Quick Quotes

Busy working on a video, and I need your help again. Give me quick one line quotes from the media about proroguing Parliament, with sources. Such as; Parliament prorogued for 4 months, or this is unconstitutional, or any other quote that got you ticked off because you knew they were stretching the truth.

Also, anybody who is good at photo shop, I still want some funny clips of Iggy skiing down a hill or Layton snorkeling. Iggy in France by the Eiffel Tower would be funny, and Jack speed skating in the Olympics would work as well.

Use your imaginations.

If you are looking for great clips of Dear Leader, you really can't go wrong with the classic one of him in his leather vest and cowboy hat. VERY Brokeback Mountain. Or how about the one with him holding a kitty...just before he ate it! As you can see, this has a lot of potential...

The most offensive was the Economist article.

http://www.economist.com/displayStory.cfm?story_id=15213212&source=most_commented.
My son usually likes a gift of the Economist, but I now think this could be poisonous reading material.

It was then reported by CTV with such glee that I turned off the TV. Pic of champagne bottle with newsmedia toasting a breaking news of clip of "PM Goes Pro_rogue"

I'd like to see a mock-up of Iggy shovelling snow from the villa steps in Provence, musing how on earth Stephen was always one step ahead and able to predict the post-Copenhagen global cooling.

Interviews with ordinary Facebooker Canadians on what prorogue means and whether it is legal or has been done before.

"Taking a break from our politicians could just be what the doctor ordered.
That Ottawa will be quiet for the next couple of months is welcome news to most of us — but last week, reading the pages of almost every newspaper in Canada, you’d think we’ve suffered some kind of major national setback, as if hearing politicians talk equates to them actually doing something.
One political reporter opined that this act by Stephen Harper "is merely wrong: an abuse of process, an insult to Parliament, another step on Parliament’s long slide into irrelevance."
The Globe and Mail called it "an underhanded manoeuvre" and The Chronicle Herald described it as "dodgy."
What are they talking about? Not the issue of Canadian soldiers and Afghan detainees, the economy or even climate change. No, all of this fuss is about Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s decision to prorogue Parliament."

And there's a few more to come.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper's generosity in extending the paid winter vacation of MPs by more than a month must be unparalleled in Canadian parliamentary history.
The timing of his announcement, during the busy festive season, made it about as newsworthy as a trip to the washroom.
The intentional suspending of the constitutional obligations of the Opposition, even though it represents the majority of Canadian electors, forestalls any continuing debate on issues Harper would rather not discuss.

"Get Back to Work." The irony is that the PM and his MPs have been working during this recess. It was the opposition leaders who were on vacation.

Are these the reports that libs and media want to study.

A report in 2004 the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and obtained by The News reveals that "the surveillance reports of the Independent Commission of Human Rights in Afghanistan indicate that torture remains a common practice for police officers, including the 'stage of the investigation. This measure is used to obtain confessions from detainees. "

In 2005, another report shows that military, police and intelligence services are involved in arbitrary arrests, kidnappings, extortion cases, cases of torture and killings of individuals suspected of having committed crimes. The paper also reported cases of rapes of women, girls and boys by the police commanders and their troops.

An agreement still

Despite warnings from Canadian diplomats, the Paul Martin government has nonetheless signed an agreement with the Afghan government in December 2005, to deliver to the Afghan authorities and non-Americans to all prisoners captured by Canadian soldiers.

In the wake of the controversy surrounding alleged mistreatment of detainees at the U.S. prison at Guantanamo, and torture of prisoners by U.S. soldiers at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq, that Canada had taken this decision."

Where is the MSM on this? Have they forgotten? Are they lazy? Or do they want this kept buried so that only the Conservative government is embarrassed?

Many other clips listed on the side.

Terry Milewski says at the 24 sec. mark “Well, Peter, both the Liberal and the NDP leaders are still on vacation … “

I’m also trying to find the first interview with Christopher White on Evan Solomon’s Power & Politics, where when asked whom he voted for (or something similar) he said he spoiled his ballot, whereas today on QP, when asked if he’s a card-carrying member of the Liberal Party, he said something to the effect that he’s voted for different parties in different elections.
So did he spoil his ballot or did he vote?
His "friends" want to know.

Lots of good tips in this thread, and of course not all will make it to the video. But, they are researched and we can follow the links to get better educated on the bias of media and print.
And, if libs ever get back, and prorouge it will be fun to show the difference in coverage.

SQ, are you so far behind you still think Stockwell Day is leader of the conservative party.
By the comments by the media talking heads it appears that is where they are, especially referring to the 4 month prorogation by Chretain.
They have to be referring to that when they mention 4 months as the PM did it for 15 sitting days.
And Craig saying on QP today that it is shut down for the winter. When is winter officially over, I think it is way past Mar 3.
Lies, lies and more lies by all the media and trolls.
The scariest thing is that all those students signing on to that FB page can't count, and they are in university. They think they are intelligent and understand what is going on.

I predict the video you are doing, with help from others will be a lot better and truthful than the new lib thingy. Stephen Taylor has a new post up about it. He brings up Somalia.
And Kady is basking in undeserved praise for her attempt to bring down the PM. If she suceeds in forcing the libs to defeat the PM, and it is the libs that get slaughtered, will she claim she was after the defeat of Iggy as leader. The media seem ok with her taking the fall.
She just might end up out of a job, like Conan and Rex.

Don that's great! I will use it for my next video, so don't rush, go eat!

I used both your photo shopped images of Iggy for the video, and my 16 year old showed me a bit about photo shopping, he helped me do one of Jack scuba diving, it looks funny, but it gets the message across I hope.

Next video will be about the mysterious appearances of the opposition at the Olympics when they are supposed to be at work in Ottawa. So any Olympic themed pictures will be great.

I want to thank everyone who has given me so many ideas and links that I couldn't use them all, this time. The short one is ready, but I want Sandy to give me some advise before it goes on You tube. The longer version will be easy now that I have all the resources to draw from.

Start thinking about what should go into the Olympic version. Don has given us a great start with the NDP Layton speed skating. I want to save that one as a show piece!
