Quebec, Waking Up With A Hangover!

Sure, they got rid of the Bloc, which is excellent, but they now have to put up with opposition NDP MP's for the next 4 years. Basically, Quebec is now powerless, and they have only themselves to blame. They can join PEI and Newfoundland in the land of those the Conservatives forgot.

Quebec's worst nightmare is now a reality, a Conservative majority, without Quebec's support. They have even less representation in Parliament than they had last election with a minority Conservative government. The west is in, and Quebec is out. The west asked them to the prom, but they said no, we want a socialist government to feed our unending appetite for "goodies" at the taxpayers expense. Quebec should have woke up after election night with a huge hangover and a stranger in their bed.

How disrespectful of our democracy can you get when you elect representatives who never even set foot in their ridings. It's not only Vegas girl, there are others as well. Quebec obviously wanted to send a message to the rest of Canada. My take on their message is that they wanted nothing more to do with propping up the Bloc, but they also didn't want to join the rest of us. They wanted to remain unique.

Unique they are, they now have to go to their NDP MP's, if they can find them and understand them, for representation in our country. It is one thing to protest with your vote, it is a whole other thing to protest smartly. Quebec voted without actually thinking about the consequences, and now they have to live with what they voted for. Good luck Quebec, we will see you in 4 years.

Quebec voted for the NDP because they thought the Conservatives would only get a minority, and they didn't want the Liberals to take power in a coalition. Who would have thought a majority was possible without Quebec? HA! Now Quebec is stuck with no real representation in government. The Conservatives will make sure that Quebec is served, but what can they do with only 6 MP's from Quebec? Quebec has so screwed themselves. It looks good on them.

Meanwhile back in Alberta, the "for hire" signs are popping up all over the place. We need workers and if those lefties from Quebec and PEI refuse to come here to work, they should be made to pay for the foreign workers we will need to bring in, while they sit on their duffs and pull in EI bucks. I see lots of BC, Sask, Man and Ont license plates here, but can't remember the last time I have actually seen a Quebec or PEI plate. My husband was smart enough to leave PEI to come to Alberta because there were no opportunities in PEI. He is still here and doing better than any of his 6 siblings back in PEI.

Quebec went out on a binge on election night, and is now waking up with a hangover!

Good post. You have wacked every gopher that dared to pop his head!!! Prairie humor. lol I am most offended by the insame voting that went on in Quebec - they treated democracy like a silly children's game. While the ROC was voting with its heart they were playing a foolish carnival farce. To me it was more that ABC it was A B C - anyone but Canada. Cheers.

To bad that they won't admit they've got a hangover and simply be grumpy all day (4 years).

I guess for me it's not that they elected the Dippers so much, it's that they didn't care about who they were electing AS DIPPERS.

In AB we get sarcasm that a dog could get elected if Conservative and that is simply not true. Our executives and members would never tolerate that dumbing down.
Quebec obviously has no problem, dumbing down and this time it's going to hurt.

The irony is that Socialists need to be the most sophisticated of politicians because their agenda is to control and manipulate society and its economy. By default that would require an intimate understanding of these areas. Yet, Quebecers voted for a bunch of naifs. For once Quebec outwitted themselves and it looks good on them.

And after redistribution their position will be less relevant.

Youse guys must be living inna parallel universe. I love seeing the Compassionate Conservative thingy at work. Basically it comes down to: Agree with me and yer a great human being. Disagree with you and you hate Canada, motherhood and our turdblossom from Alberta -- Big Steve!

"In AB we get sarcasm that a dog could get elected if Conservative and that is simply not true." Yes it is. Look at dear leader...

Great blog! Quebec gets what they deserve. I am very happy that they ditched the BLOC, en masse, but disappointed that they did not vote for very solid conservatives like Lawrence Cannon. Anyway, they have voted to only have a protest vote, not to really participate, thus, so be it. Perhaps they will grow up next time.

Has the grandmother returned from France yet, she left for 3 wks during the election.
Those ndpqers have a lot of separtists and other disgruntled mps in their midst. Looks good on Jack. I don't think he will have 103 mps to run in the next election, as I think there will be a revolt in their midst and someone will pull a Buchard.
Regardless, Que will not get anything that Jack promised them, other than maybe an orange T-shirt. A huge problem for him and the country is that unions have said they will let a lot of their people go, to staff offices for the ndpq. The best thing is, no more blackmail to Quebec, if it is good for Canada, might be good for Quebec.

Didn't Iggy say recently that Quebecers were the most sohisitcated voters anywhere?

Looked to me like May 2, 2011 was the first chance Canadians had to vote on a coalition of losers govt.

NDP is closest to Quebecer ideology, but were hopelessly trapped as the 4th party,
until Duceppe and 77 Lib MPs made the fatal mistake on Dec 1, 2008.... NDP was elevated to 'can win' status.

The polls and pundits were all talking coalition govt in the last week of the election campaign.
So Quebecers tried to make it happen ;
and at the same time make a coalition govt acceptable to the ROC by ditching the Bloc.

None is this matters anyway! The religious crowd says the world is going to end May 21st! Bummer...just before the long weekend.

Ya live here, Fay?. Thought so,...

And did Quebec ever get fooled. Now they have NDPQ MPs who can get nothing for them.
Iggy moved out of Stornaway within a week, and it seems Jack will not move in till Sept. Maybe that is where he is hiding all his new MPs. Will the media accuse him of being a dictator, or controller, for not allowing them out in public, like they did with PMSH.
Can't wait for the first day of QP to see how many of them turn up. Is he telling them that by not showing up for work they will not get promoted.

Hey Southern Quebec..your heroes were decimated in the election and your favourite boy 'Steve' put the dagger in..and twisted!..looks good on you and your traitorous friends and it gets even better when 'ole 'Steve' gets rid of the $2 per voter subsidy.

No more Bloc traitors in Parliament..coming real soon..

Now your treasonous friends will have to get real jobs..maybe Gilles can do some wildcatting in Alberta seeing as how his political career is finished.

I hope the election results stick in your separatist craw, SQ..for a long, long time.

Is Jack going to demand all of those private clinics in Quebec be shut down?
Or just in the ROC...?

Jack is okey dokey with Quebec opting out of any federal program they choose to, and still get the federal funding for that program..... how about in BC and Ontario...?

Why should Albertans participate in the CPP instead of just taking the federal cash and having our own provincial pension plan, same as Quebec...?
BTW, that was one of PMSHs firewalls, an Alberta Pension Plan.

Hey Southern Quebec..We still have areas in Ontario that you can roll a coffin down the main street with a Liberal sign on it and the dead body will get elected.A little like what you ended up with in Quebec...For Gods sake do you french have any brains at all.Why do you always vote for corruption???Do you hate the English that much???
