The Globe and Mail is in full cry against the Conservatives. Bias? No, I see no bias here. HA!
Globe and Mail picture of PM Harper and Laureen getting off the plane in BC, with the headline:
Outlook gets gloomier for Tories, polls suggest
A surprising picture at CTV, somebody was asleep at the wheel to have allowed this one through the report nothing good about PM Harper filter. Head's will roll! For a party in trouble the Conservatives sure seem to have a huge crowd of supporters. Dang I forgot to link to it, and it's now gone.
This is what they replaced it with:
Now poor Jack is the lonely one with no support. Boy, CTV is getting to be schizophrenic, they don't know who to attack, Layton or Harper.
A picture from the National Post (my favorite newspaper, since they linked to one of my posts). I really like this one, because you can actually see the smile reach PM Harper's eyes.
Finally, I'm not sure if CTV did this on purpose or not, but they showed an interview by Lloyd Robertson with PM Harper talking about the economy, followed by Dion clearly saying that the Green Shift will be implemented and slamming the Prime Minister of our country. The contrast could not be more stark. Watch Dion's smug little face, his head shake, and where have his lips gone? What an arrogant, self deluded idiot. I am tired of the media shrilling for the Liberals by supporting his misfit.
Talking with the leaders.
Is CTV worried that Dion might actually win, and their ratings will drop? Or are they worried that a carbon tax, might decrease their revenues? Not too smart of them to support higher taxes, by supporting Dion now is it? They are a business aren't they? I have no clue what CBC is up to, because I refuse to go to their site unless I absolutely have to.
Media bias? HA! Do they really think we are stupid like Green party leader May does?

I think the writing was on the wall when Robert Fife reported from NewFoundland about the intimidation of conservative voters. Craig Oliver and Tom Clark quickly silenced this and produced the first gotcha with Ryan Sparrow. CTV has been on a mission to kill Stephen Harper's Conservative government right from day one. Tonights National news showed they are winning and can't help but pump their chest about it. Mike Duffy has been predicting the Liberals have hit their turning point for a week now. CTV is affiliated with the Globe and Mail. They are helping out Gloria Galloways husband Mark Dunn in his job to make Stephane Dion Prime Minister. CTV is no friend of the conservative government.
Keep on blogging Hunter. Bloggers matter. I have been shocked at Craig Oliver in the last few days when he was assigned to the conservative campaign. I had to shake my head a few times because he was explaining the conservative position and it all sounded good.
Do I need to take a pill? Yes Fay Robert Fife was a surprise too in that NFLD incident.
This little joke says it all:
I was talking to the little girl of one of my friends and she said that she wanted to be Prime Minister one day. Both her parents, NDP supporters, were standing there so I asked her; 'if you were Prime Minister, what is the first thing you would do'?
'I'd give houses to all of the homeless people', she replied.
'A worthy goal, indeed. You don't have to wait until you're Prime Minister to do that. Come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and sweep my yard. I'll give you $50 which you can take to the corner where the homeless guy hangs out and give him the $50 to put toward a house'.
She thought about it and then said 'Why doesn't the homeless guy come to your house, do the work, and earn the $50, himself'?
'And I said: Welcome to the Conservative Party'.
Her parents are still not talking to me.
"And believe me, I get quicker updates from her on the stock market than I do from the Department of Finance."
- Stephen Harper talking about his mother Margaret.
I don't know about you, but this doesn't inspire confidence.
And, Fay, it's Newfoundland.
"I don't know about you, but this doesn't inspire confidence."
Hey Southern Quebec, you weren't "confident" about the Tories anyway, why are you trying to portray otherwise.
I emailed a reporter at the Star and asked why the Dion plagiarism story was not being reported.
He told me that he hadn't heard of any such story. I sent him this link and he thanked be for it.
You think we will see it in the Star?
My guess would be about as much as we will see it on CBC....

Platty - Maybe you could ask that same reporter why Stephen Harper's year end interviews are not being brought out -you know, the ones where he actually predicted this and they all called him a pessimist!
I look over the columnists at NNW and the pile on Harper gang are out in full force.
I really don't know if there is anything the Tories can do to counter the anti-Harper meme in the Press Gallery.
AG - which year end interviews? Before he was in charge or after?
Not to put too fine a point on it, SQ, but since you're proofreading and correcting, it's Newfoundland and Labrador, not just Newfoundland.
Hey Southy - I'll bet you can google just fine - if you were really interested, that is.
The media and PPG are in full payback mode re being left out of PMSH's inner circle. Think what will happen to them if he wins next week.
The only possible good news is that most of those journalists expect to get a senate seat and new talking heads will be in place.
If Dion loses, they will discover that all that a== kissing has been in vain, and their ratings will be the first to go to the deep south.
We could then start a boycott of their advertisers, telling them we will not support them until the bias in the media changes ASAP.
EofE: I said Newfoundland because that's where he was. He wasn't talking about the province N & L, he was reporting from Newfoundland.
maryT: "...most of those journalists expect to get a Senate seat..." Since when? WTF?
Hunter - you have to get a tape of MDL late edition. Dion has shown that he should never be allowed to be in charge of this country.
Prime Minister Dion will probably have to go slower than he'd like on the tax shifts, since there is likely a huge deficit underway already. Flaherty gave Ontario a $5 BILLION deficit and we only found out after the Mike Harris party was thrown out of power. Likewise, Flaherty is probably hiding a doozy of a deficit again this time.
Prime Minister Dion will adjust to that, since unlike Harper, he is not an ideologue. Harper will let you starve if it proves the economic theories he studied as an economics grad student. Prime Minister Dion is practical and will use theories as a guide, not slavishly and recklessly follow them as Harper does.
It will be refreshing to see a Prime Minister that actually listens to other points of view and forges consensus rather than simply bullying everyone around him into submission.
We've had enough of Harper and his harpies constantly smirking, sneering and belittling us. Canadians deserve better.
Oh LS - did you see his interview. I would say he will have to take it slow because he will need to have things explained and explained and explained and then when all the explaining is done he will have to have a meeting to find out what he should do.
Dion is the scary one and the one with the hidden agenda given his newest muse - Liz May
It seems Mike Puffy doesn't like Dion wanting to know the exact parameters of the question. He kept asking for them and they never gave them to him. This is how Dion works. In the past, he demanded to know the exact parameters of separating Quebec from Canada, resulting in the Clarity Act which lays out exactly what would be required. It has driven a stake through the heart of separatism, since he demonstrated, with historical precedents, that a clear majority would be required, and more importantly that if Canada is divisible, so is Quebec.
From the way you are trying to spin it, you'd think he pulled a Palin like "I'll get back to you" or some nonsense like that. Perhaps you'd prefer him to give some stock answer to a different question than the one asked?
But he answered the question as well as anyone, given the vague premise provided.
"resulting in the Clarity Act"
You do know that he plagarized the clarity act from - well Stephen Harper.
Nice try on the excuses though LS - oh, and your liberal media are all over the web trying to defend him and say how poor Stephane just is misunderstood.
Good luck LS - sounds like you are gonna need it.
You do know that he plagarized the clarity act from - well Stephen Harper.
Plagiarism? No, plagiarism is when you simply copy someone else's work. And the issue with Harper's "plagiarized" speech was not the academic definition of plagiarism. It was the fact that he appeared to be receiving his orders directly from the White House.
But that was a nice try on changing the channel from the fact that Dion wants to know the exact question and the interviewer would not provide it. It does make a difference what he would be doing depending on becoming PM today, last week, last month, last year. So he went with the most practical interpretation, which was he became PM today.
Nice try on the excuses though LS - oh, and your liberal media are all over the web trying to defend him and say how poor Stephane just is misunderstood.
You forgot to say "sweetie" after you said "oh", sweetie. But keep up the sneers. That is what is really putting off Canadians. Your premise that Dion is somehow incompetent based on this interview outtake is laughable. In fact he was laughing through it. Ever watch a blooper reel?
Good luck LS - sounds like you are gonna need it.
Not much luck is needed when your people are so clearly desperate. Trumpeting a blooper reel to claim the man is an idiot? Sheesh! If it had been Harper, his RCMP "bodyguards" would have confiscated the tape, and you know it.
No more autocrats.
"But that was a nice try on changing the channel from the fact that Dion wants to know the exact question the interviewer would not provide it."
Please LS - don't embarrass yourself, the exact question - asked three times (that we saw) was If you were prime minister what would you have done differently than Stephen Harper. That is not a difficult question and for someone who has slagged Harper over his handling of the crisis, I would think he would have known what he would have done differently. The fact is LS - he didn't and even when he finally answered, he said he would have a meeting to find out what the economists want to do.
"and If it had been Harper, his RCMP "bodyguards" would have confiscated the tape, and you know it."
Really LS - is that like the Liberals asking that it not be released. How many times has that happened LS, where the media have given him a second, third, fourth chance or have coached him, or have answered for him.
LS - the fact that you feel that someone who does not even understand a basic, simple question over something that he has been slagging Harper over shows that he should not be the prime minister of this country.
Will he be - who knows? There seem to be alot of people who think this is no big deal - you are obviously one of them. Hopefully there are more that feel it is a big deal.
LS - you are sounding like the Halton defender of democracy by trying to make it out that Dion was the victim and that the interview was not clear. Please - don't even go there. Dion understood the question; that much was obvious. His frustration was not from lack of understanding, it was from the fact that the interview would not let him off the hook. Most likely, he is so accustomed to a sympathetic press that he never expected to have to answer to the accusations he is leveling at our PM. As for Dion's "hearing issue", I don't buy it for one second. Funny how he never had the problem when he was running for leader of the LPC. And, funny how his problem did not surface in a CROWDED room with LOTS OF PEOPLE (Garth, I think, wrote of 1,200 people) with lots of noise and action in an ENGLISH environment. Then, one on one with a very specific interview, speaking slowly and clarly, he has a hearing problem? Please, don't even think of trying that one.
LS, just concede that AG won that round fair and square and move on.
