Dion And Carbon Taxes.....

They better hurry up and get them implemented because the window is closing.

Sun's wind and output on extended dimmer switch

WASHINGTON -- The sun has dialled back its furnace to the lowest levels seen in the space age, new measurements from a space probe show.

But don't worry -- it's too small a difference to change life on Earth, scientists say.

Right, could it mean global cooling? No furnace, no heat.

And for the first time in about a century, the sun went for two months this summer without sunspots, said NASA solar physicist David Hathaway.

That record was broken Monday when a cluster of eight sunspots surfaced.

Sunspots are temporary regions of high magnetic activity that from Earth appear to be black splotches.

The cause for the sun's slight weakening seems to be a change in its magnetic flux, said Dave McComas of the Southwest Research Institute......

But scientists said Tuesday the sun is in "a very prolonged minimum." Typically a solar minimum lasts about a year, but this low point has gone on since the summer of 2006.

It is "like turning down the heat on a stove," said McComas, a scientist who used the Ulysses solar probe to document a significantly weaker solar wind.

Global cooling, not warming, but the faux scientists won't admit it, they might lose their funding. The media won't tell you about it because it will decrease paper sales, and make them look like idiots because they have been shrilling for the eco-nuts.

Funny, Suzuki was in Edmonton today, and my husband was at the conference, he couldn't understand why no-one was there. The bloom is frost bitten, and people are starting to understand that a carbon tax, is a tax grab by Liberal elitists and phony carbon credit companies.

What will be happening 4 years from now, during the next election? Will the Liberals be promoting a cooling tax? It has become increasingly obvious that global warming is a scam, and Canadians aren't buying it anymore. Why aren't the opposition parties YELLING about Kyoto and how the Conservatives killed it? HA, chickens. Speaking of chickens....

A cartoon leader for the Liberals. Every time he shakes his head, he reminds me of Beavis and Butthead, every time he talks about the green shift, he reminds me of Kermit.

It's not easy being green, especially if you can't get your carbon tax off the ground, to fund all your social programs. What scares me the most is that once a carbon tax is imposed on us, it will be such a money generator for the government they will never get rid of it, like the GST.

Say NO to a carbon tax.

I want just one member of the MSM that follows Dion around every day to ask him if he is abandoning Kyoto and Pablo's little motion on compliance.

Come to think of it, when was the last time you heard the word "Kyoto" in this campaign?

A caller on Cpac asked the Liberal Strategist Susan if proceeds from carbon tax would be given to China and India to pay for KYOTO?
After much sputtering she said she didn't know.

We already have a carbon tax, it is 10 cents a litre federally, plus Alberta charges another 9 cents a litre, and then there is GST on all of it.

Why are you in favour of those taxes? If you weren't such a hypocrite, you would be campaigning to abolish these taxes.

And it seems you prefer the government to pocket these taxes, instead of lowering income and investment taxes. But this is the party that taxes income trusts.

And the tax on income trust doesn't come into effect for another 2 years. Even dion admitted that. Great campaign promise to cancel a tax that isn't in effect yet. LS, you have 2 more years to get your money out of trusts, maybe you should put it in Fannie Mae or others like it.
I guess nothing happened in canada or the govt until PMSH was elected. In 2 plus years he sure has done a lot. Taxed gas, guess it wasn't taxed under the liberals.
Job losses, guess none were lost under liberals, or premiers.
Just watching PMSH taking apart Dion's record as environment minister.

maryt: In case you missed it, when Dear Leader announced the trust unit change, ALL trust units tanked. Those of us responsible grown ups who had RRSP's, now have a lot less in them. This was after Dear Leader said he wouldn't tax them. So, for you to say that we still have 2 years to get out of the trust units is bizarre. ie stupid.

But, IOKIYCPOC :)

The trust changes re taxes still are not effective for another 2 yrs. Those that panicked and sold, got out, paid attention to the experts are the stupid ones. Our RRSP and many of my clients are doing just fine. My clients even got an increase of 1,000. tax refund due to their trust accounts.

If Harper gets a majority, the trusts will tank starting October 15.

Those that panicked and sold, got out, paid attention to the experts are the stupid ones.

The CPC "blame the victim" mentality in all its glory.

Until the majority. Then it's business as usual.

"Tory times are tough times." It's always been true. I wonder if they'd top Mulroney for TRIPLING the national debt and $40 BILLION a year deficits.

When the Liberals looked into doing the same thing to income trusts back under the Martin government their value dropped by 20 billion dollars just on the rumour alone. They never did follow through even though they knew it had to be done because they only care about the polls and that it would hurt the LPC. A few days later Brison was on his blackberry with the 'good news' for some select liberal friends.

Liberals have a hard time with history.

"I wonder if they'd top Mulroney for TRIPLING the national debt and $40 BILLION a year deficits"

Another history lesson.

“…It was the Mulroney government that started the downward trend of deficits of the operating budget of the federal government.

Between 1970 and 1976 under the leadership of the Liberal leader Pierre Trudeau, government spending grew to a record level of almost 22 per cent of GDP (Gross Domestic Product) in 1976. In 1978 the Trudeau government recorded a fiscal deficit greater than five per cent of the Canadian GDP.

During the brief government (1979 - 1980) of Conservative Joe Clark, government spending actually declined to less than 20 per cent of GDP and by 1980 recorded a corresponding reduction in the federal deficit of slightly more than four per cent of Canada’s GDP.

Between 1980 and 1984, under the leadership of Liberal Pierre Trudeau, government spending skyrocketed to an all-time record in 1984 of greater than 24 per cent of the GDP along with an all-time record fiscal deficit of almost nine per cent of Canada’s GDP. This record government spending and fiscal deficit as a percentage of Canada’s GDP has never been matched by any other Canadian federal government.

Between 1984 and 1990 under the leadership of Conservative Brian Mulroney, government spending was reduced to less than 22 per cent of Canada’s GDP in 1990 and the government fiscal deficit also declined to less than 4.5 per cent of GDP. In 1987-88 the Mulroney government actually recorded an operating surplus of more than $2 billion, but the public debt charges of $31 billion forced the government to record a budgetary deficit.

From 1987-93 under the leadership of Conservative Brian Mulroney and Kim Campbell, the government recorded operating surpluses of $2 billion, $7.5 billion, $12.1 billion, $11 billion, $11.5 billion, $2.3 billion and $1.5 billion dollars respectively but the public debt charges forced the government to record a budgetary deficit in each year.”

The GST and NAFTA took care of the rest. Both of which the Liberals promised to eliminate.
