Naughty Not Nice!

You had to know that the media would try to make the Conservative convention into a smear fest, but it appears that they understand that openly smearing the Conservatives who have 38% of the votes in Canada, might hurt their bottom line. They trumpeted the Liberal convention, as if it was the only important thing we Canadians needed to hear about, the Conservative convention, not so much. Guess the Conservatives did not have any condoms for sale.

What little coverage we got was about protesters and how we have shifted to the right.

Now let's look at each issue separately. First the protesters. I hear there were about 2 dozen, but look at the true face they present.

Isn't she a lovely image of what a real protester is all about? Protest, okay, it's your right, but a yelling angry person is not going to sway me to their position.

So, CTV thought 24 protesters were the most important issue to report about the Conservative conference. CBC can report anything they want because they have taxpayer funding and don't have to worry about advertising dollars. CTV should be very careful about their slant on the news, Conservatives might just protest like the lady in the picture. Spend your money wisely.

This one sentence says it all:

One resolution that passed is sure to be controversial, as the Conservatives said they want to create laws for the killing of unborn children.

The Conservatives want to create laws for the killing of unborn children???? Hello CTV.ca News Staff, are you nuts? Did anyone actually READ this story before it was published? We know that CBC is biased, but I find CTV more biased than CBC.

Maybe we should pay attention to who advertises on CTV, maybe they should feel our pain. It's not as if 38% of Canadians can be ignored by the media forever, somehow, sometime, we will be given a fair shake by the media, but until we do, keep your money in your wallet.

CTV gets two thumbs down for not only biased reporting but down right disgusting and blatant snobbery.

Let's start a Christmas list of who advertises on CTV, and mark them as naughty not nice.

I have to wonder how many of these protesters really know what they are protesting. I remember back in the 60s when we protested practically everything - most of us young people protested for the sake of protesting and for something fun to do. I sometimes think that many of the protesters we see are just knee-jerk reacting because protesting the conservatives is the thing to do.

I don't take these folks seriously because I highly doubt if they are fully informed or even if what they are protesting actually affects them.

Is there a face behind that protester's mouth? Wow. Good thing it isn't mosquito season.

Difficult for the media to cover an event they were barred from.

Carlos ... please tell me which reporters were "barred" from the CPC convention? I watched the TV coverage, heard the resolutions, blogged my comments, saw the speeches.

Turn the lights on in your basement.

Joanne, that's hilarious. Maybe she's screaming because she breathed in a wasp. LOL. It does appear, though, that she put some thought into her clothing, hair, and makeup before attending the protest. Gotta give her props for being groomed. LMAO.

I think carlos meant the reporters were barred from the earlier debates, not the convention. That was too bad, it leaves out Conservatives which couldn't attend in person.

If the media had access to those closed door debates, maybe they would've paid less attention to the protesters, or at least had two topics to report and would therefore take away coverage of the protest.

Brad ... I disagree. Policy is not policy until it is voted on and accepted by the delegates. As such how they get there is their business and not that of the press or the public. We have seen time and again that the "press" prefer to be a fly on the wall and engage in "gotcha politics" rather than competent reporting. The caucuses of all parties on the the Hill are not open to the press and so the policy discussions at the early stages should not be either.

In my opinion the press need to look in the mirror and assess how and why they do business and maybe a change on their part would allow them more access in the future.

Funny this, I read on AGWN that the press were barred from the Liberal conventio which caused another meldown between Iggy and Rae

It is not always obligatory that the media be invited to every meeting. There are times when privacy is necessary and it doesn't mean there is a hidden agenda or lack of transparency. Since when did we need to know everything.

This whole silliness began with a Liberal lie about Harper and how he was so secretive and had a hidden agenda. We all now know that the Liberal party was lying through its jagged teeth and now, it is coming back to bite them on their ragged butts. Bob Rae threw a hissy fit because the debate was to take place behind closed doors.

The media has hung itself - I don't blame Harper for keeping his cards close to the chest given the hatchet job the media did on him - buying into the Liberal lies and slander. Now, even the Liberals are afraid of the media - perhaps it is because the Canadian people are waking up to the lies they have been fed over the past several years - lies and slander which originated with the Liberal party.

We can all go into a nice place and imagine for a moment that she is a nice girl calling out for her favorite guy.....

And because she is calling Harper, Harper, somebody hit her in the eyes. They look black and blue to me. Wonder what her family thinks of her out there yelling, or what will her future grandchildren think when they find it on the net somewhere.

What will YOUR grandchildren think when they find THIS goofy thread on the net somewhere in the future?

Oh, a sour, bah humbug lefty enters and adds absolutely nothing to the discussion.

Thanks for again showing us Conservatives how bankrupt the lefties really are Mysteerhashorns!

Wow Gramma! You sure had strong opinions about the way that lady looked in that picture! And did you ever tell that "bankrupt lefty" off! Boy oh boy you were really persuasive Gramma! Sock it to'em!

Poor mystereoisbroken, your point is what?

That I'm older than you? Probably.

Now, time for your bath, get into your jammies, and your Mom will have the hot cocoa ready for you, and if you are real good, she might even read you Atlas Shrugged.

My remarks were in response to MaryT who wondered what the woman in the picture's "...family thinks of her out there yelling, or what will her future grandchildren think when they find it on the net somewhere."

What was your point, that anyone you consider to be in disagreement with your views must be a young bankrupt lefty in want of a good bedtime story?
