The debate was a real snoozer, but I'm sure the lefties will claim they each won. I was going to create a Youtube video, but it just isn't worth it.
What stuck out in my mind, was when the leaders were asked to say something positive about the leader to the left of them. All leaders said something nice, but then attacked, except for PM Harper, he praised Layton for helping him with the Aboriginal school apology, and did not attack him or his party. What a show of class!
Duceppe kept slamming Alberta, so did Layton, big oil, big oil, the lefty mantra. Well, let me clue you two in, without big oil, your welfare payments will be gone. Alberta sends more per capita than Ontario to support Quebec's socialist programs, like the $7 a day daycare.
Quebec, I'm talking to you very seriously. I don't mean to threaten you, but you threaten this whole country every time you vote for the Bloq. You are saying to Canada that you hate us. We let you get away with it because we love Canada, and don't want to see our country split up into little pieces. Most of us have relatives all over this country.

Think hard Quebec, you want to keep your social programs? What if Alberta and Saskatchewan are not there anymore to send you our equalization dollars. Alberta is one of the most pro-Canada provinces in Canada, we are proud to wear our love of this country on our sleeves, our cars and our homes. We want to include Quebec in this love of country, but every election we see Quebec vote for a separatist party, and we wonder, what more Quebec wants.
What will it take to make Quebec happy? PM Harper has declared you "a nation within Canada", but that's not good enough. The Conservative government has bent over backwards to make Quebec happy, and still you vote for a separatist party. I am sick of this pandering to Quebec. SICK OF IT!

My feeings exactly and I think a great majority of Albertans feel the same. They better be careful, PMSH took all the threats of Dion and others and finally called their bluff. He called a few others over the years. It wont be long if the bloc become the opposition and continue to try and ruin our Country, Alberta will call it quits. Maybe the first thing we will do is stop all equalization payments, withhold all payroll taxes, and income taxes. Neither Hunter or I, or her readers are real separtists, but when we have a province with a leader that hates us, and our resources, and thinks only Que deserves special treatment, it will not take much for any of us to tell Que, and Bloc supporters, enough is enough. Somebody better be watching out for us if Duceppe becomes leader of the opposition.

Hunter, I lived in Montreal for 6 years and my take is that intelligent Quebecers, whose eyes are open, are not in favour of separatism. They are just like you and me - they are more concerned with making a living, raising their families, enjoying a nice retirement, etc. This separatism idea is long overdue for retirement.
People in Quebec vote for the Bloc because they don't want to touch the Conservatives with a ten foot pole. Simple as that. It is a protest vote and you shouldn't look further than that. I punished myself and watched the repeat, but with no sound and just the closed caption on. Much different take on it. I can see why some think PMSH was not strong etc, with that girlish voice. Just reading the words as they were spoken, with the camera on the face of the speaker made a difference. You could pay attention to the facial expressions and get some of the emotion. PMSH did much better that time.

Point three - economists and experts can say all they want - they work with theories and not real life. The city of Ottawa, yesterday, came out with the news that the carbon tax proposed by Dion will increase the city's expense by 3.5 million and are asking him to rejig his carbon tax plan. I asked an actuary to figure out the effect on my finances and I also will end up in the hole. No matter what the so-called experts say, no matter how many economists say it, the carbon tax will increase the average person's cost of living. The plan may have merit from an idea point of view but it has not been well-thought and all components have not been considered. I would like, just once, for a party to hire regular joes like myself to come up with a plan. Expert panels are comprised of highly paid individuals who basically produce the results that the client wants.

A debate is one thing, but coming to a blog for the express purpose of slagging people is an indication of the low intelligence of that person.
I rely on Alberta Girl, and Maryt to help me during the day when I am at work, and can't respond. So you can treat them as my proxies during the day.
