If She Dies In This Prison...

...it will be on the burden of the Canadian government.

Funny less than 50 people showed up for the Brenda Martin protest. There were more reporters there than protesters, but that didn't stop the reporters. They swarmed the one Conservative MP, Rick Norlock, who showed up, grilled him, judged him, and found him wanting. Guilty of being a Conservative.

Liberal MP, Dan McTeague, is seen supporting Brenda's Mother, and surprise surprise, Brenda phones, watch his grin. He knew and arranged for it to happen. Wow that's some mean old Mexican jail she's in, letting her phone her Mom during the rally. I wonder if Brenda won that beauty pageant she was in.

Now, my quote is from a supposedly neutral reporter, go to this site and click on the report by Roger Smith, watch McTeague, and then watch the supposed neutral blond bimbo state this "If she dies in this prison, it will be on the burden of the Canadian government".

Anyone know who this bimbo is? I suspect CBC, but CTV is just as bad so I'm not sure. Put your Sherlock Holmes hats on and see if we can't figure out who blondie is.

Strange, only 50 supporters show up. That must have been very disappointing for the organizers, there was lots of coverage of the rally, they were expecting hundreds.

Once again, msm and Libs travel another road going nowhere in the lastest episode of 'Harper is a Meanie'.

Are Canadians growing weary of these 'citizens of convenience' looking for govt intervention?
Did the Lebanon evacuation open afew eyes on our citizenship rules?

The message from CTV and the liberal party is that its okay to work in any country without a working VISA if you are a Liberal Canadian.
I admire MP Norlock for showing his support even though it was not appreciated.
This whole thing feels so artificial!!!

The Globe is reporting that the 2 Trenton women Mexico tried to link to the Iannero (sp?)murders were present at the rally. Looks like one of them said just that. Her name is Cheryl Everall.

Wilson, I totally agree with your points.

I just had to laugh at Roger Smith suggesting the phone call from Brenda was a surprise - yeah, right. That was planned right down to the tears. This whole thing is ludicrious - I wonder how many of the "protesters" were the same protesters that show up at every event.

I am glad there were very few supporters, it will hopefully show the Liberals that their pseudo scandals are not resonating with Canadians.

Brenda and her supporters have been used by McTeague and his co-horts and she has become old news, which given her circumstances, is really unfortunate.

I have a simple question.

If you are an expatriate living and working in another country , legally or illegally , and paying no taxes to Canada , why should you expect Canada should immediately come to your rescue , at taxpayers expense , if you get into trouble?

For Brenda Martin, her pseudo-hysterical supporters and the Liberals it is quite a legitimate tactic to whipsaw the gullible media into a frenzy of sensationalism. However, if someone from that same media circus takes it upon themselves to peek behind the sideshow curtain to investigate the facts, then it is an invasion of privacy. This whole charade is such an obvious publicity scam that even the NDP is shying away from it.

Because Brian, to do otherwise would be un-Canadian, we are told.

Maybe it's time to put a limit on the number of years a person enjoys the entitlements that come with Canadian citizenship.

If you use the magic number of 6 years that Revenue Canada uses, IMO, if you have not filed in Canada in that period due to taking residence in another country,
you should be required to get your tail into a Canadian Embassy, where ever in the world you are, and request an extension on your Citizenship,
with the promise to 'reside' in Canada within the following 4 years.
At the extended 4 year anniversary, no resident filing with Revenue Canada, no Canadian citizenship.

That's a good point Wilson, it would also stop those people who abuse their Canadian citizenship, like many of the Lebanese who used the Canadian taxpayers to get out of Lebanon.

Watch for the Liberals to make this Brenda thing a HUGE issue in Question Period. It's all they have, now that all else has failed.

I wonder how Dion is going to blame the low turn out to the rally, on PMSH.
Just how did he muzzle those hundreds of Canadians that were supposed to show up to protest the government!!

I understand that MP's are getting lots of calls and e-mails on this issue, so Liberals think they have a chance to make the Conservatives look bad, and the media is helping of course.

Wilson, the Liberals don't care that only 50 people showed up, they will make it seem like thousands were there in support. The truth never impresses lefties, only emotional lies will do.

Nice to see Martin getting all the sympathy she deserves. Idiotic 'reporting' of events like this, complete with 'surprise' phone calls from jail certainly won't help her cause.

The 'personal info' leaked on Ms. Brenda has a certain inside prison slant,
no details how long or what was said during the calls,
lots on prison activities.
Maybe CP bought the document from the Mexican's ??
Ms. Brenda gave the media her bank statements, for gawdsake. Does it get more personal than that?

You people don't know what you're talking about in the least - you're falling for the CPC BS.

I live in Norlock's riding and the guy has been a total jerk. Believe me, I know what I'm talking about.

He only pretended interest the last week prior to Easter break because the locals from ALL the small towns, the papers, etc. were talking about - he did it under pressure only.

He was called in Feb 07 by CanWest and said she should be in jail and hung up and wouldn't receive or return calls and there's more to the story.

You can blab and attack her all you want - you don't get it.

Also the two woman were NOT from Trenton they were from North Bay - duh!

Lynne, did you even read the Globe article I referre to? The Globe says they're from Trenton. I quote:

"Two Thunder Bay women who were considered suspects in the slayings of a Woodbridge, Ont., couple in Mexico two years ago showed their support of Ms. Martin by attending the rally.

One of the women, Cheryl Everall, drilled Mr. Norlock over the government's perceived failure to advocate on their behalf, and warned that the Conservatives would be held accountable should Ms. Martin not survive her ordeal."

Duh!

Lynne, I re-read our posts. Looks like we were both wrong. My bad.

Quite funny actually. Best laugh I had all day.

Anon: "You people don't..."

...understand how a Liberal thinks
...care about fellow human beings
...turn your lights off when told
...buy into lefty crap and I am upset with you because you are not a Liberal, and you should be because we are the holders of Canadian values, and only we can deliver Canada from the "far right" Conservatives, and we know what is good for you, and we demand that you listen to us, because we are the naturally ruling party, and democracy sucks because we accidentally elected the Conservatives, and this must be changed so we can get our hands on power again because we have no funds and no-one will actually give us money anymore, and we can't steal it from taxpayers.

Breath.
