Maybe someone should tell them those nasty Conservatives just won the election up here! We have enough socialists of our own to contend with, thanks but no thanks, stay where you are.

Nature abhors a vacuum, and in the absence of religious faith, something else always moves in. If one accepts as an hypothesis (if only for the purposes of intellectual discussion) the possibility that humans are hard-wired for worship, it would explain a lot, wouldn't it?
