The All Important Female Vote!
I never knew my vote was more important than my husbands, but according to recent polls, it appears that it is, go figure! Last federal election both the Liberals and NDP had female quotas. The NDP in BC think that not only do women need special treatment but special interest groups do as well. Where will it end? Are they saying that women are weak, disadvantaged and different than men? Or are they saying that we are in need of special consideration? Whatever it is they are trying to accomplish, so far, it's done nothing but insult females.
I would not want special accommodations made for me because I am a female. Taking away a person's ability to compete in a fair fight, is like cheating on an exam, you get something you didn't deserve. It takes away your self esteem.
If females are so important as voters, the way to win their votes is not necessarily by appointing more female candidates, that's actually counter productive, it elevates females above males just because they are female. We are always hearing about how urban females never vote Conservative, yet they often fail to mention that rural females tend to vote Conservative. So, not only are female voters important, but they even break it down into urban and rural female voters. Polling firms will inform their clients that they need to cater to the urban female voters because there are more of them. Wow, now as a female urban voter my vote is worth even more! Who knew!
Hold it, I also belong to a union, yikes, I'm a really, really valuable voter now. Funny how they write off the western votes because we have so few seats, but think the Liberals are surging in Quebec with 25% of the potential vote, so what ridings might those be in and will it translate into actual new MP's?
As Joanne at Blue Like You asks, did the Liberals goof with Iggy?
He sure doesn't appeal to me, and as I am told by the MSM and my trolls, as a female, I am too dumb to understand the issues, I will just mindlessly vote for a female, because, well, I'm a female, urban, union voter.
Rural women vote Conservative because they understand what it means to be independent. I would love to see some of those feminists who scream for daycare live on a farm for just one week. Try getting up at 6 in the morning in 30 below weather to milk the cows and slop the pigs, because the animals are your livelihood. Throw in Suzuki and things could get really interesting down on the farm.
The all important female vote, worth more because.... well, we are told it is so!

"Rural women vote Conservative because they understand what it means to be independent."
I'm rural and I'm independent (I work for myself -- no union cushy job here!) but I don't vote Conservative. I don't understand how you can make this statement.
Living in the rural areas means you depend on your neighbours and the community for the extra help.
Want a rink? Fund raise. Need a sitter, call around.
Each family is part of the larger family.
Living in the urban centers, people become detached from their community as a whole.
There is an expectation that the government fills in the void, not your community.
It's more about where you live in the city, than who you are.
Then, where you live becomes who you are.
Dippers use to have a large rural vote, until they went chasing the urban special interest vote.
Now they are in a struggle to hold onto either.
Urban and rural, East and West, the differences are huge,
and the bridges are few and far between.
IMO, PMSH has built those bridges.
'Freedom, Family and Faith'
sums up being a Conservative.
The 3 F's cross urban, rural, East and West divisions and will be what keeps our country united.
SQ , why is it that everything you write sounds suspect?
It’s because all Left –Lib supporter believe the truth is flexible enough to support whatever they deem to be in their interests and opinions.
BC I am in a rural area that is decidely Liberal -- could not find a CPOC supporter if you swung a cow. So you can see why I am a little suspect, when Hunter makes these all encompassing comments. We are way independent here, we just don't vote Conservative.
Wilson, for Pete's sake, take a breather. Everyone gets it. You like Harper.
Just had a horrible thought...what if Harper isn't PM forever and ever?
News flash- Iggy may be drawing crowds to hear him speak but they are, for the most part, tire kicking.
Friends went to see him here in kamloops and found him entertaining but have no intention of voting Liberal.
As for SQ I would imagine many who you say would never vote conservative would never tell you if they did. Strong opinions such as yours tend to get voiced and people steer away from discussing politics.
I was born and raised in rural Quebec and know that what people tell you to your face about voting is usually never what they do. Cheers.
I'm a suburban gal now, but where I grew up - rural Saskatchewan - you would have to drive 100 miles past hundreds of cows to get a sideways glimpse of a lonely Liberal voter skulking in the shadows trying to be anonymous.
We all know Quebec is a different animal. I would wager the majority of rural women don't mark their X's beside the Lib candidate. In the rural West, they would rather cut off their hand than do that. Remember "Corner Gas" and how they all spit when someone mentioned that "other" town? Well mention Liberal in rural parts and you get the same response.
And SQ, voting for big government (Liberals) doesn't really qualify you as being independent-minded or independent-thinking. You want the status quo re Quebec getting taken care of by everyone else and having every squeal met, so that's why you vote Liberal.
It may be politically incorrect to say these things, but Canadians have turned the cheek for way too long about this.
And yet somehow, our country has been governed by the Liberal Party of Canada for the majority of it's existence.
Obviously someone's been voting Liberal. For quite a long while, the divide between rural and urban wasn't nearly as pronounced. In fact, rural voters outnumbered urban voters not so long ago. I guess rural voters elected Liberals too.
The thing is though, urban voters far outnumber rural voters these days. This conservative blip won't last forever.
Martin, this is a Conservative blog.
What are you looking for here?
Cons fearing losing the election, attacks on PMSH?
'Freedom, Family and Faith'
ARE the bridges built by PMSH.
I'm waiting for Iffy to parrot those words, as if it was his idea.
coming to a bookstore near you!
'This conservative blip won't last forever.'
martin
This 'blip' was built up from 2 PC seats and 0 Reform seats.
The Liberal reign was unopposed for a decade, and once opposed,
the Libs purchased the Dippers 'special interest vote'. to stay alive..
So now this 'blip' sees the Liberals desperate enough to stop this 'blip',
they toss out their lefty, Dion, and install a Bush/Iraq/torture approving American plant as leader.
I guess Liberals are trying to match this 'blip' with a blip of their own.
Yeah Martin, but Adscam changed things. And it appears that arrogant Liberal politicians haven't learned a damn thing. They can't wait to get their greedy mitts on brown paper bags full of $$ again. And it's basically Quebec and Ontario that determine elections, rightly or leftly (wrongly). Liberals conjure all sorts of ghastly images to rural westerners.
Don't forget recent history - Chretien faced a divided right wing. He had an easy ride.
'Freedom, Family and Faith'
ARE the bridges built by PMSH. Nonsense Wilson. Our freedom was somehow secured by Harper? Government has NO business messing with family. Finally, faith is a personal matter and not the concern of any government. Keep talking though. Your so-con rhetoric may fly here but the rest of us see through it.
Poor Martin and SQ they have to come here day after day because deep in their hearts they understand that Conservatives are the ones with the right policies.
I never visit lefty sites, I have no need to because I am not conflicted about my voting choice. So why do lefties feel the need to come here? To enlighten us?
If family and faith are not important than you lead a very desperate life.
'Our freedom was somehow secured by Harper?'
Our freedom was secured by our brave military, many years ago.
The Decade of Darkness under Liberal rule is no more,
yes, thanks to PMSH.
And here I will give some credit to Martin,
he tried to turn things around, but didn't get the financial backing he needed, because it offended the Dippers.
'Government has NO business messing with family.'
You'll have to elaborate Martin. I have no idea what you're talking about.
'faith is a personal matter and not the concern of any government'
Well that flies in the face of your next statement, doesn't it...
and explain then, the attacks from LibDippers on Con MPs, oh and Stockwell Day.
'Your so-con rhetoric may fly here but the rest of us see through it.'
LOL
I go to church for weddings and funerals. No so-con here Martin.
I practice freedom of religion, other peoples right to worship or not.
I practice freedom of choice,
other women's right to choose to have or not have an abortion.
I am more Liberal than the Liberals,
that's why I vote Conservative,
because to be a Liberal means you have to subscribe to Dipper special interest 'values'.
Hmmmm.....your vote isn't more important that your husbands - BUT it is "equally" important.
I live in rural Canada, and Wilson is full of BS.
Small towns, because of the youth going to school, etc., are getting more knowledgeable and at some point they will vote from what they believe instead of what pappy and grandpappy tell them to do.
Rural women vote conservative because they know what it means to be independant? Good grief what a crock. They are NOT independent in thought in the least.
You are wrong RuralSandi, my vote is more important than my husbands, at least that is what the lefties are telling everybody by forcing ridings to elect a female candidate.
You might be rural, but your attitude is typical lefty....by your own words you declare that rural women are not independent thinkers....why? Because they and their kids are brainwashed! What you mean is that they do not think like you.
LOL RuralSandi.
Are we going to have a 'I'm more rural than you' match.
Ok, I'll go first.
I am a certified AI technician.
Our herd was built from flushed embryos off Goldbar.
Did show and sell champion heifers and bull calves in Agribition.
Item #2
Also formed and lead the first ever 4H club in our community.
Maybe RuralSandi would like to take this opportunity to explain to us
why Ralph Goodale sent 6 Western Canadian farmers to jail.
One of these farmers' crimes was taking feed for his stock to an ag show in the US.
You related to Gordon Wilson? Are you Gordon Wilson?
Nadine, is that you?
Liberals are only interested in urban females. The nose-pierced birkenstock wearing latte sipper feminazis.
The rest of us real women don't count.
SQ - are you a woman? Hunter can make any statement she wishes. And, from what I gather, she is a woman.
"Your so-con rhetoric may fly here but the rest of us see through it."
The rest of us? Of whom are you speaking? That is so typically lefty - it's the left which is always saying "Canadians want" as if they spoke with each and every Canadian. Of course, if the left really knew what Canadians wanted, they'd listen to all Canadians and not just their own kind.
Hunter - thanks for letting in the comedians for a day. Always nice to have a good chuckle.
Wilson - you rock, farm girl. I don't believe that RSandi is rural at all. I believe that she just made that up in order to diss you. How typical. To parrot Gayle - RSandi had nothing to back up her "position" so she resorted to personal attacks. Same for Martin.
Hey, Gayle is useful for one or two things.
"...I would imagine many who you say would never vote conservative would never tell you if they did. Strong opinions such as yours tend to get voiced and people steer away from discussing politics."
You mean like this?:
"In the rural West, they would rather cut off their hand than do that. Remember "Corner Gas" and how they all spit when someone mentioned that "other" town? Well mention Liberal in rural parts and you get the same response."
"Liberals are only interested in urban females. The nose-pierced birkenstock wearing latte sipper feminazis."
And Harper works so hard to win those voters... Or is only bad when the LPC ignores a segment of the female population...?
Sometimes you guys make it too easy.
The good thing is, it's the NDP and the Libs splitting the feminazi vote.
Certain demographics will never change their vote to Conservative, just as certain demographics will never vote Lib or NDP.
Que sera sera, Miss Gayle.
Those birkenstocks a bit too tight, Gayle?
So, in other words, it IS OK for the CPC to ignore some women, but you will whine and complain if you think the LPC are ignoring you.
Got it.
PS - I think you are a little too concerned about appearances and clothing SM. Why, that kind of silly obsession could lead one to think you are superficial.
And that's Ms. Gayle to you.
Too funny - a blogger who calls herself Soccermom, because Harper used Frank Luntz strategy (for Bush it was Securitymoms)...LOL
Wilson - I'm not getting into a who's more rural than the other - you're trying to create this. I'm saying not all rural ladies are conservative and thems the facts.
I'm rural, I'm independant and right now Harper is throwing money around to Cons ridings to keep their vote. So, if you wait long enough, should be shortly, he will give you money for your rink.
And, in my area, we've had an influx of people moving from the cities - that could make quite a change in votes.
NDP used to have quite a lot of support in my area - those folks have gone now to the Green. More and more rural folks are interested in the environment and it's very important to the kids and these kids are talking to their parents.
What is the matter with PMSH giving money to conservative ridings. At least it is not under the table, in brown paper bags for liberals in Quebec. And the money has not been stolen from the taxpayer as the brown bags were full of.
Ms. Gayle? HA!! What is a Ms.?? It's not a Miss, nor a Mrs, it's a nothing feminist label.
As far as the giving money to Conservative ridings, there are 143 Conservative ridings as opposed to 77 Liberal ridings, you do the math. From what I understand most of the money is in cooperation with the provinces, so if Ontario isn't getting its fair share, maybe someone should tell McGuinty to talk to the feds.
Also if this is about vote buying, why wouldn't more money go to opposition ridings? Why spend money in Alberta where they have 70% support, when they could be buying votes in Ontario and Quebec? Typical Liberal thinking, they would be pouring money into their ridings and giving contracts to their Liberal buddies like Power Corp, so they can't understand why Conservatives wouldn't do the same thing.
"What is a Ms.?"
You don't know? Where have you been for the past 30 years?
Oh, good answer Gayle....now, what is a Ms??? Please explain.
Oh my Martin, @ 10:35 am you are walking into the web that one cannot return from, with your statement.
Indeed the, 'hey big spenders' have been in power for much of a century but look at our society.
Are you feeling safe, lucky and rich?
Have you helped societies weakest and if so, why are they still weaker? Why? Well you messed up, that's why.
You took away their will to survive by being a quick fix not an ingrained fix.
You took away human dignity by attempting to solve all their problems but not encouraging, work ethic and by diluting, instinctive pride.
There is not enough room to continue.
We have bullies,dysfunctional families,gangs,rapists,child molesters,drunk drivers,addicted everythings,terrorists,thieves,bankrobbers.....thanks, Martin!
I'd be proud to be Liberal too.
It would be the female equivalent of "Mr"
Why?
OK, I'll bite.....
The female equivelent of Mr. is Mrs. (Sorry, Gayle)
The male equivelent of Miss is Master.
Ms. is the moniker of someone claiming 'victim' status. This was true 30 years ago and it's still true today.
Wow Gayle, you've come a long way, baby.
"Sometimes you guys make it too easy."
We have to make it easy for YOU guys to understand.
PS - I think you are a little too concerned about appearances and clothing SM. Why, that kind of silly obsession could lead one to think you are superficial.
Wow, now who is projecting, Miss Gayle?
A long time ago, I over heard a conversation between two women at my part-time job (I was a university student at the time). One was married to a former teacher of mine and had two children. The other was divorced (husband left her) with two children. The divorced one was chastising the married one for "identifying" herself through her husband and children. Mrs. Married replied by saying that the REALITY of her life was that she was married and did have two children - and thus was not only a woman but also a wife and mother. That was her reality.
Miss Divorded kept on until, losing her patience, Mrs. Married said: "well, at least I didn't mizzz the boat like you did".
At work, our big boss is a married woman who uses Mrs. and not Ms. because she is, indeed, married. I have noticed a trend among some of the next generation who are using their husband's names and calling themselves Mrs.
No matter which honourific is used, it has absolutely nothing to do with actual respect. Just because a woman used Ms. does not mean that I will respect her - respect is on an individual basis and is not determined by an honourific.
I put Ms. right up there with "womyn".
"And that's Ms. Gayle to you."
No surprise there. I hear you are married. Too feminist to use the Mrs.??
