Obaaaama!

We are hearing about the "October Surprise" might this be it?

Why not just produce the birth certificate and end this legal action? McCain did, why not Obama?

As a Conservative, I find it hard to support Obama. From all I have seen, he is all fluff, he might win because he stirs people emotions, but that's the same tactic the lefties tried to use this election. PM Harper was not emotional enough for lefties, they are creatures of flowery talk, but no substance. Canadians saw through that and voted for stability.

Will Americans be fooled? I hope not. Be careful of what you wish for, false dreams of a saviour are dangerous to any country, even more so to America as a super power, in an increasingly dangerous world.

Obama is yet another one of those politicians whose wife should be running. So many of our leaders are fluff, as you say, but their wives are strong and wise. I wouldn't vote for Obama but I'd vote for his wife.

Hunter, a word of thanks for this blog. Given the lies that the Liberals were spreading and especially the stuff that was coming out of Garth's blog, it was important to be able to source the truth and blogs like yours provided this service to us. So...thanks. Great job.

I have been on vacation for a week and away from my PC - except for the day after the election. I was elated on two fronts - Harper won (albeit a stronger minority) and Garth lost. It is rare that I wish for somebody to lose but given the dirty campaign that he ran - attacking Lisa Raitt in a most unseemingly manner - and the filth he allowed to be posted as comments on his blog, I wanted him to lose - and he did.

His last blog ended in a fashion which completely disgusted me - "it's all your fault". I was shocked, for this was worse than anything I have ever seen him post. Unbelievable. I truly hope that he never darkens our political doorstep ever again. I have never, in my 55 years on this planet, seen such a dirty campaign and such vitriol as I saw on his blog.

Comparing his blog and comments from his supporters, I can only say that we Conservative supporters are far more polite and reasonable. Our sense of decorum is highly developed while theirs is...well, anybody who has read comments from Men with Hats, Pyotr Petrobitch, or Muskoka Bill knows what I'm saying.

I surely hope he retires from politics for good and that no other politician ever stoops as low as he did - this is Canada and we do have a sense of decency and Garth certainly violated that big time. When he attacked Leasa and Alberta Girl and when he allowed his supporters to follow suit, I was momentarily ashamed to be a man. But, then I realized that he is not the average man. We are, for the most part, respectful of women whereas Garth and his rabid supporters were not. However, on behalf of decent men, I wish to apologize to Leasa and Alberta Girl for the bad behaviour of the minority of men who get their jollies from attacking women.

They're just waiting for him to get elected and then go, "Oops! Well we can't have a new election, and the people have spoken, so let's just amend the constitution to allow him to be president."

Leaving aside Obama's alleged fluffiness, and the opposing platforms for the moment, I think that the McCain/Palin campaign has all but disqualified itself for the White House in the past few weeks. (And I say this as someone who voted for Stockwell Day as my local candidate on Tuesday).

The sheer venom coming out at Republican campaign rallies is disgusting. McCain did say Obama was a decent man at one of his rallies and correct a supporter who claimed Obama was a foreigner, but it was he who started down this path when he selected Palin as his running mate.

Say what you will about George W. Bush, but he managed to campaign with the "awww shucks, I'm a regular guy like you" strategy without resorting to the nastiness that's coming out of Palin's mouth about Barack Obama. When you ask "Who is the real Barack Obama?" and your supporters shout "terrorist", a responsible politician has an obligation to immediately correct that.

Well, Thank You East of Eden, it makes it easier to keep blogging when you know that people are reading and enjoying what you have to say!

Garth going down was a highlight of the election. As a female, he always gave me the heeby geebies.

Hunter, you forgot to call Senator Obamo a latte drinking elitist.

I'm a little confused. Let me see if I have this straight.....

* If you grow up in Hawaii, raised by your grandparents, you're "exotic, different."

* Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers, a quintessential American story.

* If your name is Barack you're a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.

* Name your kids Willow, Trig and Track, you're a maverick.

* Graduate from Harvard law School and you are unstable.

* Attend 5 different small colleges before graduating, you're well grounded.

* If you spend 3 years as a brilliant community organizer, become the first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people, become chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of 13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs committees, you don't have any real leadership experience.

* If your total resume is: local weather girl, 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, 20 months as the governor of a state with only 650,000 people, then you're qualified to become the country's second highest ranking executive.

* If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while raising 2 beautiful daughters, all within Protestant churches, you're not a real Christian.

* If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left your disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you're a Christian.

* If you teach responsible, age appropriate sex education, including the proper use of birth control, you are eroding the fiber of society.

* If , while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no other option in sex education in your state's school system while your unwed teen daughter ends up pregnant , you're very responsible.

* If your wife is a Harvard graduate lawyer who gave up a position in a prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city community, then gave that up to raise a family, your family's values don't represent America's.

* If you're husband is nicknamed "First Dude", with at least one DWI conviction and no college education, who didn't register to vote until age 25 and once was a member of a group that advocated the secession of Alaska from the USA, your family is extremely admirable.

OK, much clearer now.!!

frankly, i'm astonished sq took the time to write such a well written comment at a blog like yours.

I think you're right on target with the comparison of the attitudes towards Obama & Palin's background, so I'm not going to add anything to that. But I think I can add a comment about the "Obama's not a real Christian" slander. I've heard the "Obama's not a real Christian" slander from friends & acquaintances and as a evangelical Christian I feel that such an attitude is betrays a fantastic error in judgement.

I think it boils down to his stance on abortion. Obama is clearly pro-choice and the vast overwhelming majority of Christians in the states are not. Abortion stalks politics in the US and unfortunately there seem to be only two acceptable sides in the US, they've staked out their turf in corresponding parties and both think that the only solution is in imposing law.

Fortunately this has not happened yet in Canada. There are still pro-choice and pro-life people in both the Liberal and Conservative parties and people who have mixed views in both parties as well. If abortion ever comes up in the legislature again it's incredibly important that we recognize that nobody wants to kill babies or oppress women. It isn't a difference of morals, it's a disagreement over facts that separates the two sides. (i.e. the humanity or non-humanity of a fetus). This disagreement over facts does not correspond with any political platform. Consequently an issue like abortion should always be the subject of a free vote if it ever comes up in the house. In the meantime, political parties must reject any calls to "purge the party of the unfaithful". Being pro-life is not incompatible with being a Liberal, and being pro-choice doesn't make you un-Conservative.

Sorry for the off-topic thread here, but the comparison got me thinking SQ. Thanks for reposting it.

rebutting southern quebec's load of road apples would waste valuable seconds.

His standard issue Obamamessiah talking points were very comical.

Poor lefties, all they have is hope that the Obamamessiah will win seeing as the lefties in Canada just got their butts handed to them big time.

Southern Quebec can't even think up his/her own words, they steal from another site, why doesn't that shock me.

Hey Southern Quebec, why don't you comment, in your own words, if you can, about my next post, why the Bloq are useless and how Quebec has isolated itself.

Or are you only able to cut and paste someone else's opinions?

Anonymous said...

Lefty? Hunter do you not realize that Obama would never be able to run as a candidate for any "left" political party in Canada because he's too far right for Canadian politics?

Regurgitating talking points is a whiz, if the S.Que. dude can, anyone can...let's let 'er rip...

Where's Barry O's:

- original birth certicate?
- Columbia college reports?
- Columbia thesis paper?
- Harvard college records?
- Illinois State Senate records?
- law practice client list and billing records?
- names of all half-siblings and step-mothers?
- the smoker's medical (not to mention his cocaine and pot use) records?
- parent's divorce certicate?
- mother's marriage certificate to Lolo Soetoro?
- adoption papers from Indonesia?
- record of Baptism as a Christian?
- scholarly articles?
- where is his maternal grandma located in Honolulu?
- his mentor, the commie Frank Marshall Davis?

tonnes and tonnes of talking points...dime a dozen really and we haven't touched on his Chicago "daze" or his lovely angry wife.

So apologies from Garth are no longer necessary - his loss is all I needed!

Hey Liberal Supporter, I'm still patiently waiting for your response to how Alberta has been taking equalization money for DECADES and DECADES from Canada. Can't find any facts to support your position can you? HA!

I know it hurts to feel powerless, but until you stop blaming Conservatives for your parties inability to connect with 74% of the country, you will be in the dark, looking in.

Hey Liberal Supporter, you are still avoiding answering your claim that Alberta took equalization payments for DECADES and DECADES, please provide your evidence, we are waiting with baited breath.

New Equalization Program Provides More Than $12.7 billion
For 2007–08, the new Equalization program will provide more than $12.7 billion, $1.5 billion higher than payments made in 2006–07. Over time, the cost of Equalization will fluctuate in relation to fiscal disparities: as disparities widen, the cost of Equalization will rise, and as disparities narrow, the cost of Equalization will fall.

According to the above (from the GOV website) the TOTAL equilization payments were only $12.7 billion.

I think there something about maryt.....delusional maybe....

CanuckRover said...

hunter, don't look now but your stupid is showing.

Equalization payments were created almost exclusively for the benefit of the near-bankrupt Alberta and Saskatchewan. The system was created after the Rowell-Sirois Commission pointed out the huge inequities between BC and Ontario and the rest of the country (Sorry, I know REAL Canadian history isn't your strength, but the Commission is kinda important). Alberta has indeed been a net receiver of equalization at various points since 1957. Oddly enough it's only now that they actually have to chip in that the bitching starts. Funny that.

What else can you expect? Stupid is all she's got.

She is, bar none, the stupidest Conservative blogger. Coupled with her baffling, un-Christian lack of humility, it's a rather toxic mix.

Good thing she lives in Alberta, along with that other ill-tempered cart horse.

Is Hunter like 12 years old? Because by the time I was 13, I stopped seeing the world in black and white. History shows that your way of thinking has been one of the causes of most every war that has ever been fought - and I'm not talking about your right-leaning views. I'm talking about your generalizing and grouping of people. Believe it or not, not every single "lefty" thinks, talks and acts the same way. And many "righties" are just as guilty of the things you accuse "lefties" of being. Wake up.

Time will tell whether the name of your blog is ironic or appropriate. Your way of thinking is clearly still in the dark, but one can hope that through this blog, you might come to think in a less childish, narrow-minded way. Open your eyes.

Oh, and "Southern Quebec can't even think up his/her own words, they steal from another site, why doesn't that shock me."

Just out of curiosity, the image, the comic and the youtube clip.. did you create those or are those stolen from another site?

Ti-Guy said...

Is Hunter like 12 years old?

Well, she lives in Alberta and has kids.

So yes, she's 12.

Dear lefties, if my blog is soooo bad, why do you keep coming back and commenting on it? Also, why bother with Conservatives, don't you have the left to unite, and a new leader to elect?

Personally, I think you like me, you really really like me, and you are thinking about voting Conservative next time, that's why you spend so much time commenting over here, on the right side.

Well, join us, we have the power, the smarts and all the young female voters. If you don't want to join us, go back to your lefty sites and lick your wounds.

Hunter, grow up and think before you post.

I'm a self-described conservative, and I found your blog from one of your postings off another site. I was hoping your site would be as interesting as constructive as the other one.

This is my first time I've been on your blog, so you might not care for my opinion, but you're managing to convince a first time visitor that you're not worth visiting a second time. You're acting like a juvenile windbag when provoked. I hope this is out of character. Just because someone insults you doesn't mean you have to respond in kind.

Ti-Guy said...

Well, join us.

Well, I would, if only to be able to say "Hunter, as a Conservative, I have to say think you're vicious, juvenile, uneducated and arrogant and you diminish all Conservatives."

Believe me, it's almost worth it.
