The Lighter Side of PM Harper.

PM Harper is really getting into the swing of being our Prime Minister. He is showing his sense of humour, and he is quite funny. See for yourself.

PM Harper is a warm, compassionate Canadian, who cares about our families, and as a bonus, he can be funny. The opposition have been reduced to blasting him on his looks not his policy. They think Christians can't believe in evolution because lefties are too myopic to see both sides of any issue. They think it's a bad thing to go to a meeting of hunters and anglers, because those guys have guns, and we all know that guns are the problem, not criminals.

Lefties are shallow. They are followers, not leaders. I want you to watch this very painful video because it shows better than I ever could, your typical lefty thinker. I saw it years ago, but it stuck with me. Every time I drive through the area in Edmonton that elected an NDP MP, this is what comes to mind.

The video is painful to watch because this guy really believes he knows what he is talking about, and doesn't realize how he appears to other people. That is as polite as I can be in describing the video. You decide, is he the typical NDP supporter?

PS: Is he or isn't he???

Compare the two photos and you decide. Personally I don't care, but the opposition has no policies so they are sure to pick up on this shortly.

You are correct. Stephen is a good man and his policies are certainly better than what we have had in the past. Stephen is a true conservative. His policies and comments support this. He is hampered by not holding a majority. He deserves our support.

Liberalism is a non-thinking, default position. Conservatism requires applied thought.

"Is he or isn't he???"

Do you mean graying naturally? Or do you mean dyeing his hair? Or using hair spray?

I've seen all of the above hinted, and think it's all silly gossip. If he is graying naturally, it's only normal, since he turns 50 this April, and the burden of being the PM is enough to turn anyone's hair gray.

If he is dyeing his hair (I've even seen one Harper hater suggest he dyes his hair gray to give him gravitas) I can't blame him, since so many people unfortunately focus on appearance rather than policy.

The two pictures, IMO, prove nothing one way or another. I think it's a question of lighting - his hair looks lighter in one picture probably because of the light shining upon his head.

IMO, it's silly of his critics to focus on PM Harper's hair or his weight, just as it is to focus on Ignatieff's eyebrows.

HArper is a mean-spirited attack dog. His campaign style is ruthless and he will destroy any mans reputation for poloitical gain (ie claiming that Paul Martin liked child porn).

The way he does business is despicable.

Right On...what planest are you on? HArper is a true conservative Ha ha ha Was the last budget a "true conservative" budget? Is hammering energy income trusts in Alberta with a $30 billion loss a "true conservative" position? Appointed senators?

Harper has utterly lost his way and is no conservative.

Didn't you just mock Jane Taber for her make-up the other day? Give it up. This blog becomes more juvenile everyday.

Seems I hit a lefty nerve!

Gabby, that's my point. When people are reduced to asking our MP's what their religion is, or discussing whether PM Harper is dyeing his hair, you know they have no legitimate points to make.

It's those liberal red ties that he keeps wearing.Conservative wear blue.

Hunter, Gary Goodyear is the SCIENCE minister, not the minister of religion. I really don't think it's appropriate to have the science minister believe that the world is 6000 years old, do you?

I also don't care what colour HRH PMSH hair is. How superficial can you get? Oh, wait, didn't you just call Jane Taber some nasty names? IOKIYAC

Kinda reminds me of “Comrade Zero” without his teleprompter.

Now, as far as TwitPatriot's two bit, half baked, totally imbecilic
Comment @ 7:40 goes.

You say: “HArper is a mean-spirited attack dog. His campaign style is ruthless and he will destroy any mans reputation for poloitical gain”

I say : “You said that as if it’s a bad thing! After all, one must fight fire with fire. I can hardly wait until the Conservatives begin to inform Canadians about that carpet bagging
Iffy is really all about. It’s gonna be fun!! Especially when the squealing pigs in the PPG and the toronto media try to do everything they can to defend and deflect the truth about their beloved “Count Iffy of the Principality of Quackademica”.
Now, about you’re second comment Twit. It’s as bigger loser than your first. Way to go !!

Lastly, we have Jeff Davidson. My recommendation is for him to change his name to something more appropriate , like say “Less Davidson”, or at least he could bless us all with less Davidson.

"I really don't think it's appropriate to have the science minister believe that the world is 6000 years old, do you?"

Southern Quebec, Min. Goodyear did NOT say he believed in creationism as you claim. Perhaps you've been listening to or reading Warren Kinsella's fiction.

Here's the Globe & Mail report that started the whole kerfuffle, in case you missed it (link at David Akin's blog):
«"I'm not going to answer that question. I am a Christian, and I don't think anybody asking a question about my religion is appropriate," Gary Goodyear, the federal Minister of State for Science and Technology, said in an interview with The Globe and Mail.

"Obviously, I have a background that supports the fact I have read the science on muscle physiology and neural chemistry," said the minister, who took chemistry and physics courses as an undergraduate at the University of Waterloo.

"I do believe that just because you can't see it under a microscope doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It could mean we don't have a powerful enough microscope yet. So I'm not fussy on this business that we already know everything. ... I think we need to recognize that we don't know."»

Did you object when these two Liberals, whose credentials were not science related, headed that same ministry?
• Maurizio Bevilacqua (2002) attended Emery Collegiate and received a Bachelor of Arts from York University.
• Ron Duhamel (1997) obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) from Lakehead University and a Master of Arts (MA) and ph.D.
Was the same question asked of those two previous ministers? Probably not.
As we say in Quebec: "deux poids, deux mesures" (double standard).

Explain why your comments about Taber were appropriate. She doesn't deserve the same respect that you expect others to afford PM Harper?

That's a little hypocritical isn't it? It has nothing to do with you touching any particular nerve.I read your blog for comic relief mainly, however, you could at least pretend to be consistent and occasionally honest.

I was wondering if you cared to comment about the latest Nanos poll? Does it worry you at all or do you still believe Harper will PM forever and ever cuz he's so dreamy and stuff?

Gabby in QC said...

"Seems I hit a lefty nerve!"
I hope you're not referring to me! ;-)

However, I must admit Jeff Davidson makes a legitimate point about your and my criticism of Jane Taber's appearance in that previous thread. I admit I'm guilty of it, justifying my criticism because of JT's lack of serious journalistic analysis.

I do not apologize for criticizing JT's appearance, simply because at times critics need to get some of the same medicine they use on others.
When Jane Taber stops using her juvenile cheers/jeers and hot/not gossipy columns, as well as her cheerleading for the Liberals instead of living up to her title of "Senior Ottawa Parliamentary Writer" for the Globe and Mail, then I will stop commenting on her appearance and her presentation.

I remember the Politics panel laughing at PM Harper's wardrobe when he attended a "3 amigos" conference dressed in a fishing vest. I fired off an email to the moderator on his questionable sartorial choices and his unhygienic habit of putting the "arms" of his glasses in his mouth.

Journalists themselves have lowered the level of political discourse, and we bloggers (myself included) don't necessarily help to raise the level of discourse. Mea culpa. I wish it were different, but sometimes one has to fight fire with fire.

''She (Jane Tabloid) doesn't deserve the same respect that you expect others to afford PM Harper?''

SHE deserves the same respect SHE extends to PMSH.
And that is the level of respect SHE is shown here, none.

Jeff ... you failed to detect the irony in Hunter's post about Jane Tabor. Hunter was using the "liberal MSM" methodology of reporting on the "news". Slam the looks/appearance/party and not the content. You are absolutely correct when you stated that there was a hypocritical aspect to the post, BUT, that is the point.

As for SQ ... " God made heaven and earth" and NOW it is up to you to find out "scientifically" how he did it. Remember to observe with your eyes (the ones on either side of your nose and not the bottom end hole that you usually spew through).

wilson said...

It was glaringly obvious today on QP that CTV has gone all Iffy all the time.
IMO that is the only attack ad PMSH needs to get his majority.
Shine a very bright light on the rookie American parachutist,
what do you see?....LOL

The Quebec media is calling him on it! "you are asking Quebecers to sign a blank cheque, where are your policies?" they ask.
Ahh, umm, oooh, let's be friends first before we talk policy, Iffy says....iffy iffy iffy.

wilson said...

Anyone else notice how very relaxed PMSH is these days, the last week especially?

Southern Quebec said...

«"I'm not going to answer that question. I am a Christian, and I don't think anybody asking a question about my religion is appropriate"

Nobody was asking about his religion. He was asked about his commitment to the theory of evolution. He got his little Christian knickers in a knot right away. Keep the fundies away from the sciences.

" God made heaven and earth"
Prove it.

SQ - science regarding the creation of our universe is theory - none of it has ever been proven to be probably true (statistic lingo). Anything which explains the creation of our universe is theory or belief. People like myself have our beliefs but, at the same time, give credence to science. Goodyear's religious beliefs have nothing to do with his capability as a Minister. Very few Ministers actually have education or backgrounds in their ministries - that's a fact, not a theory. Ministers are basically talking heads and, frankly, I don't know why we need them because any policy comes from so-called policy experts who tell the Minister what to say or to sign. So, Goodyear's faith is a totally moot point and the question should not have been asked - it was simply an attack to discredit him by a biased media person.

Jane Tabor does not deserve respect. After the way she went at that new Senator (can't remember his name) about his domestic issues with the mother of his child, she deserves nothing. She is making her "journalism" personal when it concerns Conservatives so, although not high-brow, we cannot be condemned for making personal cracks at her - she opened the door and some of us walk through it.

As for Harper's hair colour - who cares? Ignatieff's eyebrows? Couldn't care less but his people do care - that is why he was instructed to trim them (he said so in a MacLean's interview a while back).

The media likes to paint Liberals as gods - good grief, the media used to call Trudeau HANDSOME. Like heck. He was incredibly homely, but he had money, was a Liberal, and he was eloquent. Therefore, he was gorgeous, according to the MSM at the time. If looks count, then John Turner should have been the greatest PM we ever had - but the media, for some reason, didn't like him.

I could not watch the second video - that guy was just too incredible. I cannot imagine that anybody could think like that but...I guess it takes all kinds.

Harper did not say that Paul Martin liked child porn. Perhaps you'd like to tell the entire story, GP. As far as being an attack dog, Harper played fair for a long time but the Liberals went way too far with their attacks - totally unfounded, slanderous and libelous lies. The Liberals began the fight and Harper finally had enough and is fighting back. The Liberals took our politics to a new low - a low that was so far down that they could not see the high road on which Harper was standing. Therefore, in order to control the vermin in the ditch, Harper had to get down there with his flame thrower. Anything the Liberals are getting from Harper is deserved.

As far as the Budget - yes it is not a Conservative budget but our PM had no choice. The Liberals were poised, along with their unholy alliance partners, to bring down the government and disrupt the lives of Canadians all for political gain. Harper had no choice but to remove the weapon from Ignatieff's hands. To be honest, I doubt very much if Ignatieff is remotely willing to get in bed with Layton unless it will be a big payoff. Ignatieff is a one-man show and I can see where he's headed. So, don't condemn Harper for this budget - it's Ignaieff's fault. Period.

East of E: I could care less about Goodyear's religion -- even if he was a Pastafarian. What bothers me is that the Science Minister does not come right out and say, "Hey, Darwin rocks! Of course evolution is true." He came out and said something to the effect, "We are all evolving." Not the same thing.

And it was Hunter who brought up the nonsense about Dear Leader hair.

West Coast Teddi said...

SQ ... don't need to. It's up to you to disprove it. Of course you again have shown that you didn't think and/or understand the comment, but then that is your issue not mine.

Continue on in the basement of life!

What! He should have sworn on a bible that he "committed" to the theory of evolution?

Is that a religion in which its adherents eat only pasta?

"Every time I drive through the area in Edmonton that elected an NDP MP, this is what comes to mind."

You mean that area that is largely populated with university professors and business professionals, in addition to students, hard working families with children and other typical voters?

You need to get out more.

"When Jane Taber stops using her juvenile cheers/jeers and hot/not gossipy columns, as well as her cheerleading for the Liberals instead of living up to her title of "Senior Ottawa Parliamentary Writer" for the Globe and Mail, then I will stop commenting on her appearance and her presentation."

Yes, because your conduct his her responsibility.

Whatever happened to taking responsibility for your own actions. I thought you conservative types were all about doing that.

Here's a suggestion: since you admit you were wrong to attack her appearance, why don't you just stop attacking her appearance? If you have a legitimate argument about her conduct surely you can mount that argument without bringing her appearance into the equation?

hunter said...

Gayle, I for one think an eye for an eye is fair game, it's lefties who have a problem with getting called on their smears. It's okay for them to call PM Harper fat, but don't you Conservatives DARE fight back. BS!

Remember Harper's cowboy outfit? The media had a feeding frenzy with that one. So if you do not like the fact that I pointed out that Jane Taber was looking haggard, and I had the pictures and video to prove it, too bad.

Oh, university professors are lefty nutbars, as Linda Duncan proves. That video of an NDP supporter living in his Moms house is in fact what the NDP supporters I have met are like. If you bothered to watch it, it will stick with you for a very long time. Wait until I post his video on the Afghanistan war, it's a real treat!

Gabby in QC said...

"Yes, because your conduct his her responsibility."
Huh? Rewrite needed here.

Gayle, at least I have the good grace to admit my criticism of Jane Taber is not completely justifiable.

You, OTOH ... needless to say, your scolding is misplaced, if not downright hypocritical.

BTW, we really must stop meeting like this ...

Hey Hunter, I always thought Gayle WAS Linda Duncan!

Gayle said...

Hunter - I live in Linda Duncan's riding, as you probably know.

The part of the riding I live in is largely populated by university professors and wealthy business people (sorry, but it is true). Her signs were on the lawns of both - and as much as you want to believe otherwise, I really doubt they were there only at the behest of their adult children.

You cannot justify your gross generalizations by claiming "lefties do it too".

Again - take responsibility for your own actions. Stop blaming others for your behaviour. That is, after all, what you conservatives say you stand for, is it not?
