Torture Liberal Style!

So many mixed messages, such looney times. I can't keep up with all the protests for Tamil terrorists, and against ex-Preidents, and let's not even mention global warming! Still the lefties are doing what they know best....nothing but protest. Has Gore ever actually planted a tree? Why did an anti-police brutality protest turn violent? Should pre-kindergarten kids be used in a protest? Do any of these people work?

Let's compare and contrast some of the news these days.

First up here in Canada, the lefties are gearing up to protest against GW Bush. What did he do? Sent his troops into combat because of 9/11, but hey, don't let over 3000 innocent people killed by terrorists stop you lefties, Bush....he's the problem.

Over the weekend, activists held a mock trial and found Mr. Bush guilty of committing war crimes and urged authorities to arrest him when he steps foot on Canadian soil.

A group of lawyers had previously written to Canadian officials including Prime Minister Stephen Harper asking that Mr. Bush be barred from visiting Canada in light of crimes allegedly committed in Afghanistan, Iraq and Guantanamo Bay.

Lawyers Against The War allege that Mr. Bush “is a person credibly accused of torture and other gross human rights violations, crimes against humanity and war crimes” and ask for permission to prosecute him.

Torture they scream! Crimes against humanity! War Crimes! Yes I agree, but it's not GW Bush that's the problem.

Many dead in Taliban Kabul attacks

Up to ten gunmen wearing suicide bomb vests and armed with assault rifles stormed two heavily-guarded government buildings; an attack on a third site was thwarted after police shot dead a lone militant.

A Taliban spokesman said the attacks - which bore similarities to the recent militant assault on the Indian city of Mumbai - were carried out in protest at the treatment of Taliban prisoners.

Because of the treatment of Taliban prisoners they killed 20 people? Let's see that torture....

The International Committee of the Red Cross concluded in a secret report that the Bush administration's treatment of Al Qaeda captives in CIA prisons "constituted torture," The Washington Post reported on Monday.....

One incident is described by Abu Zubaydah, a Palestinian man who ran Al Qaeda recruitment. Zubaydah said in the weeks after he was captured, he was shackled naked while listening to consistent music or static. He also says he had limited nourishment and was not allowed to sleep.

What! No beheading? No acid in the face? No hanging? He didn't get to eat and sleep when he wanted to, such torture! Well let's just release that poor innocent guy and let him become a model citizen, like this one:

Officials: Taliban's New Top Operations Officer Is Former Guantanamo Bay Detainee

U.S. authorities handed over the detainee to the Afghan government, which in turn released him, according to Pentagon and CIA officials.

Abdullah Ghulam Rasoul, formerly Guantanamo prisoner No. 008, was among 13 Afghan prisoners released to the Afghan government in December 2007. Rasoul is now known as Mullah Abdullah Zakir, a nom de guerre that Pentagon and intelligence officials say is used by a Taliban leader who is in charge of operations against U.S. and Afghan forces in southern Afghanistan.

Southern Afghanistan, isn't that where our Canadian troops are? Nice, maybe Khadr can join this guy soon, and our troops can return them to their families.

Oh, and the mysteriously leaked Red Cross document on torture? I have to ask, who is monitoring the Red Cross? Look at their history, by their own definition of torture, they are also guilty of it.

For example, during the Great 1927 Flood that destroyed large parts of the Mississippi Delta and Louisiana, Black farm laborers and sharecroppers without a doubt suffered the most. As John Barry documents in his epic history of the flood, Rising Tide, delta plantation owners refused to evacuate them out of the region for fear--rightly--that most wouldn't return to their miserable, slave-like conditions.

The Red Cross came in to provide temporary housing and food aid. What African Americans of the Delta got was prison-like camps where they were routinely beaten by white, racist National Guardsmen. Food distributed by the Red Cross was given to whites first, and if anything was left, it went to Black survivors.

In recent years, the image of the Red Cross has been tarnished. The worst scandal came after the September 11 attacks, when it was revealed that a large portion of the hundreds of millions of dollars donated to the organization went not to survivors or family members of those killed, but to other Red Cross operations, in what was described by chapters across the country as a "bait-and-switch" operation.

Can lefties get anymore ridiculous? Protests of naked people rolling in fake blood to save some seals? That is lefty reality. The dying media has been trumpeting these people, maybe that's why the industry is dying. You think?

The greatest torture the cdn red cross pulled on all cdn families was the tainted blood scandal. Couldn't refuse blood from gays as it might be considered wrong. And buying blood from american prisoners via Bill Clinton- wrong.
How many canadians did the red cross kill with that, compared to how many have died at gitmo. I have not/nor will ever again donate to them since that boondoggle.

Facts Hunter, facts. Sending "his" troops into Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. The 9/11 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia. At least be honest. Mr. Bush should be on trial in The Hague.

Given that the odds of Bush ever being tried at The Hague, I don't know why he is being protested. LBJ was never tried and that man was a butcher not only of the Viet Namese people but of his own Americans. I will agree that Bush's motivation for the Iraq war had nothing to do with 9/11 and everything to do with avenging his father and getting his hands on Iraqi oil but to put him on trial? Not in this lifetime.

Bush is gone, thankfully. Unfortunately, the American people voted him in for a second term so there is nothing to protest - they chose the guy so they can live with the consequences.

Ontario is in a similar situation - we love to bitch about McGuinty but the guy has had two majority governments and will most likely have a third.

I say - live with your choices and move forward.

The protests planned against Mr Bush would never have been permitted in either Afghanistan or Iraq, pre 9/11.
So although I hope we get a cold north wind here in Calgary to freeze their little butts, I do respect their right, to make fools of themselves.
I wonder where these same people were, when women and little girls were being raped and attacked, in Afghanistan.
As for Iraq, I do think he blew it but I don't think it was intentional. Having said that, Hussein, was a monster and no one can predict what 2009 would look like, with him still in it.
GWB, has kept the US safe for 8 years and I think history will be somewhat kinder than present.

I agree with E of E that in terms of tit-for-tat, where the heck are the cries of jailing LBJ for that clusterbleep known as the 'Veitnam conflict'? Oh yeah, he was a Democrat President.

The way Obama was campaigning I was all but convinced the last soldier in Iraq would be bording the transport plane just as Obambi was wrapping up his inaugural address. What's that sound SQ? Could it be soldiers killing 'innocents' under the command of B. Hussein Obama? Oh, the horror!

Funny how these rent-a-protesters all look the same. It's the same crowd at every event, be it an anit-globalization, anti Conservative government or anti-SUV demonstration. From the little tiny goatees and wool touques of the effeminate males to the hairly legged Birkenstock wearing, brush cuts of the man-women, it's almost as though they have uniforms, just like the army!

Yesirie, celebrate diversity by all dressing alike.

Hussein was a creation of American foreign policy. Do you understand that?

How can you make such a bogus argument? He was president when they were attacked. Did you miss this?

EofE - McGinty is not responsible for people being killed.

Just because someone is truly evil (Hussein, Mugabe, etc) does not mean you can attack their country and kill innocent people.

Sounds like S.Q. would have preferred the western world stayed home for both world wars, at the risk of killing innocent people who were already being killed by thier evil leaders. Good grief.

Regarding 9/11, Bush was early into his first term at the time of the attack. Tell me S.Q., if New York City would be hit today by a dirty nuke or something else that killed 3000+ people, would you be as quick to denounce B. Hussein Obama, because the country is now under HIS watch, or would you tuck tail and continue your love affair with the (self)annointed One?

"Hussein was a creation of American foreign policy. Do you understand that?"

Hussein was the lesser of two evils when the U.S. was at odds with Iran.

Jimmy Carter chose to abandon a somewhat moderate Shaw of Iran and when the Ayatolah took over we saw the spawn of radical Islam in this area of the Middle East.

It's called history, Martin. Read some of it sometime, not the dilusional swill of 9/11 'Truthers', anarchist blogs and the treasonist mainstream media.

SQ - when you toss in something silly like McGuinty didn't kill people, your whole argument falls flat on its face. I've told you many times that your diversionary tactics won't work. If you wish to make a valid point, make it, but stop please please please playing silly little games. You really make yourself look terribly inadequate.

Now, either you deliberatly avoided the very obvious point I was making or you are incredibly stupid. Which is it, SQ? It's one or the other. Take your pick. I'm inclined to think that you cannot possibly be that stupid so I can logically conclude that you are playing a silly little childish game.

Hey Eskimo - speaking of rent-a-protester, I haven't seen a thing of Jaggi Singh in the last year or so. Did the guy finally grow up and develop a brain? There was a total loser - couldn't make it in life so he decided to be a professional protester.

Anonymous said...

Oh yes, Jiggy Jaggi Singh. I think he really thought he was more important than he really is (was). Reminds of George Stombo-whats-his-nuts from the CBC, without all the excessive facial hardware of course.

Ever since Tooker Gomberg went missing, the radical anarchists and envirwhackos who usually take part in the 'die in' protests at City Hall are really without a leader. (Thank God).

Heh, remember when the Tookster (or is it Toke-ster?) got in trouble for composting in his office when he was and Edmonton City Counsillor? Yep, he had a worm farm going on his credenza! He couln't be content with an aquarium full of Sea Monkeys, he had to bring in earthworms and garbage eating slugs!

I kind of miss the little troll. He was so easy to mock, but being he's 'assumed dead' I think I should back off a little!

SQ,

Yes.

What's your point?

Bec said...

Hey gallant defenders, thank you!

SQ,a busy day, I stand corrected. I should have qualified it with Jan 2001-Jan 2009 =8 years. 9/11 happened in Sept so I stand corrected by 8 months+ a few days.

Whoops....you are so clever, SQ.

Let's examine the terrorist attacks under the Clinton administration, shall we?

The Twin Towers,USS Cole, Black Hawk Down, the 1998 U.S.embassy bombings in simultaneous car bomb explosions at the United States embassies in the East African capital cities of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and Nairobi, Kenya, the 1996 Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia.

So SQ, that was my point.
Billy cigar-bob, had Osama and dropped the ball.
No one is perfect unlike you of course.

"E of E -- You were the one that brought up McGinty not me..."

Once again, a totally pointless and nonsensical reply. SQ, I really do wonder if you ever engage that grey matter within that thing that sits on your shoulders. Give it a try some day. I'm beginning to wonder about your mental age and you have the gall to question Eskimo? Good grief, your logic is reminiscent of that of a two year-old.

Hey, that just reminded me of something a little one would say: "but, Dad, Billy jumped off the cliff so why won't you let me do it".
