Is Western Canada The Land Of Galt?

I have read of the recent surge in the sales of "Atlas Shrugged", so I wonder where in North America would the entrepreneurs have the best chance of shrugging off the liberal shackles? Think about it. California? Ontario? Quebec? Where would you escape? Where do you want to raise your children to give them the best chance to excel? Where in North America would John Galt choose to relocate, and take all the talent with him?

Are you going to be here?

Organizers plan confronation for banned Brit MP (That would be confrontation)
TORONTO -- Organizers of the four-city speaking tour of British anti-war MP George Galloway are going to challenge the decision to bar him from Canada in court.

The organizers also say if that fails, they've already prepared plan B.

Organizers are to announce Monday they will file an emergency injunction in Ontario federal court on Tuesday seeking to overturn Citizenship and Immigration Canada's entry ban on the outspoken politician.

Should that fail, a delegation of Canadian MPs, lawyers and activists is assembling to escort Galloway from the U.S., where he is on tour, across the Canadian border.

Do you see yourself marching in support of a terrorist sympathizer? Right, me neither. It will be interesting to see which MP's attend. Then we have these guys:

Groups seek closer checks on police profiling

The Canadian Human Rights Commission and the Canadian Race Relations Foundation recommend in a joint statement that Canadian policing and security agencies record such characteristics as race, age and gender after they make such decisions as sending someone to a secondary search or pulling someone out of a line at a border crossing.

So, we have terrorist supporters good, profiling bad. Don't want any terrorist to get their feelings hurt now do we? Let's not forget the MP going to a gun club meeting, this is a very very bad thing, not like MP's supporting terrorists, that is a good thing!

Tories, stop being Liberals

Quit pap-spouting over shooting club's plan to raffle off a handgun and address the real issue

The fact opposition politicians and Toronto's left-leaning mayor, David Miller, along with the normally sensible Mayor Hazel McCallion of Mississauga, were given a golden opportunity to deflect public attention away from the very real problem of violent, urban, gun crime, and the failure of all levels of government to address it, was, for them, a huge bonus.

Even better, by their lights, they got to attack both Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Conservative MP Garry Breitkreuz, the latter probably the most knowledgable politician in Canada about the utter failure of the federal long gun and handgun registries to effectively combat violent, urban, street crime.

Those are just a few examples of how out of control the lefties have become. So, where can a person go to escape? Think Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and large areas of BC. Think rural Ontario, but unfortunately Ontario is where most of the protesters are, so even though most people living in Ontario are conservative minded, they get tarred with the lefty brush. Notice that cities are more prone to spawn lefties as are universities, they yell about "freedom of speech" but it means only freedom to speak if you agree with their point of view.

We call Alberta "God's Country", maybe it should be renamed to "Galt Country"! Many people will be looking to find a place to go to that is not just mouthing freedom, but lives it, and that is western Canada. It should not be "Who is John Galt", it should be "Where is John Galt".

If they let George W Bush, a known torturer (see ICRC report), into this country, there is no reason for not letting in Galloway. His only 'crime' was taking food and medicine into Gaza. Even a compassionate conservative should not have a problem with feeding women and children.

The Land of Galt schtick is already a month or so old. You're late to the party Huntsy. Remember to drink responsibly.

I see that our two favorite trollies are up bright and early today, ready to smell the mushrooms in their basements. Kool-aid at the ready.

John Galt Lives and they know not where. Keep a look out "boys" especially over your shoulder.

"Who is John Galt"

It's the early troll that gets the something Teddi :)

Western Canada speaks as one,

( We will take the North with us, because Quebec and Ontario can't 'afford' to defend themselves, we'll have to do it for them)

I have a mental picture of SQ as being over 55, quite overweight, very little hair left, bad teeth, old-style glasses, and mismatched socks. I have a mental picture of Stereo as a younger version of SQ but without the gut and with hair. Same bad teeth, though.

But I could be wrong - both could be highly intelligent, classy, handsome, well-dressed, highly educated and intellectual types. But I could be wrong about that, too.

What I do know is that both of them will reject, à la Layton, anything that Hunter says simply because Hunter is a woman and a Conservative at that. Hunter could say that the sun is rising in the east and both of these would turn her statement into something that they'd ridicule. The two of them are like a low-rent Gayle.

So justice reforms will lead us out of the economic crisis?

Wow.

Southern Quebec said...

Gayle: The tough on crime crowd believes that the more people you lock up, the safer we are. The cost? What cost? We can build more prisons, then people will have jobs.

I understand that SQ. The fact that there is not one shred of evidence to support that notion will not sway them.

I do wonder how Wilson thinks that is going to pull us out of an economic crisis, however. Seems to me the only connection between punishment and our economy is that the costs of implementing a tough on crime policy will be prohibitive.

When Wilson talks tough, he gets to swagger. Man doesn't get much chance to swagger with all these metrosexuals around. :)

Maybe Wilson would like to talk about FoxNews and the Canadian Forces?

I continue to respect and follow Hunter's policy of not engaging in ad hominem attacks on the other commenters. This thread is another shining example that again, demonstrates exactly who is the first instigator most of the time.

Have a great day!

Hey Huntsy, somethun's been bothering me about your post - and I'll share it with you so you don't think I'm rejecting what you've written without thinking about it. At the end of your post you say:

We call Alberta "God's Country", maybe it should be renamed to "Galt Country"!

Does that mean you're moving over to Ayn Rand's views on religion? Or are you into John Galt because it's trendy?

355 Hespeler Road, Cambridge Ontario.

The last nine comments are from lefties talking to themselves. Maybe you kids can start your own mutual adoration society and go play on your own side of the street.

Must be boring to be a lefty as you seem to spend so much time over here. I think I hear your Mom's calling, time to go upstairs for dinner.

The book Atlas Shrugged will never be out of date. You see the ideas are as relevant today as they were years ago when I first read the book.

It's the liberal/socialist thinking that has gone stale. Why else is Ontario doing so bad? Liberal thinking leads to an unproductive society that thinks the government owes them a living. Look at all the special interest groups that suck off the public teat, then look at who runs them, lefties.

Misty-roo ... best you rewind your youtube link and listen again to what Ayn Rand really said. Me suspects your premise is wrong and your should check it again.

Or better still re-read some of her books ... me thinks you need an intellectual break!!

Re: "Me suspects your premise is wrong and your should check it again."

Why don't you lay your suspicions on me Ted? I asked Huntsy if she shared Rand's views on religion or if she
was just being trendy. What part of my 'premise' are you talking about?

West Coast Teddi said...

And I asked that your review Rand's views on religion. Me thinks it's not what you think ...

hunter said...

Misty-Roo, I like that WCT!

Misty-Roo, I could care less what Ayn Rand thought about religion. I see you lefties think bashing Christians is fair game. You ASSume that we can not be religious and intelligent.

My religious beliefs have no impact on my enjoying Atlas Shrugged.

By the way, have any of you lefties actually read the book?

Anonymous said...

Ted, as I never said what I think about Ayn Rand's or Huntsy's religious views - how do you conclude a) that my premise is wrong b)that I think bashing Christians is fair game or c)that I assume you cannot be religious and intelligent?

Re:"My religious beliefs have no impact on my enjoying Atlas Shrugged. "

Is that you Mr. Goodyear?

I prefer Fountainhead if you must know.
