

This is a gem Huntsy, a real gem. Read the minutes of the Standing Committee on Heritage study on the arts cuts made by Pianist/Economist MSH last summer. Read the Minister of Heritage and his Deputy Minister's idiotic defense of those cuts in contrast to the evidence from members of the arts industry. My career background is somewhat 'arts' related. I've been running my own architectural design firm for 22 years and never once received a nickle of taxpayer money to support me. Nor did I ever expect taxpayer money, I pay my one way in life. My business was built on a quality product, hard work and service to my clients. 100% of my business is by referal and I do not advertise. Alberta has given me the opportunity to make a very comfortable living for myself and my family for which I am very thankful.
Every spring (and quarterly) I cut LARGE tax cheques to the federal government knowing full well a good portion of it will go to lazy 'artists', 'interpretive dance' troupes, make-work government programs of little value and that mother of all welfare queens, Quebec. The icing on the cake had to be that freak from a few years ago who's 'art' consited of masturbating into test tubes while being chauffered around the town of Banff in a horse drawn carraige.
Oh, and we can't forget the CBC, that infamous taxpayer toilet that no matter how much you jiggle the handle, the water keeps on running through it.
Cut Quebec lose once and for all and if there's no work in your province either find something else to do or move to where there is work.
The productive are continually growing tired of paying the proverbial freight for the idle and lazy.

I have always felt Quebec to be a part of my Canada but the "impression" that I get is that we are not part of the Quebec Nation and thus there appears to be a one way street. I would not be adverse to a two nation concept sharing the northern part of the continent (it might be three with the Canadian Maritime provinces being "cut-off" from the ROC). The peoples of Quebec could and should do their own thing at their own expense, and we can always be good neighbors!
It is time for Quebec to be on their own OR decide to be one of ten and the territories. No middle wussy ground.

Why should Hunter go to Quebec, she is not the leader of a party trying to break up Canada. She is not making stmts she knows nothing about, that could cause loss of jobs, income and taxes for Albertans.
Wonder if Duceppe has given consideration to the fact that no oilsands, no money for equalization for Quebec.
I'd love to see a trial run of sorts be done on Quebec whereby every cent in annual transfer payments would be withheld, every federal government employee in Hull, Montreal, Quebec City, everywhere would be laid off. Bomardier would also be banned from the trough. Not one cent from the R.O.C. for one year.
In 365 days time we then ask them how they like those apples. A little reality check alright.
Funny how a generation ago if any ethnic or other group wanted to promote thier culture, build a community center, or what have you, they did it on thier own dime. The local municipality maybe waived a portion of the building permit fees, but that was it. The taxpayer doesn't owe culture anything.
I recall the stories of that oldtimers told when building thier community halls and churches. It was all volunteers. They built what they could afford. Back breaking manual labour all dontated free of charge and with no condidtions or anything expected (or demanded) in return.
By today's standards if your local MP or MLA isn't there to hand over the big novelty cheque printed on corrugated plastic, somehow that club/culture/greivence group is somehow vulnerable to extinction.
And to think we landed a man on the moon, conquered the highest mountain peaks and saw the advent of the computer long before the likes of kindergarten, pride parades and liberal politicians marching along with terrorist groups in exchange for thier support at the bollots.
Hey mystery meat, I was there about 10 years ago, we tried to cash an American Express traveler's cheque, but they had no idea what it was.
My son was there last year, and had a great time, everyone spoke English to him even though he was on a trip with his French class.
I have no problem with people from Quebec, my problem is with the Bloc constantly yapping about the oilsands without ever coming to see them.
Actually Quebec and Alberta have more in common than the Bloc wants us to realize, we both want to be left alone to achieve great things for our kids.
Except, Alberta wants to do it alone without government interference, Quebec wants to go it alone with massive money transfers from the rest of Canada.

You were clear that you are ideologically opposed to arts funding and that you were offended by art once, you don't like CBC and that you hold simultaneously the ideas that artists and Quebecers are lazy.
You've repeatedly stated here in these comments that you make great big wads of cash in a somewhat art related profession. So I'm interested in how you put your ideas together. Let's see, you had some trouble with the work of a Mexican artist who came to do an exchange at Banff. Did you see the artwork? What did it look like? What was his fee? And how much of that fee did your taxes personally pay?
