Dirty Dealings!

My first take on the "raid"? HAHAHA, too funny, more scandal mongering from the media. My second take? HAHAHA, 2 RCMP, in broad daylight? That's quite the "raid". Then I saw this picture, and the laughing stopped. My jaw dropped and I have been shaking ever since. This could be coming after you....

Is that a real nose, or an undercover nose? Is that real leather, or polyester? How strong is this guy to carry out one box, that appears to be addressed to him. This is disturbing, one box needed two RCMP officers as escort? How long was that search? Minutes? Oh, Elections Canada was only picking up a self addressed box from the office? Seems they called their Liberal buddies and the media to the box pick up.

Camera crews, including one from the Liberal party, were on hand as police arrived at the downtown building.

CBC News first reported RCMP officers were seen in the 12th-floor party offices and the 17th-floor mailroom. An elections official later left with a box of documents. (So, an elections official got lost, called the Mounties who went from the 12th floor to the 17th floor, and found his box. Good job Mounties, you saved a lost election official, maybe you can now help him find that $40 million the Liberals lost.)

RCMP Cpl. Jean Hainey said the Mounties were merely assisting.

"It is not an RCMP investigation. We're there to assist, but that's it."

So, who at Elections Canada alerted both the media and the Liberal Party of Canada about this "raid"??

This so called raid thing smells like a set up to me. With the MSM and the Liberals lying in wait? Another so called gotcha game. Really low.

Anyway the headlines "a raid" 2 mounties? A little over the top if you as me.

CTV national really layed it on thick tonight about Conservatives looking bad. They are having a big 50 year anniversary celebration with all the big wigs for CTV in Ottawa. Looks to me like a decision has been made by top CTV officials to promote the Liberal Party.
CBC gave a relatively fair report of Election Canada Raid and retirement of General Hillier.
Even MDL seemed to try to discredit General Hillier tonight.
CTV seems to be circling the wagons to protect Dion!

Sorry for my swearing, but it's a load of shit. Plain and simple.

That's not swearing Trusty Tory, that's just the truth! (It's also the only swear my Mom allowed. And A** Ask your Mother for fifty cents, when she was really mad)

It's a scandal a week by the Liberals, frmgrl. This is the "scandal" for this week, wonder what they will dig up next week?

Fay, the Liberals even accused the Conservatives of making Hillier resign today to take away from the Election Canada "scandal". Poor Liberals, they spent months planning this and Hillier retires the same day.

The CBC screwed up significantly this am and had to make amends.

As for Elections Canada, please contact them about not making a public statement clarifying the nature of the "raid." It is unaccetable. They have set-up the opposition to make false claims.

To make a complaint about an alleged Elections Canada offence, please contact:

Commissioner of Canada Elections
c/o Elections Canada
257 Slater Street
Ottawa, Ontario
K1A 0M6

Fax: 1-800-663-4908
E-mail: commissionersoffice@elections.ca

To make a complaint about an election officer, please contact:

Chief Electoral Officer of Canada
257 Slater Street
Ottawa, Ontario

Don't forget to cc your MP, even if they are opposition. This BS could happen to them for challenging another unelected Canadian powermonger.

I wonder if Elizabeth May will ask for a public enquiry on this?

So this is my theory of how this went down.

The Liberals and their MSM cohorts are sitting around expressing their frustrations at how none of these scandals seem to be sticking.

"To bad we can't get an RCMP investigation going says one"

"Well" says the guy from Elections Canada "we do have some info about the court case they are sending to us, we could have the RCMP "escort" us over there".

Yes! Yes! Raid! Raid! Raid! chants the crowd.

"But we need a "search warrant"?

"Hey, my brother in law is a judge, he'll give us one, he's angling for a senate seat and this might be just the in he needs once we get back into power"

"We need to make sure that we have cameras there so that Canadians will finally wake up and see that those right wing, knuckledragging Tories are as dirty as they said we were and they should not have voted us out of power"

"So make sure you call these numbers BEFORE you head over to their headquarters to pick up that box"

"We've got them this time!!"

Cheers and fist jabbing ensues!

Scott Reid serves Beer and Popcorn.

Note the following anti-suit statement - (The preceeding is the opinion of the writer only and does not in any way insinuate that any other knuckledragger, including the PMO, held a gun to the writers head or that the writer was in fact in attendance at the Liberal beer-fest)

Good one Alberta Girl! Funny, but you might just be right.

The dismissive defense I'm reading here of what seems like a pretty unethical scheme to spend more money than was permitted in the last elelction is disturbing. Come on, Tory-lovers, get some perspective on things. The rising sleaze level should be a red (oops! blue) flag to you that something is rotten in the PMO. At stake is more than just ideology here. Didn't the Prime Minister promise new, higher standards? Well, where are they?

Anonymous..are you calling your own heroes unethical?

They too have used these same election tactics, with no punishment, for decades and gladly used them to help themselves to two majorities (and our pocketbooks..!)

So which is it?

The Liberals are not my heroes. Unethical behaviour is unethical behaviour regardless of political stripe. The Tories ran on a platform of raising ethical standards and they clearly are not. It was all window dressing to get elected. In other words, they are just perpetuating the sleazy behaviour they criticized others for. That degrades the whole political process, wouldn't you agree?

Anon 2:34, I have no problem if the Conservatives lose their lawsuit, fine. What I object to is the fact that ALL parties do the same thing, go read Angry, he has documentation.

So why are only the Conservatives denied their expenses, why not all parties being held to the same rules? That's what bugs me. And in Committee, the other parties refused to open up their books, but wanted the Conservatives to, hypocrites.
