How Soon They Forget!

Flashback: A guy is at a party 17 years ago, and drinks enough to get silly, and make an unfortunate comment that resurfaces today. He apologizes and that should be the end of it. Yet, it's splashed all over the news, hour after hour, endlessly.

Present Day: A few weeks ago, something really hateful was said in the House, nothing reported about it on the news, an apology was made and accepted, that was the end of it. Let me refresh your memories, as most of you wouldn't have seen this little gem on the news:

What if I was raped 17 years ago and someone found a tape of it today, should it be broadcast to the world because the guy who did it is now a well respected businessman? What if the guy had totally repented and reformed his life, but his wife didn't know about it, and it now wrecked his marriage? Is that okay?

Do lefties have no sense of respect for people? It's okay to steal a ring because you are gay, BUT call a gay a name, and your political career should now be over?? Does the media not understand that these are real people, with real lives?

Maybe we should dig up some tapes of drunk Liberals making stupid comments. I hear Belinda was dancing on tables at one Liberal bash, but well, she is a Liberal, so it was funny. Or how about we dig up some Trudeau tapes, and Douglas tapes from the past? How dare I even suggest that, when they are dead, oh, you mean like Chuck Cadman? Hasn't stopped the Liberals now has it? They want to drag the PM into a committee meeting to grill him. Even suing them doesn't work.

Let's dig up all the dirt we can find on every politician, past and present, Fry and burning crosses, Ruby and those little street urchins got the beating they deserved...the list is endless. CBC feeding questions to the Liberals, maybe it's time to shed the big floodlight on all MP's.

Or, we can accept an apology, and move on.

Umm, no maybe its time to have a blog devoted to the unguarded remarks & tasteless behavior of journalists.

Camera phones & digital recorders are wonderful things. The next time you see some jerk or elitist snot at a political event and they are wearing press I.D. turn on your recorder or camera phone and have it on the internet within minutes.

You can bet no one in the press would ever admit to visiting such a site - but they ALL would, to see such things as married, drunken Joe Doofus of the Can. Press staring at Mary Lou Bleached Blonde's chest, or pompous Bob BigMouth wandering around cranked to the gills with his fly wide open. Priceless!

Guess this is the weekly scandal. The opposition and their MSM can't bear the fact the PM Harper was so successful at the NATO meeting they had divert attention away from that to something they think they can bash the CPC with.

Smells of desperation on the part of the MSM trying to help their pathetic Liberals out by constantly hammering this thing to death. National Inquirer style.

Man it was a party 17 yrs. ago seems like they were plastered and we all know what can go on when we've had a little too much to drink. He's apologised, Bill Siksay accepted on MDL in which I thought was classy of him. So why can't they {the MSM} leave it alone now and move on. OH yes, it's a conservative so they have milk it for all it's worth.

Very good point anon 9:00, shine the light on the media and their behaviour, that would be enlightening.

Dang now you've set off a little bell in the back of my head....something about the media not liking being asked questions....was it my blog, or someone else's blog? I hate that, "it's on the tip of my tongue" feeling.

Maybe ALL blogs should start holding the people reporting the news to account, but one dedicated blog would be interesting, people could send in those videos to one site. Maybe you should start one, it's a very good idea.

I tried to post the following comment on the CTV Lukiwski's story and they won't post it. Wonder of wonders! Maybe I should sent it to Duffy.

This story or scandal as some of
the MSM are calling it is so
ridiculous that I won't waste my
time to comment on it.

The House of Commons and at least 4committees are totally dysfunctional. Private members
bills are becoming the way laws are made in this country. The official opposition party is one big joke.

The NDP must have taken a few dirt
digging lessons from Mark Holland
and the Bloc shouldn't even be in
Parliament.Paul Martin is off in never, never land somewhere. All
this at our, the taxpayers,
expense.

Harper can't go to the Governor
General because of the fixed
election date and Dion is not going to bring down the Government until his 'divine' right to be Prime Minister is achievable in his mind!!

I think its time for the average
Canadian citizen to email the
Governor General and ask her to
dissolve this mockery of a
parliament. Maybe if she got 5 or 6million emails it would set the
wheels into motion.

Totally agree frmgrl! Liberals can march in gay parades, with all the nudity, Rae can flash his big naked butt on national TV, that's okay, that's "progressive". A 17 year old video of a drunken party, heads should roll!

Well Peter, never let it be said that CTV is not biased. HA. Good comment, too bad it won't see the light of media day.

16 years ago or today, demanding perfection from our politicians, or any person, is unreasonable.

All our society can demand, is tolerance.

To expect more, we become Thought Police.

hunter said...

Wilson, the lefties are not being "tolerant" right now though, they are engaging in "thought" policing, but only for Conservatives.

Well done post!! I totally agree, the same comparison crossed my mind. Tonight on CTV national News Robert FIfe hinted at the conservative hidden agenda. In my opinion it is the MSM that have a hidden agenda. Cover for the liberals and bash the conservatives. Compare treatment of Liberal MP from PEI to conservative MP from Saskatchewan and Ruby Dhalla Liberal Mp to Helena Guergis. The MSM is manipulating stories, there is not even an attempt to treat MP's equally. One of these days the MSM will push a hard working MP too hard. Why the compassion and sympathy for Liberals versus the ruthless disregard for the lives and feelings of Conservatives? The National Press Gallery are practicing Mob brutality.

Exactly Hunter.

Lefties think a person needs a shrink if they dare be politcally incorrect.
Thought Police.

I have a dear gay friend.
16 years ago, he cracked homo jokes.
He got married, had 2 kids, came out of the closet,
and he still cracks homo jokes.
But he bristles at fat jokes!

Unfortunately Anon 10:49, lefties actually HATE Conservatives, they HATE the military, and they HATE anyone who dares to disagree with their point of view.

They are "tolerant" of only those who agree with them, and the media WAR is in full swing, they are doing everything they can to smear the Conservatives.

Why, because they are weak.

hunter said...

That's funny Wilson! Too bad it's a true picture.

Oh well, tomorrow is another day to fight the good fight.

Is it my imagination, or is the really pretty Conservative women that get the hardest time?

And isn't it curious that it's Dion that is stating openly that
'Libs will reverse policy that today they allow (markers)',
yet
declare that PMSH has an evil hidden agenda
to reverse policy that today they allow....

Since the fall we have literally had a pseudo scandal a week - when the Tories do something really good - like the budget, or Nato - the screaming from the press is over the top.

So far

When they thought an election was going to be called in the fall we had Mulroney Schrieber- when that didn't seem to be resonating with Canadians - they decided to wait for an election.

When the budget came down - Canadians were happy - a few days later- "conveniently", a book about a dead MP held some "startling" revelations about Stephen Harper's past.

When polls started to show the Tories ahead and Dion sinking fast, lo and behold, a jailed woman in Mexico is found and her tearful pleas are played on every newscast, the Liberal MPs start taking pictures with Brenda on their annual trips south then critcize the government when they actually listen to the over the top rhetoric.

Last week the Liberals tried to use Stephen Harpers words from 20 years ago to say he wants a "white" Canada.

And this week - our Prime Minister goes to NATO - represents our country - Canadians are proud once again. and Somehow, conveniently, just in time for the next poll numbers to come out - a 16 year old tape of a Tory MP dissing gays.

What is this with the Liberals living in the past anyway - I guess they can't stand to see the future is one without them.

This is so sad - it is beginning to be almost funny.

I do believe however, that most Canadians will not look at this with anything other than being - thankful that they don't have tapes of all the stupid things we have done in our past.

I am watching Hanna Broudreau and interviews with Scott Brison and Ralph Goodale and just shaking my head at the glee with which Boudreau tut-tut's about this and of course Scotty is deeply offended and Ralph is demanding firings.

I will bet they are all trying to think back to whether there were any tapes of them in their past.

Oh boy - roll out the double-standards here - would you feel the same if it were a Liberal or NDP MP? No you wouldn't. You'd use it to all your advantage.

The "man" didn't appear drunk and he was "40" at the time.

No excuses - by 40 you've pretty much gotten set in your views.

No excuses here at all.

"Oh boy - roll out the double-standards here - would you feel the same if it were a Liberal or NDP MP? No you wouldn't. You'd use it to all your advantage."

Speaking of double standards, anony - where were the calls for Ruby Dhalla to resign after her treatment of Indian children, where were the calls for Shawn Murphy to resign after he called for the head of Mulroney.

The fact is anony, there is a double standard in this country. If you are Conservative - the press will report all the bad things you do with huge headlines and day after day stories. If you are Liberal - you may get a story or two, if any, and it is quickly off the front pages.

So don't come here and try to talk to us about double standards - believe me we are well aware of the double standard towards the Conservatives in this country.

This is just so much bunkum. All one has to do is google Tommy Douglas & homosexuality to see some really offensive stuff.Try it as there are some other surprises as well. The dippers & glass houses, lol!

Very good points Alberta Girl! If this is all they have, old statements, old scandals, and dead people, they are desperate.

Greyburr, true, St. Douglas was no saint.

What if the guy had totally repented and reformed his life, but his wife didn't know about it, and it now wrecked his marriage? Is that okay?

This has got to be the stupidest comment of the week.

If you were raped 17 years ago, and the rapest repented and reformed his life whether he told his wife for not (nice, honest relationship there and hardly repentant) he still needs to take responsibility for his actions and make amends. "Repentance" and "reform" aren't a get-out-of-jail-free-card for taking personal responsibility for one's past actions and making amends. I thought conservatives were big on personal responsibility anyway.

And as long as we are using that word "repentance", I have to laugh at all the deflecting going on here. I can't find anywhere in any gospel where two wrong make a right. In fact, Christ made it pretty clear that repentance means I take responsibility for my actions and change, and let other people do the same. I don't play the "it's-okay-for-me-to-do-bad things-because-others-do" game. Most well-raised children over 5 years old have outgrown that.

For such a holier-than-thou party, there is some twisted morality here.

Really anony?? Seems like that is EXACTLY what the Liberals are trying to prove with their constant "smears".

So speaking of holier than thou - take a look in the mirror.
