The Forgotten Man...Joe The Plumber

The turning point in this election, is in my opinion, Joe the Plumber. He speaks to real people more than any politician can ever hope to do. He has socked voters in the stomach, and made them look at what choices they have in this election. He has provided some common sense in an election that has gone on too long and been too vicious from both sides. I suspect more voters will think about him when voting than either Obama or McCain.

“He Works, He Votes, Generally He Prays – But He Always Pays”

Joe the Plumber has struck a chord in the closing weeks of this election because he represents the Forgotten Man. When he confronted Sen. Barack Obama on the campaign trail with the question of what would happen to his taxes under an Obama Administration should he realize his dream of owning his own business, Joe cast the decision that faces us in this election in stark relief:

Which will be better for our economy: Politicians redistributing our wealth or growing more wealth?

And Sen. Obama gave us an equally stark answer: Under his leadership, America will focus on “spreading around” the Forgotten Man’s wealth, not encouraging him to create more of it.

What has been lost in the US election is the focus on the common voter and what they are most concerned about, not change, but stability and progress for their families.

Typical liberals, attack the man, not the issue.

You don't even understand that the average working "Joe", sees the Obama camp attack "Joe", just like you did, and is repulsed. They don't care if he really is a licensed plumber, all they see is him being attacked. They relate to Joe, heck they are "Joe".

I think liberal supporter needs to get alittle more informed.

He thinks that the oil sands will shut down because the price per barrel is $20 lower.

If he was more informed, he would know that projects that are already up and running, operate at alot lower cost than ones that would be starting up now. Only the ones starting up now need $85 dollar a barrel to break even.

So Alberta will still have the revenue rolling in (it might not be as much though). Provinces like Ontario, that manufacture alot of the parts that go into a new project, will suffer.

Anyone want to guess where the wealth redistribution will come from? I say Saskatchewan and Alberta.

Hunter, you say the average voter relates to Joe. How so?

Practices a profession without a license? Check!
Has a lien against him for not paying taxes? Check!
Lied about buying a business? Check!

If 'Joe' hadn't lied, the media would not have outed him. In the real world. this is called telling the truth.

And "spreading around the wealth"? It's called income taxes, and you only pay if you have income. Thanks to these taxes, we have universal health care. Ask Joe the Schmuck if he has health care.

Lib Sup, of course taxes will go down. When you have no income because the real economy grinds to a halt because the real money that makes the whole system work has been taxed or has fled, I am sure income taxes are quite low.

And Jeff, ins't that sort of shooting at the messenger. So you see the conversation as "Mr. Obama's tax plan is punitive and will hurt the small businessman and entepreneur." "You don't have a license [in a position where you don't need to be licensed] and you have an outstanding tax bill. How dare you talk back. I won't dignify that with a response. Please leave my sight while my toadies try to dig up more embarrassing, yet completely irrelevant details about you."

Cranky, "because the real money that makes the whole system work has been taxed or has fled" is slightly dishonest. The money that has 'fled' is the money that Wall Street leveraged (up to 60 to 1) betting that 'things could only get better'. When that didn't exactly work out, they went to the Feds are said, 'Wow, did we F**k up. Oh, well, if you want your economy back, bail us out!' And that is what the Fed did. Using the taxes paid by Joe the Schmuck. The Wall Street CEO's will walk away with millions, and the people at the bottom without jobs.

Always remember: Privatize profits; socialize losses.

Southern Quebec - FINALLY something we agree on!

Hey Hunter - after sleeping on Raph's comment last night - I challenged him on a few of his comments. Just wanted you to know.
