Question Period: Liberal MP Supports Tamil

It's long been known that Liberal MP's support the Tamil Tigers, like this report:

Liberal MPs mark Tamil Tiger's death

BILL CURRY

From Tuesday's Globe and Mail
Liberal MPs took part in a community event last night commemorating the recent death of a senior member of the Tamil Tigers in defiance of the Conservative government's decision to list the organization as a terrorist entity. S. P. Thamilselvan, 40, the public face of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, was killed in an air strike by Sri Lankan authorities last Friday.

Today, another Liberal MP showed his support, as Tamil Tiger flags waved in front of his face. Remember the Liberals refused to declare the Tamil Tigers as a terrorist organization even though the Americans and others had. It took the Conservatives to declare them terrorists, and try to help Tamil immigrants who were being threatened and blackmailed into supporting terrorists. But the Liberals and their media try to make it seem normal. Not buying it!

What is happening to the Liberal party? They are supporting terrorists, they want killers like Khadr home, they want Newfoundland to separate, and they want to stop the seal hunt. I wonder how many Liberals are yearning for Dion, at least he was picked by the party to represent them and he had integrity, not like Iggy who won because the backroom boys wanted him as leader.

Maybe the Liberal MP was showing his support for the Tamil Tigers because he needs 400 memberships to keep his seat. Is this a sign of what is to come with the Liberal party? Scary!

The last part of the video is really funny, PM Harper accuses Iggy of sucking and blowing at the same time! Good to see our PM fighting back instead of pleading for support from the lefties.

Prime Minister Harper is the leader of our country, not just the leader of Conservatives, as such he deserves respect. Too bad the media haven't figured that out. They continue to ignore 40% of their clients, no wonder they are going down the tubes.

Now I could be branded a LTTE supporter for what I'm about to write, but I'm not. There are sound reasons the LTTE were never labeled a terrorist organization... They simply do not fit many of the definitions of a terrorist group.

The LTTE aren't your run of the mill terrorist group. They are neither clandestine nor informal. They have a standing army with uniforms, an air force, etc... They hold a large chunk of northern Sri Lanka. However, they also happen to execute terrorist activities inside India and southern Sri Lanka.

That being said, the Sri Lankan government is far from your run of the mill government. They execute terrorist activities inside LTTE held territory, and are strongly suspected of intense prisoner abuse including severely torturing and executing prisoners without trial. They also conduct military activity in the north of the country that would make the recent Gaza offensive look tame.

All things being equal, I don't think you have the knowledge, experience, and perspective to make any kind of statement regarding the LTTE and the civil war in Sri Lanka. That being said, neither do Liberal MPs.

It would sure be nice if everyone calmed the rhetoric down, because nobody really knows what is going on over there. We know even less than we do about Israel/Palestine, and we all know how calm and academic discussions surrounding THAT situation are...

Respect is earned, not given. You sound like the Republical apologists who wanted everyone to unconditionally love Bush by virtue of his election. Would you be saying the same thing about "respecting the PM" if it were a Liberal? Hypothetical, I know, but there is a valuable opportunity for introspection here.

"sucking and blowing at the same time" - How Prime Ministerial...

Pearce - sometimes when you are dealing with idiots - you have to stoop to their level

AG - So it's okay in your mind for the Prime Minister to justify his immaturity? Why not just, you know, act mature? Am I really asking too much? Probably, given the sad sack parliamentarians we're saddled with.

I think suck and blow pretty much sums up Iffy in a 5 second sound bite:

"We’re in a crisis. We’re in a serious crisis. And I would rather err by doing it fast and making the occasional mistake – which then you, the voters, punish us for later – than sitting there saying, ‘Have we got all the boxes ticked?’" Ignatieff, Halifax

Iffy is going to lose this one, he best 'climb down that hill'.

Remember when PMSH said 'the Green Shift would screw Western Canada'?

Best understood 5 second sound bite ever!

Canadians get 'suck & blow', I hope Liberals and their luvin' media use the phrase often in their attacks on PMSH.
It works!

Pearce - 99.9% of the time, Harper is measured, controlled, and mature - the MSM and opposing parties then call him stiff, cold, unfeeling, and of course scary. The man is human.

Really, it was okay for Trudeau to tell somebody to f-off and then LIE about what he said or to give somebody the finger but it's not okay for Harper to occasionally use LPC terminology or to stoop to the LPC level?

Sometimes, taking the high road does not work - those on the low road have bent necks and backs and can't look up to the high road so we have to get down there in the muck with them.

40%? Taking liberties with numbers again? I recall you ignoring the stats not long ago and stating we're not really in recession. Your credibility as a reliable pundit is laughable.

What are the polls telling us these days? I can tell you with certainty that 40% of Canadians will not vote Conservative next time.

The office of PM may deserve respect but rest assured that Harper gets NO respect from me and millions of other Canadians.

His days are numbered. Thankfully.

Yes, Martin. millions of Canadians are like you and do not respect our PM. But, Martin, more millions of Canadians DO respect our PM and that is why he is PM and not Ignatieff or Layton.

We could also say that millions of Canadians did not respect Trudeau and Chrétien but obviously enough did in order for them to be elected.

So, Martin, that part of your comment is pretty much irrelevant.

Trent..the LTTE was labeled a terrorist organization by the Canadian govt, and that's all that counts.

I am sure they came to that conclusion in good faith, and after due diligence was done.
