Alberta Bashing: Duceppe!

Hey, Duceppe, over here, in Alberta, I have a message for you, you are disgusting. Not just because you want to break up Canada, but because you think Alberta oil sands should be shut down. Let me clue you in, your manufacturing sector relies on Alberta orders to stay alive.

Your equalization payments, for all your socialist programs, they come from Ontario and Alberta. Yup, those "dirty" oil sands are keeping Canada and Quebec going right now, but you are too much of a political creature to understand that. It's always easy to bash Alberta. I'm curious, have you ever been here Duceppe? Or do you just prefer to pretend to know what we are doing?

Look you waste of space, you have NO say in what Alberta does, you think Quebec should have full powers to do what they want, but you slam Alberta for wanting the same thing? Here's something you will not tell people in Quebec because you are so busy blaming Alberta.

If you had to choose between Alberta oil or crude from Algeria and Angola, which should you pick?

This is the decision Quebec Premier Jean Charest faces now that Calgary-based Enbridge Inc. has unveiled plans to pipe heavy crude from the Alberta oil sands to refineries in Montreal for the first time.

Quebec currently relies almost exclusively on imported oil, with Algeria, Britain, Norway, Angola and Venezuela as its main suppliers. The Parti Québécois, along with some leading environmental groups, think it should stay that way. To them, piping in oil from the “tar sands” – the enviros' preferred term – would reverse all of Quebec's progress on climate change.

See, you don't even buy our oil, so butt out of our business. Go ahead, keep buying foreign oil, and don't let Montreal refineries benefit from our own resources, but expect Alberta to support your sorry a$$es.

Over all, Quebec imported almost $14-billion worth of non-Canadian oil in 2007, when crude averaged around $70 (U.S.). That left the province with a massive $10-billion (Canadian) trade deficit that is certain to balloon further this year, given oil's summer price spike (it hit $147 U.S. in July) and a decline in manufacturing exports.

“What Line 9 reversal will do is provide a source of reliable Canadian crude to Montreal-area refineries, helping offset their current reliance on foreign imports,” explained Enbridge spokeswoman Jennifer Varey. “One of the attractions of this approach is that it minimizes the environmental and community impact of pipeline construction.”

Oh dear, what to do, what to do? Quebec doesn't care, they will continue to import foreign oil, and bash Alberta, while Alberta helps them to pay for that foreign oil. They have the votes. We have the oil. If Quebec keeps voting the Bloq, they should start looking to other sources for their welfare cheques. Alberta doesn't need Quebec, but Quebec needs Ontario and Alberta. Hey Duceppe, what will Quebec do if Ontario becomes a have not province like Quebec? Do you separatists have no pride? Are you happy to live off the productivity of the rest of Canada. Are your unions so powerful that you have to bow down to them?

Why is it that debt free Alberta does not have a $7 a day welfare daycare program, but we send you our dollars so you can? Why do you think Quebec culture is better than Alberta's, it's not, it's just different. You do not even want to try to understand the west, we are just your whipping boy. I am tired of your ignorance of the west, I am tired of you bashing us, you show your intolerance ever time you talk about Alberta.

Duceppe you and your party, are the problem in Canada right now, you want to separate from us, yet you suck at the teat of entitlement, grow some balls, join Canada.

Why does Quebec vote for separatists? What can they do for Quebec? NOTHING! They are a rump party that has lost it's relevance in this day and age.

The Bloq is not the only idiotic party:

To the Liberals, your carbon tax will kill our economy.
To the NDP, go ahead, shut down the oil sands, see what jobs are left for your union friends.
To the Greens, do you really think Canadians want to send billions of dollars to Europe to meet Kyoto targets?

Toronto is a big city, but it is no longer the economic engine of our country, resources like oil and mining are, and that requires people who are willing to get down and get dirty. The worker bees, not the drones.

Duceppe, you and your separatist party are disgusting, how could you not love Canada?
Canada has supported Quebec, we have bent over backwards to make you at home, but still people vote to separate, or does Quebec just vote for separatists to hold a gun to the heads of Canadians? Enough.

The federal Liberals begin every election saying how they are the party of unity. As election day approaches, however, they invariably end up demonizing Alberta, likely figuring they're not losing seats by doing so.

So far I haven't seen much of that from the Liberals. Give them time, I guess, there's still two weeks to go.

So, Hunter, tell us how you really feel. LOL. Duceppe is a joke. Every time I see him, I visualize that old picture of him in the shower cap visiting some cheese place or something. He looked like an ugly old woman. I figure that Quebec must do some pretty creative accounting to be a have-not province. It is rich in resources, has a port or two, and has a huge labour force. There is no reason that it should be receiving transfer payments. Unfortunately, the province was run by the church for so long that it will take several generations for it to become accustomed to the freedom brought by the quiet revolution. Logical and educated Quebecers know that separation would be a nightmare. The Bloq should not be sitting in our national CANADIAN parliament. Only national parties which exist for CANADA should be in our parliament.

I would love to see a prime minister turn to Quebec and say: buh bye, don't let the door hit you on the butt on your way out.

And the best part is. You and I and every other "Canadian" are paying for his salary and the Bloc Quebecois. How is that? That we are paying for a party that only cares about Quebec? Why are they even in Parliament? He has no problem taking our money and asking for more and more. But, as long as they do nothing for it and it's done the way they think.

And since I'm pissed about this again. WHY is the bloc Quebecois a recognized party? And why are they a part of our government? Their mandate is to destroy our country. Whats the difference between them and HAMAS? Except guns. Anything?

djxtreme: you hit the nail on the head. That is what is so sickening - the Bloc is totally hypocritical for sitting in our parliament and taking our money and yet despising Canada. I read a bit in McLeans about Duceppe and it seems that he developed a disdain for Anglophones early in life. He also had problems practically everywhere he worked. It's no wonder.

Hunter - a bit of a long comment but if you'd post it, I'd appreciate it. Thanks, in advance.

Why I will not vote Liberal. (I won’t even acknowledge the Green or NDP parties.)

Trudeau: Ruined our economy, plunged us into a major recession, left a monumental deficit, I lost my job due to double-digit interest rates and became one of the double-digit unemployment rate in a double-digit inflation country.

Chretien: He outright lied about scrapping the GST and never acknowledged his lie. AdScam happened on his watch. Dingwall happened on his watch. Radwanski happened on his watch. God only knows what else happened on his watch.

Liberal lies: Harper is scary. Despite the rhetoric, not one of them, to the best of my knowledge, ever explained exactly how he was scary. Harper has a hidden agenda. If it is hidden, then how do they know about it? And, if they know about it, why do they not reveal what is in the hidden agenda? The Bernier-Couillard affair. If I recall, PET's wife provided some embarrassing moments for Canada back in the day. And, in recent history, she was arrested for DUI and managed to squeak out of it. I have always believed that you cannot criticize your neighbour’s weeds when your lawn is full of crab grass.

The Green Shift: This plan is based on deception. My first impression was that it was not given too much thought other than the tax increase angle. The plan talks about big income tax cuts and presents double-digit decreases in the rates and not the numerical reduction in the rates. I figured that I would see a 1.25% decrease in tax paid on taxable income – not on my gross income. That makes a big difference. My massive cut amounted to around $400. Not that massive.

In addition, every business I patronize uses natural gas and this increase will be passed on to me. Plus…my rate per cubic meter will increase and, thus, the GST which I will pay on my consumption. Farmers and truckers will be hit with the tax on diesel and this cost will pass down to me. And, if we have a bitterly cold and/or long winter, my gas consumption will rise and so will the cost to me. All the while, my rebate – MASSIVE according to the Liberals – will remain static. In addition, only a portion of the tax will be returned as MASSIVE income tax cuts. A significant portion will be put toward programs which benefit very few Canadians.

Subsidies for purchasing new, so-called green equipment and appliances: balderdash. It is not as though the average Joe can go out and replace his equipment and appliances just like that. Besides, the subsidies are paltry compared with the cost of replacements. Add to that the fact that very little is available in the form of green products and you have a real loser of a concept. Besides – what will happen to all of the equipment and appliances which we have replaced?

So, the Green Shift is a sham – and a badly designed sham at that.

The housing crisis: This is not the fault of the Harper government. Indeed, the hyperinflation of housing prices began during Chretien’s reign. The prices are now returning to less unreasonable levels. The Liberals say that it is Harper's fault.

Job losses: The auto sector job losses are not the fault of the Harper government. They are the result of domestic manufacturers producing inferior products which we do not wish to purchase. Do you see Toyota complaining? The Liberals say this is Harper's fault.

Income trusts: okay, I’ll grant them that one. I was appalled by the turnabout and would like to see the Conservatives reverse that decision. The Liberals, however much they howl, do not plan to eliminate the tax completely – merely to scale it back. Uh, that sounds like hypocrisy to me.

One sitting CPC member crossed the floor to the Liberals. The reasons for her crossing seemed obvious to me, but to her credit, she did it quietly and without fanfare. The Liberal party gave her a Ministerial portfolio – appointing her without going through the democratic process vis a vis the riding association. I am sure that some of her constituents were not happy with her switch but that is neither here nor there since she is leaving politics. Now, with the appointment of Lisa Raitt, there is a hue and cry from one corner about her being appointed without following due process vis a vis the riding association. Double-standard.

I have one more reason for not voting Liberal and I presume that any CPC supporter can think of the name of that reason. I do not need to go into any detail since that reason has already shown to be unbecoming and deceptive. Enough said about that reason.

So I ask again. And actually would like to demand an answer from our GG. How can the Bloc be a legitimate party in the house if a/ only care about Quebec b/ Have a mandate to break up the country c/ violate our language laws (ie bill 101)? Can I please have an answer to this? someone???

The word TREASON comes to mind.

IF it is assumed that the Conservatives again form government and get the required 155 seats to form a "majority" and IF the "three blind mice" each split the opposition vote (Greens eliminated) it would be soooo funny to watch the mice battle it out for leader of the opposition and get the first question in HoC comedy hour. Duffus Deceppter has been the Leader of the Opposition before so he has some experience, Dion will be Done and Taliban Jack will explode.

maryT said...

What happens to all those investigations by committee the liberals were making fools of themselves on.

West Coast Teddi said...

If the CPC get a majority or an increased minority, the committees will be "re-struck" and rebalanced based on the numerical split within the HoC. There are some committees that the opposition get to chair but the CPC would have closer to a majority on them. The witch hunts would be over.

hunter said...

The witch hunts will continue because the MSM will not stop. They can't help themselves, they feel that they have to educate the masses about how bad the Conservatives are, because their very jobs depend on it.

We bloggers might be a small influence, but our influence is growing as the supposedly unbiased MSM influence fades.

Rabbit, you are so right, Alberta is always the bad boy of Confederation. Why wouldn't Newfoundland's Danny Boy be attacked as a dictator? Nope the MSM love him as much as they hated Klein. No bias there, Alberta is bashed because we are Conservative. Plain and simple.

''Mr. Charest has been a tireless supporter of increasing interprovincial trade and strengthening the federation. But will he say, thanks, but no thanks, to Alberta's oil?''

Dion considers himself Mr. Unity, Dion should be asked this question.
All leaders should be asked this question in eh debates.

I bet people in Eastern/central Canada don't even know they by oil from terrorist harboring countries.

Duceppe better be careful before he bashes Alberta right out of the country. Then were would Quebec get all their money for social programs. We have had 2 years of calm with Quebec//Alberta. Why is Duceppe and probably Dion (the unity minister) trying to start another east west fight. It wont work. If Quebec would rather fund dead rabbits in trees and meat dresses and voice of fire instead of lower taxes, lower gst, no carbon tax that is their problem.
Same goes for toronto and NFLD voters. It is their choice to have no voice at the cabinet table for at least 3 or 4 years.
But they better not complain or ask for anything other than basic services required by the govt.
Regardless of the results of Oct 14 PMSH will still be PMSH, and I don't think the great dion will be threatening to bring down the govt any time soon. As for layton, we don't need any more social programs. Just heard that laytons plan for kids is per child not per family as I asked over at JNW.
