Why Do You Vote Conservative?

I vote Conservative because I want the individual to count. I want people to succeed on their own merits. I do not want the "elites" telling me what to do and think. I care about family first, I love my kids and try to make sure they are happy, I am sure lefties feel the same way, so why vote Conservative?

What makes one person vote Liberal and another vote Conservative? I think being a Conservative is all about doing for yourself not relying on the government. Conservatives are doers. They don't just talk, they don't write reports, they get to the root of the problem and solve it.

Liberals talk about a problem and create committees to study the problem but they seldom solve anything. That is why Iggy is like a ghost, he has no opinions, no policies and no direction for his people. At least Dion stood for something, Iggy stands for nothing.

Liberal values; suck up to terrorists, special interest groups and immigrants. Hire immigrants to shine your shoes, and demand your entitlements. Support swingers clubs because that is so "now". Reject religion because you are too smart to be taken in by it, but global warming is real because Gore created a movie about it.

Why do you vote Conservative? What do you want to see if the Conservatives ever get a majority and don't have to cater to the leftist voters?

I have my priorities; get rid of the CWB and CBC, reduce the power of racists unions, allow income splitting for families, spend more on the disabled and seniors, and quit banning everything.

What do you want to see?

I would like to see right wingers stop encouraging people to kill doctors who provide abortions. It's a small thing I know, but wouldn't the world be a better place if we didn't pump up whack jobs with stupid rhetoric?

I vote conservative because I fear the damage the Liberals will do to this nation.

I don't actually like the CPC much any more - they are just the least bad.

The last year has been very disappointing, and the GM bailout is completely beyond the pale.

Mikhael,I don,t think you will ever be happy. If we have ever come close to a perfect Government, this is it.Don.t blame the recession on PM Harper or the Conservatives.Don't blame them for the deficit either. It was forced on them by the opposition parties and the need to help the car manufacturers and the unemployed.Other than that the Conservatives have done more for Canadians in 3 years than the Liberals have done in 30 years. So as i said earlier Mikhael, some people complain all the time and others are thankful for having a PM who makes us proud and a Government that is not into brown envelope stuffing. What i would like is GET rid of the CBC and have a royal commission into the Chretien years in government. Not just adscam.

Southern Quebec - please provide just one instance where ANYONE emcouraged killing of abortion providers. Just one specific instance. It should be easy as you seem to thinks it's common amongst right wingers. So step up - show us your "facts"

I think far more innocent people have been neglected, mistreated and downright murdered by those who subscribe to the mental disorder of left thinking than a so called 'do no harm' physician whose trade involves having an unborn baby stabbed in the brain with a sharp knife, cut up into small pieces and sucked into a sink. Yeah S.Q. that's a real small thing.

There are far fewer whack jobs on the right who think revenge should be extracted upon the abortion doctor than there are lazy criminals on the left with an endemic entitlement mentality being pumped up by thier so called 'leaders' telling them that the rich guy owes them a living, if you want something take it and if it feels good, do it. The left will support these criminal sloths to the end, all in exchange for thier vote or a brown paper bag stuffed with cash. The only consistant thing about a lefty is thier soul is always for sale, even to the lowest bidder.

MIkhael said...

Treb - I don't blame the recession on Harper, but I also don't accept that the ridiculous bailout was forced on the CPC by politics. The overwhelming majority of Canadians oppose it. Look at any poll, any online discussion.

It's just politicians, fearing blame, not having the courage to discuss the truth, hard facts, and most importantly the courage of their principles.

I was a strong CPC supporter until, and through, the last election. I will still vote CPC. The libs will never have my vote no matter what, but there is no longer any enthusiasm in my politics, only tired resignation. Probably the worst thing for me was PM Harper's attack on the Libertarian wing of the CPC.

There it is for me in a nutshell. Huntsy, how can you " object to the idea of elites telling you what to do and think" while looking forward to a day when a conservative majority will not have to cater to voters on the left? Are you saying you hope there will come a time when the conservatives no longer have to convince voters on the left of the merit of their policies? Are you saying that in the instance of a conservative majority, it will be ok for them as right wing elites to tell others what to do and think? That is a truly effed up thing I don't think you can really defend and your posts can barely conceal.

"What have you done for a disabled person lately SQ??"

Hunter - I "stole" your retort from Friday Funnies - you are so bang-on with that retort. I have noticed that the discontented of this country (most of them on the left) are great at talk but actually doing something is a whole 'nuther (redneck expression) story.

I love poverty industry advocates who protest the government's lack of action on poverty. I know a fair number of such people and they all live in affluent areas, drive really nice cars, dress in designer clothing and NEVER, NEVER, NEVER have taken a poor person or a homeless person into their homes. But...the government is just not doing enough for these poor people.

Not a single one of them has ever worked in a women's shelter, not a single one of them has ever worked in a men's shelter, not one of them has roamed the streets at night with a Pastor, handing out blankets, not one of them has ever actually done a single thing for any of these poor downtrodden folks...but they do demand that the government get off of its butt and do something.

Well, Hunter, like you, I walk the walk. I worked for 30 years as a volunteer in the are of suicide (males, specifically, since I am a man and understand how we think and react), I have worked with mentally handicapped, I have delivered Christmas hampers, I have roamed the streets at night with Pastors...I have done all sorts of things to help people in need.

And all the while, people like SQ will sit in their dirty little hovels and criticize people of faith (like myself), the government, rich people, white people...etc. and jump on people like yourself for putting forth a little redneck humour.

People like SQ make me puke.

Doctors who provide abortions are breaking their oath to "do no harm". Abortion as a convenient method of birth control is murder. Abortion to save the mother's life or to prevent the birth of a baby who will suffer throughout its life is therapeutic. Otherwise, as a means of compensating for the lack of responsibility of two sexually mature individuals is cold-blooded murder.

mystereeoso said...

You can hardly call medically necessary late term abortions, of the kind performed by Tiller - a means of compensating for lack of sexual responsibility, East of Eden.

Today 2 new polls came out.

first poll
CBC ran the biggest ever poll, with 10,896 respondents, ran it for 3 weeks.
They kept on polling until there was a tie, and then headline says
'Lib minority possible'...hahahah

''Up until the deficit news of May 26, the Conservatives appeared to have been benefiting from the fact some more prosperous Canadians, perhaps with an eye more to the stock market than the job market, were becoming more optimistic about the economic future.''

Results:
33.5 Liberal.... 32.3 per Conservative
http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2009/06/01/federal-poll357.html

second poll
Toronto Star did the opposite, ran the poll for the 2 days following the $50B deficit announcement,
and got a tie, headline 'attack ads backfiring'

Well, one reason I do not vote conservative is because conservatives apparently have to lie in order to win support.

"I vote conservative because I fear the damage the Liberals will do to this nation."

Liberals have governed this nation almost exclusively since confederation.

"I vote Conservative, because they will drop the long gun registry.

No they won't, and no they don't. They tell other people to take responsibility, but the CPC is STILL blaming the LPC for everything that goes wrong. When the CPC stop lying, maybe then they can lay claim to taking personal responsibility.

Second, I work in an office full of professionals, many of whom with incomes well above the national average, and many of whom do "walk the walk" when it comes to helping the poor. In addition to that, they could go elsewhere and make twice as much money as they do now, but they have decided to dedicate themselves to helping people in need.

But don't let facts get in your way.

Gayle, the current liberals have lost their way. They are obsessed with creating an all controlling nanny state, do not recognize individual rights as a priority, and are responsible for the multiculturalism disaster that is currently the biggest threat to the future of this nation.

You cannot compare the Liberals of 100 years ago to those of today. The Liberals of the last generation would like us to end up like Britain of today - a complete social, financial, and political disaster, the nanny police state in its nearly complete expression.

Southern Quebec said...

Maybe it really is time to separate the church from the state. ie no more tax deductible donations to religious institutions. If there is a 'higher authority' this should not be a problem. They should also have to pay real estate taxes on the buildings they own.

AG - seriously, do you think I should have to prove that the Liberal Party of Canada is not running on a platform of "sucking up to terrorists"? Really?

When you demand people prove a negative, it is generally because you are lying.

I think it is pretty clear that Gayle was quoting things she thinks are untrue. Do you really believe anyone is so obtuse they don't get that and will instead follow your claim she has confessed to lying?

Then you take her example of asking someone to prove a negative and claim it is off topic. Do you really think anyone really thinks like you are pretending to?

I suppose it is about time for you to claim victory and talk about "really striking a nerve" or some other nonsense.

However, it is most encouraging for the upcoming election to see you have nothing to with. All you have is trying to provoke an exasperated reaction, which you can claim is evidence of being angry, hateful and all the other adjectives you so love to hurl at people who don't agree with you.

And no, you're not even doing a very good baiting job.

Everyone should stay on topic and quit the personal attacks.

Now Gayle, SQ and LS, why do you vote Conservative again??

Pot calling kettle and all that, huh!

And LS - Gayle said Conservatives lie - I simply demanded that she provide proof of that - of course she ducked and wove and haughtily stated that she would not prove a negative.

AG: Gayle said that this statement about the Liberals is a lie:

"They are obsessed with creating an all controlling nanny state, do not recognize individual rights as a priority, and are responsible for the multiculturalism disaster that is currently the biggest threat to the future of this nation."

You then demanded that she prove this is NOT true. That is called "proving a negative", i.e. your assertion is to be treated as fact until someone proves otherwise. How would you prove, as she rhetorically asked, that you are NOT a murderer?

You want to make such accusations, you must prove them or be presumed a liar. We hear these statements made daily, and not demonstrated to be true. That means these statements are lies, until proven otherwise.

So who is being obtuse?
The term for what you are doing is being "willfully obtuse". That means you are pretending not to understand something, so you can avoid an actual discussion. Usually this is done with the hope of winning by default because the other person tires of your childishness or writes you off as an imbecile.

Alberta Girl said...

Gayle said...

Yes AG, and I gave examples of the lies I was referring to.

What is so hard to understand?

Gayle said...

Hunter, I can appreciate that you want an adult discussion, but you set the tone with your inflamatory and false statements about liberals.

If you want us to have a mature discussion, can I suggest you leave out the "liberals want to suck up to terrorists" stuff? I certainly agree there are many legitimate reasons why you might not want to support the liberals, so why do you find the need to rely on something that is so patently false?

liberal supporter said...

Move the goal posts?? You mean like global warming becoming climate change.
No, that is called "code baiting", using your code words to make sure the reader knows which side you are on, while hoping to bait and infuriate those on the other side.

Moving the goal posts in the climate change debate would be a progression of positions such as this:
1) asserting the climate absolutely is not changing,
then
2) the climate may be changing but it has nothing to do with human activity,
then
3) the climate may be changing and human activity may be contributing, but it is a really small contribution,
then
4) the climate may be changing due to human activity, but you'll just have to learn to live with it.

Referring to "climate change" instead of "global warming" is no different than referring to "homicide bombers" instead of "suicide bombers". It is more descriptive to refer to the effect of something, i.e. climate change or homicide bombing, but the underlying cause is unchanged. The climate changes are still due to overall global warming. You can heat a propane refrigerator and parts of it get cold, but overall you are warming the system, since you are adding energy.

You could now provide a great example of willful obtuseness and channel changing by claiming the above illustration is proof the Liberals are terrorist lovers because they compare global warming to suicide bombers.

liberal supporter said...

why do you vote Conservative again??
I voted for Mulroney the first time because Turner looked hungover in the debates and Mulroney harnessed a lot of indignation over patronage appointments made by Trudeau and not rescinded by Turner. Mulroney seemed to be not too ideological.

I voted for Mike Harris because I was angry with the public sector unions, who chose to sulk because Bob Rae preserved their jobs while cutting costs. Since provincial governments cannot change the overall system, and cannot implement a so-con agenda at that level, I was not concerned about anything other than having some fiscal restraint put through the system. I missed the second Harris election due to unforeseen travel.

I voted for Eaves because he seemed more pragmatic than Harris and non-ideological and he would bring a more restrained approach to government while maintaining fiscal restraint.

So I only support economic conservatism, and only as long as it is not lead by ideologues. I especially dislike theocracy, because whoever is in charge can always find some Scripture to support practically anything, plus theocracy tends to expect obedience and no dissent. Currently, the theocrats support the right wing, and in return, they expect laws enacted to enforce their views on everyone else.

Alberta Girl said...

Why did exPM Martin and other MP's go to their functions, even after the Tamil Tigers were officially declared a terrorist organization? Right there you have a terrorist, special interest group that are immigrants....Iggy even got them off the road with promises of bringing it up in Parliament.

I don't have to prove them to be true, you are the one who said they were lies, yet have nothing to back up your statement.

Come one Gayle - how come you are never the one who has to provide links, has to back up statements.

You are the one that said that the CPC lie to get support yet nowhere have you backed up or given examples of that statement. Those words were Hunters words - so once again, I ask you, Gayle - How do the CPC lie to get support?

Please, if you are going to make a statement like that, have the backbone to stand behind it and give examples.

Gayle said...

Hunter - without conceding what appears to be your point (that in the past liberals did not consider the Tamil Tigers terrorists (hard to tell if that is your point since, rather than making it, you ask me questions)), I have to point out that you are relying on a position taken by the party 2 leaders ago. In case you missed it, Ignatieff has been pretty clear on the current LPC position on the Tamil Tigers.

So it is kind of like saying the conservatives support a higher GST because Mulroney brought it in.

The difference, dear Gayle, is that the current CPC is not Mulroney's party - the Liberals are still the Liberals.
